      <description><![CDATA[<p>So I&#39;m getting a new computer and backing everything up in preparation. (Moving from Windows 7 to Windows 10 as well.) I had Studio save my custom workspace, only to discover that Studio shields you from seeing what it does with it, both on export and import.</p>

<p>So where does it put the file (I assume there&#39;s a file?) when it saves your custom workspace? Is it hiding somewhere in the content directory? How will Studio be able to find it?</p>

<p>I&#39;ll be moving my content disk, so the pathways to content will remain the same, if that helps.</p>

<p>I&#39;m also having it export user data, which the export window is telling me goes into the /runtime/support directory, so that should be easy enough.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I am making an FK animation using the Genesis 2 Male Slapstick &#39;porkpie hat&#39; prop. The hat is parented to but not &#39;fit to&#39; the head of the G3M Toon Duckie character and the 3DU Toon Rabbit because using fit to completely distorts the geometry of the hat so as to make it unrecognizable of a hat. However, although parented to the head bone of both models when I move those models such as what should cause the hat to move with the head the hat is not following the movement of the head!</p>

<p>In contrast, a prop cane that is being held in the left hand (each was parented to the left hand bone &amp; not autofit in anyway)&nbsp;of each character does move when the character moves in such a way to cause the left hand to move.</p>

<p>I do notice that the pork pie hat has a G2M rig attached to it while the cane has no rig. I think I need to remove the rig from the pork pie hat and it will follow movement of the character then. How do I do that?</p>

<p>Does anyone know the fix for this?</p>

<p>Nevermind - I had mistakenly parented the hats to the root of the character rather than the head bone like I thought. I converted the rigged figure that they were to props by Edit&nbsp;- Figure - Rigging - Convert Figure to Prop... ...although as it turns out that wasn&#39;t really needed.</p>

<p>I needed to modify a swimsuit in Blender and bring it back to Daz.&nbsp; Can anyone give me any tips or hints or maybe even tutorials on the best/easiest way to do this?</p>

<p>I have a G8F with a body morph shape applied to it, the swimsuit is autofit to that.&nbsp; I thought that i would just export the G8F and swimsuit as OBJ.&nbsp; Use the body in blender as a guide and just adjust the mesh of the swimsuit.&nbsp; Then from there reimport it into Daz and use the transfer tools to reapply the G8 rig and weight maps to the swimsuit? i think i saw a tutorial by sickleyield i think on something similar but it involved a G3 and G8 figure and not clothes.&nbsp; Would something like that work? or do i need to rerig and redo skin weights in Blender from scratch before i reimport it?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I am making a new product for the store and I&#39;d like to find the easist way to do this:</p>

<p>Daz wants all props and things to come in at 0,0,0. Understandable, so users can find things added to their scenes.</p>

<p>My set has many parts, each exported obj made as a prop.duf.&nbsp;Importing the obj&#39;s in the xyz position the scene needs is great for building the scene but when making the duf&#39;s they don&#39;t open in the center of the scene. In my 3d package everything is built in position as I&#39;d like it to be in the final daz scene but of course objects are all over the place, ie, the pillows are on the bed and the bed is at X-310 Y-0 Z-25. When I import the bed obj it comes in at&nbsp; (I think is) it&#39;s local 0,0,0, but the bed is not at 0,0,0, as daz would like to see it. It&#39;s at the proper spot that I need it to be in building the scene. So when I save the bed.duf it won&#39;t import at 0,0,0. If I move it to the world 0,0,0 then the prop would have some numbers like Z-23 Y-0 X-234.&nbsp;</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>So how can I make it easy on me in positioning everything as the scene needs and still satisfy das and have the prop come in at 0,0,0?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>So, I gather from the forums that the new 4.12 beta has a version if iRay that takes advantage of the RTX features of the latest NVidia cards.</p>

<p>Question: Has anybody experimented with what happens if you have both a GTX and an RTX card simultaneously used to render? I&rsquo;m curious if you still get RTX support out of the RTX card, or if that gets disabled if both cards don&rsquo;t have it.</p>

<p>and have fitted it to the Genesis 8 male wearing Atlas tactical armor (<a rel="nofollow" href="https://www.daz3d.com/atlas-armored-suit-for-genesis-8">https://www.daz3d.com/atlas-armored-suit-for-genesis-8</a>).&nbsp;</p>

<p>The cloak is swooped way out to the sides, so I&#39;m attempting to run a cloth simulation to get it to drape (Dynamic clothing dialog box in Daz). My issue is that no matter what cloth option I select (&quot;all cloth on figure&quot;, &quot;all cloth in scene&quot;, &quot;all cloth selected&quot;), an error message pops up and says &quot;No cloth items were active for draping&quot;.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The cloak says it&#39;s dynamic, which I assumes means this is supposed to work. What on earth am I missing? Seriously, I&#39;m exhausted with this. Tell me it&#39;s obvious.&nbsp;</p>

<p>I&#39;m currently working on a VR movie using DAZ characters with the iClone animation pipeline. Great stuff!<br />
I got stuck with the following problem, hoping for someone to point me the way.</p>

<p>I&nbsp;imported and transferred a low-poly custom beard (bought from a 3d marketplace) to the facial rig inside DAZ.<br />
I saved the beard as FigurePropSupportAsset, and can i apply it to any Genesis8 character and instantly use all available morphs.<br />
If i move any shape slider on my character Genesis8 character, the beard nicely matches every facial deformation.</p>

<p>When i export the character including beard from DAZ as fbx and import it to Character Creator using Transformer, the morphs on the beard get lost.</p>

<p>When i import the fbx to Modo, there are morphs on the character as expected, but not a single morph shape on the beard.</p>

