Every now and then I DL a resource that has s csll to a file, usually textures, that is not included in it's target directory. If the offending file is Poser compatible (pz2, cr2 etc) I can open it in a text editor and make the necessary correction. However if the file is a DUF then the text editor displays a screen full of jibberish. It may simplybe that the DUF file is compressed. So, is there a program available that can open and edit a DUF file? Or one that caan decompress DUF files? I tried using the Batch Editor but that was a dead end.

I hesitate to post this question, because at the moment I am supremely and unhealthily angry at Daz Studio. It's a broken tool, in my opinion, and it's wasted a TON of my time on this project alone.

Anyway, here's the issue. I saved a pose of a character that I had worked pretty hard on. To my chagrin, and completely inexplicably (to me, anyway), the pose was saved on a timeline at frame 30. What? I wasn't even animating anything. I had done a DForce simulation with memorized pose turned Off and the option for the Current Frame selected. I hadn't even played with the timeline at all. I don't go anywhere near that thing 99% of the time, because that way madness lies.

So, I selected the character (which I've saved in a group that includes her hair and etc, which is how I always work with her) and saved the group as a scene subset, after I had successfully saved the pose and the varioius shapes that I wanted to keep.

I reloaded the original file, deleted the character out of it, and loaded the scene subset of the character I had just saved in exactly the position and with the accoutrement I wanted. OMFG! Half the props in the scene, which had nothing at all to do with the character, were in places that I had never even contemplated putting them, the model was in the pose from the original file (even though I had saved her as a subset, and ONLY her - meaning the hair, clothes, etc and NOTHING else), and it's a big mess.

I've been fighting with this issue since last night and it's a render for a promotion that I want to get out. This is costing me money.

How do I save out the pose and shapes to be in the place I saved them without rebuilding the entire ^$$#%$^ scene?

Thanks

Sometimes, I want to make a long-focal shot of an interior, which means I (usually) have to hide a wall to do so. However, when there are reflective surfaces within the interior, that means that those reflective surfaces might reveal this "missing wall".

Usually, I solve this by moving the wall backwards, so it no longer blocks the camera, and then scaling it up and positioning it in such a way, that it more or less appears as it should in the reflection. However, I do this manually, and the positioning isn't exact. The lighting on that moved and scaled wall usually isn't entirely correct either. So, I was wondering what other tricks people use when they're in this situation.

Are there perhaps tools or tricks to make walls transparent only on the outside, but not on the inside? Or are there maybe tools able to calculate (to some degree) how far the wall needs to move and scale, based on (for example) the walls position relative to the focal point and the camera? (that still wouldn't give an exact result, but probably be more than good enough as a blanket solution)

The problem occurs when I try to render a specific genesis 8F character. The skin loads fine but as the render
the character is completely transparent. Very odd.

I've managed to work out that there are two distinct morphs, presumably from different products:

PHMPupilsDialate ranging from -1 (contracted) to +1 (expanded)

Pupils Dialate ranging from -10% (expanded) to +100% (contracted)

Both these morphs have the same label - "Pupils Dialate" - resulting in the above confusion. By clicking around I can change the value of one of the labels giving me a separate dial for each morph, but next time I start Daz the labels are changed back again. Is there some way I can find the file(s) these morphs come from and edit one of them to change its label?

I have spent most of the weekend reading through the forums to try to diagnose this problem: I have what I think are simple renders that are consistently having Memory Allocation Failures (MAF) along with other strange issues---like at the point of the failure, my monitor just shuts down and when I have to restart my computer but when I restart DS, DS says my GPU is missing until I restart a second time.

My GPU is a 1050 ti with 4 gb of RAM, and I only have 4 gb of ram on my mother board with an i3-7300 (2 core) processor. The GPU is on a riser to a single PCI slot. Trying to trouble-shoot this, I've tried:

Switching from GPU only to both GPU and CPU. This kept my computer from just shutting down at the point of the MAF. Optix Prime Acceleration is off, and all render settings are at the DS default.

Changing the power settings in Windows so the PCI slot is always powered and never hibernates (got that advice from another forum)

I found a script in the forums that simplifies textures and I applied that to all background objects

So I'm guessing that either my GPU is the problem, my scenes are more complex than I think, or there's some configuration in DS that I should be using but don't know about. Any advice on how to zero-in on the problems and possible fixes?

