My question is can I uninstall the Genesis 3 pose products with the DAZ Studio Installer after I have converted them to Genesis 8?

I don't want to have multiple copies of poses around for the sake of simplicity. I just want the G8 poses only.

Hi, my cameras have vanished in my scene. I want to be able to line up a plane to the camera and the easiest way, only way I know, is to look from above and line up the vertical plane with the camera view triangle. But the cameras have gone. I can load a new one and see it but the existing ones won't show up. I can't evern copy the active view of a camera and then see that new camera. I've tried restarting Daz but it makes no difference.

Any ideas?

I have a file that has a bunch of characters with customizations in it that I made. Somehow it appears that something in this file got corrupted, as anything I save out as scene subsets or wearables gets all the morphs and poses created for that asset dialed up to 100%. For example, I save the character as a scene subset, in a tpose, with 1 custom FBM dialed on. However when I merge it into a new scene, the character is in a random pose that it was posed in a month ago and every morph I've ever adjusted on the character is toggled on to that previously set value. Same thing happens when saving out clothing etc as wearables, every morph I've ever dialed on the character is turned on even though I've turned them all off before exporting. Anyone have any insight on how to I cleanse this file and save out the assets?

Just trying to be able to render larger scenes while staying on the gpu. Will using the lower res specular/sss/normal maps included with some models help to keep vram usage down? Will just switching those maps to "none" in the surfaces tab switch them off, thus saving some vram? Turning some background/secondary characters to base resolution will help too, I assume? Will staying under 3 or 4 lights help?

Sorry some of these seem pretty basic amd over-asked. Getting pin point answers has been difficult...

I would like to transform that so the collection of objects becomes a figure, with all of the sub-objects becoming bones of the object that was at the top of the hierarchy. A simple example would be a box with a control knob. It's not much more than a box (cuboid) with an embedded cylinder. I want the cylinder, wich can be set to spin like a dial, to be a bone of the box. Can anyone tell me how to do this?

Hello, I have created some characters with Victoria 8 base. I made changes using Genesis 8 Female body morphs, and alikes, then I finished by using Skin Builder 8.

I used half a dozen of these characters in different scenes (I open the scenes, then merge the characters in), and after about a hundred renders, one of the characters lost the texture from its face (see image below). It happens in every file : in the scenes, and also in the original file where it was created. What is strange is that it only happened on this one, and not the others (all of them were made using the same method).

I think it happened after using ctrl-z to undo a posing action.

I have no clue on how to restore it, and even to prevent this from happening again.

Has any of you encountered the same problem and/or have an idea to help me resolve it?

There is even a jpg map showing where each pose will take you. What I can't figure out is to how to use the poses. My experience with Daz and poses has always been with human figures. Choose the human and then click the pose. No problem. But how do you use a pose to (presumeably) change your view to a differnet location within the scene?

When I add a cutout opacity map to a G8F figure and use 'full' white (255,255,255) in the image map, I expect this to be rendered as completely opaque, white treated effectively a value of 1, and black a value of zero. I also expect this to be equivalent of having the cutout opacity map set to None (no image) and the slider set to 1, meaning fullly opaque. A black image certainly is the equivalent of None and the slider set to zero.

It does not seem to work like this. The completely white parts of the image - or indeed an image that is entirely white - are both rendered as having some level of transparency, i.e. not 100% opaque. In the attached, the upper part of the shoulder (torso surface) has no cutout opacity map; the lower part of the shoulder (arms surface) has a cutout opacity map which is an entirely white JPEG file. I would expect the two surfaces to render without any obvious border between them.

I have tried RGB mode and grayscale JPEGs; I have also tried PNGs. I have tried characters that use the PBR Metallicity/Roughness model and ones that use the PBR Specular/Glossiness model. All give the same result.

I can't figure this out. Is this a 'feature', a bug (in which case I will report it), a mistake or a misunderstanding on my part? It's a bit of an obstacle to making a 'window' in the skin to show another surface underneath!

Hello,

I had a computer at home with a GTX1070, Intel Core i7 8th Gen 8700 and 8GB of Ram. As I was just starting on Daz, this set up was more than enough to start playing with models, follow tutorials, learning about lights and getting into Daz pretty much. However, as I started feeling confident with the software, I started building heavier scenes with more models + furniture and my computer immediately started to struggle (freeze of death, sluggish camera movement, long loading time for Iray...)

I updated my computer with 32gb of ram yesterday. Now my computer works a breeze and I'm immediately able to work on the heavier scenes I created. However, I am not seeing any improvement in rendering time at all? Moreover, when I look at the task manager while the rendering is happening, my computer is only using 6gb of ram with 25 gig unused.

Is this normal?

So after searhing a possible cause of black sclera and stripes on a forehead of my character I realised that it was because my character was far from 0,0,0, center.

The scene is big and there are 5 characters at the same time with a lot of props.

Is there a workaround for this issue or we have to parent all stuff to a character, center it, make a shot, then reparent to another, zero position, render that character, rinse and repeat?

Is there a documented maximum distance from the center I can place my character?

Using latest drivers from nvidia, previous ones had the same issue.

The annoying bit is that any other file loaded will also use the CPU. and only restarting Daz will fix the problem of iRay ignoring my GTX 1080

Ive made sure that CPU is unchecked, and optix on and off. Still getting this issue.

Any tips? I really like the hair from OOT and dont want to get other hair and suffer the same fate.

So I previously posted a similar question a couple months ago, but it did not get anywhere :[ I'm trying again because this really annoys me and I deseperatly want to fix this. I'm an hobbyist and therefore my skills are limited :L I need to step up my game.

My problem is that the maps get stretched when you morph the figure. If lets say I take a G3M figure and make him super fat, we will see the skin pores all stretched on the belly and in the highly morphed areas.

Because the resolution of the maps are limited, I can't just shrink down the map and add more in my clipstudiopaint program where I know the polygons are being streched to compensate for the said stretching.

I don't know how to procede with that and if you have another method tell me, but I think the best way to go would be to create a custom UV map from the original one (lets say split the torso map so the belly has it own UV). Then I could idk ... somehow change only that part of the torso? Never done something like this...

I have Zbrush, Daz3d and Clip studio Paint as programs to work with.

Thanks for your help, its a very heavy question I suppose so, but I need to fix this.
