      <description><![CDATA[<p>I have several&nbsp;iray shaders I made myself for David 3 characters, Michael 3 characters, and Michael 4 characters. Since I like what I&#39;ve done, I would like to be able to apply these iray shaders to other characters.&nbsp;Should I save each shader&nbsp;as&nbsp;just a regular material&nbsp;preset, or as an hierarchical material preset?</p>

<p>If I apply the material preset to another figure, should I select all parts of the figure and then apply the preset? That is, will it apply correctly to the eyes, nails, skin, etc.? Or, must I select each part of the figure, such as the eyes, or just the eye surface or the pupil? If I need to select just, say, the eye surface, then doesn&#39;t that mean that I need to save multiple presets, as, for example, skin, corona, pupil, nails, etc.? If it&#39;s an hierarchical preset, and I selected all parts of the figure, would each preset then be correctly applied to all of these parts, such as skin, iris, nails?</p>

<p>What about the character maps? I don&#39;t want to save those. I&#39;d want to retain whatever character maps there are on the new figure to which I&#39;m going to apply the preset. I just want to get the iray shaders onto the new figure. Do I have to do something special so that the chracter maps are not saved with the preset? Or, does saving a preset automatically exclude the character maps?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;ve been playing around with the alembic exporter, but I&#39;ve noticed there isn&#39;t a very high level of detail on exported models, even as I raise the subdivision level (I&#39;m importing them to C4D R19). I also noticed that I can&#39;t import crease/corner data, which I think would be helpful in getting more detail. Does anyone know how I can get more detail out of alembic exports?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>First, I downloaded and installed this product (<a href="https://www.daz3d.com/fluidos-for-daz-studio" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">https://www.daz3d.com/fluidos-for-daz-studio</a>) through DIM. Then an error message popped up when I try to do the scene:</p>

<p>The scene won&#39;t work, even after moving a .dll file I thought was causing the problem. Yes I downloaded and installed *everything* available, including the pop up I got for Microsoft Visual C++. I also restarted my computer after installing the Mic. Visual as the install requested.</p>

<p>Checked the CPU &amp; GPU usage and I&#39;m not getting many cores being used (CPU 4/16) almost no GPU usage.</p>

<p>Does anyone know how you set Fluido to use all Cores?</p>

<p>I had to reinstall everything on my PC a few days ago and then at some point discovered that my default Genesis 8 Female does weird things with her thighs and shoulders when I&#39;m trying to bend her legs/arms.</p>

<p>G8 male and other Genesis generations don&#39;t seem to have such problem.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>I&#39;ve reinstalled the whole DAZ (4.10) anew once again now, downloaded the basic files for G8F, installed - she&#39;s still broken.</p>

<p>I&#39;m a new DAZ user, so not sure if it&#39;s the bones problem or weight maps, or something else.</p>

<p>The bones seem to be on place, joint adjustment doesn&#39;t do anything to them.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>Maybe during my morphing attempts I saved something somewhere that I shouldn&#39;t have to?..</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I have been having a hell of a time with LIE tattoos. Whenever I apply one my system increases render times by 6 fold or I get a solid black figure no matter how much light I hit it with.</p>

<p>The test~I took a single figure G8M with no background for this test. I applied the LIE tattoos (3x) and ran a render, 7 minutes later a totally black figure was displayed with 4 spotlights aimed at it. A usual result but not consistant. Sometimes it appears as it should but the render takes hours.</p>

<p>I then took the figure and made it a &quot;support asset&quot; saving it tattoos and all. I opened it as a new file and rendered. 58 seconds later the figure appeared as perfectly as a figure with that much light could.&nbsp;<span>I finished my render with all three figures loaded with tattoos without a hitch??</span></p>

<p>&nbsp;I am upgrading my system soon but it would be nice to understand why this seems to work?</p>

<p>Sytem~I am running a I7-3770k cpu with a GTX-660 graphics card. Plenty of drive space on a&nbsp;<span>2TB FireCuda SSHD Hybrid. So yes it is a patched up older system.</span></p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hello everyone,</p>

