      <description><![CDATA[<p>I hope I am doing something wrong and/or there is a work around. When I autofit some hair&nbsp;models from Genesis 3 to Genesis 8, the morphs stop working. The morph sliders for Styling and Features (like bows or flowers)( are still in the parameters window, but they don&#39;t do anything. In the Autofit dialoque box,&nbsp;I select Genesis 3 Female and then Hair -&gt; Short (or Shoulder length as appropriate).&nbsp; Are there any other options or steps I should&nbsp;be doing?&nbsp; &nbsp;If you have&nbsp;Summer Fun Hair, could you please try it and see if it works for you?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I notice I get very frustrated when I&#39;m working on a scene, and I have to go between posing a character, messing with some sort of shader, then having to go back and load another pose or an expression or whatever.</p>

<p>What&#39;s frustrating is having to navigate all the way back to &quot;shader presets&quot; and then dig through the folders, and then back to &quot;people&quot; then &quot;genesis 8&quot;&nbsp; the &quot;poses&quot; and all that.&nbsp; &nbsp;It&#39;s only a momentary thing, but it&#39;s cumulatively annoying.</p>

<p>So the question is:</p>

<p>Is there any way to program a hotkey for some of those directories?&nbsp; Like a hotkey to the &quot;shader presets&quot; or to the &quot;genesis 8&quot;?</p>

<p>Thanks in advance for any tips, they&#39;d make using the program just a little more pleasant!</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>i can export to obj and reimport to create a morph that alters one aspect of the character such as lets say breast size&nbsp;..this is ok..it works. Now my problem is that&nbsp;if i apply it to a different genesis3f character then the whole body is being effected and not just the breasts which is understandable since its a completely different model. What i would like to do is have the morph work on just the intended vertices in the model of any genesis3 character that i happen to use this morph on so it experiences the same localised change...this should be possible as the veretx number for say the breast area would be the same no matter what which genesis3f character i was using.</p>

<p>idealy i would like one morph slider at the end of the day and not have to do anything extra and fiddley&nbsp;like selecting geometry groups.</p>

<p>So please how do i do this..thanks ??</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;m trying to rig an item that will be a follower fitted to G8F and G3F.</p>

<p>I used the transfer utility but there are some faces that aren&#39;t in the correct face group and get moved when one of the bones moves.</p>

<p>I used the geometry editor to correct the face group, but I&#39;m still having the same problem.</p>

<p>It&#39;s not the weight maps either. I deleted all the weight maps to test it and one of the bones is still moving some of the faces that should be in another face group.</p>

<p>If I don&#39;t fit the item to a figure then it doesn&#39;t seem to happen.</p>

<p>Can anyone help out with this?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>When I launch the program, the splash screen shows up and the application proceeds as usual up to the point it&#39;s building the interface and then nothing appears (with the exception of an icon in the taskbar indicating the application is running). There are no windows or menus displayed at all so there aren&#39;t any setting I can access to make changes in the program configuration.&nbsp;</p>

<p>I uninstalled 4.9 and reinstalled it using the install manager. When I launched Daz3D&nbsp;again, I got the same problem but this time it displayed&nbsp;a postgresql error. I uninstalled that component and reinstalled it. No change. I installed v4.10. No change. I&#39;ve updated graphics drivers. I&#39;ve&nbsp;restarted the system several times.</p>

<p>It&#39;s just a laptop that I&#39;m using, but the application has been running fine up until today. First the keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl-Z, etc)&nbsp;quit working so I shut the program down, went through the steps I explained above and now nothing works at all.</p>

<p>Any help would&nbsp;be appreciated.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I have just found that Predatron&#39;s&nbsp;<a href="https://www.daz3d.com/demonstration-poses-and-props" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">https://www.daz3d.com/demonstration-poses-and-props</a> does not have any of the props listed in the readme file, i.e: Banner, Bullhorn and Placard, which are supposed to be located in &quot;​Props:Personal&quot;, however, no such folder or files were installed using DIM, nor are they in the manually downloaded installer.</p>

<p>There does not seem to be an update, so can anyone confirm or refute this? I have not submitted a ticket yet, in case I&#39;m wrong.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Have a gown mesh with surfaces but how should I use the geometry editor, face, surfaces, regions, and various grouping&nbsp;editors, weight painting, and transfer utility best to turn the gown into functional DAZ clothing? On the gown when I look at UVs for it DAZ Studio in Surfaces says it uses the &#39;Default UVs&#39; for each of the surfaces. It that something the DAZ Studio adds to imported meshes lacking their own UVs?</p>

<p>I have used a Transfer Utility tutorial from DAZ Studio from long ago and SickleYield&#39;s recent G8 to G3 to G8 clothing Transfer Utility tutorial but it&#39;s clear to me after posing G3F in the ground much other work needs to be done to make such a gown &#39;DAZ Studio&#39; posing acceptable.</p>

