      <title>DIM disappeared-got it back</title>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I got a notice to update DIM a week or so ago and all went fine. All my destination folders/drives resolved perfectly.&nbsp; I have been purchasing almost dailiy with the sales and this morning, I got no response when I went to Download and Install after paying for the content.&nbsp; So I went looking for it and it was GONE from my drive. The shortcut on my desktop was GONE... but when I went to re-install from the current .exe file, it said it detected a version and uninstalled it. So then I had to start the exe again to install the same version again. Weird.</p>

<p>More weird is that there is no DIM logo in the shortcut... it&#39;s a generic windows icon.&nbsp; DIM works, but something went wrong. Why did it disappear?&nbsp; Why could I not find it in its proper place?&nbsp; Why when I re-executed the installation did it say there WAS a version on my machine when I could not find it in it&#39;s proper home?&nbsp; And where&#39;s the logo branding for the shortcut? (Same in the program file in Start menu, no branded icon).&nbsp; &nbsp;I don&#39;t care as long as it works... just don&#39;t want to have it repeat this.</p>

<p>I am on Windows 7 and got a notice to run a Windows Defender update, but I did not do it as I don&#39;t use Defender.&nbsp; Is this a Windows driven issue?</p>

<p>I encountered different problems among them:</p>

<p>- The render has too much &quot;noise&quot; with this actor, look at the first actor image at 50% photoshop zoom, worst at 100%</p>

<p>- The same wardrobe with other actors is rendered ok, look at the second wither image at 100% photoshop zoom</p>

<p>- The objects usually collision (cloak, outer tunic, beard, staff or book) after SIMULATE option, look at the third and fourth images</p>

<p>I do not have these problems with other actors and accessories, what am I doing wrong?</p>

<p>I just bought&nbsp;the&nbsp;&quot;SWOLE for Genesis 8 Male&quot; by SimonWM.&nbsp;</p>

<p>I have a question regarding the Hercules HD 3D model.</p>

<p>Please look at below the 3D models for Hercules.</p>

<p>In the second 3D model from the left,&nbsp; the Hercules&#39;s muscle is tighten/ripped.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>In DAZ3D,&nbsp; when I first load the Hercules HD 3D model,&nbsp; the muscle of the Hercules&nbsp; shown in the 3D view window is relaxed and not ripped / tightened like the first 3D model from the left seen below.</p>

<p>How do I change the settings in DAZ3D to set the Hercules HD 3D model to have that ripped/tightened muscle look just like the second 3D model from the left below?&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Background: I had a setup where Daz was on C and my content was on a secondary drive. Then My PC was upgraded and now am using a different C drive that was empty. Installed new version of Daz and installed DIM pointing to my secondary drive (E) but now DIM wants to install all my files again. Is there something I missed? I thought all I did before was pointing content to my secondary drive? Any help will be greatly appreciated!<br />
Oh and I have a custom folder structure I don&#39;t want to mess with over there as well..</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p><strong>Dforce in Daz Studio: Wind Nodes and Magnet Tool</strong></p>

Hello,<br />

this&nbsp;Dforce&nbsp;looks really fun but I get a lot of errors using it.<br />
<br />
It seems to work fine with just normal simulation.<br />
<br />
But if I&nbsp;a&nbsp;wind node everything goes wrong. The Clothes start totally to&nbsp;disforming&nbsp;and run out of its physical shape. Like if you blow into some chewing gum and not fabric.<br />
<br />
And how the&nbsp;dforce&nbsp;magnet works... I could int find it out. Just got preparing simulation error. What exactly I am supposed to do? I found out how to get into this vertex selection mode. And moved the magnet. But what next?<br />
<br />
I think to miss a lot of opportunities for action scenes because have you ever seen a dress in an action scene on a character doing some amazing flip with a lot of spins? And the dress just follows the gravity in the frozen scene?<br />
<br />
I really want to find out how those tools work but those old forum themes couldn&#39;t help. I had e great help about lights in&nbsp;Iray&nbsp;which was much more helpful than most Discussions I found about this.</p>

<p>As soon i try to click on download i get at once a message: Cannot download. It worked all the time, but now that i have only one Hard Drive, i get only errors.</p>

