      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;ve recently begun having the problem&nbsp;that certain assets simply will not install with the DIM.&nbsp; They consistently fail.<br />
<br />
What I later discovered was that when I opened up Daz these&nbsp;uninstalled items would show up greyed out in the Content Library and if I clicked the thumbnail I could install them there; however they still show up in the DIM as &quot;ready to download&quot;.<br />
<br />
Is there anyway to clear this out and show them as installed in DIM in case I have to change folders or uninstall and reinstall them from the application at some future date?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Not sure whats happening, but for reasons my puny human brain cant comprehend my character has these black(like pure black) spots/lines&nbsp;on their brow and forehead making them like a porcelain doll.&nbsp;</p>

<p>I even tried to change the the skin. Switching from the basic Vic8 to a Skin builder 8 texture. No dice.&nbsp;</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hello All,</p>

<p>Just a quick question here, although I think I may have already worked out the answer.</p>

<p>I normally render without the CPU enabled, using just my single 4GB GTX 980. The card performs quite well (given it&#39;s age) and will render in a couple of hours a decent image. My CPU was an i7-3770 at 3.2GHz with 16GB of RAM. Using GPU-only meant I could do other things while the render baked.</p>

<p>I play some HD games, and after 6 years with the same system I&#39;ve upgraded my rig to a water-cooled i7-8760 and use the ASUS overclocking utility which switches it between 3.6GHz and 4.4GHz. The water cooling keeps the CPU temp below 50 degrees even when it&#39;s running at that speed. I&#39;ve also added another 16GB of RAM to take the system up to 32GB.</p>

<p>Now DAZ just refuses to render if I don&#39;t switch on the CPU. The render starts, and after about 6 seconds appears to complete but with a black screen. If I switch the CPU on (and change nothing else) it renders fine.The CPU is running at 4.4GHZ and reading 30 degrees.</p>

<p>I ran the Windows 10 performance monitor and when DAZ is rendering it&#39;s showing 11.5GB of system RAM in use, and the GPU is running at 1% with 0.5GB memory used, which is pretty much the minimum needed to push the monitor I suspect. So basically the GPU isn&#39;t doing anything!</p>

<p>I can&#39;t figure why DAZ is refusing to render without the CPU enabled? If I load up old duf files and render them, the same happens, so it&#39;s nothing I&#39;ve changed in any recent scenes. As it happens, the machine is rendering faster with the 8760 and increased RAM with the CPU switched on than it was with GPU-only on my old rig, and I am able to run Word (or work in this browser) while it&#39;s rendering without any lag!!</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hi friends,</p>

<p>BOSS Portrait Light sets create some really beautiful renders, but I&#39;m facing some difficulty using it, as its positioned quite closely to the center of object. &nbsp;The light sample I have given is not meant for closeup shots, well at least the thumbnail seems to give me that idea.</p>

<p>I know that I can move it a out of the frame, but not all the objects are linked to camera and the other issue is the light gets weaken and I need to readjust all the effected objects.</p>

<p>Just as an estimate of my skill level, so that you&#39;re comfortable giving me some tough solution (as long as the results are good),&nbsp;</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Light Set and HDRI dome SCENES!? Why? How to change them to ...</p>

<p>Anything else but a scene!&nbsp; I do not work by starting with lights and domes, which is the only way I have found to keep the darn things from erasing my work .... they always say &quot;want to save your work before...) Sorry, No. I refuse to do it that way. I loose all sense of creative flow. I need the domes and the light sets to load as a dome or a light, not a scene.</p>

<p>I realize many of you will think I am just being stubborn, but I really do loose my creative flow. I can&#39;t explain why; but I work from character to props to scenes to lights. Any other way just scrambles my brain I guess.</p>

<p>I must be missing something, because a lot of domes and light sets are sold this way, including those created by DAZ.&nbsp;</p>

<p>What do I need to do to get these items to work my way?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I just downloaded the LoLo Hai character and installed all of the included folders in &quot;MY Library&quot; . I assume the included OBJ file included needs to go in the geometries directory but I am not sure where to place it correctly. When I click on LoLo Hai in DS I just get a grey blocky representation of the figure, and a message tha &quot; data/ghastly/lolo hai.dsf&quot; could not be found. The advice given when a simular question was posed was to merge the libraries, however no further explanation was given about where to place the OBJ file.&nbsp; Anybody know how to properly install Lolo Hai?</p>

<p>While not a major issue in most cases, there&#39;s a distinct edge to the transition from pavement to desert I&#39;d like to fix. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Looking in the textures folder, I see that there&#39;s a Road_Motel_ground_Alpha.jpg, but it&#39;s not used anywhere I can find. Even so, applying it doesn&#39;t help as it has a hard edge too. There&#39;s also a Height map, but it&#39;s just 8-bit solid gray, also not used.</p>

<p>I might just repaint the alpha to festher those spots but wondering others dealt with this?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;m making progress with Studio but there are a couple of moves I make in Poser and was wondering if an how I can do them in Studio.</p>

<p>1) I think this should be possible/easy but what do I know?&nbsp; Is there anyway to show parameters which are hidden by default.&nbsp; Basically I use the separate X,Y,Z scaling in certain body parts to customise characters.&nbsp; Can&#39;t work out how to bring the option up in studio though.&nbsp; To be fair I&#39;m probably just being thick.</p>

