      <description><![CDATA[<p>I think I would like to get various models (I have in some cases) but they have no rotatable Skys and Water.&nbsp; I just want rotatable Iray Skys with plain Land and/or Water to go with these models.</p>

<p>Especially Dramatic and Beautiful Skys that go from Night to Day preferably.&nbsp; I bought the Lagoon Living models and haven&#39;t been able to add the beautikys skys and water I imagine<img alt="blush" src="https://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/embarrassed_smile.png" title="blush" />.</p>

<p>You see I model &quot;Flying Saucers&quot; in Lightwave3D and just want them in the beautiful skys out behind or wherever the Models.&nbsp; Likeside Folly?&nbsp; I only have 16 gig RAM so It is hard to add Lagoon Living to it and get a decent shot.&nbsp; Anything? Thanks.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hey all.</p>

<p>I just recently installed Daz 4.10 and have come across a new problem that I've not had before. Every time I go to save a figure/prop asset Daz hard crashes.</p>

<p>Since the upgrade I've saved scenes, morphs, material presets, UV sets etc with no issues.</p>

<p>This is a problem some others seem to have had in the past, such as this one:</p>

<p>The fix for that was to re-install CMS. See, I've never used CMS, and have always uninstalled it ever since Daz 4.5. This has never been a problem before, all the way up to the last time I saved figure assets in Daz 4.9 about a year ago. I never even used to get error messages, let alone crashes. It just did what it was supposed to. Like a good boy.</p>

<p>I just really do not want to install CMS, as I much prefer doing everything manually and don't want unimportant software on my machine.</p>

<p>Is it really the only way to fix this? And why is it suddenly a problem when it wasn't before?</p>

<p>It has been a while since I tried to do any toon shading with DAZ Studio, and I am experiencing something that seems different than what I was expecting.&nbsp; When I apply a toon shader to a sphere, the toon shading is only applied to the diffuse channel and not the ambient channel.&nbsp; Whatever color I put in the ambient channel gets applied with a smooth gradient.&nbsp; I am using the 3Delight engine.</p>

<p>The attached image shows the problem.&nbsp; The diffuse channel is white 100% and the ambient channel is red 100% to make the issue clear.</p>

<p>Is it supposed to work this way?&nbsp; This seems wrong to me.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;m having an issue with posing my figure all of a sudden. Suddenly there&#39;s limits on the arms of Genesis 8. I don&#39;t know if this was an update or if it&#39;s something I did myself without knowing, but it&#39;s really strange and I don&#39;t know how to fix it. Suddenly I can only bend the figure&#39;s arm so far. It will only bend to 40 unless I turn off limits. The biggest problem though is the way the arm expands (deforms) when I do the full shoulder bend.</p>

<p>I did however buy a figure from&nbsp;most-digital-creations.com recently and&nbsp;I also updated&nbsp;with Daz Install Manager around the same time, so I&nbsp;think one of these actions may have corrupted something maybe?<br />

Is there a way to re-install Genesis 8 or reconfigure things back to how they were before?&nbsp;</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;ve been working on creating an interior fitness center space, and adjusting its appearance using feedback from the Nvidia Iray real time setting in viewport. I&#39;ve got it just about where I want it, but once I started doing test renders I saw that the lights really aren&#39;t working at all. The lighting is provided by multiple hanging ceiling lights that I&#39;ve attached the Uber&nbsp;emissive shader preset to..Virtually all surfaces are Iray shaders. While it looks fine in the viewport, in renders all I can really see are the surfaces of the lights themselves and some hotspot reflections of those lights on a few surfaces. Where am I going wrong? Have I misunderstood the use of the emissive shader?</p>

<p>I&#39;m a bit lost as to placing a camera inside a room and being able to see the room and it&#39;s content. A good example for me is the basement laundry say I put a figure in the laundry but when I move back to see the figure I end up in a wall, outside the wall or in a prop. I&#39;ve tried to create my own camera placement and views but the same thing happens I end up outside the wall and don&#39;t get the full scene with the figure in it. Is there something I&#39;m not doing or is there a tutoral on how to place cameras?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I decided to take a stab at converting some of my G3 figures to G8 and thought it went great until I realized the eylashes were not in the correct place. I read about enabling autofollow on the morph itself so I enabled that by locating the morph in parameters/morph loader, edit mode, enable auto follow, but the eyelashes did not correct (I also set teh eyelashes to autofollow rather than redirect transforms, still nothing). Then I read that maybe I need to save the morph as a morph asset and reload it, so I tried to do that but I cannot find any saved morph asset after I do that, so I cannot figure out how to reload it. I am saving it to the same location as usual, a My Library folder where all my personal presets etc are, but when I save the morph as an asset it is as if nothing is happening as far as I can tell, there is no morph asset folder, there is no files loose in the library folder where the save dialogue is pointing, a manual browse to that location shows nothing nor in the daz content library for that location. I assume I am overlooking something but I have no idea what, any step by step, how to save my morph as a morph asset that I can then find and reload would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I am completely exhausted by Daz 4.10 and this absurd constant crashing. I submitted a ticket&nbsp;about this and was able to backdate to 4.9 but that eventually started with the same crash behavior. The crux is this--I start a project and build a complete scene. I can Iray preview and render without any problem. Then I close the file and later reopen it. Crash. I go through all the menus, check the crash log and change to solid bounding box in the Drawstyles menu. Sometimes it opens and I can hide one figure and reset the draw to wireframe and work on the single, but viewing them both at the same time causes a crash. These are not huge files--385kb is my current project&#39;s size. It happens with all my files new or old, large or small, complex or simple. I can work on it while new but the minute I close the file it becomes a crash-magnet. This has only become a problem in 4.10.0.123.</p>

