      <description><![CDATA[<p>I don&#39;t really like using the install manager. I prefer using the method of double clicking on Smart Content to install my content. However, I need to install to a directory on a separate hard drive because my main hard drive has run out of space. I figured out how to install to a different directory using DIM but I would prefer to use the other method of install instead. Thanks for the help!</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Here&#39;s how I think displacement maps work in DAZ Studio:</p>

<ul>
	<li>Black (RGB 0,0,0) is low. If your minimum displacement setting is left at the default of 0, then black = no displacement</li>
	<li>White (RGB 255,255,255) is high. It will be translated to whatever is the maximum displacement setting you select in the Surfaces tab</li>
	<li>Shades of gray map proportionally between the minimum and maximum displacement</li>
</ul>

<p>I wanted to draw veins on a character&#39;s skin, so I filled a .jpg with black and used a soft white brush to draw the veins. The result looks great, except that when the displacement map is used, seams pop out between this section of skin and others that don&#39;t have displacement maps. Light reflects off the surface&#39;s edges as if there is a slightly raised area there.</p>

<p>The fact that it isn&#39;t seamless&nbsp;suggests I&#39;m doing something wrong. Have I misunderstood how displacement maps are supposed to work?</p>

<p>So I have the damien figure and I want to make an animation of him walking forward. I got the bad boy outfit and asher hair style. When I try to animate him using the tools already provided his arms are stuck in the t pose and he walks like a stick figure. Any help on how to fix this?</p>

<p>I am working on a DazStudio piece for a client who needs the final artwork to be 250cm x 100cm at 120dpi</p>

<p>I have seen some posts online that discuss some alternate render sizing to get a decent quality image because I think 250cm wide at 120dpi will be a super huge render.</p>

<p>Any suggestions or alternatives?</p>

I&#39;ve been having trouble with strange &nbsp;lines in the skin. I&#39;ve researched about &nbsp;such problem and I found that the Group ID numbers had to be the same in each body part... I still don&#39;t understand which number it has to be, a random pick? All the Group ID numbers in the character are the same check... The problem is still there... I played around with the shading rate and shading scale, lowering it, but I&#39;ve gone as low as 0.10 and the line still seem visible in the legs... I&#39;m having this problem with the same two characters... I played around with the lights but still the lines can be seen... The funny thing is when the camera is far away, the lines seem clearly visible, but in a close up the lines disappear...</p>

<p>The third character from the stairs down has lines all over the body, especially on the legs, and the last character also has some lines on the legs, those I made disapear as most as I could lowering the shading rate... The third character is the one that I can&#39;t figure out!</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I use the follow process to fit a geocraft, and it works, or it appears to.</p>

<p>1. Rig the prop first, (Dont add a subD; Set the target item (such as as Genesis figure to Base and turn subD to zero).</p>

<p>2. Select Geom on Target (Make sure target is selected.) - Geocraft should be fitted.</p>

<p>3. Right-click (on Target) and select Geometry Assignment&gt;Set AutoHide faces for Attachment.</p>

<p>4. Select Geocraft Item in Dialogue.</p>

<p>5. Select Ring of polygons on base; it is the outmost ring of geometry visible around the Geocraft.</p>

<p>6. Right-click (on Target) and select Geometry Assignment&gt;Set Graft Faces for Attachment.</p>

<p>7. Select Geocraft Item in Dialogue.</p>

<p>8. Fit to NONE and refit.</p>

<p>The two figures both have the geocraft fitted, yet the one on the right, you cant tell. I played around with subD and other settings, but they both have the same settings on the figures and on the craft. The geometry is not misalligned, so it should match up. Pretty sure I&#39;ve forgotten a step as I managed it previously. I&#39;m almost believing its something to do with G8, but it doesn&#39;t make sense.</p>

<p>EDIT:</p>

<p>For reference for others, the instructions above worked for me; I changed instruction 1 to match what worked.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I had created a few sets of clothes some time ago by downloading some cool sets off sharecg that were in .max format, converted them to obj. Made changes in Hexagon, sent to Daz Studio and did a rigging transfer.</p>

<p>Anyways, the sets worked up until this last update and now pieces of the sets no longer work :(</p>

<p>It&#39;s like half the set works and the other half just loads grey boxes as if it can&#39;t find the geometry but it&#39;s all there and has all worked before.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p><strong>Some facts: Windows 7 x64, DAZ 3D version </strong>&nbsp;4.9 as update (with DIM) from a former install of 4.5+</p>

<p>&nbsp;<strong>I get this message as pop up, after starting DAZ Studio:&nbsp;</strong><span>A valid PostgreSQL CMS connection could not be established. Several DAZ Studio features,&nbsp;that require a valid PostgreSQL CMS connection, such as context aware, content views&nbsp;and loading content, installed using the Daz Connect service, will not be available. Check&nbsp;your network, anti-virus, and firewall settings for conflicts.</span></p>

