      <description><![CDATA[<p>Can anyone please tell me how I get these mirrors - the &quot;Mirror Mirror&quot; product only - to reflect? I did search the forums but can only find details about other mirrors, and Mirror Mirror doesn&#39;t have the same menu of settings. EG: I&#39;ve used the Atlantida mirror in three different complete compositions and in two it instantly reflected, while although it didn&#39;t in the third, all I had to do was increase the &quot;reflection strength&quot; setting to get it to reflect. However, in Mirror Mirror that reflection setting doesn&#39;t exist - there&#39;s only &quot;reflectivity&quot; set at a 50% default, but lowering or heightening it makes no difference. I&#39;ve tried fiddling with all of the settings, but have failed over and over again - over months! - to get any of the mirrors to reflect anything. If I give the centre part of the mirror a glass shader it does reflect but very pathetically. I now really need a wall mirror for a new composition, but I can&#39;t use the Atlantida one as it&#39;s inseparable from it&#39;s stand.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I imported an object from a COLLADA file. It came into DAZ Studio perfectly--except that it was twice as big as desired. I scaled it down to 50% of its imported size, and now it really <em>is</em> perfect.</p>

<p>But before saving it as an asset, I&#39;d like to lock in its new size so that when I reload it,&nbsp;it will appear&nbsp;at exactly the right size, but the scale factor will say 100%.</p>

<p>In Blender, this is called &quot;applying&quot; a transform. DS may offer the same feature but with a different name.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;ve watched Sickleyield&#39;s excellent YouTube tutorial on making clothing morphs. In summary (as I understand it):</p>

<ol>
	<li>Export the object to Blender (or equivalent editing package of your choice) as an OBJ (other formats might work -this is what she uses)</li>
	<li>Fiddle with the position of the vertices</li>
	<li>Re-import the modified OBJ using Morph Loader Pro (MLP), which creates the morph by comparing the original position of the vertices in the unmodified object to the modified positions.&nbsp;</li>
</ol>

<p>There are obviously subtleties depending on whether you&#39;re creating your own morph or wanting the item to react to an existing character morph, but I basically get it.</p>

<p>So here are the questions:</p>

<ol>
	<li>Is this technique only applicable to clothing? Or is this essentially how PA&#39;s create custom character shapes as well?</li>
	<li>I&#39;ve&nbsp;seen forum references to &quot;ERC Freeze&quot; (or something like that) related (I think) to morphs as well. What is that for, and how does it differ from what MLP&nbsp;does?</li>
	<li>If the MLP technique works for characters, could I use it to convert a character shape created with dozens of different dials to an independent/standalone &quot;single dial morph&quot; by exporting the complexly-morphed character and then re-importing that shape (using MLP) against the base Genesis figure to which I&#39;d done all the dialing? (Note: the question is technical, not legal. Not talking about using this as a technique for creating saleable items.)</li>
</ol>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Is there any way to import iclone poses or animations to genesis 3 characters in daz?</p>

<p>What i managed to do so far is to export a G3 character as fbx, import it into 3dexchange and then into iclone, animate / pose it in iclone, export it back to to 3dexchange and then export it from 3dexchange. But when i import it into daz studio, no matter if i use bvh or fbx, the animation / pose is not there (for fbx it&#39;s just a basic tpose and for bvh is something totally different from what i have in the file - and the bvh file itself is fine, i checked it with a bvh viewer).</p>

<p>So what is the proper way to import poses / animations to Genesis3?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;m getting problems recently with Studio crashing when I do spot renders, but FULL renders run fine (This is in Iray).</p>

<p>I have submitted a bug report and was told it is a known problem, and I will be contacted again. However, I don&#39;t know what the bug is, which means I have no clue how to avoid the problem until a fix is announced.</p>

<p>Any one know what the cause is?</p>

<p>PC: i7-7700 (8 core) 32 Meg RAM, GTX1080. Windows 10 (64 bit). Studio version 4.9 (Latest).</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I created a small terrain in vue 2015 and exported it (with out any textures ) as an obj. it imports in to daz studio no problem but when i add a shader to the terrain there is no details for example a ground shader with a mix of leaves is just a flat brown colour no leaves can be seen yet the same texture applied to a cube or sphere shows all the leaves .Why is that Ive tried adjusting the number of tiles makes no difference at all</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>EDIT: Seems to only be affecting one scene with G3F (containing just a single model, no lights or props) and not others, which is even more bonkers!</p>

<p>I updated to the latest version last night (4.9.1.122 - 64bit) and now the&nbsp;viewports will not show preview renders in Iray mode. I don&#39;t have an nVidia card (yet) so this is all off the CPU. The CPU sounds like it&#39;s trying to preview render, but nothing really happens. If you move the model on the axis with the mouse, you can see a fuzzy, low rez version of the texture, but as soon as you stop moving the camera around it goes back to untextured (grey).</p>

<p>If I could roll back to the previous version I would. I rely on this for lights, DOF cameras etc. I&#39;ve updated my Intel and AMD drivers, but that didn&#39;t help.</p>

<p>Any suggestions I can try? Thanks!</p>

<p>Getting a lot of this in the log file. Don&#39;t know if this is good or bad...</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;ve been following the <a rel="nofollow" href="http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/userguide/creating_content/assembling/tutorials/creating_morph_controlled_morphs/start">apparently outdated tutorial on morph controlled morphs</a>&nbsp;together with more updated forum posts but I have a problem - under the morph for my figure (e.g. the&nbsp;&quot;goblin&quot; morph) where I&#39;ve added my &quot;MCMdrEyeCloseR&quot; in the Property Hierarchy Pane, I can&#39;t choose the ERC type &quot;multiply&quot; (ERCMultiply) but only ERC types &quot;DeltaAdd&quot;, &quot;Subtract&quot;, &quot;Add&quot;, &quot;Keyed&quot;. So I can&#39;t figure out how to make the MCM only apply when this one specific morph (&quot;goblin&quot;) is activated. I tried doing it with &quot;keyed&quot; instead thinking maybe &quot;Multply&quot; had been replaced by it but I couldn&#39;t get it to work the way I expected.</p>

