This creates a really undesirable effect when rendering PNGs or canvases with alpha when using bloom. See the image below for an example:

Hi Guys,

Long time user but first time poster. Reason? I usually (spelled always) buy my stuff from Daz Store and it generally works fine. However, I need body hair for a special female character and could not find it on Daz, so, i reluctantly went to Renderosity and found what I needed and down loaded the .Zip file. It contains a Data folder, A Documentation folder and a People folder. I've tried everything I know, Loaded the folders to My Daz Libraries in Data, Documenttion and People - nothing. tried putting the zip file into directories- nothing. Since there's not an installer, I need help.

I am a writer of fiction and use my Daz to create my book characters so that I can fashion my own covers. This special character is a wild, giant woman (12'6") will all the hair she was born with. I need this content or Daz needs to offer full body hair for women. I would prefer that anyway. I've bought thousands worth of Daz content and it buggs me when I cannot find what I want. Please Daz, give us good, HD body hair for females. I'll but it instantly. In the mean time, how can I load this thing?

I'm sure what i'm having an issue with is something simple and that i could be overlooking something...but i'm not sure on that either lol so basically i loaded up a pre-existing character to start with, it loaded and i seen it for a second...and then it was there but not showing up...sort of..it's parts are in the scene tab and can be highlighted but otherwise it shows as if it's invisible or something even though it's there...i have the eye icon on all the items etc in all of the scene showing as checked and on, but i still can't see the figure and items it has. It's kind of like the image i'm going to show where i just loaded up a basic g3f figure to check and see if it was just that one pre-made character or all of my characters..seems to be anything i load, it loads shows things for a second or two and then gives me what's in the image. Did i accidentally hit something i'm not aware of or what? Any help with this is apprciated lol.

Hello everyone,

After a long time away from Daz, I've just returned to give a shot at Genesis 3 and was very pleased to see the new facial rig.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to export facial expression as a pose yet. When I export as fbx, the expression is baked on the mesh instead of exported as animation on the skeleton. I didn't find a way to undo this. Is this possible? Are there options that I can't see either in Daz or the FBX exporter that would allow me to export the positions/rotations of the facial bones instead of baking the expression on the mesh? (I've been trying with visemes).

I've also tried the bvh exporter but the expression is not fully exported, only the bones rotations are exported, not the bones translations.

Any idea on how to achieve the export of a facial expression?

Thanks for your help.

I'm very new to DS rigging, so I'd like to ask for any wisdom you may have to offer.

Let's say I'm rigging a boardgame spinner which consists of a base that supports an arrow or Wheel of Fortune type spinning wheel. I envision one bone that acts like the center pin connecting the arrow to the base, whose twist is set to react to the Y Rotation parameter dial.

I'm trying to follow Jen Greenlees' tutorial on rigging a pair of pliers, since the pliers also consist of two parts connected by a pin, but I'm having some difficulty. Once I finish weight mapping the Y Rotation for the arrow part, no other transforms work on the base anymore. One could not, for example, depict my spinner stuck up on a wall, because it no longer reacts to X or Z rotation. I'm certainly missing or misunderstanding something.

Just as background information, I created my spinner as two separate objects in Blender, exported the parts as .OBJ files, and loaded the geometry for both parts into the dialog where you parent the bones. Then I dragged the arrow "bone" up so it became a child of the base, fixed all the names, clicked the Create button, and proceeded to do my weight mapping.

Over the years, I have installed a lot of content and I have kept the packages in DIM. To free up disk space, I want to remove the the DIM packages I did not delete on installation. I am considering options and looking for information on how to move them without corrupting DIM (index) files.

I want to move the packages to an external disk, but I am not sure I need to. If I delete the packages, can I download them again later if needed? (i.e. new machine, disk failure, or other)

If I keep them, I need to put them on an external drive to reduce internal disk space consumed. If I simply move them over, I am not sure what this will do to DIM. If I change the "Download To" path in DIM and then move them, will this work?

If the recommended path is "you don't need to keep them", then what is safe method to delete them after they have been installed without the "Delete Package on Installation" box checked? (Simply delete them?)

Lastly, If I remove them (safely) and then I uninstall a package from DAZ, will the item show up in my "Ready to Download" list again? IF not, do I have to manually downlaod the item to get it back?

I appreciate any advice. I thought it was better to ask before I break DIM than having to ask how to fix it later. :)

When IRAY came out I was excited because I had a GTX960 NVIDIA card. I had a new custom built system in 2015. But right at first, IRAY required a lot of shader changing and I thought nah. Then Terra Dome 3 came out and I had to have that. I think it was maybe Studio 4.8 back in 2016? IRAY crashed my system a lot and they told me that it was a bug that was being fixed after waiting forever for an answer. I pretty much never really messed with IRAY again b/c when I did nothing I tweaked on worked well...

