      <description><![CDATA[<p>So far i have managed to export a fractal object and clean it up in meshlab....its imported into a DAz scene and i have added a texture map to the whole object.</p>

<p><br />
Next, if possible i would like to split up the object so it has 3 or 4 different regions so that can have different textures. just like you can on a mannequin.<br />
I read somewhere i need to &#39;convert prop to figure&#39; then open geometry editor and then use joint editor to add bones.</p>

<p><br />
i managed to convert prop to figure and it adds a hip...but i am a bit stuck at the next part... i can&#39;t find either the joint editor or a geometry editor.<br />
any advice on how to proceed? ..thanks!</p>

<p>I also noticed it gave below error in log file.</p>

<p>Here&#39;s my Render settings in a nutshell. I do have lighting in the scene and not really using the headlamp of the camera. I have Depth of vield on.</p>

<p>Filter options: Noise degrain Radius 3.0 / Noise degrain Blur 18</p>

<p>Max samples 800</p>

<p>Render Quality set to off</p>

<p>It took 2hrs 26s ... What do i need to change to get it better looking?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Is the &quot;!Vascularity <strong>All </strong>Controller&quot; for <a rel="nofollow" href="https://www.daz3d.com/vascularity-hd-for-genesis-8-female-and-male" target="_blank">Vascularity HD for G8FM</a> supposed to skip the Head, Face, and Back? They aren&#39;t listed in&nbsp;parameter settings so I suspect so, but when I saw the &quot;All&quot; in the controller name I thought it was a single master slider that affected the entire figure, head to toe. Just checking.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I haven&#39;t seen any other posts about this, so I&#39;m assuming it isn&#39;t a general issue, but all day today I&#39;ve been getting eye watering download speeds from Daz of 5-10kbps.</p>

<p>Bought 2 items yesterday and tried to download today via Install Manager - one item was only 26Mb and downloaded slowly, but got there eventually. The other is 251Mb and downloaded to 35% before I wanted to use DS, so I stopped the download in case there was any issue having something install while using DS. I just tried resuming the download now, about 7 hours later, and the speeds are still at a crawl. Then it occured to me to just skip the DIM and go to my account and download the package manually. No luck. The speed is exactly the same downloading directly. To make matters worse, doing that seems to have reset the 35% I&#39;d already managed to get through DIM, so now it&#39;s started again from zero.</p>

<p>There&#39;s no problem with my internet connection - I&#39;m getting full download and upload speeds, and browsing or downloading from any other site is fine (as is browsing the Daz site, it&#39;s only the download speeds that are the problem). Since I have no current interest in G8, I haven&#39;t installed any of this week&#39;s updates for DS or the new DIM filters etc. Still on DS version 4.9.3.166 64bit and DIM 1.1.0.67. So, nothing has changed since I last downloaded a couple of new purchases on thursday.</p>

<p>I&#39;m inclined to not update stuff that&#39;s working perfectly well if I don&#39;t have to, after turning a perfectly good iPad 2 into a laggy, barely usable piece of cr*p by needlessly installing ios9 on it.</p>

<p>Just wondering if anybody else is having slow downloads today, even if they&#39;re not as bad as mine?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Remember the old-style shoe boxes that had a separate box and lid? Imagine how you might take just the lid, which has a large horizontal top face and four thin vertical side faces, and flatten it to make one flat piece of cardboard. You&#39;d flip it upside down on the table, tear the four corners, and fold the side faces down to lay flat with the top face.</p>

<p>In Blender I have modeled a mat (a piece of carpet) that is conceptually identical to that shoebox lid with top and sides but no bottom. The only differences are that the vertical sides of the mat are very tiny, and there are extra edges in my model&#39;s faces for mesh regularity and reinforcement. To UV map the object, Blender has several modes to choose from, but I can&#39;t figure out how to get any* of them to simply unfold the model without distorting faces. (*There is an undesirable &quot;lightmap pack&quot; mode which keeps all the faces proportional, but scatters them around like a jigsaw puzzle, making the model extremely difficult to texture with a 2D paint program.) Whether I select the sides to UV map separately or just mark four seams on the corners where you would tear the shoebox lid, the perfectly rectangular sides unwrap into long octogons that are <em>huge </em>in proportion to the rest of the model. (See image.)</p>

