Okay. I admit it. I did something stupid and messed things up a little and I need help getting me out of this.

I bought a new, larger HD for my DS content library because I was running out of space. So, after installing the new drive I copied my content library over to the new drive and set about pointing DS's preferences to the library on the new drive. That works fine but somewhere along the way I messed something up and now everytime I open DAz Studio I get the messege you see attached.

I'm not sure but the error may be coming from a seperate issue. Originally I was going to clone my C: drive to the new drive so I was uninstalling things I never use. When I saw "one drive" I thought it was a Microsoft cloud drive I don't use so I uninstalled it. Perhaps that is what the error messege is pertaining to? Perhaps this "one drive" was something DS was using and I should not have uninstalled it?

While rigging a cape-like thing, I added split some bones and redid the weight maps on the left side. At a couple of points in the process, I used the symmetry feature that comes up in the weight mapping tool when you right click and Edit Weights (Daz is occupied doing a sim right now, so i can't look up the exact menu name). I selected whole figure, X axis, left to right, make bones is missing (or soemthing close to that)…and didn't get mirrored maps. My geometry is symetrical along the X-axis, and some of the bones get relfected properly. Is this because I used extra bones? Is there a way I can fix it? I'd hate to have the sides move different with the same settings, but I couldn't manually paint them identically.

Okay, here's the thing. I created a clothing item with spikes on the sleeves, and employed Rigidity Maps so that the spikes keep their shape regardless of the morphs used on the character wearing said costume. And up until now, this has worked very well. However, I have recently encountered a problem.

When morphed to a certain extreme, the spikes begin to...for want of a better word, detach from the main costume. Now I've tried created morphs to compensate as well as creating more reference points for the spikes, and all I did was make the problem even worse. If anybody can offer any suggestions, I would be greatly appreciative.

Included are pics of the spikes in question. One pic of when the figure is at its default shape, and the other when heavily morphed.

Controlling Orthogonal Camera Frame Size?

I might be missing something terribly obvious here, but I have the following problem In DS 4.10: I want to fit my camera frame size x (with perspective OFF) to any exact length l of an object. I suspect there's some basic geometry involved here, but I don't seem to be sure what it is that the camera settings actually do on the orthogonal camera.

More specifically, say I have a 100x100 metres plane, and I want to fit the camera frame exactly to the edge of the plane, so a 100x100 pixels render will yield exactly 1 pixel per metre in my final image. Using auto-frame always seems to leave some wiggle room at the edges, so I'd have to manually zoom in a fair bit if I wanted to match the frame to my plane - with rather inaccurate results. Is there any geometry trick to achieve the desired result more precisely by tweaking the camera settings?

Best Regards

I am having trouble with the fbx exporter not seeing the genesis model's genitalia and there morphs. This seems to be happening to all genesis models (original to 8) when I attempt to export them. When I assemble the models (with the genitalia) and try to export them, they simply do not show up on the asset list that is on the menu of the exporter, but when I attempt to export just the model of the genitalia, they and the morphs show up. Is there anyway to fix this? I am still rather new to daz3d ^^' so any help would be appreciated.

I've run into a wierd, out of the blue snag. I have a long sequence of scenes that I have been rendering for months as part of a comicbook narrative. Today, for no apparent reason, the picture size of the completed render switched from 1002x861 to 1002x871 between renders, and visually it looks like it sliced ever so slightly off the sides of the shot I've lined up by a few pixels, while making the image visually slightly taller at the top. Basically, the part of the wall I'm seeing at the left and right edges changed slightly, as if I'd zoomed in or our by a hair. For my project to work, I need the whole set of pictures to be 100% consistent in their size from beginning to end, otherwise I'll wind up tediously cropping a bunch of images at the top to bring them back to 1002x861, whihc is an extra hassle I don't want to deal with.

Typically, each shot in the narrative is saved out as an independent scene file, so I went back to a previously rendered scene file and started a render, just to see if it would go back to the expected 1002x861 that that scene had rendered to before, but it also spontaneously went to 1002x871. I'm reasonably sure I haven't changed any settings wrt the camera, and in fact I went into edit mode on the camera used in the scene to see if any of the position or angle settings had changed for that camera in the different saved scenes, and they hadn't. The xtrans, ytrans, ztrans numbers are all exactly the same, and the xrot, yrot, and zrot are all unchanged, same with the focal length. I never have been able to get a handle on what exactly DOES influence the exact render-image height and width, tho. Does changing the size of the viewport in the Render tab pane somehow effect this? I don't think I've adjusted that anytime recently, either. Not in the past couple of days, anyway. And I'm pretty sure I haven't twiddled with any of the settings under the hood wrt graphics settings in Daz Studio.

What is going on here? What do I look at to get it to go back to rendering it at 1002x861 again? Oo

EDIT: I just noticed the same issue with another set of unrelated renders I did recently, here too it spontaneously changed from 1002x861 to 1002x871 on subsequent test renders of that particular test scene. The only changes I made in that case was in changing various shaders here and there on a character in the scene, saving and reloading the scene as I went along. Notice how it kept the apparent hight of the image the same, but for some reason has now sliced off part of the sides in the image (you see part of the view of the walls getting cropped now), even though what really changed was how many pixels TALL the render now is. Apparently something under the hood is shifting the visible WIDTH of the camera view around is if to trying to make sure it doesn't change one iota what part of the floor and ceiling it keeps in view! What... the...?!?? Oo

Could invoking a Ctrl-A when accidently on the wrong pane have joggled something in how Daz Studio processes the camera render settings? I was trying to deal with an issue over here that involved getting ALL the same-named surfaces in a character converted over from 3Dlight shaders to iRay shaders, where the maker of the original shaders had done some nonstandard thing that borked the auto-convert. I mostly have THAT problem solved, but somewhere on all my banging on the Daz Studio interface and cussing at the machine, something quietly changed wrt the render size without me noticing. Oo

Here is the problem - when your zoomed in close, everything works great.