I didn't do a bunch of renders in 2017 until recently when I started working on my comic and decided to switch to G3 from V4/Poser. I've been plugging away like usual in my 3Delight world...then that dang IBL Master came out. Turns out I can run IRAY now and my 3Delight is a lot quicker with that product. For the last few days I have been trying to work in IRAY with the IBL master and other things. A lot of my IRAY renders are pretty good and render in under 6 minutes. I think I'm just using default settings. I don't actually know, but there appears to be different tabs now than when I last explored it??? I haven't really touched much of them.

Short and the long of it, the link above, is an example of a problem I'm having with IRAY and all I can think to call it is noise or grain. I need some help in understanding WHAT I should be tweaking on to make that go away or if it is just a problem you have sometimes. These are top quality IRAY skins/characters from Rendo so it should not be a poor product design.

It's like it wasn't cooked long enough to get all the fuzz out, but I can't figure out how to make it go a little big longer, but not for hours on end. I've researched and asked in a few places, but no real reply. I am thinking a tutorial from 2015 wouldn't be all that helpful for IRAY settings in 4.10. Or maybe it would? Funny thing is, I've always liked HDRI light, but I have these same kind of fuzzy issues sometimes with 3Delight and HDRI sets. I asked for help on that before too a long time ago and didn't get any guidance other than use better character skins. HDRI, for me, always seemed to give the most impressive results. That bright white, realistic light. Surely somebody else has had these issues and knows what I am talking about :) I also had a weird problem with "white squares" showing up in one of my IRAY renders using the new Ultimate HDRI Environment sets I picked up. Maybe the scene file is just corrupted? But I work a lot from scene files since I have to save and come back to stuff.

I want to be able to use IRAY consistently as well as 3Delight. Can you point me to something comprehensive yet easy for a newbie to understand on what I need to do in IRAY to make these grainy things go away? Is there a really good product that you use that helps you without a lot of waiting around or real knowledge? I don't render huge files. Mostly 1650 to 2000 on any one side. They are usually under 3,000 on either side.

I just feel like I'm running around spinning my wheels in sand trying to understand what to do and why. It's like when I started in Poser and had to learn how to move all those dials. I don't even know the proper terminology for what I'm trying to find either!

I just need to know if there is a way to fix this, how to do it, or if maybe I'm just being overly criticial? Thank you in advance!

Since installing Daz Studio 4.10 I've noticed the following in my logs.

Context: IRAY render of moderately complex scene (image attached). My rig is a Windows 10 64-bit system with 64 gigs of ram and dual Nvidia GEForce Titan X with 12 gigs VRAM each (max 12 gigs usable). 10.7 gigs in use during the render according to GPU-Z which I always have running to monitor my video cards. I set DAZ Studio to use CPU and video card 1 only so that I could isolate the work being done and memory used to my IRAY render process.

Every iteration that writes a log entry also writes the following:

2017-10-27 17:06:09.511 WARNING: dzneuraymgr.cpp(307): Iray ERROR - module:category(IRAY:RENDER): 1.6 IRAY rend error: CUDA device 1 (GeForce GTX TITAN X): May not have enough memory available to execute CUDA kernel (estimated 176.597 MiB).
2017-10-27 17:06:09.512 WARNING: dzneuraymgr.cpp(307): Iray ERROR - module:category(IRAY:RENDER): 1.6 IRAY rend error: CUDA device 1 (GeForce GTX TITAN X): out of memory (while allocating memory)
2017-10-27 17:06:09.512 WARNING: dzneuraymgr.cpp(307): Iray ERROR - module:category(IRAY:RENDER): 1.6 IRAY rend error: CUDA device 1 (GeForce GTX TITAN X): Failed to allocate 25.8252 MiB

There's over 1 gig available in the video card, and I've never seen these errors before. I rendered this exact scene yesterday using DAZ Studio 4.9 with no errors or warnings in the logs.

I'm thinking something was introduced in v4.10 that might have changed the way DAZ Studio communicates with the video cards during IRAY renders. While this is not a show stopper per se, it is alarming because I often render larger scenes and rely on DAZ Studio to communicate effectively with my cards.

Has anyone else seen this?

Hi,

The original Genesis figure had a neutral gray material preset.

Genesis 2 and 3 do not have this.

I have applied the neutral gray material to some Genesis 2 figures successfully but not to any Genesis 3 figures.

Is there a simple way to have my Genesis 2 and 3 figures always load with the neutral gray material as the default skin colour?

There are lots of discussions on getting more and more realistic skin colours but I only want the plain gray for everything as I use DAZ for base figure sculpting

in ZBrush and not for rendering at all. I have never needed to know anything about all of the skin shaders as I've never used them. I only want neutral gray.

Thanks for any solutions offered.

Hi All!

I've got too much content and am having to transfer my files to my server. I pulled the files from the "My DAZ 3D Library" and placed them on the server. I directed the "Content Files Install To" on my DIM to said folder on the server. I also adjusted the line item in my Content Directory Manager to the appropriate folder.

When I try to download and install new content from my DIM, I get this message "The path specified in the "show details" area, on the "ready to install" page, is not currently available." It then asks me to make sure I am connected to the drive and that my computer recognizes the drive. I am connected to my server, that's easy to know. I feel like I'm missing something here. My server isn't a "drive" it has no label like C, D, E, etc. Is that the issue? Or is it something else?

