Typically morph packages used to come with separate head and body morphs (creatures, etc.). Lately I've seen some for Genesis 8 that only come with one dial for the entire figure (head + body) with no slider to apply the head without the body. I do not like this at all as I like to mix morphs to create unique looking characters. Is there a way to lock out parts of a figure to prevent the morph slider from affecting it? So if I just want the head morph I can have the morph target ignore the body and just morph the head?

About a year ago I build a new beastly machine with a GTX 1070 ti. But I've been having trouble getting things to render as well as they did on my old machine (which had a GTX 960). Today, I was trying to render a scene with 1 figure, a house, some lights, and terradome. I even tried outputing at 1000px, but within a few seconds of the render Daz crashes. It's driving me absolutely nuts.

I have an error report, but of course I have no idea what any of it means... Though I did submit a ticket. We'll see if that produces anything.

For example, 30 frames, Frame 0-15 the bangle reduces to halfway visible, then from 16-30 is where the bangle becomes invisible.

Would anyone know how I achieve this? Thank you!

A Shader that maps to the Alpha Channel?

So I have an idea, and I'd like to solicit some better informed opinions:

My main project has a lead protagonist who is a Drow Priestess. As such, she is cruel, violent, and volatile, but the arc of the story is about her redemption.

I thought it would be funny to also produce a meta project where she is vacationing in real world Los Angeles, and being interviewed by me seaside in Venice Beach, as if she were any other up-and-coming actress, playing the role of a Drow Priestess. The rub is that she's not an actress, she really is a Drow Priestess experiencing Los Angeles. Pure fish-out-of-water trope... I can think of a million bits like she originally gated in to Seattle, but didn't like it because the weather was too much like back home and she would of course be wearing sunglasses and an "I Heart LA" t-shirt. Maybe you have to be a D&D player, I dunno.

Anyway, I'm thinking about the technical aspects of doing so, mixing real world footage with the render. What first comes to my inexperienced mind is to set up the lighting, camera position, and camera setting to match the real world setting. I would go to Venice Beach tomorrow and measure out a spot and model it in Hexagon.

If that isn't an unworkable idea from the git go, I see the need for, say, the part of the table and bench she would be sitting at to map to the alpha channel where it occludes her, so that I can simply compose the rendered images on top of the real ones. This is fundamentally different from transparency, where the pixels would map to the rendered object behind the rendered transparent one, which is not what is needed. Maybe a green-screen object or something?

Or is this sort of thing done in post processing, or am I TOTALLY approaching this incorrectly?

Hello folks, I've spent a considerable amount of time searching the internet for this particular bug but even wording it properly is difficult. So bear with me when reading the issue ahead:

The program starts fine, it will lead me to a blank scene in no time and all appears in order. The first clue that something is wrong is when I move the mouse cursor away from viewport pane it will lag 10 seconds before realizing it (it moves fine but it retains the shape of whatever tool was present on the viewport such as rotation or coordinates).

The real disaster it lags about 10 seconds for any action I attempt on the viewport even on blank scene it will lag on whatever I try to do like moving the camera with the buttons at the right side of the viewport. This includes moving parts of a figure: 10s to select the part, 10s to select any of the rotations circles, 10 more seconds before it accepts I am trying to move it. Once it realizes that I can move the part freely as long as my keep holding the mouse left button. As soon as I let go it will freeze again 10 more seconds.

While it's not completely impossible to use, it makes even minor tweaks an excercise in frustration and jaw grinding, which makes it impossible to achieve all but simplest of poses or even just finding the right framing for the scene (each camera movement has a 10 sec lag as well).

This problem doesn't occur every single time I start my computer, maybe about 3/4 of the time, In the past I tried using different compatibility modes, reinstalling the program and even went as far as formatting my whole computer (back then it wasn't the only thing not working flawlessly. Nothing ever solved the issue

Has anyone else ever encountered this? I'd be really grateful for any help.

I have a Windows 10 computer Intel Core i7-3630QM CPU 2,40GHzx2; 8GB RAM and nvidia Gforce 730.

When I for example use the cube to rotate the scene/camera view, it has normal speed in one direction, but either extremly slow or non at all in the other direction. If I want to change the angle with just one degree it is faster to move the scene in one direction 379 degrees instead of just one degree in the "slow direction".

The phenomenon is there also with a completly empty scene but it's doable, but with more and more items in the scene, the problem gets amplified to the extent...I get mad.

Is there a setting somewhere that can make navigation be different wheter you go clockwise or anti-clockwise?

So I read the description/guide and it says I should have ONE of the following Plugins: Look at my hair (which is additionally 50 $) or LAMH Player for free. So I loaded the free plugin and installed it.
But then I also would need the catalyzer (another 13 $) so I purchased this, as well. But now I need a PRESET for the fur!
Then I clicked at the LAMH Pane on "Get more hair" and landed on furrythings.com, where I loaded Wolf2.0AMfur. Tried to attach this but now it always says "no valid figure selected".

So do I just misunderstand something? Is there a way to get this fur visible in the render without buying expensive plugins?

