      <description><![CDATA[<p>I picked up AM&#39;s crested porcupine a while back, and every time I try to load it into Daz Studio 4.10, it crashes the program. I can&#39;t even load the file that says 3Delight for it, so I&#39;m not sure what is going on.&nbsp; I have had no real issues with any of the other AM animals whether 3Delight, LAMH or the Catalyzer (Even though I don&#39;t have an NVidia driver).&nbsp; I&#39;m past the point of returning it, but I really don&#39;t want to, anyway.&nbsp; I just wish I knew what is causing it to hate Daz Studio.&nbsp; Poor shy little porcupine. :(&nbsp; Has anybody else had issues with this model? <a rel="nofollow" href="https://www.daz3d.com/rodents-by-am-crested-porcupine">Rodents by AM: Crested Porcupine</a></p>

<p>When I made the morph and applied it to Antonia, I saved that as a scene file.</p>

<p>When I load that scene file, I can easily find my morph slider in the Shape section.</p>

<p>But the morph slider does not appear anywhere when I load the Antonia Standard figure &quot;raw&quot;, so to speak. I want it to appear there.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;m hoping someone here can help. I&#39;m writing a bunch of utilities for manipulating BVH files that I hope will be useful for the Daz community. Automatic re-targeting is at the top of my list, but I&#39;m held up by a few things where I don&#39;t understand how Daz requires things:</p>

<p>1. G3s and 8s have those extra twist bones. I understand that in Daz Studio&#39;s UI, say, lShoulderBend&#39;s twist drives lShoulderTwist&#39;s twist. But what should an imported BVH look like? Should it even have an lShoulderTwist node at all? Maybe it has one, but it only has one channel for the twist? And what about the seeming conflict between the rotations from lShoulderBend and lShoulderTwist? Wouldn&#39;t one &quot;overwrite&quot; the other, so one should be set to zero, or something? How is this handled?</p>

<p>2. So, assume I am trying to map a simpler skeleton to a G8. What do I do when I get to, in the simpler format, something like LeftShoulder, which would have a child of LeftForeArm, but no twist bone inbetween them? When writing out a BVH file to be read in and applied to a G8, is it OK to &quot;skip&quot; bones in the hierarchy that were not present in the original BVH file? Or must all bones be present, and just zeroed?</p>

<p>3. Does the channel order in the BVH file implicitly set the rotation order for the joints of the skeleton to which the BVH is being applied?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hey guys, currently working in a small 6 person project over here in NZ. We really want to start using Daz in our pipeline as it fits in perfectly with our use case and scope.<br />
We&#39;re currently trying to get motion capture data onto the Daz rigs inside unreal atm. One of our members picked up the Daz to Maya plugin and that was great for getting the model animated inside of Maya, but once we have that (and then clean up in Maya) what&#39;s the best way to get the model into the Unreal engine with the animations?<br />
<br />
We&#39;ve tried importing the FBX from Maya and that works great, the animation is brought across successfully, however, all the materials are now messed up.<br />
We&#39;ve also tried doing the proper unreal export from Daz into Unreal and then tried moving the animations from the Maya export onto the rig of the Daz export, using retargeting manager but we&#39;re having a lot of issues there as well. Really wondering what the best solution is here, would be great to hear from you guys. Big fan of the software, just needs to fit it into our pipeline you know! :)</p>

I am using a cloak with hood on genesis 8 and apply a semi trasparent or sheer material shader but instead of showing her hair through the hood it is showing her bald head. I want the hair to show through of course. Is there a fix for this? Thanks for any help.</p>

<p>I have a number of Age of Armor lighting rigs from older Daz environments... I would like to put them to use, rather than just uninstall another old item that was very useful until IRay took over. But I have no idea how to go about this conversion.&nbsp; I would need to do it once, and save the result as a NEW personal product so the settings are ready to go.</p>

<p>Anyone tried this? Can it be done? If so ... How?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Is it me, or when I do &quot;save as&quot; --&gt; Pose Preset and choose &quot;Current Frame Only&quot; that DAZ hangs and spins it&#39;s wheels for a very long time, but using the &quot;Animated Range&quot; is lightning fast?&nbsp; Been this way for several versions so I&#39;m wondering if it&#39;s me or just not that important.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>Also, why is it that when I open a saved .duf file of any length, it ALWAYS loads only 217 frames and I have to remind it to extend the range to the proper number of frames??? Annother annoyance that&#39;s been around many many moons and revolutions of Earth (Mars too for that matter).</p>

