(I understand that it is likely that IBLMaster will give most impressive results when using 3Delight)

Anyway, I followed instructions, loaded IBLMaster, it seemed to load ok. The HDRI does not appear to load into the IBLMaster - the mini world globe does not appear at 0.0 - the HDRI appears otherwise as usual.

Loading the IBL lighting causes Iray to restart, as I would expect, but does not appear to affect the light levels in any way.

Are there more detailed instructions than the rather sketchy sheet to load/unload into the scene?

Seasonal good wishes to all.

Hi everyone. I'm kind'a new here and already started having problems. Let me start with my workflow.
I create my model and pose it in DAZ. I make two poses one as the T-Pose other is the final pose. Using Keyframes I create the transition animation aswell. Export the T-Pose and Final Pose as obj's while exporting the animation in the form of COLLADA file.

Open up Marvelous Designer, load up the T Pose and create my outfits on the pose. Switch to COLLADA file, animate the outfit and switch to Final Pose obj to make final adjustments. When I'm happy with the result, simply export the outfit as obj.

There are no problems trough those steps. I can open up DAZ Studio and throw my outfit in and no problem there either. As I've designed it on the custom avatar and exported it after the last touches on Final Pose file, it fits perfectly.
So I decided to Step it up a 'lil bit and texture my outfits. For this purpose I open up my Substance Painter and throw my outfit obj in. No problem. Paint/texture as I desire. No problem either. I export my textures and mesh obj from SP and throw it back to DAZ, whole outfit is still grayed out. As I've searched the web I've discovered that we have to manually input those texture files to DAZ via surfaces tab.
Thats exactly where I struggle. I have no idea which maps I should've exported from SP and after that which map goes where.
When I try to dial them in manually, I always end up with bad results. It would be great if someone can point me to the right direction or better, quickly explain what exports to get from SP and where they go in DAZ.

Thank you for reading people. Hope to find some answers here or else I will stop my journey here.

Full Body Morph File Location?

Hello and thanks for reading. TLDR at the bottom if you don't want all the finer details...

Earlier in the year I created a full body morph for G3F in Zbrush and saved it into a new folder of my own naming. The morph was ERC Frozen after doing an Adjust Rigging to Shape... as the size and bones moved and it would warp horribly when applied if not for that (I'm not really sure what ERC Freeze does, but it worked to solve the problem). I then saved the morph as a Morph Asset. I can see my morph file under the ../Genesis 3/Female/Morphs/<my product>/<my morph>.dsf.

The other day I went to modify this morph and so saved a copy of the .dsf file in the same directory (<my morph>-copy.dsf). I used GoZ to get the figure into Zbrush, made the updates, then on GoZ back I gave it the same morph name and location as the original, then saved it again as a Morph Asset. In the directory I can see the file has the updated timestamp. I saved a Scene Subset of my updated G3F figure in hopes of using this as a new 'base' for future figures.

Oddly, when I load the Scene Subset the figure still has the original morph and not my new change, even though the timestamp of the morph file shows that it was from my recent change. I had also saved the new morphed figure out as an OBJ, so out of curiousity I used Morph Loader Pro and apply it again and the figure changes with the new morph. But nothing I do seems to save the new morph so I don't have to re-load it again via the OBJ on subsequence Scene Subset loads (or merge for that matter).

In trying to understand what's happening behind the scenes, I removed both the new .dsf and the original (<my morph>-copy.dsf) file completely from the directory to a directory outside my DAZ library. Now when I load the Scene Subset the figure loads and gives a message that my morph file is missing (expected). However, my custom folder on the figure is there, and the morph still shows. I can move the slider and the original morph applies! I would think without the .dsf file my figure would not load it at all and I wouldn't even see my custom folder or the morph in it. I've searched the whole DAZ library directory and there is no additional copy of my morph file anywhere. On a side note, if I load a scene subset with two of the figures, the first one has the original morph applied automatically but the 2nd figure is the base G3F. I'm not sure why one would be morphed and the 2nd not.

TLDR:

1) If I save a morph from Zbrush on top of the same named morph, how do I save the new morph so that I don't have to re-load it via Morph Loader Pro by its OBJ every time?

2) After removing all the morph files from the DAZ Library folders, my figures saved as Scene Subsets still show the morph even though Daz says the file is missing. Where's the morph?

If anyone understands what is going on for my two questions I would greatly appreciate the help.

thanks in advance

The question of the skirt

Hi,

I make the skirt through Transfer Utility, which is quite useful. But there is a problem when the model kicks a leg forward, so I usually solve it by applying zbrush to add or modify the JCM of skirt. After solving this problem in left leg, I modify the right leg in the same way. When finishing modifying both of the legs and lifting two legs at the same time, the problem emerged: the back of skirt will swell most often.

Sometimes the leg will penetrate clothes when lifting legs:

I tried to adjust weight map, but the effect is poor. Is there any good solution to these problems?

Another issue is about the armpit. There is a large deformation when lifting arms, which is shown below:

Because the previous G3F applies T-shape posture, so the deformation is smaller. When encountering this problem, I adopted JCM file and adjusted weight map, which presented good effect. But G8F used posture A with large deformation, so the effect of using above methods is not ideal. Do you have any appropriate solution to this problem?

These issues have not been resolved, and any help will be appreciated.

Seems i'm having all kinds of issues today and this is my 2nd discussion.

