Okay. So, I have a character, which I've worked on multiple times and saved in multiple scenes. Unfortunately, I had an issue with size limits on my DAZ-drive, so I moved the library - that didn't go quite as well as planned, due to a failed drive in a RAID-setup, so I decided to just "start over" - reset the database, reinstalled everything via DIM, and reassigned links in DAZ to point to the new locations. All that seems to be working more or less fine. However, I have an issue with the character (which is based on Teen Josie 7 for Teen Josie 8 / Genesis 8 Female).

I've attached files for both the previous look, and the in-DAZ-look of the character now

Anyone have any idea what is causing this? No warnings on scene-load, all assets (that I can think of) is present (installed via DIM, also tried reinstalling them, and loading the scene when they were not installed - then DAZ complained about missing files). So it seems the assets are present, they're just not applied, for some reason.

There are no errors in the logs, just some warnings about "Could not find output property" (and then the body, head-morphs for G8F, and a breast mod. I've attached everything that's logged when opening the scene.

I have added point lights close to the locations and adjusted the light parameters so that they remove the shadows without completely ruining the scene lighting.

The problem is that the rendering for each frame jumped from 9 minutes up to 22 minutes. Is there a better technique to solving my problem that won't cost so much rendering time?

That said, I had REAL problems getting templates and downloads etc working particularly the extended facila expresions controls in Power Pose. Finally figured it out.

My Install Manager was putting my downloads including the Genesis 8 Female Power Pose Templates in this directory: C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library\data\DAZ 3D

This directory is nestled 2 directories lower than the base directory and is seemingly a base directory itself.

Go to your install manager, find the installed Genesis 8 Female Power Pose Templates and cloick the arrow to the far right and select shwo installed files. I had to add the string ../data/DAZ 3D/ to the top directory so DAZ Studio could see this runtime directory.

I hope this helps people.

Thanks!

Fairly late into my rigging process, I discovered that a vert in a cuff was merged with a vert in the sleeve behind it. I went back to my geometry and fixed it, but when I try to update the geometry in Daz, I can't because the geometry is different. I can copy over the rigging and texturing to a fresh mesh import, but I'd really like to transfer the dForce weighting, too, since that was tricky to get correct. Is there a way to do that? The underlying UVs are identical, as is the location of every vert. The only difference is what polys the miscreant vert connects to.

I have resisted learning modeling but lately I have had to rely on Turbosquid for models to use in DS not found in DAZ world. Mostly I have managed but one thing that is holding me back is that many of the meshes I want to import are single OBJ files that are collections of separate props. No way to separately click on individual items. How do I split these collections into separate OBJs to import into DS? I have both Hexagon and Blender... neither of which I have really used so far. I'm hoping Hexagon is all I need to accomplish this, as honestly Blender throws me. One way or another though, I need to crack this nut.

1. When I bring into DAZ some objects (from other sources) they appear invisible. Though I can see their outline if I have the Surface tool selected and click on it. BTW: once in a while as I am trying to make it visible - it miraculously appears solid - but I have no idea what I did to make it appear. Does anyone know how to make these appear solid?

2. Why is it (if I do see the whole solid object in grey), and then manually apply its jpg texture or one of my shaders to it - I only get a solid color, e.g. if I apply a wood Iray shader that has wide wood grain streaks, it only appears as a solid brown. Likewise when I apply the grass jpg (that came with the object) all I get is a solid green ? But if I create a primitive in DAZ and apply the same Shader or jpg texture - all of the wood grain or jpg grass texture shows just fine (See the comparison picts of the same jpg grass texture applied to the hedges and a plane primitive).

I assume that some setting must be set wrong, but I can't figure out which it is. Help!

Hello, I installed Daz 4.10 on new Win 10 PC and am interested in process of importing the category settings from my old, now unused, Win 7 C drive. Was there a file that I can copy over vs recreating all the categories again. What would that file be called, or what file *.type * should I be looking for on my old drive? Content is showing fine as I moved my content/data drive to new PC, just would like to have my custom categories now as well for the new installation.

Thanks for any assistance!

I realize this has been covered numerous times in these forums and elsewhere but I'm still generally confused when I go looking for answers.

I need to determine what I need to backup in regard to my own DAZ created material. What do I need to backup beyond my .duf files? DAZ is installed on my C drive. I'm not concerned about my content libraries as I have all my old runtimes backed up. I use Content Library within DAZ Studio and only install content as I need it and can re-download from the DAZ cloud as necessary.

Thanks in advance.