<p>Can anyone point me to a series of YouTube videos that takes me through all the steps needed to actually make that gown as if I bought it from the DAZ Store as wardrobe?</p>

<p>Also, I tried using the gown in the dForce simulator as it&#39;s shape seems to be an ideal style for the dForce dynamics simular but the gown disappears during simulation and the only way to make it reappear is to clear the simulation data.</p>

<p>See the images below to see the disappearing gown. Also when rendered to see if the gown would show up I got the big surprise not only to the gown not show up but the character in the viewport didn&#39;t show up in the render although the camera is pointing right at the character.</p>

<p>Images 01 - 07 left to right are the dForce simulation and image 8 is a partial view of the surfaces &amp; such transferred to the gown by the Transfer Utility.</p>

<p>I&#39;ve been running a single 8gb 1080 GTX for iRay and still find it painfully slow sometimes. So recently I ordered a 1080 TI (11gb VRAM, more CUDA cores), intending to run them in tandem.</p>

<p>It&#39;s my understanding that, as long as a scene will fit in either card&#39;s memory, the cards will share the load, but&nbsp;if a scene is too big for the GTX, the TI will have to do all the work (Y/N?).</p>

<p>It&#39;s also my understanding that there&#39;s no point in bridging the two cards since the iRay engine (or whatever&nbsp;is responsible) will handle the load-sharing&nbsp;(Y/N?).</p>

<p>I don&#39;t need the extra horsepower for anything else: the few games I still play are well within the GTX&#39;s capabilities, and&nbsp;I intend to make the TI my&nbsp;primary card.</p>

<p>But I know that, come Monday mornng, my computer guy will ask me if I want to bridge the two cards, and I don&#39;t know whether or not to say yes. I&#39;m sure there are&nbsp;other setup considerations that I&#39;m unaware of--my only previous experience with dual cards has been&nbsp;with AMD and Crossfire--so any information would be most welcome.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>In DAZ 4.9 I could export DAZ figures with Reallusion&rsquo;s facial fbx key, import them into 3DXchange, then on to iClone, and the face would be animated.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Since DAZ 4.10 this does not work.&nbsp; 3DX crashes every time I try to import one of the 4.10 figures with the iClone face key.</p>

<p>The experiments thus far:</p>

<p>DAZ 4.10 figure with no animation applied imports into 3DX fine, and then on to iClone fine.&nbsp; Bringing them back into DAZ works.</p>

<p>Old DAZ 4.9 figure with face key applied imports into 3DX fine, and then on the iClone fine.&nbsp; Bringing them back into DAZ works.</p>

<p>Applying any animation at all to 4.10 figure results in a crash.&nbsp; Morphs seem to be ok though.&nbsp; Bringing them back into DAZ does not work.</p>

<p>I uninstalled and reinstalled DAZ.&nbsp; No change</p>

<p>Support suggested that I try the 4.10 beta.&nbsp; The exports still cause 3DX to crash.&nbsp; I reverted back to standard 4.10.</p>

<p>I tried using my Microsoft Surface &ndash; small screen, tiny hard drive and sending files back and forth by usb stick makes this not really usable in the long run, but worth a try.&nbsp; Exporting DAZ 4.10 figures with iClone face key works!&nbsp;</p>

<p>So, this tells me that there is something wrong with one of the files associated with DAZ that didn&rsquo;t get removed and replaced in the uninstall/reinstall or the switch to beta and back.&nbsp; I have given this information to support, but haven&rsquo;t heard back yet.</p>

<p>Does anyone know what I can do to solve this?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Having read enough discussions, I realize that I am not the only one to have problems with the &quot;ACTOR&quot; tab. I loaded Daz onto a brand new laptop and everything was fine. The Actor tab was there. The disaster occured after I added an external runtime. The runtime itself was set up correctly. Everything worked fine and I could load content from my Daz library and my new runtime and the actor tab was there until I shut off the computer. When I fired it back up, I had to remap the Daz content library but the external runtime was fine and everything loaded okay. I thought that everything was fine until I loaded a Genesis figure and in the parameters and the shaping tab the was no Actor tab. I tried uninstalling Daz and reloading it but still no Actor Tab. I then uninstalled Daz using the DIM program and then pulled up the c: drive and did a search for anything DAZ. I then manually deleted every file, folder and item that showed Daz in the name. I reloaded Daz and loaded Victoria 5 and low and behold, in the paramaters tab, there was the actor tab.</p>