I'm trying to create a morph for an item of clothing I recently purchased, but its not behaving nicely. I use GoZ to send my figure with the clothing parented to it, edit the clothing in Zbrush, then click GoZ to send it back. On all other things i've done it works fine, however, this time for the first time I get a message that the typology has changed and it wants to know if I want to add as a new object. I don't even have to touch the object in Zbrush, just immediately hit GoZ and it gives the message. I even exported the clothing from Zbrush to an OBJ, then was able to load the OBJ correctly with Morph Loader Pro just fine.

GoZ is much easier, just wondering if anyone knows what may be happening. The clothing is Body Chains by Sshodan.

thanks in advance

Is there a way to hide the plane while maintaining the emission? I tried setting the cutout opacity to a very low number (like, .0001) but, when rendered with the light between the subject and camera, I get A LOT of noise in the render (I'm guessing artifacts from the "barely there" plane.)

Basically, a way to hide the physical plane and make the emission surface work like a spotlight or point light.

Instead, when I was moving part of or the whole figure in DAZ, the shape looks correct, but whenever I stop, it looks wrong again.

Got a question about Smart Content. Is there any way to get Smart Content to display products that are compatible with certain products, but not others? I've found the "Filter by Context" check box and this was a wonderful addition Daz made a few versions back, but once you select it, there's no way to refine the criteria. For example, when looking for masculine clothes for a heroine, I'm either stuck with only Genesis 3 Female or I'm inundated with everything from Michael 3 onward. (No and No. I haven't made the switch to Genesis 8 yet - too broke; I've never actually used M3, but the products were free, so I scooped them up )

Is there any good way to have Content Manager filter down to - say - Genesis 3 Male/Female? So far the best I've done is to just sort by Product ID and not dig too deep down the list.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Something happened to a G3M figure I've been working on. A mere hour ago, I had no trouble posing him in the usual way--click on this or that, make adjustments, etc.--and now only his head and lower abdomen can be activated by a mouse click. Every other body part de-selects the entire figure, which means I would have to slog my way through the entire bone tree to adjust, say, his right middle finger.

Once again I'm mystified, scratching my head & wondering what went wrong & how to cure it. I could rebuild the bloke, though it would take some time, but I'd like to avoid this in the future, if possible.

Thanks in advance!

Hi all,

I've been with this site for I don't even remember how long; I did start buying late but I did follow DAZ since the days of Poser 4 I believe. Forums got wiped clean few years ago, so I don't even have the post number right :P

Got away from Poser, since I moved on 3d game development, and now I did check back the site and noticed that the old game license is gone, replaced by a "per item" license. Lots to digest, so I thought it is easier to just ask here to you folks :)

First: is still possible to get the game license for the old assets made from DAZ? I recall that there was a indie license to use any of the DAZ made assets in game engines like Unity. Or the new license is in place and you can't get the old one anymore? Just wondering if I have to license hundreds of assets or not.

Second: I did abandon poser mostly; and never did play much with DAZ studio, but now I would like to hop on. I am not even sure if I can use the old assets that I bought ages ago with it (like V3, V4, A3 and such); do they work out of the box or do I have to dig an old Poser copy and use that for the old assets?

Third: can I re-purpose the old assets for V3, V4, A3, A4, M3, M4 and such; on new figures? Got a ton of assets for these figures; and would be nice to be able to use them on a new figure. Poser used to have something called "wardrobe wizard" which would modify the assets so they would fit on many figures; although no poser no utility; plus it is ancient so I would not even think that it would work out of the box.

The idea here is to consider if I should use DAZ items for game development; both from the perspective of new items+license per item, and from the perspective of an old user that has a ton of unlicensed (for game usage) stuff, that would like to not throw it away :) I did try Morph3d; although it is too much of a hassle to deal with the limited assets available; plus they do not have anime figures; or toon figures; which reduce the creative freedom.

I can get assets for Unity or Unreal that are made for that purpose; so the aim here is to get something that looks nice, and at the same time does not take me too much time, to be imported in Unity or Unreal engine; keeping an eye on the costs of course.

Thanks in advance for any info you may give.

Hi!

I've figured out the basics of working with UDIMs in a texturing program as well as Blender, in working with Gen 8 figures. Basically all I would like to know is are there any limitations to using UDIMs for rendering in IRAY within Daz Studio for wearables and props? Are merchants already doing this? If so are there any caveats or reasons why it would be better to work with a basic 0-1 UV space? In my upcoming projects it would be nice to eke out as much texel density as I can.

Just in thinking about it in terms of how I bake my textures in blender on other projects in the past, using cycles nodes to apply them, I cannot help wondering if there would be something additional I would have to do with the actual shader in Daz to have it apply maps on the correct uv region (0-1, 1-2 etc.). I can do this manually if need be, doing the math in my 3d program and translating the uvs (i.e. in a 256x256 uv space I select my UVs for that object and translate x-positive by 256, now those islands are on UDIM 1002)

As long as my UVs are consistent throughtout the texturing and modelling process then I should be fine?

So I've got DS on 2 different personal PCs.

Both machines have identical libraries set through DIM. I tell it where to put stuff when it installs stuff, and it does what I tell it.

However, this is something I've only just realized is not normal:

Whenever I load even the Base G2 Female on one machine, certain morphs are already set that I have to manually zero.
On the other machine, when I load the Base G2F, these same settings are already at 0 where they should be.

So basically I'm not getting the Base G2F on one machine, but a slightly tweaked one. This makes me wonder if I'm even getting the correct G2F Characters (Vicky 6, Lilith, Mei Lin, etc), or if they're also slightly tweaked.

Surely the CPU/GPU/RAM have nothing to do with this. It has to be something "stuck" in one installation, but what?
