<p>I&#39;m running into an issue when working with the <a rel="nofollow" href="https://www.daz3d.com/the-cave-island">Cave Island</a> product: in the viewport, water looks very nice (left), but when rendering (right) it lacks a lot of details.</p>

<p>I didn&#39;t change much in the render settings. I tried turning up renderding quality to 3, max samples allowed to 10000, max rendering time is set to 7200s (though it gets rendererd before that limit is reached), but it didn&#39;t change anything...</p>

<p>Any idea on what I need to change to get the same quality I have in the viewport?</p>

<p>I don&#39;t have the same kind of issue with other products.</p>

<p>however they <strong>are</strong> located in <strong>C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library\Runtime\Textures\Thorneworks\Ktarya</strong> along with the other mats that load fine.&nbsp; They are not missing.&nbsp; I&#39;ve never created a character for Daz and I don&#39;t know what file is causing this error popup.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Perhaps a <strong>*\My DAZ 3D Library\</strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Vs&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<strong> \My Library\</strong> script gitch for just those textures?&nbsp; Include a variable?&nbsp; It would be nice to view the code to see where it&#39;s looking for just those textures as the others load okay.&nbsp; Attached is a small default render with default human mat loaded.&nbsp; It is changing some of the aspects of the eyes from default G8F but the popup error would lead one to suspect not all aspects of the eyes are being properly loaded.&nbsp; I&#39;ll need to get this sorted in the event I run into this problem in the future I&#39;ll know what to do.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>This Troll at the bridge has stood between me and my project for a lot of&nbsp; hair-pulling hours now.</p>

<p>I installed the latest DS version without complications, until I tried to launch it, and repeatedly get</p>

<p>the error in the subject line.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>From forum conversations of several years ago I learned what UAC is, and that it should be&nbsp;</p>

<p>off or on, I tried every level.&nbsp; That there&#39;s a checkbox to &#39;run as&nbsp; admin&#39; that shouldn&#39;t be checked.</p>

<p>It wasn&#39;t, it wasn&#39;t a shortcut, and my main account is the admin account, since I&#39;m not administering a&nbsp;</p>

<p>network.</p>

<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>But with no other clue I gathered from the language of the error, and the forum buzz, the problem seemed</p>

<p>to stem from trying to run as an admin.&nbsp; Oh, and this was after logging out and in again, and restarting the computer,</p>

<p>and re-installing Daz again.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>So it seemed as if it was a problem that I was trying to run the program as an admin(?), so I created a new</p>

<p>account, gave it admin permission and took the account I&#39;ve been building for 4 years with Daz off&nbsp;</p>

<p>the admin list.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>Since neither account was able to launch DS&nbsp;without triggering&nbsp;</p>

<p>this same eror, as the new Admin I un-installed and re-installed Daz again.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>It was only then that I managed to get past this Troll for the first time, but only as my newbie Admin account.</p>

<p>I still can&#39;t access Daz from the account that has my workspaces, my links to content, my keyboard preferences,</p>

<p>my authorization for plug-ins, etc etc gathered over years.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>Why, once I reinstalled, would I have a permission error as both admin and as a normal user?&nbsp; And how do I fixi it?</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>I&#39;m out of ideas on what to try next.</p>

<p>I&#39;ve written an Alembic exporter. It is sort of a hack in that it encodes a series of exported .obj files. This actually works perfectly, but the file sizes are huge and I would therefore like to support SubD, just as the Alembic Exporter does.</p>

<p>I cannot find any documentation on how Daz represents SubD cages, and how to manipulate them so that I can write a script to export this information. I suspect that it is only available from the C++ SDK.</p>

<p>Can anyone point me to a resource?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>So here is the problems,</p>

<p>I&#39;ve just spend $59 on Animate2 in order to export mdd file. so I can coverrt the animation into cinema 4D with Riptide Pro.</p>

<p>So I export a genesis 8 model to&nbsp;obj(I kept all setting in default) in Daz studio then open it in C4D&nbsp;</p>

<p>Then i exported the mdd file out of the same model.</p>

<p>Then i connected all separate part together in cinema 4d so it became one mesh, then clicked &#39;import .mmd file&#39; to import the mdd file i just exported.</p>

<p>then a poped up window showed and said</p>

<p>&#39;The Point Count of the selected mesh object [92343]</p>

<p>Does not match the Point Count in the .mdd file[66738]</p>

<p>Operation Aborted.&#39;</p>

<p>I Tried to get rid of any unnecessary part and try to export everything as possible and the point count is still not matched...</p>