<p>I don&#39;t get this one. I&#39;ve tried to use this product a number of ways on a number of different models and it always comes out looking badly. Base Victoria 8 model with the Victoria 8 Fix Slider at 100%, I still have clipping into the face.</p>

<p>Some of them don&#39;t even appear.</p>

<p>Any thoughts on how best to utilize this morph? It&#39;s kinda pricey for having to draw them in post production.</p>

<p>I have what I hope is a simple question on Hard drives and content storage.</p>

<p>I have quite a bit of 3rd party content on an old FreeAgent Hard drive. &nbsp;I&#39;ve been a bit worried about it since its been in service a long time. &nbsp;To be specific. &nbsp;The Volume was created in September 2008. &nbsp;So it a bit over 10 years old and still running fine. &nbsp;But I&#39;m beginning to think I&#39;m pushing my luck on its age. &nbsp;Now &nbsp;Heres the thing. &nbsp;Some of this content is being used in various projects I&#39;m still working on. &nbsp;So I want to still be able to open these files. &nbsp;Now the question:</p>

<p>If I buy another drive, (possibly another FreeAgent drive) &nbsp;And it has the exact same name on my desktop. &nbsp;Does that mean Daz will just be able to access it as before and wont even notice the change?</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>2ndly, If I get say a LaCie or some other brand drive. &nbsp;And just change the name to FreeAgent Drive. &nbsp;Will that cause problems or not?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;m in the middle of a funk with my rig, I have to wait till after the holidays to finish buying the last 16gbs of ram I need.</p>

<p>I can work on my renders&nbsp;till then on either two verions of my rig.</p>

<p>Version 1, Z97-K, i7-4790, 2 x 1080s with 32gbs of ram</p>

<p>or&nbsp;</p>

<p>Version 2, Z370, i5-8600k, 2 x 1080s with only 16gbs of ram - this would be the mobo and cpu I upgraded to....but i haven&#39;t finished off my ram.</p>

<p>It&#39;s worth noting that I never got to run the 1080s on my original rig (z97 and 4790) so i&#39;m not sure how that would go.&nbsp;</p>

<p>What do you think?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I have a question regarding the iray decal kit. I also use the iray wet clothes kit and that one works just fine. But with the decal kit I can&#39;t seem to put any materials on it. I am in Iray preview mode, the default square is in position but it won&#39;t do anything when I click the material presets. Nothing happens even the Undo option does not register the material application. The square is oriented properly, the arrow is pointing away from the wall and either way the other side is blank as well. What am I missing here?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Alright so to better explain what I&#39;m asking: I like to use older Gen 3/Gen 2 wearables on my Gen 8 items but with how many I have now its hard to access them quickly (or remember their names) when I have Daz Connect set to &quot;unfiltered.&quot; I&#39;m wondering if there&#39;s an option I&#39;m not seeing that will make unfiltered Daz Connect faster and easier to navigate for finding Gen 3 or lower items to parent to my Gen 8 models?</p>

<p>I&#39;ve gotten by with adding in a Gen 3/2 model to look around and see my options and saving wearables I use a lot as Gen 8 wearables, but the first one can be a bit time consuming and the other will murder my computer if I save&nbsp; ALL of them for Gen 8.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Just before Iray appeared on Daz I purchased a Mac which has an&nbsp;AMD Radeon graphics card (its called Sods Law I believe). The cpu is a&nbsp;3.5 GHz Intel Core i5, using this some renders are pretty quick, but others that I want to do take 24 hours or more.</p>

<p>I can&#39;t change the video card on the Mac, so I am looking at getting a Windows machine with Nvidia card to run alongside it. The advantages as far as Daz is concered is not only ?much? faster rendering, but being able to do other work&nbsp;on Daz at the same time as rg render.</p>

<p><span>Does anyone here know or can point me in the direction of info on which card should I go for &amp;</span>&nbsp; how much faster rendering on a machine with such a&nbsp; card be? &nbsp;etc. etc.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Last week one of my many harddrives crashed. The good news is that it wasn&#39;t the one with all my Daz3d project files or content on it. The bad news is that it was the one with the Daz3d application on it.</p>

<p>I reinstalled Daz on a new drive and pointed it to the location of all my content. The same location it was before. But now when I open any of these files next to nothing loads - from hair to shoes I get a &quot;files cannot be found error&quot; even though they are exactly where they were before - drive letter, path - everything is unchanged.</p>

