      <description><![CDATA[<p>After a major HD wipe, I managed to salvage most of it, including my DIM library. I&nbsp;was able to recover the DIM manifest file but after moving the salvaged installs onto a new disk, I saw that sadly not all installs have been saved. Because of the manifest file, DIM sees the empty files as being installed and now I have to go through almost 4000 items to see which folders are empty. That will take forever!<br />
Is there a script out there that is able to see empty folders and will also automatically remove the manifest file associated with it?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I was hoping that someone here could give me some advice on the best way to go about a graphics card update.</p>

<p>I am currently running a GTX 980ti with the nVidia 388.43 drivers. I haven&#39;t updated to newer drivers because everything is running fine with these (currently running Daz Studio 4.9.4.122).&nbsp; Tomorrow I am getting a 1080ti delivered.&nbsp; Initially I will be swapping out the 980ti for the new card and then in a few weeks I plan to upgrade the power supply and reinstall the 980ti and a secondary card for Iray rendering.&nbsp; The question is, what would be the best way to go about the upgrade tomorrow:</p>

<p>A) Removing the nvidia drivers, swapping for the new card and reinstalling 388.43.<br />
B) Removing the nvidia drivers, swapping for the new card and installing the latest nVidia drivers.<br />
C) Swap the cards and leave the drivers alone.<br />
D) Something else?</p>

<p>Anyone who has had experience of this, I would greatly appreciate any advice.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Can anyone shed any light on this issue? the hair is Linda Ponytail Hair for G8F by OOT. The image attached shows all material zones with cutout opacity set to 0, yet the hair still casts an ugly shadow, still vivble with all material zones at default opacity, hence the problem. I have gone through each material slider and set it to zero/removed any maps one at at time, yet the shadow remains. the only way i can remove the shaodw is to turn off that material zone in the geometry editor.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>So I want to light a scene even further, and so turn the entire ceiling of a room into an emission source. This produces exactly the lighting I want save for one thing: the ceiling itself now looks like an incandescent bulb (red circle in the attached photo). I&#39;ve tried adding the original ceiling jpg to the Emission Color, but that does not help.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I have no idea where this Bardot outfit came from. It is in The Genesis 8 directory under Clothing/Bardot Outfit.</p>

<p>The reason I ask is that I added the Materials/Iray doohicky to the outfit and got an error message.</p>

<p>One thing led to another and I couldn&#39;t find the Clothing outfit anywhere including the Daz3D store wherein I searched for it.</p>

<p>It loads yet I can&#39;t add the Iray or the 3Delight material.</p>

<p>I assumed it was part of a the Genesis 8 character.&nbsp; Anyone know anything about it.&nbsp; (I have a memory problem over some things.</p>

However, I have an existing map for this particular item and don&#39;t want to get rid of it. My testing suggested you can only have one map, but perhaps I wasn&#39;t doing it correctly. Is there a way to turn off a map and have more than one maps?</p>

<p>I bot <a rel="nofollow" href="https://www.daz3d.com/ultimo-paradiso">Ultimo Paradiso</a>.&nbsp; Looks cool.&nbsp; There are 3 scripts to build the island.&nbsp; I open Explorer, navigate to the correct folder, hit the script to build the island.&nbsp; It opens DS and makes the island- works great!&nbsp; I hit the second script and it opens a <strong>second </strong>instance of DS and puts the vegetation in where there is no island.</p>

<p>How do I run the 3 scripts so that it is all in the same instance of DS?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Almost a year ago when I first tried to switched from the gaussian filter to the michell filter there was a big diffrence in sharpness of the rendered image.&nbsp;Today I&nbsp;noticed that the two pixel filters make&nbsp;zero diffrence to my render,</p>

<p>When in iray preview changing between michell and gaussian filter does nothing and does not even reload&nbsp;the rendering process, changing to traingle or box filter reloads the rendering process though.</p>

<p>Have my memory taken an vaccation and there never was any diffrence between the gaussian and michell filters ?&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Trying to understand how the CMS works will make me more insane than I already am.&nbsp; (I know the mechanics from user end of moving, categories, copying, etc. It&#39;s the why it does what it does when I least expect it.)</p>

<p>I haven&#39;t fired up Studio since around Mar 10.&nbsp;(Gee, thanks, RL!)&nbsp; I opened up the Default/Lost and Found category and find 9 items as user created&nbsp;folders in it;&nbsp;some of the stuff bought during March Madness.&nbsp; Items I bought but did NOT install.&nbsp; (BTW, my L&amp;F folder was empty on/or about Mar. 10. And I sure did not create the folders.&nbsp; And I bet if I delete the folder and restart Studio, that folder will come back empty.)&nbsp;</p>