<p>2) A bit more technical but it&#39;s really useful for lighting a scene.&nbsp; In Poser you can turn off an object&#39;s ability to cast shadows.&nbsp; Why is this useful?&nbsp; It allows the light to pass through a wall unimpeded allowing you to use HDRI lighting in an interior setting.&nbsp; Or to&nbsp;place a powerful light outside a room/building so you can boost the light in a scene without washing out effect.&nbsp; But most importantly in both cases the wall (or other object) remains visible in the scene.&nbsp; I don&#39;t automatically&nbsp;expect&nbsp;this functionality to be available in DS but if it is, where can I find it?&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Okay, here&#39;s the thing. I recently snatched up a free prop that has a long series of bones, like a chain. It&#39;s a good prop, except for a lack of pose controls. Meaning that one would have to pose each link one by one. So I decided to try and create pose sliders for this prop that would allow me to pose the entirety of the prop just by manipulating a slider.</p>

<p>Now at this point, everything&#39;s worked perfectly and I&#39;ve created functional pose sliders. But now I have to wonder; is it possible to copy these pose sliders to the remaining links in this prop? So - for example - I could apply a light curl to the bulk of the prop, but more tightly curl a specific section without having to fuss around with a bunch of individual links?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Lately I&#39;ve been using the Geometry Editor to eliminate poke-through on a couple of problem (i.e. big-breasted) characters, creating a new material zone from the selected polygons so I can turn the opacity down to zero.</p>

<p>This works fine, but I have to create two versions of each character, one with and one without the extra material zone. It would be much more convenient to have a saved no-poke-through skin to apply to&nbsp;the character as and when needed, but when I save the edited skin as a materals&nbsp;preset and load it on a character, the new zone doesn&#39;t exist. Is there no&nbsp;way to save an edited skin as a materals preset?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I need to stretch something. I often need to do this.</p>

<p>I can get into the Geometry Editor, I can select polygons or vertices. I can use the selection tool to select the part I want to stretch. It draws a red box and shows a small red donut on the selected parts.</p>

<p>Now all I want to do is stretch it a bit in one direction and save the change. How do I do that?&nbsp;I can&#39;t seem to manipulate the surfaces or vertices once they are selected.</p>

<p>I&#39;m using a stylus, not a mouse.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;ve been using <a rel="nofollow" href="https://www.daz3d.com/visual-style-shaders">Visual Style Shaders</a> pretty successfully for awhile, but now I&#39;ve encountered some rcent problems.&nbsp; I noticed that artifacts were appearing on surfaces while creating lighting profiles for a character, but couldn&#39;t figure out the cause until today.</p>

<p>The product guide recommends setting Maximum Occlusion Distance to 0, to get rid of all ambient occlusion.&nbsp; When I do this, the image gets flooded with white (or what I assume whatever the set colors for Occlusion Light and Occlussion Dark currently are).&nbsp; I think I used to set Occlusion Strength to 0, as a sort of hackneyed way to deal with the problem.&nbsp; POSSIBLY because of the recent Daz update, doing that is no longer viable - setting Occlusion Strength to 0 does exactly what is advertised.</p>

<p>When I set Max Occlusion Distance to 1, most of the AO goes away, but there are little tiny white specks that still appear on the surface.&nbsp; I replaced the Visual Style Shader Base with a Default Daz Shader, just to verify it wasn&#39;t a problem inherent to the diffuse texture - it wasn&#39;t.</p>

<p>Now, I could get around this problem in flat-color renders simply by using one of the default shaders, the problem being this will also show up in my lighting profile renders.&nbsp; As of right now, the cel-shaded style I&#39;ve been crafting over the past few months <em>ABSOLUTELY DEPENDS</em> on me being able to manipulate the Diffuse Light, Diffuse Dark, Outline Light and Outline Dark properties.&nbsp; Those specks appear in the lighting profile, which then get baked into the sprite normal maps I generate, which creates a lot of noise on what was otherwise a pretty good method I&#39;ve been working on for making sprites out of 3D renders.</p>

<p><strong>To the point:</strong> is there a way to turn off Ambient Occlusion in Visual Style Shaders, altogether?&nbsp; i.e. going into some complicated Shader Room and figuratively cutting some branches.&nbsp; I&#39;ve tried playing with Cone Angle, Occlusion Samples, Occlusion Bias, and etc to try and find a workaround, but no luck.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I got a new laptop and installed Daz Studio on it. I&#39;ll attach the dxdiag.txt. I&#39;ll also attach a screenshot. If I set my character to Texture Shaded, she completely disappears. I can mouse over her and see that she&#39;s there or I can see her in wireframe or the other modes. Also, notice my icons to the right for the movement/pan, etc. They display as little white boxes and not the icons they are supposed to be.</p>

<p>Yesterday, I reinstalled Daz Studio and it worked in the evening. This morning I started it up to use it and it was back in this state again.&nbsp; I&#39;ve searched and searched for someone with a similar problem to no avail so I&#39;m suspecting my own naivity.</p>

<p>I don&#39;t know what to do to fix it.</p>