<ul>
	<li>Is there any way to tell Blender to avoid distorting faces whenever possible, and keep everything proportional?</li>
	<li>If not, is there any other UV mapping software you could recommend that does a better job simply unfolding models such as this, where you want to keep things regular, connected, and proportional?</li>
</ul>

<p>I have attached a view of one of the box corners in an extreme closeup. You can see that I have added edges to reinforce sharpness in DAZ Studio, since it doesn&#39;t respect the &quot;sharp&quot; edge setting Blender can apply. The distance to the reinforcement lines might give you a clue as to how far in we&#39;re zoomed, and how very thin the vertical sides are supposed to be in relation to the rest of the model.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I got a free 3rd party character preset and I tried to load it onto G3F. It came out all distorted, stretched out super tall (see the attached screen capture).</p>

<p>The designer&rsquo;s instructions state that I should leave the limits on when I apply the preset.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>My problem is that either:</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>1. I don&rsquo;t know how to leave the limits on for this particular preset.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>Or</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>2. The preset no longer works on recent updates of Daz Studio.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>ELABORATION ON CASE 1: When I loaded the preset, I was expecting a pop-up window to appear, giving me the option to leave limits on or turn them off. After all, I get this pop-up window frequently when applying poses, for example. But no such pop-up window appeared. I was never given a chance to leave the limits on. And this leads me to suspect that there is some other way to leave the limits on, a way I don&rsquo;t yet know about, applicable to special things like this particular preset.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>ELABORATION ON CASE 2: But if case 1 isn&rsquo;t so, then the reason the pop-up window did not appear must be that at some point either the preset, or DAZ Studio, changed such that they are no longer compatible. They apparently once WERE compatible. The download page has plenty of &ldquo;thank-you&rdquo; comments from satisfied users.</p>

<p>Anyway, I seek some help here. Maybe someone else with the current updated DAZ Studio can download it and try to apply it, to at least verify the existence of my problem.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I purchased Render Trottle two weeks ago. It shows under my purchases and in my products but it does not show up in install manager. I need to know how to get it to show in install manager or what install path I should use if i do it manually. I have tied to use the install manager button on the purchased page of the item, but that does nothing. I have sent a request ticket to Daz two weeks ago and still have no answer. Last time I sent off a request for help it took about a month to get an answer, I dont want to wait that long. If some one from Daz looks at this post please work on your costmer support it is infuriating and needs to be improved.</p>

<p>If anyone has been able to get this product to work please look at the installed path and copy it for me so I will know where to put it. I have been able to down load manuelly but I dont know where to put it.&nbsp;</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I want to take a complicated Dasz figure or object and effectively REDUCE the amount of detail in the object. So that it looks similar, but loses fine&nbsp;details.</p>

<p>I&#39;m not asking about memory reduction or making a LoRes copy/version.</p>

<p>It could be something to do with SubD and lessening the ...not really sure.</p>

<p>For example, if I had a dress with LOTS of folds and creases and buttons and embroidery, I&#39;d like to convert that dress to the same dress with less wrinkles and folds and a less detailed surface.</p>

<p>Any ideas on how to do this?</p>

<p>It&#39;s not&nbsp;Decimator or Scene Optimizer I&#39;m looking for.</p>

<p>I want to take a remote controlled car, with all those details and reduce it to a &#39;mold of the car&quot; like it was carved out of clay/wood.</p>

<p>Got a new computer a couple weeks ago. &nbsp;Decided to do a complete clean re=instal of all my Daz files. &nbsp;Thats still going on. &nbsp;But I wanted to see what I could do with whats installed already. &nbsp;Anyway, First time opening Daz on the new computer I get. &quot;Connecting to Daz 3d requires a valid connection to a PostgreSQL CMS database. &nbsp;A connection could not be established.&quot; &nbsp;I don&#39;t have a firewall turned on or any AntiVirus software installed. &nbsp;There used to be a way to turn on, and off the CMS. &nbsp;But if its still there I can&#39;t find it. &nbsp;Any ideas how to fix this? &nbsp;I&#39;m on an Imac running 10.13.3</p>