<p>One (Alphakini Contemporary) is just one of the bundle I bought; so one file out of four showing up is mysterious.&nbsp; Possibly being an older prop, doesn&#39;t have the right metatags.&nbsp; &nbsp;(Similar with Gen 3 Essentials and Sultana?)&nbsp; But Bar Interior 2018?&nbsp; And Empty Detention Cell?&nbsp; Both new produsts.&nbsp; I would have thot that they would have proper metatags.&nbsp; Why (how) do they show up as lost and found?&nbsp; &nbsp;We have apparently system created user folders... or something like that.</p>

<p>Also, under Shader Sets, the Sheer Metallic Fabrics (new product, again, purchased but not installed)&nbsp;shows up as &#39;system created&#39;&nbsp;folder with appropriate subfolders per the product listing via smart content?&nbsp; It has the subfolders per&nbsp;the Install view when I look at the &#39;Smart Content&#39;.... so metatags must be there somewhere.&nbsp; But something else must cause them to show up in the default listing.&nbsp; What mysterious force is involved?&nbsp; (Well, ok, what in the software is doing this?)&nbsp; As &#39;system created&#39; folders, I could understand some tie between my Product Library and the CMS.&nbsp; But it seems too tightly and inconsistently&nbsp;wound together.&nbsp; (In my mind and hierarchy, I don&#39;t really differentiate Shaders from a Shader Set.&nbsp; I will (using Sheer Metallic as an example) go with Shaders/Sheer Metallic/... folder structure&nbsp;will move/categorize accordingly.&nbsp; But I shouldn&#39;t have seen it (by my feeble logic) at all.</p>

<p>It drives be crazy to understand what is going on and how to find what&#39;s what and what&#39;s where.&nbsp; This apparently random addition and&nbsp;changes to&nbsp;folders adds an (IMHO) unnecessary challenge to managing the CMS.&nbsp; Maybe if I understand the why and how, I can at least know what to expect.&nbsp; Right now it&nbsp;appears to be evil forces, black magic, and/or&nbsp;the Illuminati that do not want me to manage my runtime efficiently.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hello, I am using Blender for my rendering tool. And I exported&nbsp;Daz figure to Blender&nbsp;in Collada format.<br />
Exporting model seems to be straight forward, I have no problem with that.<br />
But only thing does not exporting is diffuse color of the texture.<br />
I modified diffuse color of texture in the Daz Studio 4.10.<br />
In the viewport, it shows me my desired result. But when I export it color goes back to&nbsp;it&#39;s original color.<br />
Everything but diffuse color works as I intended.</p>

However, getting genesis 3&#39;s clothes on Gen 2 or VICE versa is never quite working. I tried the auto fit tool&#39;s options and for gloves and boots and all it never works right,</p>

<p>I&#39;ve experienced something odd and wondered if anyone out there had experienced the same. Not sure if this is ticket-worthy just yet.&nbsp;</p>

<p>I used DIM to install some items. When i moved into DAZ (it had been closed so it&#39;s a fresh open), I noticed that some of the items wanted updates and some of the items simply did not show up as installed at all. When I updated the items, one still remains as showing that it needs an update. I&#39;m in the middle of installing one of the items that did not install at all.</p>

<p>I&#39;m using DAZ Studio 4.10.0.123 but had experienced the &#39;eternal update&#39; issue with my previous install of D|S.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Any ideas, thoughts, suggestions? &nbsp;Lately my experience with the help desk have not been very positive (two items are still outstanding after 2 weeks) and after changing my email address yesterday, the support history is gone completely.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>The most recent background info I can provide here is that I&#39;ve installed a number of new products, both G3F and G3M and have noticed an accompanying issue with the way the g3m mesh bends at the shoulders now.</p>

<p>At base pose things look fine, but as you can see in the pictures bending the arms down causes odd crumpling of the mesh underneath and around the arms. Any ideas? I have no clue where to start with this...</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>The &#39;anatomical elements&#39;&nbsp;are (is?)&nbsp;from Renderotica, the skin texture from&nbsp;<a href="https://www.daz3d.com/p3d-chandra-hd-for-victoria-7" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">https://www.daz3d.com/p3d-chandra-hd-for-victoria-7</a>. Each works fine otherwise, but together they produce a visible seam around the area in question (see attached render). I&#39;ve tried various texture adjustments, but can&#39;t get rid of the seam.</p>

<p>If anyone has a suggestion--or better yet, has noticed the same problem and found a cure for it--I&#39;d be interested to know.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hi all, new user!&nbsp; I have the newest Daz3d studio on my recently purchased macbook pro and when going through the mundne task of dragging my files from my PC on a jump drive to my mac I accidentally hit &#39;replace&#39; instead of &#39;merge&#39; for my runtime folder ...as soon as I realized the boneheaded mistake I immediately hit cancel and now for some reason the &#39;runtime&#39; folder is completely gone.&nbsp; I tried using easus file recovery (this is a new macbook so I haven&#39;t done the time machine backup yet) to no avail....does anyone know any other way to recover the runtime folder? (it&#39;s not in the trash bin either--and I did a file search to no avail)&nbsp; I had already spent quite some time building up all my libraries on this laptop that I&#39;m dreading going through all that again...if the folder is unrecoverable is my only option to re-install daz3d studio to get the original &#39;runtime&#39; necessities that came with the program?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hello, I&#39;m new in this 3D world, so after having this problem I looked for other posts related with my problem, but I wansn&#39;t lucky to solve my issue.</p>

