      <description><![CDATA[<p>I bought the Carrara 8.5 Pro Bundle while&nbsp;it was on sale, and when I fired it up for the first time I&nbsp;bleeped past the authorization screen (&quot;Enter serial number&quot;&nbsp;etc.).</p>

<p>Now I know how to find the serial number, but for the life of me I can&#39;t figure out how to retrieve that&nbsp;authorization screen. Day by day I&#39;m counting down to what Carrara thinks is my &#39;trial period&#39; when I actually own the thing, Nothing I&#39;ve tried has allowed me to enter the necessary info. All I get is a link to the DAZ 3D store inviting me to buy what I&#39;ve already bought.</p>

<p>There must be a simple solution, but I&#39;m darned (font kerning problem: d-a-r-n-e-d looks exactly like damed) if I can find it.</p>

<p>Please help before it&#39;s too late! *</p>

What I am trying to do is weld this shield to the boots so it stays put when I pose the character. I don&#39;t know if that can be done in Daz so I was thinking Hexagon could help. Any ideas? <p>Whenever I load a actor or add to I get &quot;Not Responding&quot; message. Even when I load a scene I get this message. Is this a setting problem or a computer? I have a Windows 10 system. Processor is 3.5 Ghz FX-Series Eight Core FX-8320 AMD, Ram 16 GB SDRAM DDR3, Memory Speed 1600MHz, Hard Drive 2048 GB SATA III, Graphic Coprocessor Nvidia Geforce GTX 960 and the graphic card Ram size is 2048 for the computer side. Any help on this would be great.</p>

      <title>Anyone else find DS 4.9.4.122 to be unstable?</title>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;m using DS4.9.4.122 Pro Edition 64-bit Public Build, but to be honest, it&#39;s not just 4.9.122, I was having similar issues with 4.9.4.117:</p>

<p>The type of problems I&#39;m experiencing are intermittant and not repeatable unfortunately. They include:</p>

<p>1) Crash on start up. DS gets as far as the Flash Screen and starts the process of loading DS, then gives a general Microsoft error warning that an unknown error has occured along with the usual search for a solution, which always fails to find an answer. The crash seems to happen at random places in the start-up proceedure. Repeating the program initialisation a few times usually works though sometimes a full computer restart is required.</p>

<p>2) DS freezes as a result of a random instruction to do something, eg changing a display setting or texture setting. This often locks up the whole computer, though not always.</p>

<p>3) DS freezes upon completion of a render. The render is visible on the screen but either I cannot type in the image name box, or after doing that I cannot click on save. This error always locks up DS, usually permanently, though sometimes DS will just crash eventually. Usually this error also locks the entire computer.</p>

<p>4) Earlier DS sometimes reported that OpenGL was only version 1.1 (even after the graphics card driver was updated). I haven&#39;t seen that error message for a while though now.</p>

<p>I am using dual Nvidia GeForce 980 GTx ti graphics cards and have been for quite a long time, but these&nbsp;errors have&nbsp;only recently been appearing. DS seems to be the only program that is experiencing a serious problem, though sometimes other programs will pause for many seconds (which I&nbsp;thought might indicate a hard drive issue). I use Auslogics Boost Speed 9 to keep the registry clean and the unused links to a minimum and for general computer maintainence including disk checking and defraging.</p>

<p>I can&#39;t pin the problem down and I don&#39;t know that it originates with DS, but certainly DS is the most affected program. Has anyone else had similar problems?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hello. Experienced input desperately needed here please. I have managed to produce a couple of Toon Army pix for a&nbsp;friend. I have worked out how to save them as a jpeg and all seemed fine until I emailed the pix to him but the DAZ information borders are showing as well eg Share - Zoom - Slideshow - Draw - etc etc. Please see attached pic.</p>

<p>Is it possible to save the pictures for onward transmission, or indeed to save for future use,&nbsp;without the DAZ borders.</p>

      <title>UV Mapping Problems w Daz and Substance Painter -- SOLVED D'oh!</title>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I sucessfully applied the Morphng Business Suit (for Genesis <a href="https://www.daz3d.com/morphing-business-suit" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">https://www.daz3d.com/morphing-business-suit</a> ) to a G2 character. &nbsp;Then I exported the suit as an OBJ.</p>

<p>I opened the suit in Substance Painter, made all the adjustments, then saved the map. &nbsp;Everything looked fine.</p>

<p>However, when I applied the map&nbsp;to the jacket back in DAZ, it was tiled all over the surface, and not being applied as a single map. &nbsp;This (incidentally) is how the original suit textures seem to be applied -- as a tile of a smaller texture.</p>

<p>I checked the UV settings in the Surface Tab and it said &quot;Default UVs&quot;. &nbsp;There were no other options.</p>

<p>Is there a way to apply UVs to clothing? &nbsp;When I exported to OBJ I included mapping coordinates. &nbsp;More importantly I have has success on all my other touch ups, so this is a surprise.</p>

