hi guys,

if anyone can help me figure it out, I will very appreciate

I had a G2 character(Aiko 6) wanted to dress G3's cloth.

and here is the problem.

I think it's because the character I used from this asset "https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-3-female-for-genesis-2-female-s"

since the foot pose fix can correctly apply on normal G3 character.

any idea how can I solve this ?

---------------------

update, when I click on the pose fix, an error appear, in log file it said

2018-12-19 00:29:22.013 Invalid hierarchy for selected node(s) and "preset_hierarchical_pose" type; no root(s) found.
2018-12-19 00:29:22.013 Error reading file, see log for more details.

I assume it's because the pose fix can't find the G3 female....

I am not new to Daz or Poser. However, after a long haitus, I've returned.

Strangely, there's this thing called Daz Studio 10 that, well, does not work for me.

Here's my issue - I load up my content using the IM. If I want to inject a body morph from Daz Genesis 8 that was included with the bundle it doesn't work.

If I want to use some of my older Renderosity content, it doesn't work either.

I have loaded the library by letting Daz "do what it do." (user\*.*\documents\My Daz Library). Doesn't work.

Then I deleted that pile, created a faster library on one of my M.2 drives for a faster render pipeline, and called it x:\My Daz Library\New Library. Used IM to shove all of the packages into this New Library folder. It's all there and all a valid heiarchy.

Dropped my Renderosity files into the Poser Content where applicable, and stuck the Daz3D compatible items in their respective folders in runtime, data, people, etc.

I can see the items.

Load G8F. Choose a Character in people\G8F and double click the morph - computer does something but no change to the figure and no error. I've dragged the morphs over to the character and selected "apply to genesis8 female", "merge into scene" "parent to G8F", etc. Clicked on the area to be morphed like "head" and nope, not a thing happens. Blood pressure rises, tho.

The character acts like it's locked. Poses, no problems. Body and face morphs, fuggeddaboudit. It just doesn't respond. Oh, wait. I can change eye colors and lip colors...

I've watched about 300 videos, both the useful and the "blind leading the blind" types. I've read about five thousand posts, 95% are about loading content and I've done those things. Checked my library settings, folder heiarchy, etc at least a fifty times. Deleted and reinstalled 25-30 times.

Just for the fun of it, I loaded an old version of Daz Studio 4.1 from 2014 or so - works great, no worries, and the content works. Whaaaattt??

What am I missing? Someone please help me before I go postal and put a hammer thru my monitor.

Thanks in advance -

As collisions won't (apparently) lat me have two sources of deformation for one target, I thought I cold deform once, export the matress as obj, reimport it, replace the original matress and then have the second character bring its contribution. However, no matter what I do, my exported obj always includes the matress and the first character. I know there is a solution wioth "grouping" but I must be missing a spot. Can someone please break it down for me ? :/

Hi there,

I'm working on a scene using Urban Future 5, and the additional lights and camera settings that can be purchased with it. The scene I'm trying to render, in particular, is using camera and render setting #1, which defaults to Sun-Sky Only mode (image attached). However, I really want to add some additional lights to draw attention to my subject's face. I've read that I can change the Environment settings to Dome and Scene and then remove the environment map...but it doesn't seem to work the way I was expecting. When I do this, the scene gets all blown out beyond belief. I don't have any additional lights in the scene yet...just the subject himself. The sun settings, as well as all the other render settings remain the same. I tried tweaking around with the tone mapping, but it's not really helping, not to mention that the bloom gets all whacky as well. What I was really hoping was to have Stonemason's perfect "back alley" lighting...and then just add my own rim and fill lights to my subject to make his face stand out more. Am I doing something wrong here? Can I use mesh lights to accomplish what I want?

At first the images for the products werent showing, however the products still showed and loaded as they normally would.

I decided to try to reset the database and re-import the metadata through the contend database manager, but when I go to "Re-Import Metadata" instead of showing a list of products with metadata, it flashes a loading screen and does nothing else.

I was wondering if I could simply locate the misplaced files and retun them to their original directory (and if so how and where are they kept), or if I have to redownload and reinstall all of my products?

Because I already have the model in Unity as a separate file, I would like to export the bones only (or perhaps that is called "Rig"?)

I don't need the model, and I don't want to have the overhead in my export file.

What I would like is to only export the animation.

Therefore I select Export -> FBX.

In the options dialog, I select only "Animations" and leave the other items on the left side un-checked, so I do not export this model.

It does export something, but the file is only 8 kb in size, so it basically doesn't contain anything.

How could I make DAZ export only the animation with the rig?

I just saved a pose, and I'm 100% sure I saved it perfectly, because the 100 poses I saved before it (it's #101 in a list, if that makes a difference) all work flawlessly. This pose is turning off the limits for just the side-to-side control of the pelvis bone, and turning it much farther than I want it to. I turn the limits back on, save it properly with those limits, and sure enough, when I go to test it, it does it again. I shut down Daz completely, restart, and it still does it. I've tried zeroing the figure, the figure pose, everything I could think of.

What happened? I'm feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

I don't know if this matters, but I've been using V3Digitime's Pose Mixer while I work, but I always zero out all the locks before I save.

ETA: I got it to work. Not sure how, but what seems like it did it was to go through each of the V3Digitime's Pose Mixer's unlock settings and manually unlock each rather than simply selecting "Unlock all Pose Rotations".

So I had some hard drive issues this week and ended up haviing to completely replace the drive that My Library was on. I decided to take the opportunity to move My Library to an external drive which I'd been wanting to do anyway, but now Install Manager will not start. I get the password screen, enter my password (or check "work offline," same issue occurs with both) and then Install Manager just hangs forever with a "not responding" message.

Was there something in the old My Library folder that IM needs to run properly? Or is something in IM pointing at the old drive and it won't start with that set? Is there a settings file somewhere for IM that I need to delete?