<p>Someone in another thread described how you can load the items that make up the old scene into a new scene and save that as temp.daz. If you do that for all of the items in the scene it should recreate the missing files and allow you to open the old scene file. I tested this and it does work and on a small scale it would be reasonable. But I now have hundreds of daz files that won&#39;t load.</p>

<p>Please tell me there is a solution that doesn&#39;t involve loading thousands of various clothes and enviroment objects into temp files to get my work back? :(</p>

<p>Did work everything well, so far. But it seems that the new height ignores the eyelashes or hair, they just don&#39;t move the shape.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Win 7 64.  Receiving error in log file upon trying to export user data through PostgreSQL on Daz 4.8.0.55  </p>

<p>The export itself appears to start in Daz, it says Gathering User Data, like normal, but then never proceeds with the counter starting at 1%.  It just shows the hourglass thing like it is loading, but then just stops after a couple minutes.</p>

Last working Valentina data file consists of 4 user data files, in addition to metadata.<br />
UserData_1.dsx<br />
UserData_2.dsx<br />
UserData_3.dsx<br />
UserData_4.dsx</p>

<p>I can reset database and then re-import the data just fine.  Just cannot then subsequently export.  I can though, after resetting database, create a couple of categories and then export fine through PostgreSQL, so PostgreSQL seems to function normal with a smaller database capacity.</p>

<p>Also, I can uninstall PostgreSQL and restart back with Valentina, and then export data fine, as a workaround, and then reinstall to go back to the more secure PostgreSQL to access and continue to add more categories, etc.  In other words, use PostgreSQL while adding categories and using the software, and then every once in a while uninstall it with the install manager, open up Daz and check log to see it is running Valentina, then export through Valetina, and then once exported, go back to PostgreSQL by reinstalling.  (To be honest, I hadn't really felt the need to backup the data since using PostgreSQL as it works very well and I encountered no issues, I am just hesitant to not have backups with all the Valentina database collapses I had experienced in the past.)</p>

<p>Wondering if this error has anything to due with a larger user database file.  I did try reinstalling, resetting databases, using the conversion tool, etc.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>After a couple years away, I have just upgraded to the latest 4.10 from 4.7 and have maxed out my C: drive with still more content to download.</p>

<p>In C:&gt;Users&gt;Public&gt;Public Documents&gt;DAZ 3D&gt;Install Manager&gt;Downloads</p>

<p>That folder is filled with compressed files and my C: drive is maxed out. I&#39;m wondering if I can move that content to another internal drive. I&#39;m pretty sure I told Install Manager to put my storefront purchased content in that second drive, but when I woke up this morning my C: drive was completely choked with no space left and I got error messages that many remaining downloads had nowhere to be downloaded to.</p>

<p>I have to make space and I can&#39;t tell if all these zipped files are backups because of the upgrade. I didn&#39;t delete the old 4.7 version and don&#39;t know what has to remain on C:</p>

<p>I have to either move or delete a whole lot of files and would like to know what I can safely move to my second internal drive which has lots of space and this is what I bought it for.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Help, I used to have this working fine, but since I switched monitor to a 55 inch 4k Samsung TV, it doesn&#39;t wanna load and gives me a FATAL ERROR. I thought the settings were messed up from previous install with previous small monitor, so I uninstalled Daz and reinstalled, but STILL same error. Can we NOT use 4k monitors or TVs for Daz? or what&#39;s the trick to get it to load please?&nbsp;</p>

<p>I&#39;m trying to simulate a scene that involves the follwing cloak on a G8 figure -&nbsp;</p>

<p>It will simulate fine alone. It will simulate fine with a wind node set to blow back or away from the G8 figure. However, my ultimate goal is to get the cape to blow to the side and <em>forward,&nbsp;</em>so that it billows up against her leg. Every single time I try this, the simulation will either error or DAZ will crash to desktop completely. It happens as soon as the cloth hits the body/armor. Is this something that cannot be done? I&#39;ve tried using the default dForce settings that come with the cloak, and I&#39;ve also tried using the various options here -&nbsp;<a rel="nofollow" href="https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-master-cloth-simulation-presets">https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-master-cloth-simulation-presets</a>&nbsp;(including turning off self-collision).</p>

<p>My system specs should allow for me to do pretty much whatever I want, so that shouldn&#39;t be the problem (AMD Ryzen 7 1800X w/ EVGA GTX 1080TI FTW3 and 32GB Corsair Vengeance 3200 RAM)</p>