<p>Any ideas?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hi all. I&#39;ve only been at this for a little under two weeks so maybe there&#39;s something I&#39;m doing wrong, but I am having trouble using some V4 products -- namely, the Strawberry Hair and Ultra Aging Morphs products, in Daz Studio 4.9.</p>

<p><br />
Strawberry Hair: It loads fine, but when I try to style the bangs (the default bang style is unnaturally stiff and bowl-like; I&#39;d like them to appear natural and varied as shown in the promo pictures), I cannot find any sliders to change them. I checked the content library and found an item, &quot;01 + Inject Morphs,&quot; but nothing happened when I clicked on that.</p>

<p><br />
V4 Ultra Aging Morphs: This doesn&#39;t work at all. There are no shaping/parameter sliders, and when I tried to inject morphs through the content library nothing happened.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>Since both these issues are both morph-related I thought that could be the problem, so I opened Victoria 4.2 Morphs++ in the content library and tried to use some of the poses there. Not a one worked.</p>

<p><br />
Clicking on these things does do SOMETHING, because for a brief moment a &quot;Loading&quot; box appears, but I see no discernible change in my model.</p>

<p><br />
Another thing possibly significant: all three of the aforementioned products have alert-triangle-inside-a-picture-frame icons next to them in my content library.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;ve been trying to get a dramatic effect on a closeup portrait with deep shadow on one side and lighted only on one side. I&#39;ve tried several of the light sets that I&#39;ve bought here at DAZ, but none of them seem to work as I would like them to. When I render, it seems to come out with the default lighting, no deep shadow, and I&#39;m getting a bit frustrated. What am I doing wrong? I&#39;ve tried turning off the headlamp, but still no luck. Is there something I&#39;m not grasping about iray lighting. I&#39;ve been using DAZ Studio for several years, and it&#39;s still a learning process. I guess we never stop learning.</p>

<p>Are there some lighting secrets I need to know to get what I&#39;m trying to achieve?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Firstly they wont memorize &quot;grasp&quot; or any other pose tools. Secondly, when I make a clean scene and use the pose on a fresh figure the rigging of the hands gets messed up and sometimes deforms all weird.</p>

<p>I know I can addujst rigging to shape, but... thats a pain to have to do everytime I load. Yes the actor. is properly ERC Froze as far as I&#39;m aware. I dont know if its the Genesis 3 Figure or the actor or if thers something wrong with my pose saving, or what..</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;m still pretty new to Daz, but when I hide&nbsp;the lights in my scene, it goes completely dark. I understand I&#39;ve hidden the light source but why doesn&#39;t it go back to the way it looked before I added any lights? The reason I ask this is because sometimes, I want to change a small feature and its in a dark area of my scene, so I can&#39;t see it. I have to literally delete the lights to be able to see what I need to pose or move, then I have to add them back. Is there any way I can just click the &quot;eye&quot; to turn them off and return to the base light that shows everything? Then I can just turn the lights back on and proceed?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Is it possible to put other characters on the billboard nodes? The ones shown on the product page are great, but they only work for &quot;here and now&quot; images. If one wants to use them to populate a scene with characters from another era or culture, or even sci-fi or fantasy, is it possible to put our own characters into a scene using these billboard nodes?</p>

<p>If so, how is that done? I think this is a great way to put a large number of characters into a scene without putting my computer into a coma.</p>

<p>If I make a pair of earrings and then parent them to the head, they don&#39;t really follow the head very well, so how can I make then stick to the earlobes so that they don&#39;t need repositioning after every head move? Is there another way of pinning them to the head but more accurately to the ears?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I did some reshaping of genesis 3 fitted hair with D-Formers and the Smoothing Modifier Collision settings. The new HairStyle morphs I created with this method are fine but still I need to activate the Smoothing Modifier so the scalp / scullcap fits the head shape without pokethroughs.</p>

<p>So I set the HairStyle morphs as Favourits to do some extra step to quickly fix that scalp / scullcap fitting problem.</p>

<p>Now I want to use the Geomerty Editor to select the scalp / scullcap surface fom the hair and then right-click Viewport&gt;Morph Editing&gt;Remove Selected Deltas from Favourites.</p>

<p>I know I&#39;ve used this funktion before in DS version 4.9.3.166 but now with the update to v4.9.4.177 I can&#39;t find it anymore. I&#39;ve activated the Favourits and made a polygon selection in the Geometry Editor then I right-click on the Veiwport but the entry for Morph Editing&gt;Remove Selected Deltas from Favourites is missing in the menu.<img alt="crying" src="https://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/cry_smile.png" title="crying" /></p>

<p>I remember after the update I had used the script from the Utilitys &quot;Update and Merge Menus&quot; because somewhere I&#39;ve written you should do that after the update. Maybe it has to do something about that - why my menu dosend show the function?</p>