<p>Can anyone please help? I kind of felt like i just throw 59 bucks into water...</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>So, my main harddrive went bad and had to be replaced. I have a SSD that&#39;s about 60gb in right now as a replacement until I can get a new harddrive.</p>

<p>Once I get the second drive in my computer, is there a way to make DAZ install all the assets I bought and the runtime libraries on there? Or do I have to remove the first drive, and install windows on the larger one for things to work?</p>

<p>It&#39;s going to be a pain either way. But I can deal with installing windows 10 on another harddrive if it means I can keep making art.</p>

<p>long story short, I&#39;m assembling a new workstation for rendering and gaming. Problem is, I&#39;m on a budget (well who isn&#39;t hehe), so my GPU options are also kinda narrow. GTX series are not an option, since in my home country their prices tend to be somewhat irrational/abhorrent (a GTX 1080ti pulled out from a bitcoin mining station costs ~1.5x as NEW rtx 2070). RTX 2080 and 2080ti are way over my budget considering other parts I have to buy.&nbsp;</p>

<p>So question is - is RTX 2070 (to be accurate - the Asus STRIX 3-fan overclocked model) a viable option for small scenes in Iray? I usually render 1-2 figures with not so big scene (2-3 walls and some small props).</p>

<p>Does anyone have an RTX 2070 and could share render times, for let&#39;s say 1440x1080 or 1920x1080 images?</p>

<p>Are there any problems with RTX and daz, are there painlessly working drivers?</p>

<p>How&#39;s the support for RTX itself, does DAZ use the accelerated raytracing?</p>

<p>Anyways, here is the full setup i plan to buy:</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I look at my log file now and then to see what is reported when I render a scene in IRAY.&nbsp; In my current scene I see 1.00638 GB reported for textures and&nbsp;2.37606 GB for lights.&nbsp; I also see &quot;PTX code (208 KiB) for sm6&quot; which I have no idea what this is.</p>

<p>My first question is why so much GPU memory used for lights&quot;&nbsp; &nbsp;I really don&#39;t have that many light in the scene.</p>

I am in the process of finalizing a clothing set and decided to try my hand at adding dforce. things are going pretty okay&nbsp;except for the fact that I can see the figure&#39;s subdivision faces through the garment. before the simulation, my mesh is nice and smooth but&nbsp;as soon as it collides with the figure, it gets rigid and indented by the figure&#39;s surface faces. both the garment and the figure are set to high resolution so I don&#39;t really understand what I&#39;m doing&nbsp;wrong. does anyone know how to fix this? any help would be appreciated. I have attached photos of the issue for a better understanding of what I mean.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I wanted to install all my purchased content onto a new laptop. I installed 4.11 and DIM, but when I select everything and it starts to download, nothing succeeds, literally every item says &quot;failed to download&quot;. It&#39;s been this way for several days. My desktop and another laptop on the same account, continue to work fine; it is just this new, third laptop that doesn&#39;t work.</p>

<p>I&#39;ve been careful to not use them at the same time, and it only complained about exceeding my concurrent limit (which I assume is 1) one time while trying to connect to DIM while I was in Daz. But that was after the problem manifested itself.</p>

<p>Anyone know what gives?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hello, I just used HDRI for my render but they are not showing up in my viewport. I am not able to position or rotate my characters to it. However, the environment and character appeared in my test render. The final render showed everything in my scene but not in my viewport! My settings for the environment are: Env Mode = Dome and scene, Dome Mode = Finite sphere, Draw dome = on. Tone mapping enabled = on. Engine =&nbsp;NVIDIA Iray. Auto Headlamp = never. I am using DS 4.10 Pro. What am I doing wrong? Did I miss something?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p><span>Hello, I am trying to render the Gigamesh character, one of Swole characters, and every time it starts to render with CPU it crashes after a few seconds, but this only happens with Gigamesh character, as I rendered Alexandra 8 before this and didn&#39;t crash.... Why is this happening? I also updated Daz3D to the latest version and reset render settings to default</span></p>

      <description><![CDATA[Hi, I bought teen josie and a charlene bundle yesterday.
After loading josie, i tried to put charlene closet clothes on her via wardrobe. Everything I tried to put on her turned white and i could not apply any material. I tried rendering and it also came out white. What am I doing wrong?