<p>starting today (2/17/18) Daz studio stopped fully loading, the preview window never initializes, and the program never truly crashes.&nbsp; it just never loads.</p>

<p>I&#39;m running an nvidia 1060, and though recently I upgraded the driver to the 390 family, I just downgraded to 373.</p>

<p>I&#39;ve uninstalled and reinstalled Daz studio, don&#39;t know what to do next!</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>After testing this out, I have discovered what causes the viewport to show flashing colours on certain props in the texture shaded drawstyles. It appears to occur when the shader is not using &quot;Iray Uber&quot; as a base. For example some of Stonemason&#39;s props use a &#39;Overlay Skin Shader&#39;, And Tesla 3D corp uses ones names after the prop it&#39;s sitting over. Daz doesn&#39;t understand what these are and instead starts glitching.</p>

<p>However here is a temporary fix I discovered.</p>

<p>Select the object with the glitch using the Surface Selection Tool, go to the surfaces tab&nbsp;and make a note of the&nbsp;&#39;base color&#39;, this will be important later.</p>

<p>With the object still selected, go to Shader Presets and open up Iray &gt; Daz Uber, select the &#39;Iray Uber Base&#39;. This will reset the original shader into something DAZ recognises.</p>

<p>Go back to the suraces tab and under the &#39;base color&#39; choose the texture that you noted earlier.</p>

<p>Now the screen shouldn&#39;t have flashing colours. Unfortunately this will have to be done to everything that flashes and everytime you open the scene but it&#39;s better than the nothing coming from DAZ right now.</p>

<p>Everything is working fine, except for the hands... something extremely weird and Carpenter&#39;s-The-Thing-like happens when I try to pose her hands and fingers.<br />

What am I missing? Is this something due to the bones? How to fix that and give her an human form?<br />

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hello,&nbsp; I may be the only one who&#39;s had this issue, but on the off chance I&#39;m not here&#39;s something I realized:</p>

<p>If you&#39;re having problems getting tabs to anchor where you want them on a second monitor, the issue might be due to the Scaling setting in Display Settings.&nbsp; If the monitors are using different settings for Scaling, the tabs will seem to jump sideways or move off-screen when you drag them off the main monitor.&nbsp; I&#39;m guessing this is because Daz Studio is using the main monitors Scaling settings, which are exaggerated on the second monitor.</p>

<p>The solution is to use the same Scaling settings on both screens.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Here&#39;s a screenshot of the Display Settings</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>So I am making some models based off the greyliens base model, basically greylien with flames for hands and modded head. -- I haven&#39;t been able to get clothing/armor to fit on it correctly unless I start with the base model without modifying the arms. But if I just apply whatever to it before modifying (or modifying pose), then after clothing is on, I then cut off hands with the geometry editor, things work fine. (at least for the session I&#39;m in)</p>

<p>(When I apply the clothing I click genesis 3 male, accept, for all items,which seems to work as long as pose is default and no geometry modifications)</p>

<p>Problem is, I just reloaded one of my scenes where I had cut off the hands and now the clothing isn&#39;t fit correctly at all. (not just arms, it&#39;s like the suit is there before trying to fit to character).</p>

<p>How do I stop this from happening and or is there any way to salvage the work I&#39;ve lost?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I have been using Daz for a few years now with little problem. This morning it stopped working and now all it will do is give me blocky looking stick figures.&nbsp; I tried re-installing Daz 4.10 but that does not seem to fix the problem any. Please if someone can give me detailed instructions on how to fix this I would be very grateful.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[Followed advice somewhere here and I had to change the mesh resolution to zero and export as obj with and without morphs, loaded with morph loader pro no problems. Import to blender without morph obj and with morph morph obj removed the stuff I didn't need from with morph obj form without morph obj. Used crl j with I was informed that's how you combine figures in blender, export as obj loaded with morph loader and got geometry did now match error. Is what I'm trying to do impossible or somethine? I even inported and exported keep very order but that might have made it worse.]]></description>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I have a room prop.&nbsp; Nice room with walls, floor, fireplace, and so on.&nbsp; But it is one solid object.&nbsp; I&#39;d like to be able to turn off certain walls/windows so I can get better camera positions.&nbsp; I noticed in Geometry editor\Geometry Selection\Select By\Face Groups, there is a perfect list of all the things I would like to be their own object. (Floor, Glass1, Glass2, Walls1, Walls2, and so on.)&nbsp; Is there a way I can convert all these face groups into their own objects, like the original room is?</p>