I'm new to using IRAY and I'm mostly overwhelmed by how technical it is---it's a huge time suck to try something, then wait for the render to fail, and figure out what to try next. Thanks in advance for any feedback

I'm fairly new at playing with DAZ. The render time drives me batty. Figured out how to get my figurt out in seconds. After getting the figure set up and adding hair,Didn't figure out to add clothes yet. I went to parameters and used Z translate to lay the figure horizontal. then I Used shift + f11 To go to full screen. Made the figure as large as posible. Now to regress, I found this little free screen grabber ( Gadwin Print Screen ). I use it to capture the figure and it saves to pictures to print screen folder. I use Photoshop to isolate the picture. Shift + f11 gets me out of full screen. I wish I could make the picture larger to show the quality. Giv it a try.

Hello, the first strange thing is: every time I open the DIM I find the LAMH2 Catalyzer in the download ready section.

I download it. Every time. It is installed in the plug-ins. I have the green plug. Then it disappiers from the download ready tab, of course.

If I come back a few days later it is back again. What's wrong?

The second thing is: even if I have 32GB RAM and 11GB VRAM - that is not enough for 1 fox!

Empty scene/ G8F on horse with saddle / dress and hair / 1 fox. To pose the girl and horse is heavy and choppy and I get crushes.

I don't know how AM is working with a whole menagery in his tuts. I cannot use two squirrels together. Maybe he has a killer machine with 1zillion GB.

Aaaand if I have luckily build together a simple scene, I have to render it immediately because I can never open the scene again.

I have tryed to make a portrait with a girl and a squirrel on her arm. It ends with just the girl and I had to use the tiny, grainy test render of the squirrel to put it together in Photoshop.

Aaaargh. Is someone here who has better experiences? I love all the hairy things here, but it is frustating to use it, better said to try using it.

I'm trying to create a superhero style bodysuit and I'm doing this by exporting a G8F model with a 0.12 push modifier to hexagon and then importing it back as an OBJ. I then do the transfer utility onto the G8F. It looks OK on the base shape, but there's so much poke through with certain models and poses I had to add an additional push modifier to the bodysuit - set to 0.20 in at least one pose, to assure the skin wouldn't poke through. Why is this? I thought the recommended process was to being with the base G8F, but I'm disappointed by the results.

I decided to uninstall my HDRIS to a different drive because my D drive was getting too full. After doing it, one is missing... Its from the Iradiance Pro Outdoor Pro set (I believe) and it is called MauiA. I have the other Mauis, but it seems the installer misses it or something. I know it exists, because I have a shortcut to it, as I use it often. I also can locate the texture HDRI, since I made a copy of it.. But somehow the preset is not to be found.

Can someone check their RealWorldHDR set and see if you have it? It looks like this?

I would assume that both DAZ3DIM and DAZ Studio were designed to communicate with each other but nope.

I uninstalled everything and reinstalled everything using Daz3DIM. I made sure to identify where I wanted all my files to install in DAZ3DIM. I also "reset database" in my DAZ Studios prior to uninstalling everything to make sure none of the previous settings were there.

So I'm a bit shocked to find the old settings in DAZ Studio even after all that. (I'm assuming that "reset" means what it means otherwise, how do I erase to reset the database to factory settings?)

I'm trying to connect to the correct CMS Cluster Directory and DAZ Connect Data but there doesn't seem to be any clear explanation of how to do this. I've googled this multiple times in different ways and I keep getting the runaround and responses from various years. We need a manual that is clear cut.

DAZ I love your stuff but we are dealing here with a problem that shouldn't exist anymore.

In the early days of Final Cut Pro and Premiere there was a feature that was created to help you find files that you misplaced. And once you found one, it would reconnect the rest. This feature is now common and every company out there has something similar to it. So I'm begging you, please copy and past that feature into DAZ 3D. We don't need to have this problem anymore. Almost every creator and vendor keeps screwing up the name of folders and I keep getting alternate versions of "Document" or "Documentation", "Readme" or "Readme's" or "Readmes". This is getting ridiculous. So I try to organize my files by deleting these redundant folders and moving the files into one which then sometimes causes the DAZ3D not to know where the files are which brings me back to begging you to please copy and paste "find and locate" feature from Adobe or whomever.

I'm looking forward to DAZ Studio 12.

Issues:

1. What folders do I need to connect to in Content Directory Manager?

2. How do I erase old settings?

3. Why doesn't Install Manager override DAZ Studio settings?

3. Are there plans on creating an app allowing me to locate missing files and fixing the database?

Thank you.

So I was in the process of doing a nicely framed render of a character I am proud of. It was all going well until I noticed this weird thing going on. Only visible in the render, is this strange black squiggly thing. Like a worm or some ink or something. I'm using the Apryl character materials, with the starry eyeliner being from the Absinthe character. I have never seen this before myself, though I do remember seeing other examples of this from other people, unfortunately I can't find those topics. Any way to fix something like this?