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hey Folks! I have been using the Batch Render DS RIB to render a series of images over night/while I&rsquo;m at work. Over the weekend I thought I&rsquo;d test it out more thoroughly and I found I was able to render a single image&mdash;through the normally mechanics&mdash;in about 30 minutes, while the batch render got to about 30% in three hours. I noticed that a single image render stayed with the GPU, while the BatchRender switched over to the CPU. Is there anything I can do to speed the BatchRender along. Is there a way to change the image, so it stays using&nbsp;GPU? Or am I completely missing something. It&rsquo;s not too big a deal as long as I can get the renders&nbsp;done over night, but if it could be done quicker that wouldn&rsquo;t be a terrible thing!</p>

<p>for reference, I&rsquo;m using a GTX 1050 TI.</p>

<p>When I try to render in NVIDIA Iray, it comes out exceptionally dark and no matter what I do with the lighting, it doesn&#39;t correct.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Are some of the Daz environments only renderable in 3Delight, or am I missing something?</p>

<p>I&#39;m finally repacing my old 16GB Win8.1 desktop computer with a new 96GB Win 10 desktop.&nbsp; I&#39;ve set up the 11TB of hard drives with partitions, drive letters, and drive names identical to the old one.&nbsp; I have restored all files to every drive in exactly the same location as on the old computer.&nbsp; Except for Drive C.&nbsp; All my DS progs, files, assets, etc are now restored on drive P exactly as the old one.&nbsp; What con fig files, folders, etc, do I need to transfer from the old C: backup to the new C: drive for DS and Install Manager, etc, all to retain the same configurations, setups, folder locations, etc.&nbsp; I don&#39;t want to have to re-config IM, particularly, as I dfon&#39;t want to have to re-install my thousands of purchased DS assets all over again.</p>

<p>My questions is, what DAZ-associated folders and files are installed and maintained by DAZ on the C: drive that I will need to copy over to the same locations on the new C: drive so all DAZ programs will continue to function as previously without actually re-installing?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I cannot figure out how to stop a posing object, or how to get&nbsp;the panning view to STOP moving.</p>

<p>I have tried every keystroke under the sun, plus &nbsp;double-click, single click, super-long pauses... It&nbsp;doesn&#39;t matter what I do,&nbsp;it keeps following the pointer (I&#39;m using a stylus). I get the perfect position, angle, or pose and then I can&#39;t get it to &quot;take&quot;.</p>

<p>Whatever is activated keeps following the pointer indefinitely, even if it&#39;s way off the window.</p>

<p>What&#39;s the secret?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>A bunch of these partial poses show up in the Poses &gt; By Function categories, which makes it very difficult to sort through my poses because of how many there are. I like keeping them just in the By Region categories for when I want to do fine tuning. But when I go into Categorize and remove them from the By Function categories, they don&#39;t get removed. Some do, but not all. Is there a way to get around this?</p>

<p>I do use the&nbsp;Genesis 3 to Genesis 8 Pose Converter, but from what I can tell this is happening with the original versions and not the conversions I&#39;ve made.&nbsp;</p>

<p>I got some sphisticated scenes to render (imported houses from Sweethome3d, multiple figures, difficult textures, difficult light) that I want to render via GPU. Reality is continuously crashing, DAZ is refusing to utilize my older nVidia GTX 750ti that I revived. I tried everything like disabling Optix acceleration, CPU+GPU, GPU only, latest drivers, but I was never able to render with GPU acceleration.</p>

<p>AMD has created HIP that is able to convert &gt;95% of CUDA code automatically to OpenCL. Are there any efforts to utilize OpenCL?</p>

<p>Furthermore there&#39;s AMD&#39;s ProRender that is also much faster &amp; more efficient than CUDA for similar renders. There are plugins for 3ds, Maya, Blender, Solidworks, PTC, Unreal, USD, but not a single one for Daz. Does anyone know if there were any alignments between AMD &amp; Daz?</p>

<p>Or did Daz made exlcusive contacts with nVidia who bind them to their hardware exclusively?</p>

<p>Would be great if someone has more info here.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;m sure this has probably been covered somewhere recently, but since updating to 4.11 my iray renders are way slower, and almost every time I end up with white spots, or &#39;fire flies&#39;.</p>

<p>I hope this is just&nbsp;a matter of tweaking some settings, because I don&#39;t want to spend hundreds of dollars on a new graphics card.&nbsp; At the moment I&#39;m running a GeForce GTX 1060 6GB, on a i5 7500 16GB.</p>

<p>Is it possible to install 4.10 as well?&nbsp; It was working beautifully before this.</p>