<p>At this point, I&#39;ve spent hours searching for a solution and days struggling with working on projects while walking on eggshells, knowing that a crash or reopening a file will cause the program to become unstable. I&#39;ve exported some files to Modo but it doesn&#39;t have the same paradign for its renderer and the shaders have to be rebuilt--only .obj files work. FBX and COLLADA do not.</p>

<p>For me Daz is not a free program--I have thousands of dollars tied up in&nbsp;assets. I need it to just work. My computer is a 2012 Mac &quot;cheese grater&quot; running OS 10.12 Sierra,with an Nvidia 1070 8GB on a separate power supply, 16gb Ram, 2 2.4 6-core Xeon processors and plenty of storage. I keep my CUDA and web driver up to date and I reinstalled 4.10 today for the second time. Still crashing. I&#39;ve been using 3D programs for a while, Modo and Zbrush mostly and while they do crash sometimes, they are not nearly as unbelievably unstable as Daz Studio (at least on my machine). I&#39;m stuck with a massive investment in assets from Daz and Renderosity and I&#39;m dead in the water. I&#39;ve attached a crash log from my 8th crash today.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>In my tinkering to convert G3 to G8 I somehow attached one of the figures morphs to the G8 base figure, so it loads with every G8 figure, which wouldnt really be an issue because it comes in zeroed but it is breaking auto follow for the eyelashes, possibly because they are supposed to following another morph?</p>

<p>If anyone knows how to correct this and can walk me through a step by step morph removal I would greatly appreciate it as this is a showstopper. I was wondering if simply uninstalling and reinstalling G8 would fix it but I suspect not. Thanks in advance!</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;m working on a scene which has a level horizontal road and on this road there&#39;s a car moving from left to right (90&deg; Y Rotation), and a second car moving right to left (-90&deg; Y Rotation). This scene has the theme of skidding and so I need both cars angling off the horizontal plane - no problem there - and at least one of them rotated along its horizontal axis so that only two wheels are on the road&#39;s surface, but whether I use the X or Z Rotations I can only get them to angle up and down on their horizontal axes. I&#39;ve also tried with a third car and the same happens. If I Y Rotate any of the cars to 0&deg; with their hoods facing the centred camera (their default positions on loading) I can rotate them on their horizontal axes using X Rotate, but as soon as I Y Rotate them (+ or -) to any new angle once again they tilt/rotate with either hoods or trunks angling upwards and their opposite ends angling down. I need at least one of these cars to be angled so that only two wheels are on the road surface (as it swerves/skids/rolls off the horizontal plane): the left hand wheels of the car moving right to left, and/or the left hand wheels of the car moving left to right. How do I accomplish that?!</p>

<p>One often sees on the movies a car rolled say to right with only the right forward and rear wheels on the surface so that it passes through the narrow gap between two oncoming lorries, but I can only get that tilt in DS if the car is at 0&deg; or 180&deg; Y Rotation. I&#39;m baffled as I expected to be as easy as any transition or rotation.</p>

<p>This happens in the shop, technology, galleries and forums in Daz 3d webpages in the Chrome browser. It does</p>

<p>not happen in Firefox, and does not happen on any other site than daz3d.com.</p>

<p>I have turned off automatic scroll on inactive pages in settings mouse. Any suggestions, this is driving me crazy?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Being new to Daz3D (but not in 3D design) I decided to test how NVidia rendering works both with CPU only or GPU only. Made full render with CPU and a spot render with CUDA. Sof far so good. But after a lot of time after I close the app I accidently saw a lot of postgres.exe processes running (5 or 6). Checked from where they were running and they all were running from Daz3D instalation directory (on D: if it does matter).</p>

<p>Obviosuly they should not run after everything Daz3D related was closed so please advice.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>So I decided to install the newest version of Daz manually and point the content directory to another HD rather than my near capacity C drive. That was this morning and the Install has been &quot;installing the content management service&quot; since then.&nbsp; Does this process take this long, or is something wrong?&nbsp; It appears to be maybe 5 percent from completion.&nbsp; Nothing seems to be frozen, it just appears to be doing it&#39;s thing.&nbsp; Should I&nbsp;look at this as a vacation from Daz for a bit and go see what going on in the real world?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;d like to move my CMS database off of C: because this is an ssd I&#39;m reserving for the OS and installed programs. I&#39;d like to keep data on D:, which is a larger SSD.</p>

