      <title>How to change default install path in InstallManager?</title>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I am trying to change the default path that Daz InstallManager uses to install content. The online documentation seems a little incomplete. When I bring up the Settings Dialog via the &quot;Gear&quot; icon in InstallManager, there are 4 tabs. The 3rd tab is &quot;Installation&quot;. The top section provides the locations for installing 64 bit and 32 bit Software, plus a couple options about shortcuts. Those are all fine.</p>

<p>Next is a very confusing radio toggle &quot;Content Updates&quot; with choices Install to Respective &quot;Installed&quot; Paths and Install to Selected Path. Despite a little information in the tool tip you see when you hover over these choices, I cannot figure out the difference. Can anyone explain which one to choose?</p>

<p>But my real problem is the next section. It is a table with columns Label and Path. There is one line in it, but it seemingly cannot be edited. It&#39;s&nbsp;labeled &quot;Recommended DAZ Studio/Poser Content Folder&quot; with the path C:/Users/Public/Documents/My Daz3D Library. This is where all the DIM-installed content on my old PC ended up. But on the new PC, the C: drive is a relatively small SSD, and I have a much bigger SSD on D: where I want this content to go. I cannot edit the path, or use the &quot;...&quot; button to bring up a file chooser.</p>

<p>I do see that at the bottom is a &quot;+&quot; button, and it looks like it would add more lines to this table, with their own labels and paths. But that would not remove the first line. I think I want to change that so it will never pick that location on the C: drive for installing new content.</p>

<p>Here&#39;s a screenshot in case it helps. I cannot change &quot;C:/Users/Public/Documents/My Daz3D Library&quot; to my preferred location.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hi everybody,</p>

<p>I&#39;m&nbsp;completely new to Daz and Unity and have been watching many tutorials for the past few weeks to import a Daz character to Unity.(Yes, I purchased the indie license).</p>

<p>Since unity is limited to 65535&nbsp;verts (I&#39;m assuming verts is short for vertices ?), I&#39;ve purchased Decimator to reduce the count. So basically, I want to decimate in Daz any mesh&nbsp;bigger than 65000 verts so it can fit Unity. My problem is that the decimator panel seems to decimate using a polygon count not verts.</p>

<p>I do not know what&#39;s the difference between polygons and verts but when I do specify 65000 in the polygons count and create the new lod then export, first I still see the original number of verts in export window instead of seeing the number after decimation and second, the verts count is still too high for Unity.</p>

<p>How do I know which number of polygons I must decimate so the number of verts match Unity&#39;s limit ?</p>

<p>My Connect worked very well for a time, then suddenly stopped.</p>

<p>Logging in via connect does not work, it keeps goi ng back to Login. I can&#39;t seem to find any thing the forums except on short blurb about reinstalling DAZ won&#39;t fix the problem. But that was for V 4.9. I am on the latest version of DAZ 4.10.0.123 Pro Edition 64 bit.</p>

<p>I would really like to get it going again.</p>

<p>I have a couple of very annoying problems that I could do with some help or advice on please.</p>

<p>1)&nbsp; For no apparent reason my Daz Search has suddenly stopped working and finds absolutely nothing from my content folders.&nbsp;</p>

<p>I&#39;ve changed nothing, my settings are still the same now as they have been for months, I&#39;ve not changed any locations or paths to anything and yet I can no longer search anything.</p>

<p>If anyone has any idea how I can put this issue right I&#39;d appreciate it very much.</p>

<p>2)&nbsp; The next thing I&#39;ve noticed, &#39;Content Cluster&#39; - Can anyone tell me where this folder and all it&#39;s contents are suppose to be please? Yet again for no apparent reason this folder has now been placed inside &#39;My Library&#39;,</p>

<p>it&#39;s never, ever been there before but since yesterday it has now been placed in my content list along with all my other stuff.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hello everyone.<br />
I need some non-proprietary clothing for one of my characters and I find that an item that I already have can be cut down and edited to produce what I need (it&#39;s not for resale or re-distribution by the way).<br />
I&#39;ve tried to do this in Hexagon and it seems to work to a certain degree (although it could be better) but from here on&nbsp;I&#39;m stuck.&nbsp;<br />
It won&#39;t come back as an *.obj but only as a prop and with several other difficulties that I&#39;m encountering, I&#39;m just floundering about.<br />
Does anyone know of a good Youtube tutorial or something similar that might help me on my way?<br />

To simulate a crushing effect on the buttocks, I added a Smoothing Modifier to the character and used the table as a collision element. The result is perfect. Now, how can I remove the Smoothing Modifier while keeping the shape of the buttock? If I simply put the Smoothing Modifier to 0, then the collision effect disappear.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I am having to spend a ton of time moving items around so that I can get them where I want them and do Parent in Place.</p>

<p>If I try to Change parent without doing it &quot;In Place&quot; it moves the items where I want them, but it re-scales them. Not sure why changing parent would change the size of my props. It doesn&#39;t make much sense.</p>

<p>I even tried parenting everything to a null and then parent the null to the prop that the items should be parented to. Even then it changes the scale.</p>