<p>The strage thing about that is that the order of every context menu entry of DS got mixed to a new order - so I had to learn to use DS again because every menu enty suddenly is sorted diffrent.<img alt="angry" src="https://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/angry_smile.png" title="angry" /></p>

<p><strong>Another complicated workaroud is using the Attenuate option</strong></p>

<p>But first you need to export the morph as an OBJ file - than you have to import it back with the morphloader pro and use the <strong>Attenuate By </strong>option in the settings.</p>

<p>If you right-click the <strong>Attenuate By </strong>setting you can select which polygons should be included and deformed by the imported morph.<br />
You can choose between all kinds of selections like Face Groups, Surfaces also you can create a polygon Selection Set first to choose or even better for smooth transitions create a DFormer and use the DFormer Influence Field maybe set it to weight-map for the Attenuate By to include.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Unless there&#39;s&nbsp;some kind of &#39;Advanced Search&#39; button I&#39;ve missed, the present so-called &#39;Search&#39; function is a joke in poor taste. Example: try a search on &#39;file size&#39; and you (eventually) get a list of every post that contains either &#39;file&#39; or &#39;size.&#39;</p>

<p>What??? No phrase search, or filters of any kind??? This isn&#39;t rocket science, and it isn&#39;t&nbsp;1986 any more. How much could it cost to add it?</p>

<p>And the situation can only get worse as the forums grow and grow and...</p>

<p>[ Edit: it&#39;s even worse. I just noticed the results include &#39;sizes&#39; and &#39;files&#39;. ]</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I hope this is the place to ask.</p>

<p>As far as I can tell, all my render images seem to be duplicated with a file bearing the extension _@_icon.@, where @ represents the file type (jpg, png, etc). I have hundreds of them getting in myt way. I delete them but next time they are back again. It only seems to be an issue with Daz-rendered images. Other graphics files are not affected.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Is it a setting somewhere that I can change, please to stop it?&nbsp;</p>

<p>I am using Windows 10 with Explorer, and DS 4.9 (but it happened with 4.8 too).</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I am interested in making characters and (at the moment) sharing them as freebies. So, I made a G8 character and a skin (using skinbuilder3) .</p>

<p>Can I give away that character? If so how do I package it up as a zip file?</p>

<p>I did do some google searching but couldn&#39;t find just simple instructions - like Step 1. Do this Step 2 Do that...</p>

<p>Also, Will UV swap enable me to make a Male skin (as a female skin) and then save it as a male skin?</p>

<p>Grateful for any help on this (I am aware there may be licensing issues)</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>So I managed to get some nice anime eyelashes that I would love to use on genesis.</p>

<p>I did some X/Y/Z translate/Scale to make them fit roughly.</p>

<p>It does work for single frame renders but I&#39;d love to make those OBJ lashes follow Genesis morphs so I could easily animate them.</p>

<p>Is there a simple way to go about it?</p>

<p>If possible please provide step by step guide. Would greatly appreciate it.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Please, PLEASE tell me that there&#39;s a more direct way to define a deform field than manipuating the sphere!&nbsp;</p>

<p>I&#39;m working on a figure at present and, quite frankly, all of the deformers wreck the inner shape of her butt. As soon as I change a pose, her tush gets all flat in areas it shouldn&#39;t be flat! Now, I know how to fix this (and have had some success with using the DForm tools) but defining the area with the sphere is clumsy and imprecise (I wind up grabbing bits of the opposing cheek, her crotch, etc.)&nbsp;</p>

<p>I played around with the &quot;Node Weight Map Brush&quot; and it DOES allow me to directly select the polygons I want to edit. Yay! However, there&#39;s nothing I can do with that ease of functionality when it comes to defining those polys for a DForm. It&#39;s right there! All highlighted in yellow, EXACTLY what I need! Would a simple button to define a selection be that difficult to program? OR include that &quot;brushing on the surface&quot; selection capability to the DForm tab. Seriously - I&#39;m new to this - but this ONE tiny piece of coding would elimate my need for Zbrush (at least, until I figure out how to make clothing.)<br />

Then again, I can kinda understand why they don&#39;t include it...&nbsp;</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I needed a grocery cart prop. <a rel="nofollow" href="https://www.daz3d.com/the-alley">The Alley </a>has a nice grocery cart, unfortunately it is not a separate prop. It is part of a single object called &quot;boxes and cart&quot; which included a bunch of boxes and there is aTV inside the cart. So I used geometry editor to delete the boxes and the TV that was inside the cart.</p>

<p>I then saved it as a support asset&gt;figure/prop asset&gt;grocery cart</p>

<p>The trouble is that the cart is not zeroed, I want it to load at 0,0,0 so that I can easily animate it. Right now it is at a weird angle and not at the center of the Daz universe.</p>

<p>How do I center it so the DAZ gizmo is directly over the cart?</p>
