Also, that hair, do you know of any model in DAZ that has that look already? I can't model anything so my only option would be buying something already made or, perhaps, some kind of script or other processes any of you guys know...Thanks so much!!!

I spent $36 this am on two products. One being, 'Evil Clown HD for Genesis 8 Male', the second, Bad Clown Jumpsuit for Genesis 8 Male(s). I waited almost 15 minutes for it to appear in my Install pane. Finally, out of frustration, I pursued the 'manual' install route. I individually copied the contents of each zip. then opened my 'My DAZ 3D Library', and pasted the contents individually. Went to my 'Content Pane" and neither was there. I re-started Daz, and still no luck. I finally returned to my 'Install Pane' And both were there. Feeling relieved, I followed the simple install process. (which has always worked previously). Returned to my content pane, go to Genesis 8, and still, there was nothing. Of course, I re-started DAZ, and nothing had changed. Using DIM isn't an option for me, because it still refuses to recognize my account after 15 years.

I've spent the past two hours trying to manually place the files from the zip. to it's prescribed location with some luck. I can now get the clown to appear on the G8M figure, but there are absolutely no mat files. I've noticed a trend, (and not just with DAZ) that more and more product files just will not allow the tried and trusted 'copy and paste' method of installation that's been a mainstay for a decade or more. It's getting so frustrating, I've considered not using the Daz Studio Platform. I doubt it's the Platforms fault, but it's become a crapshoot when purchasing and trying to install a product. Roll the dice...... will you win or lose? I'm not a gambling man and am growing weary of throwing money away on products that don't work.

This also means that I can't find a way to select the lips to assign a color to them, they aren't associated with any of the shells.

The attached image is pre-render using outdoor lighting at 200%, not good I think you'll agree. Even the water does not show with any clarity. It would be helpful if someone could tell me where I've gone wrong with this and perhaps suggest how I might correct it.

Hi,

I get distortion in the hip area of dresses when using pelvis bend and thigh front morphs (the latter from shape shift package).

Reason to use those morphs:

I feel the base posture of G8F looks a bit like she has an issue with her spine (spine bow look too exaggerated) and the thighs' depth is to much.

I used pelvis bend, thigh bend and thigh front to compensate for that.

FIrst screenshot = pelvis bend and thigh bend:

A = original G8F

B = with pelvis bend and thigh bend

Second screenshot = thigh front on top of the previous ones.

I also tried with Growing Up product but got the same result (it includes a posture morph).

Is the a way to resolve this issue?

I am not yet familiar with rigging, weight painting or custom morphing in Daz Studio. I am afraid, those are the only ways to fix it, but hope somebody has a more easy solution.z

Hello all! Here again with more questions!

Im animating a scene using the opengl option, so I'm literally rendering images direrctly from the viewport.

I don't know why, but some objects, like the floor, which is a textured primitve plane, and the low poly house in the background, turn black or gray depending on the angle of the camera, and this affects the animation when the camera moves, some things suddenly turn black or gray and turn back to their textured color in a second.

Is this a problem with the light? There are no lights in the scene. How can I make everything look with the same texture from all camera angles?

In the first attached image the camera is at an angle where the walkway primitive plane and the grass primitive plane look with their own textures, in the second attached image I lowered the camera a little bit and suddenly all the floor turns black...

I obviously want Daz to load assets from the fastest drive, but how do I know which one it will load from?

I assume that it will load from the directory where the duf file that is used first, and then if it can't find the materials needed it will search other directories in the order they are listed in Content Directory Manager under Daz Studio Formats. Alternatively I suppose it could ignore the location of the duf file and just start at the top of the listed directories.

Does anyone know the order or is it random?

For some reason a majority of my environments seem to come out as white when they are rendered. The first pic is an example of this while the third is what it looks like pre-rendered. The second image in the middle is a background that seemed to not have this problem however all my environments seem to lack is taking in or rather having any light cast upon them. As in when light hits the environments it doesn't really seem to be affected by it. Characters and everything else seem to be 100 percent fine, but not knowing what most of these terms even mean I've gotten stuck. So if anyone knows what the solution is I'd be most grateful.

Hello,

I finally managed to edit the metadata of Generation 4 items with the help of some nice tutorial.

Now i assigned "compatibility" to my Gen. 4 Items to the certain core-Figures, as Victoria 4, Michael 4, Kids 4, and everything seemed to work fine, so now i'm able to select a Kids 4 figure, switch on "filter by context", and i can see all my kids 4 related stuff.

But somehow I've messed this up, and now, when i select a Kids 4 Figure with "filter by context" switched on, i see EVERYTHING BUT the kids 4 content.

Means, i see everything that is available with the current filter and categories settings, but without any of the Kids 4 content.

It only happened with the Kids 4. Selecting M4, V4 od A4 works as expected.

I don't have any clue what I've messed up?

Any suggestions anyone?

hi guys,i'm using decimator to reduce the insane amount of polygons from hairs, but i'm aways ending getting stuck in a annoying problem which is the "scalp", have any way to only decimate the hair without affect the scalp???, because i use decimator it also affect the scalp and making it flick inside the model head, i would love to be able to decimate only the "hair itself leaving the scalp as itself.

Anyway to do that???

FBX Export not calculating all vertex weights?

I'm trying to export a Gen8 figure from Studio 4.10 to animate in Blender. The problem I'm encountering is that if I export the figure with any level of subdivision, and I'd like level 1 at least, the vertices added by subdivision are exported without bone weights. Checking off the "SubD Information" checkbox has no effect that I can see on import. What I'm doing as a workaround, in Blender, is smoothing the weights of each group 5 times, then normalizing the whole figure. It works, but it's a time consuming process. I'm wondering if there is a setting I'm overlooking, or if this is a known limitation/oversight/bug etc. If there is no quick fix, I'm probably going to have to write a Python script to interpolate all the weights, but I've love to be spared that effort.
