G8F comes with a G3F clone that matches the G8F zero pose. I also followed a guide for morph transfer which incidentally created another G3F clone for G8F, this one matching G3F's zero pose. Both of these seem to work for autofit without issue. I'm not choosing an outfit type when I test this. Is there something else going on, to make the specific pose not matter? I'm sure that if I made a G3F clone with limbs bent in random directions, it would not convert clothes properly...

(You can substitute G2F or G1 for G3F, above, as well. Same story there.)

I see a few posts on this, but I got kinda lost, so wanted to start fresh. I want to make a Genesis 3 Male figure (Simon) into a Genesis 8 Male Figure. I was directed to this link, but there are a few things that come up differently on my computer than in these directions, which I found out through trial and error last night.

https://sickleyield.deviantart.com/journal/Tutorial-Morphs-from-Genesis-3-to-8-accurate-way-735130233

I got to the last set of 7 instructions and got stopped at around number 5 (SOOO CLOSE!!) I got the attached error. Wondering if anyone had any experience with this? What did I do wrong? If I find the answer, I will be sure to update this thread.

My first thought as to why this didn't work is because I started with the Simon G3M Figure and a Basic G8M figure, but I couldn't seem to find a G3M base model, which I totally thought I downloaded months ago... I found a G3F base model, but not the G3M base model.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Greetings. Having trouble googling this.

I made a custom humanoid figure in Hexagon. I created bones by cutting/pasting polys to create separate objects. Peeking at the .obj file confirms that these are "g"roups. And the DS Figure Setup tab accepts these groups as bones, and I can create the figure. But when adding weight maps and bending the limbs, I see that the groups aren't welded together, so that posing the limbs opens holes in the figure. Where did I go wrong?

I have tried checking most of the export options (for .obj) in Hexagon... "Merge equal points" and "remove duplicate points" seem like obvious contenders although I have no idea if these are really relevant to my problem...

Thanks for your thoughts.

Some time ago, I had a strange problem when posing genesis 8 characters. I started noticing that when I used the "Eyes closed" dial, my character would not completely close the eyes (see attached image). At the time I first noticed the issue, I was able to trace back the problem which was related to a wrong instruction of a character called LiNa. By renaming the module "MCMs_LEyeClose_LiNa.dsf" located into the morphs folder of the character, everything went back to normal. The character's creator eventually updated the module, and that fixed the issue for ALL the genesis 8 characters I have.

Now, after a while (and new characters installation) I am noticing that the base genesis 8 figure can't close both eyes in the right way. Finding wich of the characters I own is generating the issue is nearly impossible...

Question: is there a way to find who is generating the issue?

Thank you,

I back up this directory in order to preserve my install manager manifests. A while back, I had to do a disk reformat, and DIM was left thinking that I needed to download/install everything for the first time.

3. F:\Users\Me\Documents\DAZ 3D

I am backing this on up because I see that it contains "My Daz Connect Library."

So what do you think? Does this look complete, or there other directories you'd reccommend adding to my backup? Thanks folks.

I did everything like in this video. I tried installing both with manual copypasta and install manager.

The problem might be in the fact that I have Daz client on C: and content/runtime on portable hard drive due to lack of space.

Is there a work around this or do I have to have everything on partition in order to get it to work?

Or maybe it's because it's japanese script that require something else entirely?

Moving point lights around is a trip to Hell. They're never where they appear to be, in fact miles away from where they appear to be. Then you start translating the s__t out of them out of frustration and it's like trying to dig your way out of a whole. I couldn't find a thread on this dilemma. Guess I'm the only one with an issue.

I am curious what LOCAL USER is in some, but not all of my Product Library categories. Do I need to see this? If not, how do I remove it?

I have created a new character, gen 8 based, and I want to share her with a couple co-conspirators. I have followed instructions on how to make a new dummy directory to place all the files in, and zip it up. However when my friend unzips, then opens the daz character file, all the material paths are wrong, daz is looking for my path, as in user/pam/...

Is there a way I can save my character so she has relative paths and not hard paths? I must have one switch flipped wrongly! :) Your help is greatly appreciated

Help! No matter what I do, I get the same (or similar) results with the sleeves pulling down off of the forearms. Whether I try to do it myself or use the pre-made dforce settings.

Not sure what I am doing wrong! Here is my workflow:

- plane for ground

- load g8

- set timeline to 40

- go to frame 15 & pose

- go back to frame 1 load dress

- with dress selected, add dforce dynamic surface

- select use timeline

- hit simulate

This is what I get more or less each time:
