Salve!

Since I started to play around with Connect, I noticed one thing that turns more and more into an issue for me - the separated content libraries.
Is it possible to display a combined content library, so I don't have to search all the time if the product is in the Connect branch or in the regular one?

Thank you

So, earlier today, my PC crashed while Daz Studio 4.9 was open, and it must have done something with the program.

All my Saved Files, and renders in my library show up as the exclamation triangles, even though I can still load them. When i try to save a scene, an error message comes up, saying "Error saving the file. The render could not be saved. Try again or choose a new file name." with Try Again, Chose New File and Cancel as options. I can't click any of those options, though, only close the notification window. Funny thing is, the scene is saved, even though it gives an error. Renders on the other hand are not.

Does anyone have any idea on what to do to fix this?

Howdy,

I am looking for a way to resolve an issue that I think began after a hard-reboot of my computer. For some reason, Izabella 7 shoulders are not bending correctly. The problem does not appear to affect other Genesis 3 figures. I've uninstalled and reinstalled her a couple of times, as well as Studio itself, but neither has corrected this issue. Once upon a time, Studio created runtime data the first time a product was used; I'm wondering if this got damaged and needs to be removed so it can be recreated. It may no longer be applicable at all since the introdcution of the Daz Connect data, but it is the only idea I have left. I've attached an image that illustrates the problem.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

I'm really tempted to buy genesis 8 based alone on the morph clones for g1/2/3 in one single character :o But the majority of my work involves me rendering sprite animations with like 150+ frames. One of the main reasons I still use G2 so much is she renders quite significantly faster than G3 - with that in mind how is the G8 render speed? Slower again than G3? I'm imagining more detail added = slower render times :o

Also how are people finding her in general? Do the clones for g1/2/3 work well? How is she with G3 poses etc?

Thanks for your time and advice!

This might be a strange question, but I'm super curious about it.

If you have four figures on the stage and make one invisible by turning off the figure's visiblity, will rendering still be affected by the invisible figure?

By that I mean, will rendering with four figures and one invisible be the same as rendering only three figures? Or does that invisible figure still affect it and slow it down?

I've disable 'Visible in Render' and I'm hoping that excludes the figure completely and it renders as fast as it would if the figure was deleted.

Does anyone know? Thank you all for your help!

The character in the story I'm working on is of Scandinavian descent, with fair skin, blonde hair, and blue eyes. I had a heck of a time finding a set of skin textures and shaders pale enough to suit.

At some point in the story I'd like to send her on a vacation to, say, Costa Rica, and have her come home with a golden bronze tan. Swapping out her skin textures for a darker set simply won't do because it changes her entire appearance: her face doesn't look at all like the one I spent hours shaping and tweaking. Some body textures also have features I don't want, e.g. built-in painted on pubic hair.

I know about Skin Builder. I own it and have spent some time playing with it, but (like other sets of replacement textures) it alters my character's appearance into unrecognizability.

So I'm wondering if there's a relatively easy & straightforward way to darken her skin without changing her face by too much. Either that or a product (preferably on sale ) that will do it for me with a couple of mouse clicks.

Hello!

So, I was working on a new G8F character and I've run into a bit of a problem. I've tried for two days to figure out how to get a consistent texture pattern across seams from the face to the torso, from the torso to the arms, and from the torso to the legs. I cannot find a way to do this consistently. No matter what I try, the texture on the face is smaller and the texture on the torso is larger. I even tried texturing using the pattern in Blacksmith 3D hoping that would help create a consistent texture. I would then use that texture as an overlay and blend in Photoshop with the original face textures. Here is what I got using that process:

http://pre14.deviantart.net/ff54/th/pre/i/2017/205/3/d/liara_by_renderguyny-dbhhl8p.png (full size)

As you can see, there is a very clear texture difference between the face and the neck. I'm just not quite sure what to do at this point. Any advice will be helpful!

Thanks,

It bleeds into the object. And even after I expand the selection and other stuff, I still get this green (or lavendar) glow which I don't get extracting from actual photographs. And if I extract to get past the glow the extracted stuff looks extracted too much.