I recently got a new laptop and downloaded the latest Daz3d, then I transferred over some scenes I had saved on my old laptop. The scenes were comprised of Daz figures from the content database, but also some imported obj files and some texture files. Well everything that was OG daz content transferred fine, but it left all the textures I had added behind. I get that, and I understand I need to go to the surfaces tab and relink those models to their texture files. But everything that had been imported as an obj just turned into an amorphous blob, as if there was some link to the original obj file (still on the old computer) that was broken. As if when I imported them into the scene initially, they weren't really in the scene but just being referenced, if that makes any sense.

Do I need to hunt down all those old obj files and bring them to the new computer and rebuild those scenes? Or am I just missing some setting? Is there something analogous to the surfaces tab that I need to use to link those imported models to their original obj files, like a texture?

I'd appreciate any advice. I'm a pretty simplistic user, but I can generally navigate around within Daz and find things.

Numerous times now, I've been having a problem where textures (such as scleras or sometimes geoshell related) have gone missing, leaving there just blackness in their place or other weirdness, and it's seemingly based on the positioning of the figure. I noticed that when you position the figure to zero, or close to it on all axes, the textures reappear, but I'm not sure what else factors into this. I would provide an example render, but having a pretty slow computer and being frustrated to the point of contemplating jumping off a cliff, I simply don't have the patience as I'm writing this, and of course when I try to slim the scene down in order to speed up rendering time the problem disappears. I think the problem speaks for itself though and doesn't need any examples, hopefully. It happens regardless of which products I use. This leads me to believe it's a problem dependant on how much stuff is in the scene, and small stuff in the background is simply ignored for resource-related reasons? Though I found a workaround mentioned above, this obviously limits the stuff you can do. I was considering doing something based on "It Follows", and if you've seen that, you'll know it includes shots of characters in the foreground as well as lurking in the background. Therefore it would be really great if there were a way to eliminate the problem altogether so characters in both the fore and background look as they should and not like demons. Maybe there's something obvious I'm missing but I'm still relatively new to this and I don't even know what to google for in order to find a solution.

If it's of any relevance, I use the iray engine and I make sure that all products I use are iray compatible. Max samples and max time are set as high as they can be set with rendering quality enable set to off and rendering converged ration on 99. Firefly filter and architectural sampler are also enabled. Everything is set so high in order to guarantee grain-free results. I obviously don't wait for it to finish though, I cancel it when I think it's rendered enough. Mentioning all this in case it might be related to the forementioned texture problem.

That's all for now, thanks in advance!

Edit - Should mention the problem only occurs when rendering

Edit 2: As I've looked deeper into this and done some research, it seems this is a problem that affects surfaces such as some in the eyes and similar and it happens when a figure is far away from the world centre, just as I suspected. So this is actually a thing. Well, if anyone finds a way around this then lemme know pretty please and thanks. Guys at daz, pls patch this if you can pretty please and thanks

This has bothered me for quite a while, but Victoria 7 normal torso map seems wrong around the clavicle area. I have checked many others generation 3 figures normal maps and they are fine. I wonder if it is a mistake not solved or it is just made that way, but it seems obvious just by looking at the normal map that it's going to render bad.

As I've seem to experience every postgreSQL CMS problem, and eventually fixed it, on my new re-install of install manager and daz I'm coming up with this new issue. I'm attacking a pic of what it looks like in install manage after I download and install both daz and postgreSQL CMS. The "uninstall - ?" Is new to me, and clicking on the "i" icon says "could not find readme for postgreSQL CMS (win64)."

Besides that everything seems to work fine. Any clues would be great. Thanks.

Hey there. It seems like with some figures (in this case Murphy), whenever the caustic sampler is enabled, this garbage happens (loads of blue fireflies overtaking the entire figure). It's especially noticable from far away as you can tell but it's just as much an issue up close as well. Is this simply a limitation of the software or is there a way around? Can the surfaces be tweaked in some way? Thanks in advance for replies

Hey everyone,

I've got a bit of an issue since my re-installation of Windows 10. Now, when I load my G8M start file (my own created file with base figure, profile lighting etc) I am getting an error box approximately halfway through loading the scene:

If I load any other fgure, it loads perfectly well with no errors. It is only when loading a scene file containing a G8M figure that this happens.

I have checked the error log, and see the following large block of text:

I can see there is a problem with one of the aging head morph packs I have purchased, but as I recall there is more than one. It doesn't seem to specify an exact product - is there any way of pinning it down so I can remove this annoying error? I mean to say, it's not affecting the perfoemance of DAZ, it's just an annoyance when opening a file containing a G8M.

Thanks in advance

Particularly older items, but in general... what makes an item sim faster?

I converted Night Guard for Genesis 2 Male... just the long tunic. On the basic Genesis 2 Male shape, it sims FAST. When applied to a morphed Genesis 2 Male, the sim slows to a crawl (but it sill worked as you can see in the attached image).

Tried with Sherwood Hunter, just the hood... which ought to have been relatively simple and it was painfully slow.

Then there's the officially dForce Wise Wizard stuff which (despiste some kind of awful settings) with 4 layers of dynamics still sims faster than something simple like the dForce Knight Cloak.

Thoughts? How can I speed up some of these slower sims (oh and I know to hide things or make them not visible to the sim... so its not that).