<p>Anybody has any suggestions? Why isn&#39;t &quot;Multiply&quot; showing up in the list?</p>

<p>Is there anything that can be done about this?</p>

<p>This image is Monique 7. I&#39;m seeing this in Genesis 8 as well.</p>

<p>It&#39;s not as easy to find on some skin tones than others, but I need a dark skinned model and this line is really getting in the way of things...</p>

<p>Can this be controlled with lighting, adjusting shaders on the prop, or something?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Since yesterday I&#39;ve been having this problem <strong>when I try to render an image with Iray. The whole machine freezes</strong>, and the only solution is to force reset.</p>

<p>When I try to open the <strong>Nvidia Control panel</strong>, I get the following message:</p>

<p>But still, when I&#39;m on DS, and I have the <strong>viewport set to Nvidia Iray</strong>, it works!</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Does anyone else ever lose the ability to use the Node Selection tool on a figure?</p>

<p>I have a figure that I posed using a combination of partial canned poses and tweaking.&nbsp; For some reason after loading up the scene one day, I can no longer select parts of the figure to move using the Node Selection tool.&nbsp; I can select the character&#39;s hair, but not any part of the body.&nbsp; Tried restarting Studio, rebooting the PC, tried going to the Posing/Shaping tab--nothing worked.&nbsp; The only way I can select any body part to pose is to select the body part from the body hierarchy in the Scene tab.&nbsp; Then I can pose it.</p>

<p>Running Studio 4.8 Pro on Windows 7 x64.&nbsp; Don&#39;t usually have any issues like this, so I&#39;m thinking I may have done something (changed a setting) without realizing it.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Why does this happen every time there is an update to the DIM? None of my smart content works now, all the metadata is gone I guess, or corrupted. Who knows. Whatever the case none of the the stuff in smart content knows what is compatible with anything else. And it all happened after I allowed the stupid DIM to update.</p>

<p>This is exactly why I refuse to update to DS 4.9 and why I still run Win 7 Pro. Updates always break more things than they fix.</p>

<p>I spent days reinstalling everything last time this happened.</p>

In my viewport in Daz, I have Genesis in portrait view, per exemple.But when I render the frame in Reality, she appears in the default position, and not the view set in the viewport.</p>

The current G3 models&nbsp;use addons that aren&#39;t (yet) available for G8, such as Gianni 7, so I&#39;m not sure a conversion is even possible right now. If it is, how? They&#39;re in the data and runtime-support folders in a Windows search of my desktop, but I just don&#39;t see any way to access them from Daz. Please, does anybody know what might be going on here?       <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;m getting a bunch of errors loading the Cityscape set in Stonemason&#39;s&nbsp;<a rel="nofollow" href="https://www.daz3d.com/greeble-city-blocks" target="_blank">Greeble City Blocks</a>&nbsp;in the latest version of DS. This Cityscape loads all blocks into one scene, so you don&#39;t have to add each block and arrange them. Thank you for including this <a rel="nofollow" href="/forums/profile/Stonemason">@Stonemason</a>. Any chance you could include it in your other Greebles sets?&nbsp;<img alt="smiley" src="https://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/regular_smile.png" title="smiley" /></p>

<p>First I get the &quot;Unable to load Scene Items&quot; dialog (my content directories are the default locations):</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hey all,&nbsp;</p>

<p>So here&#39;s what I&#39;m trying to do. I have a saved dialed character that started with Victoria 8. It took a long time to get here, but I think she&#39;s perfect for what I need. :) I don&#39;t need the texture transferred-- just the dialed morphs. Can this character be transferred to and used on a Genesis 2 female? The biggest reason I want to do this is that the V4 poses seem to work pretty well with Gen2, but they&#39;re obviously just not happening at all with Gen8. It seems like this would be a lot easier than trying to convert all the poses from V4 to Gen1 to Gen2 to Gen3 to Gen8... ;) (but if that&#39;s the only way to do it... I could do that too.)</p>

<p>So can the character transfer&nbsp;be done? Would I need to get a script for it? Is there a product that does this? All suggestions appreciated.&nbsp;</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I think this is probably a newbee question, but I&#39;ve look and looked.&nbsp; I bought a room, and I can more camera(s) and the node with all the objects around, but what I would like to do is simply left-right flip the entire scene (highest node).&nbsp; Under Parameters, there is a &#39;symmetry&#39; but it wants to make a symmetrical of a person from a bone.&nbsp; I select an object and it does not work.&nbsp; Sorry for such an elementary questions.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;m always trying to find the right balance between complexity and render speed when rendering scenes. I was wondering what are some things that slow down Iray renders? For instance, when rendering with 3delight I know that transmapped hair can turn a 2 minute render into a 30 minute render or subsurface shading calculations can bring things to a halt. Because of this, I know that if I want to render a sequence of images pretty quickly, these should be avoided.&nbsp;Are there similar examples for Iray?&nbsp;</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I know how to zoom in and out of a scene and change the angle and stuff like that but is there a way to render a scene from the exact same position each time?</p>

<p>For example, let&#39;s say I forgot to include a prop in the scene and I want to re-do the scene from the exact same position that I am in. However, I am going to have to zoom in and out as I position the prop. Is there a way to record exactly what position I did the render from, go off and position the prop and then come back to the exact same position to re-render the scene from the same spot?</p>