Any help would be most appreciated.

I sent this all to Daz Support hoping to get some assistance back from GoFigure but nothing fruitful from that yet. I'll post my issues here and maybe Sven or someone else can help out. A couple of these have already been answered in another thread.

It was my intention to purchase the full Animate2 plugin if the KeyMate plugin worked out for me. Honestly, I really wanted to be able to do all of this inside of Daz Studio but I spent an enormous amount of time trying to do what should be very simple stuff. The most serious problems I ran into other than the one I have reported I will list below.

1) Keys get added on Timeline even though I am only using KeyMate. Strange behavior would occur during my animation development and there were no keyframe showing in KeyMate where the behavior occurred. I finally learned about these keys that were added to the Timeline so at least I can go and delete them now. I shouldn't have to flip over to the Timeline at all. I should be able to see everything in KeyMate.

2) Invisible keys. I have sequences where I have two poses separated by several empty frames. There are movements that occur as if there is an additional key in between my two poses. There is no key showing on either KeyMate nor Animate. If I change my two poses to be identical, meaning there should be no movement in between them, the movement still occurs as if there is an invisible key.

3) It is painful to try to separate the Animation from the Character or to isolate specific parts of the Animation. For example, I wanted to just save the Animation for the Upper Body. I was able to do it, but it was very painful and took several attempts to get it right. Also, I want all of my Animations to be able to be Targeted to whatever Character I want later. It should be easy to save just the Animation and not the Character specific stuff.

4) I created several basic Animations such Breathing & Winking and saved them as AniBlocks. If I have my Character selected and hover over the AniBlock, everything looks fine. If I add one of them to my sequence in Animate, it works fine. ... but if I try to use a second one, everything goes to hell. This happens when I have two AniBlocks at the same time and even when I have them sequenced one after the other. They shouldn't impact each other at all.

5) As soon as I create an AniBlock, the KeyMate stuff is unusable. If there is a problem with the Animation when it gets turned into an AniBlock, there is not a way to go back. You can't Undo back to where you were. The only way to survive this is to have saved your Scene right before creating the AniBlock.

6) Sometimes I create an animation in KeyMate using one Character and then find that I need to use it on another Character where it needs to be refined. If I merge my other Character into the Scene, I can't find a way to copy the Keys to the second Character. It would also work if I were able to replace the original Character but I don't see how to do that. I've tried creating a Character Preset thinking that I might be able to handle it that way but ran into preset issues, so I have been saving my Characters as Scene Subsets instead.

It seams i have a serious problem here...

I modified one of my beloved Gen8 figures yesterday. Loaded her in DAZ this day and when i wanted to delete here out of the scene DAZ crashed. Ok i restarted and again ... I loaded her with other clothes i had fit to her and DAZ crashed again when i wanted to delete her. I tryed to find the reason why DAZ is crashing and loaded several other figures in. GEN 3 and GEN8. Everything is fine. Figures from my other scenes also behave like normal. When i load her old version (new one was moprhed) she also deletes fine. Problem now is ... i cant rebuild her exactly because i cant delete her from any scene when loaded in.

I checked the error log and found a flood of morphs DAZ couldnt find. In fact ... this should be all GEN8 morphs i have installed. If her old version wouldnt work fine, and all my other GEN8 wouldt work fine, i would think that there is something wrong with the morphs. But it seems that this particular girl is somehow "broken. If this wasnt a big problem for me i wouldnt bother to ask for help. Anybody an idea how i can solve this mystery?

Once you have loaded many items in your content library, is there any way to move them about into a different order?

I made a new Female Category Directory and wanted to put in amongst the other Female catagories, but it always puts it at the bottom of the list.

It would be great if I can change it without having to reload all the Directories in the order I want.

Hey everyone, I'm back to pick the brains of the experts!

An issue just recently started:

I do a lot of rendering in Intermediate OpenGL, and up until a few days ago, it worked great!

Now, for reasons I'm not sure of, there seems to be an issue whereby the eyes of the G3F figure render opaque white and the eyelashes render opaque black but ONLY when rendering with Intermediate OpenGL. I have tried multiple textures and they all behave the same. When rendeing in regular OpenGL, or Iray, the eyes look as expected.

This happens with any texture set.

I have attached some images to help illustrate.

Screenshot 1: Character loaded with Genevieve 7 textures. Everything looks fine.
OpenGLRender: Character loaded with Genevieve 7 textures. Rendered in normal OpenGL, everything is fine
IntOpenGL Render.jpg: Character loaded with Genevieve 7 textures. Rendered in Intermediate OpenGL, Eyes are opaque white, lashes are opaque black
Screenshot 2: Character loaded with different textures. Everything looks fine.
OpenGLRender2.jpg: Character loaded with different textures. Rendered in normal OpenGL, everything is fine
IntOpenGLRender2.jpg: Character loaded with different textures. Rendered in Intermediate OpenGL, Eyes are opaque white, lashes are opaque black

Any help is greatly appreciated!