Does anyone have any best practices for extracting from IRAY or 3Delight. I once saw a photoshop tutorial where they used channels to extract the right color and it was beautiful. But I think it has something to do with one of the many many things in the surfaces tab I don't understand like specular light opacity or higgs bozon particle flux or whatever. Or maybe a render engine setting. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

I am having problems rendering Saab'a alKair in Max and other applications, I wondered if anyone knew what to do about it?
Please look at the render below - as you can see from the black areas on the towers and pillars, among other places, the textures don't wrap properly on import.
They do on FBX-import, but then on Obj-export, the mesh just goes batshit with randomly flipped normals, creating even more black areas the texture won't wrap around in the mesh - its as if something is either missing or not really firing in the texture channel

I've tried:

UV Mapper to fix the normals, as it was a DAZ/Poser mesh, that usually fixes it.

UVL's clean function, which gave a result like the other attached image

Manually trying to reset the texture UV channel, but that was just time-intensive and a pain

Photoshopping the texture so we could cover the black (as we used the model in a real time tech-demo)

Various settings for import/export - from faceted mesh to Poser settings in the Max Obj importer/DAZ Obj/FBX exporter

Alembic

Also tried to set the textures to baked in the Surface tab

A trip into Unfold3D

Installing my much disliked copy of Poser 11 and seeing if that did the trick, with their exporter - it did not

I am kind of stumped, here, and I also have a boss who was less than pleased with the resultts of using this model, as we also used it to a demo of light- and complete map baking
It's also cost me time I don't really have - which was a PitA too.
So - anyone, what went wrong here, what should I have done that I did not?

This is a highly modified G3f character so I thought: "no problem, I'll use Easy feet morphs to reduce the feet size till they fit the shoes". However, the Easy Feet morphs are also active in the shoes as the shoes are conformed to the figure, resulting in the shoes shrinking as well, as I apply the Easy Feet morphs. "No problem!" thinks I; I'll just select the shoes and make the Easy Feet morph on the shoes a Favourite and then under Morph Editing, I'll "Clear the selected deltas from favourites". Now there is a problem... I can't find the Easy Feet morph on the shoes. I find lots of other morphs transfered from the g3f character, but not the one I'm looking for. The Easy Feet morph must be present on the shoes as it is changing the shape of the shoes, but the morph dial seems to be hiding in the laberinthine Parameters tab.

Still quite noobish so sorry in advance. Trying to import a model into Daz from Cinema 4D using an .obj file. Its Cinema 4D R12 so, I know, eeesh. But hey its still amazing. I'm not getting the textures to load AND iDaz's surface tab isn't recognizing some of the model's surfaces. These are surfaces from extrudes I made in the model. (as a noob all I do is extrude and bevel.) I've downloaded obj files that load the textures so I know its possible. So questions are as follows:

1 Is there a better more automatic way of exporting 3D models into Daz than .obj (besides for Daz and Poser content of course). I hear its old and the MTL files are problematic in Daz?

2. Can I point the .obj file to the texture location and then just put them all in the same folder or whatever while saving or exporting from Cinema 4D? Will that let Daz draw my textures?

3. I noticed all the wisdom on the web seems about exporting TO Cinema 4D. Should I be doing all my rendering in that? Seems like a big huge pain if I'm doing animation with poses though I do like its renderer.

4. Would creating a new plane of the same size and location as a surface that daz doesn't recognize help Daz recognize the surface since it's a new primative? That's a confusing question. In other words. Lets say I have a cylinder and put an extrude into the front and textured that extruded surface differently from the rest of the polygon. Would making a round plane the same size as that extruded surface right on top of it help Daz recognize it since its a new primative and not just the face of a polygon?

Instead of a blended texture where one image fades into the other across the image I wind up with a solid gray color to the object which then will not go away even when I try to remove the shaders and reset the object (the only way to get rid of it seems to be to delete the object and start over).

Can I please have some help with this, as trying to create a blended texture that fades from one to the other is getting rather frustrating and none of the available tutorials seem to help (to the contrary, they seem to be making things worse, harder, and more confusing).