<p>I couldn&#39;t discover any&nbsp;PostgreSQL installation on my PC. I uninstalled DAZ 3D 4.9 (x64) with DIM, restarted the PC and installed it again with DIM, but same result.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Here&#39;s a render of the &#39;58 Chevy Impala I bought from Renderosity. I&#39;ve successfully applied iRay shaders to every surface except the backs of the front seats.&nbsp;I&#39;ve played with every setting I can think of, but I can&#39;t get rid of that mottled gray effect. I&#39;m sure it&#39;s something simple and stupid, and hoping to find out what.</p>

<p>I&#39;ve recently upgraded to a new computer but find that my renders are actually overall slower than the last.</p>

<p>From what I can tell, my last one was nearly impossible to use during a render, while my new one can run other programs just fine during it. Seems like it isn&#39;t the daz program to it&#39;s full potential maybe?</p>

<p>I have a 1080 ti, windows 10 (upgraded from 7), 32gb of ram (same as before)</p>

<p>Any idea of what I could do?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Could someone point me toward a tutorial on exporting a Zbrush model so that it can be imported into Daz Studio along with its texture, bumpmap, specular map, etc.?&nbsp;</p>

<p>I tried Googling but only seem to find GoZ articles where the model originates in Daz, goes to Zbrush for modification, then is transferred back to Daz.</p>

<p>Even generic instructions (non-Zbrush) would be helpful. &nbsp;I understand that UV mapping has to exist before the model is exported.</p>

      <title>"Daz Studio Application has stopped working" at end of render</title>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I have been tearing my hair out over this. &nbsp;In one particular render I have been repeatedly trying to do, it apparently gets ALL the way to finishing the render, but before it can hand off control to the render window such that I can type in the name I want to save the image out under...&nbsp;&quot;Daz Studio Application has stopped working. &nbsp;A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.&quot; &nbsp;This is with buttons offering me to [Debug] or to&nbsp;[Close program]</p>

<p>This is really bizzare because another view from elsewhere in the same scene renders without a hitch. &nbsp;The one that renders fine does so in maybe 10 minutes or less, and is with the camera placed out several feet away from the character in the scene.. &nbsp;(And the scene is literally just a character and a tiny handful of props, with nothing behind them&nbsp;but empty alpha-space.) &nbsp;The render that crashes DS has the camera moved in much closer to&nbsp;the character, along more or less line of sight from where the other camera is placed, with the camera pointed closely&nbsp;upon what the character is sitting on,&nbsp;but for some reason this shot&nbsp;also has a very much higher render time. &nbsp;Twice today I ran that render&nbsp;and it went for exactly 2 hours... and then DS crashed. &nbsp;I then reduced ithe render time down by changing the light source from being the camera headlamp (which was giving a really washed out look to the shot) to being a linear point light placed roughly were the farther out&nbsp;camera is placed. &nbsp;That new version&nbsp;went for just over an hour before it&nbsp;completed the render... and then DS crashed with the same error.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hi Guys</p>

<p>I have been rendering using IRAY for almost 2 years.</p>

<p>For my earlier projects I was only rendering to 1280 x 720.&nbsp;</p>

<p>I have a 980Ti, 780TI and a 750 GPU in my system.</p>

<p>With all of my earlier renders they tend to reder fairly fast and consistant.</p>

<p>Recently I have been starting to render in 1920x 1080.</p>

<p>For the most part it was working well obviously taking longer to do a render but it would render well.</p>

<p>Recently when I do a render the render would be going great for a while then wihtout even getting to 1% it would grind to a hal.</p>

<p>I thought maybe VRAM, Then RAM etc, etc.</p>

<p>I could&nbsp;not work it out.</p>

<p>So I got a new monitoring program to see what was actually going on and here is where I hit a very strange thing.</p>

<p>When I start the render all 3 cards are working great the 980TI was only using 1.2gb of it&#39;s 6GB VRAM, the 780ti is only using 1.6 of its Vram, The 750 was using 1.3 of its Vram.</p>

<p>They are all using most of their Core clock and Memory clocks.</p>

<p>So rendering well and working as they should.</p>

<p>But then the Render grinds to a halt and I notice the 980Ti and the 750 are not using any of their Core Clocks or Memory clocks. So&nbsp;they decide to stop offering their power.</p>

<p>Meanwhile the 780TI is still going at full speed.</p>

<p>Does anyone know why this is happening?</p>

<p>It has turned my usually good render rig into a render pig.</p>

<p>This has been incredibly Frustrating.</p>

<p>I don&#39;t get it.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I recently got a new computer and did a new install of Daz Studio Version 4.9.4.117 Pro Edition (64 bit) and Genesis 3 female has no clone to wear Genesis 3 male clothing?&nbsp;</p>

<p>I looked and can find one other post in the forums about this but no answers.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Everything else works this is the only thing I seem to be missing.</p>

<p>Help would be so appreciated.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hi all, I need some help with Daz crashing. &nbsp;I haven&#39;t used it in a couple of months. &nbsp;I went to open it yesterda, and it opens just fine. &nbsp;While moving around in Daz it suddenly shuts down. I&#39;ve done this probably 5 times and each time it just shuts down, usually about 10 minutes after opening&nbsp;the program. I get the following error message: (Files Attached)</p>
