Hey Guys,

I know I posted a thread regarding this product before but that was prior to purchasing it. Now that I own it, I'm running into some problems. upon loading the envoriment as is and doing a render, this is what I got. (Please see below) obviously way different from the promo images. So my question is why is the scene so dark and did I do something wrong? I know in the images FirstBastion posted here https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/255611/firstbastion-s-suburban-shopping-mall#latest the mall looked pretty good. He did mention something about changing the surface materials. Something I really am not sure how to do.

Any advice/comments would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Hello everyone,

Lately I have been having quite a lot of problems with getting Iray renders to work. Even very simple scenes render extremely slowly, or worse switch to CPU mode. In this case I mean renders such as a floor, two walls, using the Promo Style Catch Lights for Iray, a single chair and two genesis 3 male characters. With simple clothes (bad boy outfit) it already overflowed my GPU memory and switched to CPU. I have a GTX 1070 and a GTX 950. It's understandable that perhaps the 950 can't handle it, but the 1070 should easily be able to render such simple scenes right?

Anyone know why this is happening? The problem persists after closing and reopening Daz.

Okay, so I finally got a new rig (yay!) and have successfully configured the library (on an external drive) and DIM to find all my content. (There will be a few plugins to re-install, but no big problem). I exported the User Data from the old machine, where I had been categorizing everything, and re-imported into the new machine. It all shows up in the right places, as it should (whew!) but I cannot move or rename any folders that were imported. I can make new categories and edit them no problem, but not the stuff that was restored, like it's read-only. Not what I was expecting.

I installed D|S 4.10 clean on the new machine, and the export was from another running D|S 4.9 (last version). I had done it before on another machine months ago to try it out, but never worked on it after. I checked, and it has the same problem (can't edit imported user categories), and it is running D|S 4.9, too.

I've been using Poser content in DS since version 2.3, and have run into very little that I haven't been able to at least work around, but this is the first time that a piece of Poser content has weirded out in this particular way.

I figured I couldn't be the only one to hit this particular snag, so I bring my problem to the Vast and Mighty DAZ Studio Hive-Mind™. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Giving G3F a new life: Morphing G8 into G3.

Over time, I amassed a large amount of clothes and shoes for G3F. Not to mention poses, expressions, etc. However, sometimes I'm interested in a G8F character, but I do not want to fight and try to adjust the clothes in my collection. It's even sometimes difficult for heeled shoes.

Of course, a simple solution would be to convert an entire G8F character to G3F. However, due to some structural differences (or other things I do not fully understand), and depending on the method used, the conversion of G8F to G3F sometimes gives unpredictable results. By the way, most tutorials show how to convert G3F to G8F, and not the other way around ...

My idea then is to transfer the head only from G8F to G3F. Usually, the specificity of a character resides mostly in the head. Due to the vast amount of parameters involved in each face’s components (nose, mouth, eyes, lips, ears, etc), the face details and subtleties are not easily reproduced. As for the body, it is rather easy to reproduce using the basic tools.

Here is my methodology:

What you need: G3F basic character, G8F basic character, and the morph that transforms G8F into the target character (the one to reproduce).

Load G3F base character. In Mesh Resolution, put Resolution at Base and SubDLevel at 0.

Export G3F as .obj. (Uncheck Write Group)

Delete G3F and import G3F.obj.

Load G8F base character.

Start the Transfer Utility (TU). Use G8F as source and G3F.obj as target. Default on both sides.

After the transfer, unparent G3F.

Select G8F and activate the head morph. If everything went well, G3F should also adopt the desired new face.

Hide G8F (don’t detete it!).

Export the morphed G3F to .obj. (G3F_2.obj)

Start a new scene, and load G3F base character.

Now, by using Morph Loader Pro and choosing the G3F_2.obj you just created, you should be able to create a single dial morph slider. The procedure to do so is widely covered and easily available on the net.

Voilà!

As said previously, I can easily match the original body of G8F just by using dial morphs.

Please make comments if a step is missing, wrong, or not necessary.

I have a lot of files and my Mac couldn't hold all of these. I had the installer put them in a file on an external hard drive. When the installer loads the files Daz acknowledges them but does not show a picture just a name and when I click on it it says file does not exist. I don't know how to show Daz where the files are. Can someone advise please.

Often when I use Daz my screen will go black at some point, my computer will freeze and I'll get a message telling me that the Display driver stopped responding & has recovered, meaning I need to restart Daz and lose any unsaved work.
My PC is a very lightweight setup so I wasn't surprised it'd have problems dealing with a program like Daz; however, when I looked up the problem online it seems that many powerful gamingstations and workstations also appear to have this problem with NVIDIA GPUs. And more to the point, there never seems to be any proper solution. Some say use older drivers, some say it's the hardware, some say it's turning off 3D settings etc. but tips are always followed by other people saying they haven't worked for them.

I'll be looking to upgrade to a proper workstation soon with the intension of getting a more powerful NVIDIA card primarily because Daz uses IRAY, but I really don't want to spend a lot on an expensive NVIDIA GPU and then find I still get this problem.

As I assume most people here would be using NVIDIA GPUs to capitalize on Daz's IRAY renderring, my question is - is this really a common problem with NVIDIA cards? Is there a good chance I may just suffer this problem again regardless of what my next setup will be or does anyone know a way around this to make sure I won't get this seemingly random and hugely irritating error.

The full message reads: "Display driver stopped responding & has recovered. Display driver NVIDIA Windows Kernal Mode Driver version 397.64 stopped responding & has successfully recovered."

New product that won't render? [Beaune Courtyard]

Product I am referring to: https://www.daz3d.com/beaune-courtyard

Hey everyone,

I recently (well today, actually!) bought the Beaune Courtyard item from the DAZ Store. It's by Faveral, and having bought from this creator before, I decided to go ahead and grab this as it looks fantastic.

However, I have run into an issue that I have not encountered before - it just will not render. At all. The model loads fine and I can move around it with ease, but when I hit render (straight out of the box - no props, characters, lights etc added by me) the window opens and it just sits there. I left it as long as 13 minutes(!!) and it was still a blank window. I couldn't even cancel the render and had to force close Studio. I have tried multiple occasions now, using smaller render image settings etc but same result. I am totally baffled. I have a pretty decent spec machine, and it's never failed to render an environment before. I suspect it's to do with memory (as task manager was showing DAZ using 11.7 GB at the time of the force close!)

I think that the system memory is my system's weak link, ideally I'd like to have it up to 32GB. Do you think this could be the cause of the issue? Having said that 16GB is not a paltry amount of memory! I am sure there are lower memory machines that will render this environment just fine!

My system specs - in case it's of any help

Windows 10 Pro edition // AMD Ryzen 5 Six Core Processor @ 3.20 GHz // 16GB DDR4 Memory // 2x nVidia GTX 1070 6GB graphics cards // 1000W Cooler Master Power Supply (I think I covered everything?)

Thanks in advance to anyone who can assist!
