      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;m working primarily with indoor scenes and sometimes the scenes are lit well enough that I can use perspective view to pose characters and props etc. without issue and sometimes the scene isn&#39;t and the only way I can see the scene well enough to pose characters etc. is to use a camera with a headlamp turned on. The thing is when I render either scene, with the &quot;poorly&quot; lit scene posing camera deleted or at least its headlamp turned off the scenes are lit just fine in both cases, It took me a while to figure out what Iray wants in the way of lighting for indoor scenes but I&#39;ve got that pretty well licked now. But this baffling lack of lighting in the preview viewport, sometimes, is frustrating me to no end.</p>

<p>Does anyone know what the issue is? If so how do I fix it? Is this simply something to do with how the various indoor scene props are built, since I have been just buying ones that fit my needs from what seem to be well regarded artists.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;m using GenX2 with the g2&nbsp;and g3 add-ons to convert some characters from m4 to g3m, and unfortunately several of my characters look quite different (enough so that they seem like a different person, and thus can&#39;t be used in this case). I&#39;ve tested converting Lee for m4, and I can see that I get some differences there too, but less pronounced than for my own characters. Does anyone have any advice for how to improve the similarity?</p>

<p>Here&#39;s what I do:</p>

<p>Load m4 figure with morhph injections(Morphs++, Aged for m4, Ethnic faces)<br />
Load my m4 character shaping preset</p>

<p>In GenX:<br />
Drag and drop m4 base shape to the Transfer tab<br />
Drag and drop morph injections (Morphs++, Aged for M4, Ethnic faces)<br />
Select -&gt; Get values from figure in scene<br />
Select -&gt; Transfer on for all non zero values<br />
Mode -&gt; Create single morph<br />
Target -&gt; Genesis 3 Male<br />
Transfer</p>

<p>Close and load Studio just in case<br />
Load g3m figure<br />
Dial m4 and the new genX saved morph to max</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I am new to animation in Daz Studio and I am trying to create a simple animation for an Armourbot figure. My animation using aniblocks causes the figure to move in different body sections only instead of the complete figure moving in unison. All I get is a very weirdly disjointed body with parts that are either animated or remaining perfectly still.</p>

<p>I feel sure that there must be a way to &quot;glue&quot; all the bodily parts together to make them move in unison but I have no idea what that is. Any adivise would be appreciated as I have reached the end of my frustration tolerance.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hello everyone, I was wondering if its something I&#39;m doing or if the vendor might have made a mistake on&nbsp;the character&#39;s base skin texture. I&#39;ve attached two cropped .png screenshots: one&nbsp;is where the character torso texture skin meets the leg texture skin, and the other is where the arm texture skin meets the torso texture skin. As you&#39;ll see in the one image, there is a fairly conspicuous seam in the skin base texture which appears on both legs, and the same is true for the arms.</p>

<p>After clearing the scene, reloading the character(the seams are present even at this point), and loading the base texture(HS Yiyi Base Skin)&nbsp;on the Genesis 8 Female&nbsp;Yiyi character, I used the Surface Selection Tool to double check and compare&nbsp;the settings between the Torso, Arms, and Legs textures and there weren&#39;t any differences between them that would cause this. I also tried adding 1 Distant Light with default settings, with the exception that I increased the Luminous Flux(Lumens) to 128k, and I did a spot render in Iray of the affected areas and found the seams were still present regardless of the lighting used.</p>

<p>If this is due to an error on the part of the vendor during production of the product, is there a way to contact them and have them correct it? I tried going to the vendor&#39;s main page, but there wasn&#39;t any contact information. Its a&nbsp;good quality character that goes well with the base texture. It&#39;s a shame I can&#39;t get rid of the seams. I could just use a different base skin, but it doesn&#39;t go well with the character, and&nbsp;creating/modifying skin textures is outside of my &quot;artistic expertise&quot;, so to speak. Any pointers or recommendations would be appreciated, thanks!</p>

My machine does not allow me a good rendering of a character and location.       <description><![CDATA[<p>Hey all. I&#39;ve been working on a scene for a long time, and, for whatever the reason, it no longer shows the iray preview, not in interactive, or photorealistic. Instead of showing, it just remains in greyscale. I tried saving as a scene subset, unfortunately that has not worked as well.</p>

<p>My old scenes work just fine, as do any new ones. I tried setting the render settings to default, but that also has not worked.</p>

<p>The scene does render though, if I make it do a full render. So I&#39;m stumped.</p>

<p>Anyone have advice? Thank you.</p>

<p>I can&#39;t find the base genesis 8 female on the daz3d.com site for purchase.&nbsp;<br />
I downloaded the free &quot;starter essentials&quot; thinking they were giving her away like the rest of the characters, but everything was installed to &quot;MyDaz3dLibrary/data and I can&#39;t find the Genesis 8 Female.duf, Genesis 8 female.png&nbsp; or any textures.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />
I did get Morphs, Projection morphs, projection templates, tools, uv sets, and Genesis8female.dsf along with Female Eyelashes and Female Genitalia.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />
Is this all I need?&nbsp; If so I don&#39;t have a clue as to where to put them in mylibrary?</p>

<p>i use a laptop (ok spec, gtx1070) and remotly connect to my render pc (gtx1080ti *2).</p>

<p>i use&nbsp;<span>Splashtop Personal on both computers and it works almost perfect. I can navigate the sceen without lag.&nbsp;</span></p>

<p><span>But i can&rsquo;t use the sliders to control rotation, placment etc for figures. Anyone know why?</span></p>