Mouse wheel zooms in and out at a reasonable speed <<<Based on the distance the camera is to the selected object>>> <---- that is the key

Pan works great when your close to the selected object as well.

As you zoom farther away from the selected object, the design error becomes clear. The pan speed and zoom speed DOES NOT adjust for the increased distance

from the selected object. The farther away you get, the harder it is to pan and zoom....it gets really slow. The software thinks you still making small

close up adjustments...your not.

What needs to change is that the pan distance (real distance) and zoom distance (zoom speed) needs to geometrically increase the farther you are from the

selected object so that from the creators visual perspective zoom and pan moves in useful incriments based on how far the camera is from the selected object.

In a nut shell -

If your close to the selected object, move the camera a little

If your far from the selected object, move the camera a lot.

Fix this and you will speed up my work process.

This has bothered and baffled me for a while: quite often--in fact nearly always--I'll want to tweak a prefabbed pose, but on making adjustments find that e.g. the eyes I see staring straight ahead are cranked all the way over to the left...at least according to the slider. So I disable limits, but the eyes refuse to swivel much farther, and certainly not as far as they can and should.

The same happens with joints, limbs, and digits, and I'm wondering what the cure is. There must be a way to defeat this artificial limit-within-a-limit.

I want the pJCMFlexCalf_L and pJCMFlexCalf_R modifiers of a Genesis 8 figure to only follow at 50%.

An example: When I bend the right foot to a value of 65 the pJCMFlexCalf_R modifier should then be at 50% instead of 100%. And when bent to 32.5 it should be at 25% instead of 50%. And so on. :P

Is this possible? I know I could just adjust it manually every time, but that would just be too much work for my purpose.

I've never had this happen before but when I load in the Medieval Castle, which I recently purchased, the textures appear mostly pink with some yellow and green and blue neon colors as I hover around and click on pieces. When I try a spot render, the textures look correct but in the normal texture shaded view of my viewport it's like Barbie's dream castle or something.

I realize it's a very big set but I've had big scenes before on my PC. When I look at the scene pane, I see it is made up of hundreds of instances. It takes no time at all to load but it takes forever to delete it out of my scene -- (Not Responding).

This is a real shame as it looks like an awesome scene.

I tried loading it in as individual props but as soon as I load in a the second item, colors start going crazy again.

Any thoughts out there?

Hello guys.....

Can anyone help me out here please? This is regarding loading when you load up some sets into your scene they always appear 'blacked out' and you can't see anything at all, I think it must be something to do with how the lighting works in that particular set, however, disabling the lights still doesn't seem to make any difference and everything is still black, on some scenes you can delete all the lights and then you can see everything that's going on, but then of course you can't always get just the lights to load back in for rendering. I've also tried turning on the camera headlamp to see if that sorts it out but in a lot os scenes it does nothing..... So my question here really is, is there a way to get rid of this 'blacked out' appearance so that I can see what I'm setting up, but then put it back to how it was for rendering?

Thanks..... JT

Somehow I have a few pieces of Clothing that are showing up with a File Type of "Scene Subset" instead of "Wearable". One is a piece of Clothing that I converted using Sickle Yield's Tutorial at https://sickleyield.deviantart.com/journal/Tutorial-Convert-Clothing-G3-to-G8-G8-to-G3-686682065. I am sure this dress worked fine when I did the conversion originally but now it does not Fit to the Figure.

Another one is the CoZee dress from Wild Things. I checked with the creator and have been assured that it is properly configured as a Wearable.

I am not sure how I managed to break these, nor how to fix them. I tried removing the CoZee Dress and unzipping it again but that didn't change anything.

Does anyone know how to change these items into Wearables.

Okay. The smoothing modifier is an invaluable asset when it comes to clothing. There's no doubt about that.

However...is there a way to only apply it to parts of a given outfit?

Say, for example, I want to have the fabric smooth, but I don't want to smooth the buttons or something else. Is there a way to only smooth part of that outfit?

Have created a number of Genesis 3 characters/animations that I want to Export and use in unity. Characters seem to export cleanly as FBX (then set to Humanoid rig), but the animations seem to be a hit or miss terms of whether the arms animation correctly or just stay in the t-pose position. I am able to retarget animations that I brought over from Mixamo to the characters and their arms work, although the face animations are terrible. Is there some trick to exporting out of Daz3D studio that I am missing for animations or something that I need to do in terms of rerigging in Unity3d, or is there some other program that might be better for animations than DAZ3d (I tried adobe Fuse but couldn't get the trial to start).

I love Ron's products so I'm glad I bought this set, but I could use some help to combine them to make the promo backgrounds.

As I was looking at the promo images to see what cool stuff came with Ron's Vintage Backgrounds and Overlays, I thought the promo backgrounds were also included. Unfortunately they aren't, but it appears that Ron might have provided a hint as to which items to layer to make it, but I have no idea which blending modes and opacity levels etc. to use.

For example, I'm guessing that this beautiful green background might be made from these 7 backgrounds/overlays (plus other separate brushes for the flowers etc. ):

I've been playing with them in Photoshop for a while. I've tried Overlay, Screen, Soft Light, all at a variety of opacity levels, but I'm not even close.
