I have a moderately elderly PC with Win 7 and an nVidia Quadro 2000 (8Gb). I have discovered the card is contributing nothing to iRay rendering, despite theoretically being able to do so. The driver release is 341.66, and it appears that the latest that covers the card is 377.83. Is this a high enough release to work with DS 4.11 (not sure where to look for the requirement)? If not, I will stick with a system that works and not risking breaking it.

You help is appreciated.

Hello,

I've been having issues with animations breaking when exporting from Daz to Marvelous. It's a simple animation of a figure going from an A pose to a posed state. In Daz it looks good, I've selected all the bones before creating the animation, then I export it as a Collada, but once I play it in Marvelous the arms get all twisted and not at the location they should be.

I also tried exporting as an FBX and that also breaks, but in a different way. Nothing happens except one of the arms moving and growing out of scale.

This exact same problem happened to me on a previous project, where the animation broke in almost the same manner, but on a different figure and pose.

(I posted this on the Marvelous forums, but I haven't gotten much info, so I thought I'd try here, since probably people use Daz with Marvelous.)

Any advice and solutions would be appreciated. Thanks for your time.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstlaling both the one that came with 4.11 and the one with beta but it doesn't fix the issue. Is there a way to start over or get rid of the message so that I can use my program? The message prevents me from using batch render, and I need to do that. I wish it could be disabled.

I should mention that my dim is absolutely the flakiest ever.

I have tried changing the port, but that didn't work. I should mention that studio does not show under edit>preferences>CMS any location where this is installed, even though DIM installs it.

I really love the look for this set, I was wondering if the Signage is jpg or another image file or if its procedurals. Im sure I would have to adapt the Shaders for the Building and Roads that not a problem I have shaders from other sets that will work just fine; but the signage really gives this place a very nice Cyberpunk feel; but not so useful if those are procedurals as well.

BTW, I do wish DAZ would follow Rendo's example and provide links to mail the artists themselves about a product. Every Rendo Artist I've ever contacted has replied in no more than a day; after all they want to make a sale. BB.

I’m doing a final render on my scene for the first time. I’m outputting it in multiple files because I want to put everything together in Photoshop on multiple layers. For example, I rendered just the background, saved it – that will be on one layer. Rendered the model, saved it, that’s another layer. And so on. The first few came out great. It took a while to render (more than an hour) which was as expected. However, without making any changes to the rendering settings, the rendered images are now taking only about 10-15 minutes to render and they appear unfinished. As I said, I changed nothing. I restarted DS and reloaded the scene. Same result. Has anyone got an idea of what might be wrong? Thanks.

I've finally saved up enough money to build a Custom PC. I intend to transfer all my work onto it - my question is - all of the 'characters' I've created - mostly G8 male with misc morphs and people textures - will I be able to transfer them all easily, or will I have to install all the morphs/textures/skins and re-create them - as in copy all the morph dials and start from scratch with each one.

Seems like a stupid question and not entirely sure if I'm articulating what I mean clearly enough - but any advice would be much appreciated.

Could anyone suggest how I can achieve the effect of sun or other strong light shining through semi-transparent material in DS4.9. (see attached image for example)

I think Iray should be able to achieve this. I have tried putting a strong (up to 20 million lumens) spot light or a point light behind the dress with the dress at various transparencies, but I cannot get the glowing effect or the legs silhouetted by the bright light. The source of light needs to be hidden behind the figure else it shows as a sharp edged object (eg a disc), but as soon as it is hidden there is no glow.

I suppose I might cheat by making the dress fabric emmissive, but it might be difficult to get the gradual dispersion of light.

All suggestions will be welcome.

Hi,
So far gozing to zbrush to make new morphs is great.
However when I sculpt/move/etc, the eyes and mouth are affected in an unwanted way. For instance the eyes won't keep their round shape because of excessive operations, even if I try to do my best to preserve them.
The ideal would be to split the mesh and isolate these parts, but the integrity of the mesh and vertex order would be corrupted and the morph won't be accepted.

Any tips?

Thank you in advance for helping.

Hello, i have very recently moved from pen and paper to DAZ as i wished to try something new. i got tips from a friend to find ressources and install them, so far so good. The whole software seems very complex still. I did a couple scenes using only ressources provided with the vanilla install of DAZ, in order to get my feet wet and not charge in blind. All went well, scenes were basic but came out nicely. Then i decide to move to the mountain of stuff i had downloaded to start having fun with it...i am yet to have fun.