<p>I am aware of a long, tedious way of selecting a single face group, deleting everything else, saving, and repeating, but I don&#39;t want to do this dozens of times.&nbsp; Anyone know an easier route?&nbsp; Thanks!</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Ok before i lay down my problem a quick sum up of my hardware:</p>

<ul>
	<li>i7-4770K CPU</li>
	<li>asroc xtreme 4 board</li>
	<li>Samsung SSD (Here runs Daz on)</li>
	<li>WD HDD</li>
	<li>16GB DDR3 Ramm 4x4GB (G.Skill Ripjaws 1600)</li>
	<li>Geforce GTX 1070 8GB</li>
</ul>

<p>This may not be a top of the line pc but it isn&#39;t a bad one as well. The max my motherboard supports is 32 GB, i can&#39;t add i need to fully replace.</p>

<p>In some renders my pc allways gets to 97-99% of my memory and really cluthers up my pc i can here my harddrive going in overdrive to work the swapfile. In a few ocassions daz was even closed down to memory issues.</p>

<p>What i have noticed is that hair often is the issue (sometimes skin shaders). I am working on a scene with 6-7 people in it and im afgraid to hit the render button. :)</p>

<p>Is there a way to optimize this or should i just cough up 250 buck and get 32GB... I really dont want to invest this money in Ramm but i really want my renders/daz3d to run a bit smoother on the larger scenes.</p>

<p>Once it finaly starts rendering the render times arent that bad. But it would be nice that i could some small task when waiting for a render in stead of closing every background program to freee up some excessive memory.</p>

<p>I am also going to look up more into batch rendering so i can do renders while i sleep.</p>

<p>Any advise or insights...?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&lsquo;m not sure if DAZ3d has the capability to do this...</p>

<p>I want to render some assset. E.G. a&nbsp;bald character asset with a transparent&nbsp;and some wigs for this head of the charakter.</p>

<p>If I add hair to character and make the head transparent, the result is that the hair is complitly visible. But what I want that where the invisible head is the hair is not viisble too (cropped out).</p>

<p>Is this in DAZ possible?<br />

I cloud set head color green or black and remove the head in photo shop. But the result is not ideal and it&lsquo;s time consuming.</p>

I understand that there are no icons, I need to use the dials themselves. But in scanning through all the hundreds of dials, I can&#39;t find these grouped anywhere.</span></p>

<p><span>I checked and did not see a readme. Could someone help me out?</span></p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;m not sure if it&#39;s possible or not, but here&#39;s what I want to do. There&#39;s one character from the Kalea 7 pack that I have, I think the name&#39;s Halina, who doesn&#39;t have any tattoos. I like that skin color, but I like the tattoo from the other character, Lilnoe I think. When I tried to apply the tattoo from Lilnoe to my character, the skin color changed on the mid section so I have mismatching skin colors. Is there any way to apply the tattoo without changing the skin color?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hi, I&#39;ve bought various face masks but they&#39;re never the right shape I need for the characters I&#39;m trying to replicate and don&#39;t offer any morphs or options to change them. For an eye mask I just took the fitted mask and altered it in Blender, imported it back etc. That worked out okay. But the one I&nbsp;need now covers part of the model&#39;s cheeks as well so having a static obj doesn&#39;t allow for the movement involved in facial expressions. Is there any way I can maybe shape a head geoshell to be the shape of the mask I want or is there another better way of creating a particular shaped face mask that can have its own surface?</p>