<p>I opened Edit | Preferences (after stopping CMS). The next-to-last tab is CMS Settings, and the &quot;Cluster Diretory&quot; was C:/Users/raymand/AppData/Roaming/DAZ 3D/cms. I moved that to D: (I actually created those same folders on D:, so the only thing that changed was the drive letter.) I renamed the old folder on C: to cms.old so it would not use it. and I started CMS. After getting a busy cursor for a few seconds, it finished working. Then I checked and found that it rebuilt a new cms folder in the old location on the C: drive!&nbsp;The D: drive, where I specified it should go, was untouched. Then I opened the Preference/CMS Settings dialog, and saw it changed the directory back to the C: drive.</p>

<p>I&#39;ve tried a couple times with the same results. It always reverts my change and moves the cms directory back to its old location on C:</p>

<p>Am I doing something wrong? How can I get it to put the cms&nbsp;db on my preferred drive?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;m creating decals with displacement and need for the material to have subsurface scattering.&nbsp; The problem is that the&nbsp;Iray Uber Shader&#39;s subsurface properties are completely bypassed when the Cutout Opacity channel has a map in it.&nbsp; By this I mean that when &#39;Thin Walled&#39; is set to &#39;Off&#39;&nbsp;and Cutout Opacity has a map in it, the shader&nbsp;behaves as if &#39;Thin Walled&#39; was set to &#39;On&#39;.</p>

<p>Does a solution exist for this?&nbsp;</p>

<p>If it&#39;s simply part of the shader&#39;s architecture how should I go about modifying it?&nbsp; Would loading the MDL into Substance Designer be possible?<br />

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Using <em>Wear Them All</em>, I transferred clothing items made for David 3 to a Genesis 3 character. I then loaded a Genesis 8 character. Using&nbsp;<em>Fit Control</em>, I transferred the clothing items to the Genesis 8 character. Now, I would like to save the clothing so that the items may be used on other Genesis 8 characters, without all the refitting. The questions are <strong>How</strong> and <strong>Where</strong>? That is, do I save the items as <strong>Clothing Presets, or what?</strong> And, should I save them in a Subfolder under Genesis 8 named something like Clothing Presets, or should I save them in a clothing folder named Clothing Presets, or is that just my choice? Or, again, should they be saved as <strong>something other</strong> than Clothing Presets?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;m setting up a new PC (as some of the helpful folks answering some of my other questions may have noticed!). I downloaded and installed the latest Daz 4.10. Then for no good reason other than it was in the same download page, I downloaded Hexagon 2.5.something and installed it. Like a itch needing to be scratched, I thought, why not start it and enter that serial number I see in my Daz Account page?&nbsp;So I did. Very bad things ensued.</p>

<p>First, when Hexagon started, it warned me that it might not be stable under OpenGL 1.4. I clicked OK. I brought it up only long enough to paste in that serial number, then I quit. Nothing seemed unusual.</p>

<p>Then I started Daz. Instead of starting, I got this nice message box:</p>

<p>DAZ Studio requires at least OpenGL version 1.3. Your machine provides OpenGL 1.1 Please contact your video card provider to get updated drivers or upgrade to an OpenGL 1.3 compatible graphics card.</p>
</blockquote>

<p>WTF?! I have a 1080ti gpu. That&#39;s the top of the food chain in the GeForce 10 line. Only Titans and Quadro&#39;s are above that. Besides, Hexagon had just complained about my having OpenGL 1.4. Unless someone can offer a better explanation, I think Hexagon downgraded my video drivers. So, I brought up the Nvidia GeForce Experience app, went to drivers, and (re)installed the April 25, 2018 GeForce drivers. After that Daz started just fine.</p>

<p>If Hexagon did what I think it did, that is very, very bad. I&#39;m going to think long and hard before running it again.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;m setting up Daz on a new PC. It has a 500gb SSD for the OS (Win 10 Pro 64 bit), programs, including Daz, etc. There is a 1Tb SSD for my documents, projects, purchased content, etc. And for good measure, there is an HDD for things I don&#39;t want to waste an SSD for, like downloaded files.</p>

<p>So, before installing already purchased content, I want to move C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library from C: (the smaller SSD) to D: (the larger SSD). I can easily update DIM and the Content Directory Manager in Daz to do this. But I am wondering if it might be a good idea to additionally set up multiple folders for different kinds of content, rather than keeping everything in one huge folder?</p>

<p>For example, most of purchased content is for Genesis 8 and some Genesis 3. But during March Madness, I grabbed a bunch of older stuff at very low prices. Maybe it would be good to keep the older stuff in its own directory. Also, while 80% of my content was purchased at Daz, the rest was purchased (or gotten for free) at a couple other sites. Maybe that would go in a different directory.</p>

<p>So, I was wondering what schemes&nbsp;folks here like to use for organizing content into multiple content directories?</p>