I know after looking around that textures not loading can be due to many things and that MANY people have talked about it, but none of the things discussed worked for me...or they straight up didnt make sense to my inexperienced self as a lot of users uses a terminology i am far from being familiar with.

I started slow and simply unpacked a couple models for Gen 8 and tried loading them in as is to see how they rendered. i was prompted by an error saying that textures and ressources could not be found, at first that was all and the model would load all gray. after checking, like many before i realised the textures where exactly where they should be and were all named properly and that the path used by DAZ was correct. i battled with this before giving up for a while. i am now back at it and something has changed making things very confusing. now it asks me if i want to manually locate the textures. I am like "great, its gonna be a while, but better than nothing" so i load the first texture it cant find...and that's it, it doesnt ask me about the 15 following ones in the very same folder, it just loads the model with the one textures i located and the rest still gray. So i am even more confused than before, why give me the option for one texture but no the rest.

I am being salty du to the frustration, but i have rarely seen a software so unfriendly to new users and so obscure to understand. I know its good thanks to all the very cool stuff many have published using it but mother of god is it unwilling to let you have a go. All help is appreciated.

Hello there,

I am new to Daz Studio and I really enjoy it. This is the first problem/challenge I've encountered and as I like the hair so much I eould really appreciate it, if someone can relate to my problem and solve it.

I am finding that all the dark hair colours, possess tiny white speckling which is noticeable unfortunately after I've rendered. I have spent a few hours now and asked a merchant friend who advised me to ask on here.

The picture will show the speckling and I hopoe it is enough to resolve this issue.
Thanking you in anticipation for any help.

There is a long frustrating story about how pissed I am at this program and how much money I've wasted in the store on it, but I will spare you.

However in doing so what I am asking help on wont make sense, and unfortunately its either that or I spend an hour ranting filling you in on the backstory.

Basically, I need Daz to be installed in the default locations. However when I uninstall Daz and re-install it, the installer defaults to the file paths I had initially put in, which are accross multiple hard drives and not the "factory" default filepaths.

Does anyone know how to get the default file path back? Or can just tell me what they are so I can type them in?

Thanks.

Hello,

Step 1 - Importing to Daz Studio

I wanted to share the workaround I found to import kitbash3d props into Daz Studio while keeping the diffuse texture and maintaining each prop separated. I was not able to achieve that using the Daz Studio Importer. If there is a better way, let me know!

This will only make sense for those importing this product, but I believe it is useful information.

First, download the version with FBX + OBJ. Extract the zip file. Open the .mtl file in notepad. Use the search and replace tool to change the directories to the ones you are using. For example, replace K:\KB3D\KB3DTextures\ to C:\Users\Public\Documents\Environments\Brutalist\KB3DTextures\

Now Open Daz Studio. Click on "File->Send to Hexagon", just to make sure that the bridge will work. Hexagon should open now.

After that, select the ".obj" file with your kitbash3d product and drag it to the Hexagon window. The props will load.

Now, on the "scene tree" of hexagon (right column), select everything. After that, click "File -> Send to Daz Studio".

After that, all props should load inside Daz Studio and save the file.

I

Trust me, I wouldn't be posting this if I hadn't been scouring forums for the last hour trying to figure out what's wrong.

So I downloaded two items from Renderosity, one of which is the Punky Girls Hair for Genesis 8 https://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/?ViewProduct=138626

You can see in the screenshot where I copied and pasted all the appropriate files into the DAZ Content Library in the public documents folder where all the rest of the content is. But when I go into DAZ and look in the Content Library, I can't find it or the content from the other item anywhere. I've scoured the folders (checked every Hair folder a dozen times) and tried searching for them repeatedly, but they just don't seem to be there. Is there a step I'm missing? What's going on?

I have made a suitcase out of some smple primitive rectangular forms. Bundled them. The seemingly simple form consists of 8 different parts. But it would be easier to work with if I had a way of merging these parts. It would reduce the mesh faces a lot. As several parts are inside the massive combined object. (Yes, I know, the suitcase is merely a very simple mesh in its existing form, but I plan to use the same construction principle on much more detailes objects). Does DAZ have the option of merging meshes?

If not DAZ, has Hexagon?

If not Hexagon, which software would I need?