<p>I have decided to save up for a PC that will only be used for DAZ and 3DLight renders, not IRAY. I have saved $200 so far and would like to build or buy a computer already built if possible and was looking to spend arou d $600-$700 if possible. Could someone who has mor3 knowledge on DAZ and what kind of PC wouos be needed to render scenes quickly, be able to assist me with what kind of CPU, video card, motherboard, memory (how much is needed?) and a PSU would be good to handle 3DL renders? I currently use the latest DAZStudio but my PC is pretty outdated, Nvidia Geforce GTX 760 1GB video card, AMD processor and MB i cant remmeber their specs atm, but both were brought in 2016&nbsp;and 12GBs of RAM, which does render older things like Victoria 4, Genesis 1 and 2 fairly quickly. But Id like to upgrade to also handle Genesis 3 and 8 things as well which my computer cannot well and it sometimes takes anywhere from 5-50mins to render G3 and 8 as 3DLs in a scene. If anyone csn help me piece together a more&nbsp;modern computer for 3DL renders, i will really appreciate it!&nbsp;</p>

<br />
I&nbsp; read that the current volta architecture uses something called vram&nbsp;pooling, so it can add the vram&nbsp;of other volta&nbsp;gpus&nbsp;like 8+8=16gb.<br />
So I was wondering if the upcoming rtx series will do that too.<br />
I want to buy a new gpu&nbsp;(currently gtx 1080) but I am not sure if I should wait for the new series or not.<br />
I sometimes have heavy scenes where my single gtx1080 doesn&#39;t have enough vram&nbsp;so it dumps it on my cpu.<br />
<br />
Or should I get another 1080? But I will still have only 8gb vram,&nbsp;right?<br />
&nbsp;</p>

After several tries to recover computer, I had to reinstall windows. &nbsp;Now when I went to look for her old files, they were not there. &nbsp;I know there are some open source file recovery utilities I can put on a usb drive. &nbsp;My mum just found a 2GB thumb drive that she forgot she had. &nbsp;Is that big enough to install an open source file recovery utility to see if I can recover the info.</p>

<p>I want to also put her (and myself) into better backing up habits. &nbsp;What do you recommend?</p>

<p>I can import in either, Maya, Blender or 3d Studio Max.&nbsp; I&#39;ve tried it each and every way I can think of.&nbsp; Using an fbx, obj with mtl and nothing works.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>When I import it I get the shape but the eyes are white.&nbsp; The shades of the character like a tan doesn&#39;t show.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>When I import an animation from I clone via 3dxchange I have found that there is no root motion, meaning that x,y,z positioning and rotation are not present. The figure being a G3F clone, and hip selected for import, therefore no root motion?</p>

<p>Because of this, if the figure was walking and then bending, say from right to left it just stays in the original zero position, but the animation on the rest of the figure seems ok.</p>

<p>Is this my fault and I am doing something wrong or is there a workaround??</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I am doing a scene in the city so I only left what was visible in the render &quot;visible&quot; everything else was turned off. Should I have deleted all the rest from the scene instead? I have an older computer and I am upgrading in six weeks so I am trying any cheat I can to take the burden off my old CPU until then. Does this help or am I chasing a rabbit? I know deleting the stuff helps in load time but does turning it off have the same effect for a render or does it need it deleted to have an effect?</p>

<p>PS~I already got educated on how LIE&#39;s work so it isn&#39;t them.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I am seeing very high system RAM usage while rendering- higher than seems reasonable to me - and wonder if this is normal?</p>

<p>I am running DS 4.9.4.122 Beta on a 3 year old gaming laptop which has 16Gb of system RAM and a GTX980M with 8Gb of memory.&nbsp; It&#39;s running Win 8.1.&nbsp; I&#39;m rendering a scene with an HDRI, some simple scenery, two G3F with hair and basic clothing.&nbsp; Before rendering, DS is taking up less than 3Gb system RAM.&nbsp; When I start rendering this increases till it peaks about 12Gb for DS alone, so about 95% of system RAM is in use in total.&nbsp; Rendering is still taking place on the GTX980M, which is just as well.&nbsp; I&#39;ve seen this with many similar scenes so I doubt it is due to one &#39;rogue&#39; product.</p>

<p>Does this seem &#39;normal&#39;?&nbsp; It seems excessive to me, given the actual rendering is still on the GPU.&nbsp; What&#39;s all this RAM needed for since we are not rendering on the CPU?&nbsp; If it&#39;s not &#39;normal&#39;, what could I do to normalize it such that I could perhaps add another character to the scene, or some less basic clothing?</p>