<p>I guess&nbsp;the name &quot;Eyeray&quot; (&quot;Iray&quot;) indicates that it only works with Iray, but since my GPU is from AMD is a big deal using Iray (my computer freezes constantly, much longer rendering times), I was wondering if there is any way to make it work with 3Dlight.</p>

<p>When I&#39;m in Daz Studio, the eyes looks great, so I was wondering if there is any way to render it properly.</p>

<p>Another thing:&nbsp;why when I use Iray, there is a white rectangle in the eye? I&#39;m using the naked G8M only with the EYEray. Is it because the &quot;camera&quot; is too close? If I move the camera, the rectangle apears in a different position. The Iray settings are the&nbsp;default. Is there any way to remove that? I want to make some close up renders, but if there is a big white rectangle the result will be spoiled :(</p>

      <description><![CDATA[Newbie Scripting question here, but in my defense, my Java experience is over ten years out of date.  What I'm looking to do is use a Script to rotate a character's specific body part by a specified amount.  For example, I want to select a character and have their lower abdomen twist by 10%.  I've got it working okay, but it always rotates whatever character is first on the Scene Tab, no matter what character I have selected.
I'm pretty sure it has to do with my using the command 

Scene.findNodebyLabel("Lower Abdomen")

But I'm not sure which object to use instead of Scene, or if there's a way to just specify a node for the selected figure.  Also, I'm about 20 miles away from my PC right now, so I may be misremembering the specific command above, but I'm pretty sure that's it.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?]]></description>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hey guys and gals,</p>

<p>I just recently invested in a threadripper 1950x, but due to budget constraints, I only have 4 GB of RAM in the system (looking to get 128 GB along with two GTX 1080 Ti 11GB Cards).&nbsp; I&#39;ve got it running on a SSD with a SSD cache, but content is on a HDD.&nbsp; To help compensate for lack of RAM, i&#39;ve opened up my page to 130 GB.</p>

<p>I&#39;ve got a scene that I&#39;m trying to render out: its a stair case entrance to a ball room with dining chairs and tables and i think 16 light sources. I have 11 genesis 3 female models, all with various types of dresses (they are characters from a series i&#39;m co-writing).&nbsp; When i turn on the iray for drawing mode or initiate a regular render (1000 pixels wide by 667 high), Daz only uses 1 thread to render it out. This is obviously going to take a LONG time.</p>

<p>Here comes the hinky part; when I hide the staircase, the chairs and have 1 genesis 3 mode going, Daz utilizes ALL 32 threads (technically about 30 since I allocate all but one or two cores for the rest of the system.)&nbsp; I throw in the stairs and another model, Daz uses all available at 100%.&nbsp; I currently have 4 models, the stair case and lights going and Daz is using 30 threads from high 60% to 90%. The more stuff i add, the more the percentage drops across ALL threads. Remember, the 1950x is a 16 core cpu with hyperthreading. It should be using all available at 100%, or at least that&#39;s my understanding.</p>

<p>Here is another hinky part: i designed this scene on an 8350 and when i set it to iray on 6 of the 8 cores, the entire model slams the available at 100%.</p>

<p>Does anyone know why Daz won&#39;t utilize all the threads available when the entire scene is portrayed? Is it lack of RAM (which is my assumption) or is there a setting that I just don&#39;t know about?&nbsp; I&#39;ve already compared both sets of settings and couldn&#39;t find anything at first look.</p>

I am hoping that I&#39;ve just missed something simple as I&#39;ve got no clue as to what is wrong and no error messages seem to come up either.<br />

<p>I&#39;ve just come on a disturbing problem with my characters. When I load a character and a hair to go with it, in Iray render I&#39;ve the result in attached files, some sort of blue hairlines. I didn&#39;t modify the characters or the hairs, and the render settings are by default. The ressources used are Michael 8, Victoria 8, Axel Hair and Voss Hair.</p>

<p>Have you ever experience this?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hi.&nbsp; Is anyone else having problems with Iray Mem Assistant?&nbsp; I purchased it about 2 months ago, and I cannot get it to work.&nbsp; I sent a note to the vender, no response.</p>

<p>I have 11Gig of VRAM, yet even when I load a blank scene, Iray Mem Assistant says that I have a &quot;Potential VRAM Shortage = -,163.04&quot;.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