<p>I haven&#39;t had this problem in the past, but it seems to be an issue on this render as well as a couple others.&nbsp; I haven&#39;t noticed any pattern between them.&nbsp; I&#39;ve tried replacing the character with a new model, added a smoothing modifier and have adjusted with several types of render settings.&nbsp; All end up like this.</p>

<p>Anyone know what may be the cause of the jagged edges around the figure?&nbsp; How to fix it?&nbsp;</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hi. I would like to make a new morph on a geograft object that will make sense only if you pose a character and use other morphs. On default pose and morph you will not see what you have to change. But if you pose and morph it to whatever you need - there is very annoying artifact that I want to get rid of.</p>

<p>I tried as usual and looks like my morph was stretching the whole geograft&#39;s vertices on some axis. I&#39;ve searched the net and, again, looks like it is something with some &#39;delta&#39; and some &#39;inverse deformations&#39; and even some &#39;shape keys&#39; in Blender.</p>

<p>Is there a tutorial about this workflow using 3dmax or maybe&nbsp;ZBrush? Particularly export-import. This topic is the hardest and weirdest in DAZ. In some cases you have to hide some parts, in other - use default pose, other - all zeroed. Is there a spreadsheet that I can check every time I want to export-import DAZ models to whatever and vice versa?</p>

<p>I&#39;m a bit baffled at the moment, I&#39;m in Daz 4.10pro and I&#39;m trying to build a scene using one of the handfull of skydomes that I have but no matter which one I use, I&#39;m having the same problem which is that none of the other light sources I want to use to illuminate the scene, have any effect in the actual Iray render.</p>

<p>Doesn&#39;t matter how high I drive the lumen value or change the tone mapping variables, the only light seems to be derived from the skydome. I can brighten the scene by changing the value of the skydome emitter lumens but the distant lights I want to use for example, have absolutely no effect in the render.</p>

<p>If I turn the skydome off completely, the distant lights work perfectly, so there is a conflict between those two elements of the scene.</p>

<p>The further test of rendering the scene in 3Delight confirms this as the image has rendered well.</p>

<p>I can see the effects of the additional lights on the preview screen but Iray just doesn&#39;t render with them.</p>

<p>There&#39;s a setting somewhere for this, but I have absolutely no idea where it is.</p>

<p>I&#39;ve been trying to learn how to use the Shader Mixer on DAZ 4.9 recently to make my own shaders. I checked a few tutorials out and it looked pretty straight forward. But as soon as I tried it, I hit a brick wall, sort of speak. This wall is in the form of the preview boxes that are supposed to show you how your shader looks. So far, I haven&#39;t been able to figure out why they are not displaying anything (not explained in any of the tutorials I&#39;ve found). I checked the documentation to see if there was a solution, but I had no luck there. A Google search only brings on result to an old thread on here that never got a response to the problem.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Every now and I am unable to find something in my content library but it does show up whenever I use the search function. I found out that within some Runtime folders, there is a folder called &quot;Libraries&quot;, so it&#39;s nested it seems. Why is that folder there and why does it get nested there by DIM and not just installed in the Props folder that is in the same folder as the Runtime one? To elaborate: that folder in the Libraries folder is also called &quot;Props&quot; and there are other folders as well, such as Materials and Character. Because the way it&#39;s nested, it won&#39;t show up in my content library.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hi there! Just upgraded my mac to macos mojave. Daz studio&nbsp;is working fine but when I tried to open daz install manager a message appeared saying &#39;the application cannot be opened.&quot; Any ideas?&nbsp;</p>

<p>Wish I&#39;d not been so hasty in upgrading my macos now ????</p>

<p>Edit: Thought it might be a security thing as Mojave is set to only open apps from recognised developers (daz is, but the install manager isn&rsquo;t for some reason). Enable that in settings, still wouldn&rsquo;t open.</p>

<p>I then uninstalled and reinstalled, still won&rsquo;t work. I&rsquo;m guessing I may have to wait for daz to update install manager again and then redownload it maybe?&nbsp;</p>

<p>I guess the lesson is don&rsquo;t update your operating system a day after it&rsquo;s available lol.&nbsp;</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hello all,</p>

<p>I&#39;ve created a figure which I&#39;ve used the figure setup utility and the copied rig from G3M to make a rig for.&nbsp; I&#39;ve deleted the bone groups I don&#39;t need, and added a bone chain that I do need.&nbsp; Now, I&#39;m at the point where I need to add weight maps (General, X-rotation, etc) to the bones. I can spend a half hour going to each individual bone and adding the list of maps I want (FYI, these maps are going to be the same for every single bone), but it seems that there should be a way to select ALL of the bones and then select the weight maps I want, then apply that selection.&nbsp; This would I suppose be similar to filling by bone selection groups with the entire figure selected.&nbsp; I&#39;ve done that, but I still have this annoying lack of knowledge as to how to automate the weight map selection for all of the bones in the same way.</p>

<p>Does anyone here know of a way to do this?&nbsp; I&#39;m sure by the time some helpful person posts an answer I will have done this manually, but I&#39;m thinking of the folks in the future who will be in my position now.&nbsp; I&#39;d love for a good answer to appear on their google search and thus save them the frustration that I am going through right now.&nbsp; ;)</p>

<p>One with all assets and one &quot;virgin&quot;.</p>

<p>Is it possible to export a genesis 3 female figure with dress embedding the assets in the file from the first workstation,</p>

<p>and import it on the second workstation without the needing to install tons of assets? (Like getting assets from the file itself)</p>