I'm on Windows 10 Home edition and installed Install Manager to the default location.

Anyone have any thoughts on how I can get Install Manager working again?

EDIT: Ok, this somehow fixed itself via the tried and true "Did you try turning it off and back on again?" method.

Hello!

I have imported a Genesis 2 model into mixamo.com and animated it.

mixamo.com of course re-rigs the model, but I thought it would still work right.

No when I try to copy / paste the re-rigged model onto an original Genesis 2 Female model, everything works great, except the right hand.

Here is a screenshot of my procedure.

Does anybody have any idea what I could do to fix the problem?

Thank you!

Hello!

I have followed a tutorial to get an animation.

This worked perfectly fine, and in Autodesk FBX Viewer, I can see an absolutely smooth animation on Genesis 2 Female.

When I import the avatar + animation in DAZ3D and view it, it animates fine.

However, once I apply the animation to a new Genesis 2 Female in Animate2, it "hops".

Can anybody tell me what's going on here and how to fix that?

I have recorded a video here to show the problem.

There seems to be a discrepancy between the original Genesis 2 Model and the avatar exported from mixamo.

But I don't see how to fix that.

Thank you.

I've run into "Duplicate Formula" errors before - cases where two different morphs or whatever declare the same property name. When those come up, the DS log indicates the file it's not happy with, so they're usually reasonably easy to trace down.

I've run into a new one with a scene that a colleague sent to me along with some custom comment - a version of the message I've never seen before:

2018-12-13 18:13:46.098 WARNING: fileinput\dzassetdaz.cpp(5970): Duplicate formula found linking xOrigin & Value in [DUF FILE NAME]
2018-12-13 18:13:46.247 WARNING: fileinput\dzassetdaz.cpp(5970): Duplicate formula found linking yOrigin & Value in [DUF FILE NAME]
2018-12-13 18:13:46.395 WARNING: fileinput\dzassetdaz.cpp(5970): Duplicate formula found linking zOrigin & Value in [DUF FILE NAME]

I get a whole series of these. Where I've put [DUF FILE NAME], DS lists the file that I'm in the process of loading, not something buried off in my content directory, and there's nothing immediately before or after these lines (there are many copies of the three I've shown) that references another DUF or DSF file.

Any gurus have an idea what might be causing this, and what I should do to try to track it down/eliminate it?

I downloaded a portrait light set from another CG site, and copied the files into the appropriate Daz folders (Light Presets and Runtime/Textures, IIRC). Since it doesn’t show up in Smart Content, I locate the presets in Content Library, but double-clicking a preset does nothing, no lights are loaded. The undo command does show that I just loaded that particular light preset, however. Loading one of the Daz included light sets from the Smart Content window works as expected. I’m almost positive I placed the files in the correct folders. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Computer Crashes when Rendering in Iray? Memory_Management BSOD?

Hello! I recently builted up my new eig. Here are all the parts: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/hcKLBP .. GTX 1080 8GB Overclocked x 2 .. 32 GB of RAM .. i7-7700K 4.2 GHz processor. The link speaks for itself.

But in any case, my computer seems to love crashing with the Memory_Management Blue Screen of Death when I render with Iray. I've run a memory diagnostic and there doesn't appear to be anything wrong with the memory cards. My PC recognises my 32 GB. I keep the subD on my models relatively low, but I also rarely have more than two models per scene. What's more is that 99% of my scenes are devoid of any physical props in the background, and I light up my scenes via HDR Environment Maps. I've been forced to utilise scripts to dramatically reduce the resolution of the texture maps.

I have my scene files from my older rig where I only had 16 GB of RAM and a single GTX 760. Surprisingly enough these older scenes appear to cause my new system to crash during rendering too, even though my older rig had no issue rendering them.

I have Daz fully updated. In my render settings, I just have my two GPUs selected for preview and for rendering. OptiX acceleration is enabled. I'm not sure what's making my PC crash so frequently when rendering in Iray but I'm hoping there are other users who have experienced similar issues and can, perhaps, lead me in the right direction in solving it.

Thank you for your time and consideration!

I'd like to create a scene with lots of human figures. However, I have so many morphs for G8F/G3F/whatever that populating a scene in DAZ gets laggy and hard to handle. So, I'd like to create a full character that has hair, clothes, pose, etc., and export it as an OBJ and bring it back into the main scene. I have no problems saving the OBJ and reimporting it, but I can't seem to figure out the right settings to export the materials so that those come back as well. Instead, I just get the figure without any textures.

Is it possible to do this, and if so, what settings do I need to use?

Thanks very much in advance!

I recently purchased AoA's Advanced Lights along with the related presets for use with my 3Delight renders. I like the lights so far - they render much faster than others I have used but I'm having a significant issue. My models eyes render a hazy white. You can sort od see the pupil under the white and a vague outline of the iris but there is no color. I've tried different setting with the lights, with my render, and with the surfaces on the eyes and iris and still they render that milty white. Has anyone else encountered this and any suggestions on how I could fix?

Imagine texturing a disk. It has two circular surfaces to texture. I’m wondering which of two circle-texturing methods would be less taxing on a GPU at render time.

Method 1: The normal method. Fill in the circles with quads and tri’s, UV map them and apply the texture image(s) to the UV mapping.

Method 2: Superimposed squares with transparency maps. Don’t fill in the circles with any faces. Leave that object as just the cylindrical edge of the disk. Instead, superimpose a square plane over each circle of the disk, and parent the squares to that disk cylider. Then UV map the texture image(s) to the square planes. Use a transparency map to make the area of the square planes outside the circle turn invisible.

Method 2 reduces geometry. But I wonder whether this advantage is cancelled out by other factors I don’t know much about.