<p>(Yes, I&#39;ll update to 4.11 in due course, just don&#39;t need the potential issues right now!)</p>

<p>I like using primitives to create floors for my &#39;diy&#39; studio sets, including covering them in tiles to get a variety of looks (think plank, parquete and such).&nbsp; However using a single large plane primitive as a floor only works with some tiles, most develop an obvious pattern if tile is set above a very small number such as 5 vert and 5 horizontal.</p>

<p>My work around was to make multiple small primitive planes connected at the edges, but getting everything lined up correctly is a real challenge... I am hoping there is some much simpler way to achieve a good looking floor.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>It has been mentionned before that if a scene exceeds what a video card can hold in its Vram, that card will be dropped by DS and render will go to CPU.</p>

<p>Now, here&#39;s a hypothetical situation. Let&#39;s say I have a gtx970 (4GB)&nbsp;and agtx 1070 (8GB) on my rig. Of course, Vram won&#39;t stack, that&#39;s a given. The cudas from both cards can still be used, from what I think I understood. However, let&#39;s say that my scene can fit in the 1070&#39;s Vram and not the 970&#39;s. Will the 970 be abandonned altogether, cudas and and ram, leaving the 1070 doing all the work, or will my render switch to 1070+cpu, or... or what else? O_O</p>

<p>I just purchased and installed Fit Control for G3F, and when I double click the Activate button with G3F selected, nothing happens. I&#39;m not getting the &quot;fit control morphs have been transferred to clothing&quot; message as in the video. Product Support doesn&#39;t actually seem to link to any. I hope someone can assist.</p>

<p>Because when I try, for example, to double click on the &quot;Genesis 3 Female UV Preset&quot;, I can see the figure glitches a little bit and nothing else happens.</p>

<p>Can you give me a suggestion? Or a document?</p>

<p>I would like to apply a G3F Skin --&gt; G3M Skin.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I recently picked up Zevo's/Draagonstorm's Pose Builder script. I knew going into it, that it required  the poses to be in duf/dsa/dsf file format.  What I didn't realize was how many PZ2 poses I had. </p>

<p>I know I can manually load the pose, and then resave the pose as a duf, but this seems like a long and tedious process... </p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>When I select an object and the have Universal tool selected. In the viewport there is a cube with the 3 arrors (red, green, blue) that you can select to move the item. When I select the translate tool the arrrow the cube is not there.&nbsp; How can i get the cube to show?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I am posting this question here prior to opening a Support Request. Hopefully someone will recognize the issue and already have a fix...</p>

<p>I recently purchased a couple of older items that are DAZ Connect supported. They show up in the Install panel, and I install them there, no problem.Then the item immediately appear in Smart Content &gt; Updates. When I attempt to update, DS crashes with a &quot;fatal error&quot; message.</p>

<p>Other items purchased at the same time (and of the same age) appear in &quot;Install&quot; but when I install, I get the same &quot;fatal error&quot; message. In this case, after re-starting DS, the product header appears in Smart Content, but with no assets, just an &quot;Update&quot; button. Selecting the Update button causes the same fatal error.</p>

<p>Uninstalling the failed install from within DS makes no difference. Locating the directory and deleting that makes no difference.</p>

<p>Running maintenance on the database makes no difference.</p>

<p>Any ideas?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hi all,</p>

<p>I have a problem with the render on photoreal.&nbsp; I&#39;m using a simple photometric spot rim, Lumin 75000, Temp 7500, Render Emitter Off, Two-Sided&nbsp;Off.&nbsp; And every time I render, the light source comes up as a disc (because I selected Light Geometry as disc, or rectangle or sphere.)&nbsp; I killed the light, then created another at the same intensity and position and again it happened.&nbsp; With the Render Emitter&nbsp;in Off position, only the light should appear but not the geometry.&nbsp; So what gives?&nbsp; Any suggestions?</p>

<p>Just can&#39;t get that sphere/disc/rectangle to disappear.&nbsp; Never happened before til now.&nbsp; Please see attached.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Just purchased&nbsp;After the war scene and wanted to export to IClone via 3DXchange pipeline- however when in loads in to IClone it&rsquo;s just a grey square! Is this because I didn&rsquo;t purchase the editable licence or can&rsquo;t it be exported in to IClone 7.22?&nbsp;</p>

<p>Sorry if the isn&rsquo;t the right place for this post - but would really appreciate some advice.</p>