<p>On the other Side. I can download the Meshes from DazStudio himself but i cannot figure it out how i can load the Mesh to the Main Windows. It isnt working. If i click on the Panel of an downloaded Mesh i got only a Tab, But no Files that i can aktivate.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I need more VRAM for rendering bigger scenes. Unfortunately Iray only uses the VRAM of just one single GPU but fortunately for rendering SLI isn&#39;t necessary. So currently I&#39;m rendering with two&nbsp;RTX 2080 Ti&#39;s which only got 11 GB VRAM. If I&#39;d include one Titan RTX with 24 GB VRAM to my current&nbsp;system, will it work at all and if yes how much VRAM would Daz Studio 4.11 use then, 24 or still 11??? And is&nbsp;the PCIe slot speed&nbsp;(16x, 8x, 4x) crucial for rendering?</p>

<p>I want to make a curtain prop. I am making it in Blender for later use in Dazstudio.&nbsp;I have two ideas for it:</p>

<p>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;a) A solid morphing prop OR</p>

<p>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;b) A dynamic cloth prop.</p>

<p>With Idea A;&nbsp;Would I have to sculpt the Open and the Closed positions of the Curtain and then do some sort of Dazstudio wizardry to make it&nbsp;&#39;slide&#39;? And how would I perform that wizardry? What about sculpting intermediate positions?</p>

<p>With Idea B; How would I attach the cloth to the curtain rings or back hooks for sliding along a rail? How would I make it Dynamic Cloth? How could I make the cloth &#39;Stiffer&#39;? How would I add details such as hemming and backing?</p>

<p>Any tutorials or ideas would be helpful. Thank you.</p>

<p>This was not the case before upgrading to 4.11. Could i have done something to the database?</p>

<p>I install everything via DIM. Everything is default, except I use drive D: instead of C:</p>

<p>What&#39;s odd is there doesn&#39;t seem to be rhyme or reason to what is showing as needing to be installed, nor does it seem to be full packages.</p>

<p>For Example the Character Andre, he appears in the content library, but not his materials and he shows up as needing to be installed.</p>

<p>Its hundreds of products.</p>

<p>I ran database maintenance, reimported metadata.</p>

<p>Now I&nbsp;can go item by item and reinstall through the install tab, is there a way, to not have to click item by item to download?</p>

<p>I&#39;ll be sitting here for a week if i have to click item by item.&nbsp;</p>

<p>If it was a full rpoduct missing, that would be one thing, but its bits and pieces of products near as I can tell.</p>

<p>Any thoughts on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>The dForce Night Shirt was on sale this week so I picked it up and just got around to trying it.</p>

<p>I don&#39;t have too many dForce clothing items, but the items that I do have fit nicely without running a simulation. Unfortunately, the Night Shirt is not one of those. The minute you pose the figure the shirt completely deforms. So I guess it&#39;s one item that needs dForce to work.</p>

<p>So I ran a simulation that took forever. You can see from the attached picture that at roughly 10 minutes into the simulation, it looks like an explosion.&nbsp;</p>

<p>I finally just cancelled out of the simulation because it took too long.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Is there any way to speed up dForce simulations? This seems unreasonable to me. Imagine multiple items of clothing and it will probably take much longer.&nbsp;</p>

<p>I guess being new to dForce, I&#39;m not sure why it&#39;s such an advantage if the simulations take so long. Render times are long enough without even longer durations added on top for simulations.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>Any help would be much appreciated.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;m trying to light a monitor screen when I make the screen plane emissive and set it&#39;s luminance to what throws off a night bright glow it blows out the image on the screen. I have the texture in the diffuse and the emission color channels. Any suggestions? Right now I&#39;m adding one screen that is very low luminance so it doesn&#39;t blow out and then putting another just slightly in front with the luminance I want and setting it&#39;s cutout opacity to very low .001 but that means I don&#39;t get the specular from the light like I want.</p>

<p>Would appreciate any tips. Thanks</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p><strong>For those thinking this might contain a solution to their problem, it won&#39;t, unless you&#39;re making the same dumb mistake that I did and remembered &quot;update base geometry&quot; as &quot;load UV.&quot;</strong></p>