<p>Is there a way to keep this from happening?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>So, I just got the <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.daz3d.com/creatura-the-harpy-for-victoria-4">Creatura Harpy</a> and it&#39;s working on V4 as advertised.&nbsp; I&#39;m trying to experiment a bit though, and tried fitting it to Genesis and G2F (specifically want to try it with the <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.daz3d.com/genesis-2-raven">Raven</a>).&nbsp; For Genesis it worked surprisingly well.&nbsp; For G2F the ends of the wings bunch up a bit.&nbsp; But in both cases there&#39;s a problem with the feet.&nbsp; The insides of the feet are merging with each other, no matter where I move them:</p>

<p>I applied Twyla Hair (DAZ3D product&nbsp;<a href="https://www.daz3d.com/twyla-hair" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">https://www.daz3d.com/twyla-hair</a>) to Victoria 4.2 in Poser 11.&nbsp; When I go to render with FireFly it crashes every time.&nbsp; Delete Twyla Hair off Victoria and it renders fine.&nbsp; Add it on, and it crashes.&nbsp; I even re-installed the Twyla Hair files and it doesn&#39;t make a difference.&nbsp; (It doesn&#39;t crash with SuperFly.)&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>Is it a Twyla Hair thing, or a Poser 11 FireFly thing?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I am just getting back to DAZ Studio after being off for about two months. I have updated everything through Install Manager and Daz Studio is at the latest released rev.</p>

<p>I get the error shown below after Rendering a single frame of my Animation. The Frame renders fine but the next one fails immediately. This is with a GeForce GTX 1070 TI with the latest Drivers installed and Daz Studio 4.10.0.123. A small popup appears when it fails simply saying something basic like &quot;An Error Occurred&quot;. When I click OK on the popup the Mouse Pointer looks like DAZ Studio is busy, but I can click on things.</p>

<p>If I try to Render again I get &quot;Unable to render. Renderer is already in use.&quot; I was having a similar problem with a Scene last week but it seemed to go away once I turned off Iray Rendering in the Viewport (which I usually do anyway).</p>

<p>I tried removing some objects that I had added to the scene and also removed hidden objects &amp; figures from the Scene with no luck.</p>

<p>I read where someone else has a similar error and they though it was due to SubD being greater than 1. I am not sure where this would be set but maybe that could be my issue.</p>

<p>One thing I noticed in trying to debug this is that in Windows 10 Task Manager, there is an instance of Daz Studio Application that appears to be taking up 4-5GB of memory. In the Gpu Engine column it show&nbsp;&quot;gpu 0 copy&quot;. Maybe this is just how Windows is showing the GPU usage but I thought it might be a clue.</p>

<p>I have my Advance Render settings set to GPU only with OptiX Prime Acceleration enable. I am attachning a screenshot of my Render settings.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Couple things, figured I ask first before making a product request.</p>

<p>Sometimes I want to convert a camera into the virtual viewport...viewer...the default viewing port that exists BEFORE you make a camera. Does that make sense?</p>

<p>So instead of choosing to create a new camera from the current view, I want to do the opposite and change a Camera into the default viewer.</p>

<p>Related as I wonder if it&#39;s possible to create a script that moves the active port a certain distance from an object. In your camera control doo-hickey you can press the [+] sort of thing and get a better focus on an object in the scene. BUT! If I want to jump large distances, I&#39;d like to be able to select an object in the scene and run this script and have THE DEFAULT VIEWER move a certain distance (of the scripts choosing) from the object. Maybe with orientation presets. A certain distance from its central axis. Or always floor level pointing up...</p>

<p>Or a script that can CREATE A NEW CAMERA pointing at an object, and also a certain distance away from that object.</p>

<p>I know I can make a camera myself and use the align tools to move it about and then look through that camera, but I want to move the Daz default viwer about.</p>

<p>Any ideas?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p><span>I have never encountered this, but maybe I am having a brain fart.&nbsp; I was doing a render, and afterward, I only see Light Sets for Smart Content or under files.&nbsp; Everything else will show up if I select ALL, but I no longer have &#39;environments&#39;, figures&#39;, and so forth.&nbsp; What the heck did I click on to make it only show lighting?</span></p>

<p><strong>I figured it out!&nbsp; Wow, that was perplexing, but it turns out it was just the little arrow next to &#39;Default&#39; must have got clicked so it minimized everything but the thing I happened to be in at the time- lighting!&nbsp; So, I feel like an idiot.&nbsp; Easy fix in case anyone else runs into this!</strong></p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I am attempting to create a morph that better shows the neck tendons when posing the head looing far to the side - to achieve a more realistic look.</p>

<p>Problem is, once I model based on the pose, when importing with MLP, the dial insists on changing all the other vertices as well.</p>

<p>But modeling on the zero pose is really difficult because I can&#39;t tell how exactly my vertex position deltas need to be set for the right looking result.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>I tried to set/unset &quot;reverse deformations&quot; in the import settings, but that doesn&#39;t really give me the right result.</p>