<p>Question: This is the second time that I&#39;ve set up an external runtime and the second time that I&#39;ve lost the actor tab after doing so. The external runtime was on my desktop both times and I&#39;m wondering if the runtime location was a problem. I used DIM to reload all of my content but a lot of it is missing like Genesis 2 male and female. It doesn&#39;t show up in the smart content or the content library tab. The las time that this happenned I wound up uninstalling and reinstalling content and this worked but is very time consuming.</p>

<p>I&#39;m working on a Dell Inspiron 17-5765 5000 with 16 Gigs of Ram and 2400 MHZ processor speed. Windows 10 operating system.</p>

<p>I&#39;m new to Daz and would like to find a way to&nbsp;import animations made in other programs to Daz.</p>

<p>I saw some older posts saying that&nbsp;bvh is not supported for genesis 8. I made some tests and it seems to still be true.</p>

<p>Specifically, this is what I did:</p>

<p>-import Genesis8 character to Iclone7</p>

<p>-animate character</p>

<p>-export animation to&nbsp;bvh</p>

<p>-try to import bvh to Daz</p>

<p>Animation in general looks fine, but hands are not aligning. Please see picture I have attached.&nbsp;In Iclone fingers are touching, but in Daz they are not even if rotation limits are off. In bvh import dialog all nodes are aligning perfectly(picture2). I have latest&nbsp;Daz version 4.10.0.123.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Considering this, my question is, if not for&nbsp;bvh import, is there any way to import animations for&nbsp;Genesis 8 at all?</p>

<p>Do you know any&nbsp;workflow how to do it?&nbsp;Maybe using Blender as intermediate or something else. Please share any tips or observations! I have also attached my test bvh file, in case anyone could show how to import it in Daz.</p>

So after a whooole lot of debugging I&#39;ve discovered Iray is reporting incorrect memory usage for geometry.&nbsp; There are a ton of threads where people have reported Iray stops using GPUs and reverts to CPU even when it&#39;s using nowhere near the full VRAM of their GPU.&nbsp; This seems to happen quite a lot when people use displacement&nbsp;since higher displacement subdivision levels are necessary&nbsp;for Daz assets that were created with 3Delight in mind to look good.</p>

<p>Well, it turns out that Iray is using all the VRAM, but it&#39;s just not reporting it.</p>

<p>The way to trigger this is to take an object and see how much VRAM Iray allocates to geometry at base resolution.&nbsp; Multiply by four for each level of subdivision.&nbsp; You can see Iray do this for the first couple levels of subdivision.&nbsp; Once the object begins to pass somewhere around the 150 MB mark it will stop reporting higher levels of subdivision.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>Example: An object requires 10 MB at base resolution.&nbsp; At subdivision level 1 it will require 40 MB.&nbsp; At 2, it will require 160 MB.&nbsp; At 3, Iray will report it at 160 MB, even though it really requires 640 MB.</p>

<p>I&#39;m convinced this is a source of a lot of confusion with regard to Iray reverting to CPU, and it&#39;s bound to happen even more as long as Daz produces HD morphs that require subdivision level 4 for characters.&nbsp; Hopefully someone can do something with this information.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>DAZ is reporting an error (see attached) that my system is only running openGL 1.1. Another application confirms this. However, my system has two Geforce980Ti video cards (which support OpenGL4.5)&nbsp;with the latest driver installed (388.43) which I&nbsp;believe automatically installs OpenGL 4.5.</p>

<p>Reinstalling the driver will usually solve this problem but its a pain in the neck to have to do this on each restart! A reboot will also sometimes work. I have heard that the problem is caused by windows 10 defaulting back to OpenGL 1.1 for some reason.</p>

<p>Does anyone know how to solve this issue?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>This is just for people who may be wondering why iray works fine but dforce doesn&#39;t.</p>

<p>If you have a fermi card then it&#39;s opencl 1.1 while dforce requires 1.2 so you need the cpu driver. While iray works fine with fermi at this stage until they&#39;ll pass to iray 2017.1.x. I feel to post this info because this is not mentioned in the 4.10 discussion. Hope this helps.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hey all,&nbsp;</p>

<p>So I haven&#39;t been using Daz very long (much more time with Poser), and I just started working on some new custom texture files (always fun.) But... the files are all under the names of the creators in Runtime, so&nbsp;the top level folder is not the name of the item. I can&#39;t figure out a way to even halfway easily match the item to the folder only by the artist&#39;s name and then open the files-- without going into every single artist&#39;s name folder individually and clicking it open to see who created what. The only way I&#39;ve found to figure out who created an item is to go into the original order files, click on the item, and then look at the names on the original creator&#39;s page and match them to the item. Going to the item in the content library, right clicking, and finding the duf file obviously has only the name of the item, not the creator.&nbsp;&nbsp;It just seems like there HAS to be an easier way to do this! Any tips or clues???</p>