<p>This is the first I&rsquo;ve tried this with 4.11, but I&#39;ve done it may times before. I&#39;ve modified the UV of an object in Blender and try to load it into DAZ ( [Surface tab menu] Load UV Set...). In most cases, the UV loads without complaint, but the surfaces don&#39;t change when I choose the set. In one case so far I get a dialog saying &quot;Creating New UV Set&quot;, &quot;Could not find matching facet for discontinuous vertex XXXX&quot;, where XXXX scrolls through a bunch of numbers. Regardless, the UV loads and I can change it in the Surfaces tab, but the surfaces stay the same. If I import the object, it&#39;s as I expect. Has anybody else seen this? Has the procedure changed and I didn&#39;t notice?</p>

I would like to export all surface maps like glossy and normal maps.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
When i export it only exports diffuse and opacity channels. I tried fbx ( binary 11,12,14) and wavefront obj, no luck.<br />
<br />
How can i collect them with the material ?&nbsp;<br />
Main goal is exporting them with the prop or figure and converting material in cinema 4D for redshift.&nbsp;<br />
It tooks too much time manually add each texture.</p>

<p>And I&#39;m trying to convert a texture (Dragon Ink) that I transformed from A3 to V4 with Texture Converter 2. There is a .ds and .pz2 file with the textures in the folder, but I get error.</p>

<p>Would anyone know if there&#39;s something I miss?</p>

<p><em>I&#39;ve been trying for a while to get Daz figures into Blender using the built in Daz exporter and also the Diffeomorphic plugin. But i cant quite get the skins to look the same way they do in Daz.</em></p>

<p><em>So i was thinking about getting Poser 11 but i was wondering how well Daz models transfer into it. Do the materials/shaders require a lot of tweaking in Poser to get it to look the same way it does in Daz? Like once i render a poster or anim in Poser will the model&#39;s skin/surface look the same as a render made with Daz? getting the exact surface appearance of a product that i see in a Daz render is more important to me than whether Blender or Poser have superior or efficient renderers or that they can make the model look more &quot;realistic&quot; or whatever.</em></p>

<p><em>And also, how are the animations in Poser 11? i&#39;m assuming a lot better than an animation done in Daz? no weird feet movements or anything like that? its purpose is to make animations and posters without needing any bandaids to make it function properly (ie feet pinning).</em></p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hi there. I&#39;m trying to use two geoshells on the same surface, but they clash and breakup the symbol. It&#39;s like this.</p>

<p>Let&#39;s say I have a t-shirt that I want to put a Star in a Circle on</p>

<p>First I make a geoshell of the tshirt, then geoshell the circle, and I give it a metallic silver Iray shader - All good</p>

<p>And then&nbsp;<strong>inside, or on top of,</strong>&nbsp;that circle, I want a star. I then make a second geoshell of the&nbsp;<em>tshirt</em>, because I can&#39;t apply shaders to a geoshell of a geoshell.</p>

<p>So I apply the 2nd Star geoshell, then give it a metallic gold Iray shader.</p>

<p>Each geoshell works fine independently, when the other is hidden. But, when both geoshells are on, it breaks and the shape doesn&#39;t form.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>Hopefully that elaborates my problem. Does anyone have a solution? Am I making a mistake? I basically want to use two separate Iray shaders on the same item via geoshells, but can&#39;t. Thank you!</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Grabbed a couple free third party morphs recently. Readme file says to copy them to the folder where your base figures are installed. I thought that would be easy. Went to my DAZ libarary, it seems to just have Addams i e purchased and not the base figs. Went to the program file folders, can&rsquo;t seem to find them there either.</p>

<p>can anyone tell me what I am missing?</p>

On the Victoria birthday sale i missed to by the Virtoria 4 bundle. I find the <a rel="nofollow" href="https://www.daz3d.com/downloader/customer/files/prod/4783/">Victoria 4.2 Base</a> and bought it. But the innocent outfit doesn&#39;t appear and dont loadet on the lost and found to the Victoria 4.2 Model. Where can I get the Viktoria V4 Base?</big></p>