<p>I&#39;m using DAZ Studio&nbsp;4.11 Pro with Genesis8.</p>

<p>Everytime I go to use the Active Pose tool + Pin At Both option. If I lock a joint, like a hand, or a shin, with space bar, and try to pose the figure, Daz crashes on me. It does not crash instantly, but eventually, it will... It Says, &quot;Program has stopped responding&quot; and just crashes the entire program. Happens so often that its become impossible to use those combined features.</p>

<p>Can anyone try to repeat. If its happening to you guys, then its a bug that needs to be logged. Its very important I get this fixed, because its the dominate pose tool I use.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Ok, I swore I would never be one of those guys who would start a thread like this, but I am needing an upgrade and I&#39;m not sure exactly which way to go.</p>

<p>First of all, my computer is ancient, yes I would like to start over and get a new one, but it is just not in the budget right now. My budget is practically zero, but I think I can squeak by and save about $300 in the next few months. Maybe $400 on the high side (which is approximately what I spent on my computer originally).</p>

<p>So, first of all, the specs:</p>

&nbsp;&nbsp; 1024MB ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series (Sapphire/PCPartner)</p>

<p>What do I want to do? Render in Daz Studio, obviously, with Iray, so I&#39;m looking for an Nvidia GPU. Also I want to use Blender 2.80, which needs a 2GB GPU minimum. And maybe just maximize my RAM and CPU for general computing and a feeling of well-being :)</p>

<p>So my motherboard is LGA-1156, outdated I know, but with my budget limitations I am not sure I should upgrade right now. I can get a Core i7-870 renewed for less than $100. Is it worth it, or will the increase be negligible? Also can bump up to 16GB RAM for about $40-50.</p>

<p>For a GPU, I am looking at a new GTX 1660, which are running about $220-250. So right there I have pretty much reached my budget limit.</p>

<p>Or as an alternative should I just spend all my budget right now on an RTX 2060? Then down the road I can upgrade mobo, processor, etc?</p>

<p>Or another option I haven&#39;t considered?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hi there.&nbsp; I tried to install Daz3d on a new machine.&nbsp; The latest version.&nbsp; Before I installed it, I went ot the install manager and changed all the folders where I wanted Daz3d content to go (a separate hard drive). I figured I had done all that.&nbsp; But it still recommended that I put everything in C:/Users/Jeff/AppData/Roaming/DAZ 3D/cms.&nbsp; I changed that and hit accept.&nbsp; I installed Daz3d.&nbsp; When I go back to the install manager, I see that it reverted back to the C driver and the users directory.&nbsp; It does not give me the option to change this directory.&nbsp; I don&#39;t want the Daz3d content on the c drive.&nbsp; I tried uninstalling Daz3d.&nbsp; It still doesn&#39;t allow me to change this directly</p>

<p>I clicked on the part where it says &quot;control click on this button and change directory.&nbsp; It&#39;s greyed out.&nbsp;</p>

<p>So, how can I get this to work so that all my files and my content go in a separate directory other than the C drive?&nbsp;</p>

<p><span>In some of my works, and I like how I can use the &quot;body suit&quot; along with the skin material and it causes her to glow from the inside out.&nbsp; However, how do I recreate this effect if I do not want to use this skin.&nbsp; If I want to make any given Genesis 8 female have a creepy glow from within using this bodysuit.&nbsp; I have looked through the surfaces with a glowing alien queen, but the cutout opacity is at 100%.&nbsp; The base skin, also, is not a png that is somewhat transparent either.&nbsp; Which slider is it that I need to tweak in surfaces to get that &quot;slightly transparent&quot; skin so that the body suits from the alien queen can glow through it as it does if I use the skins that come with that model.&nbsp; Thanks in advance!</span></p>

<p>Would love to know which book it is... the books I own in my library are not open, just closed. So they won&#39;t work with this pose.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Drives me seriously mad that Daz decided to make eyelashes a separate node. EVERYTIME I scuplt a morph, I end up doing the work twice because of this.</p>

<p>WHYYYYYYYYYYYYY did you guys think this was a good idea?????????????????</p>

<p>Another hour lost to this completely unnecessary and frankly, ridiculous idiosyncracy. Why not make nails a dedicated mesh too? And teeth? And eyebrows? Or, how about NOTHING is a separate node? A base figure should be 1 node, 1 mesh, and if I need eyelashes, I&#39;ll get a graft for it.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;ve just re-installed my computer, and wanted to download my content and install manager refuses to download anything, either software or content.</p>

<p>When I click on anything it just says download failed immediately.</p>

<p>After some digging I found the log and it seems it has some sort of SSL hanshake issue.</p>

<p>WARNING: SSL Error: 11 - The issuer certificate of a locally looked up certificate could not be found<br />
WARNING: SSL Error: 17 - The root CA certificate is not trusted for this purpose</p>

<p>Is it working for everyone else?</p>

<p>Quick question...</p>

<p>My current setup:</p>

<p>3.2&nbsp;i5&nbsp;quad core CPU, 32GB RAM, spin disk.</p>

<p>1 GeForce GTX 980, 1 GeForce 980 GTX ti.</p>

<p>I am thinking of&nbsp;replacing the GTX 980 with a new GTX 1070 ti or perhaps go for a used GTX 1080 ti, as&nbsp;these are becoming a bit more affordable these days. But this comes with a risk&nbsp;involved, of course (potentially used extensively for, say.. mining etc?)</p>

<p>The core of my question is: Would replacing the 980 with one&nbsp;of these two cards provide a significant performance increase? (Edit: I&#39;m leaning towards a new 1070 ti..)</p>

<p>I usually don&rsquo;t create scenes for making final renders, rather I mainly have&nbsp;a screen for iray preview and use the scene for &laquo;realtime&raquo; reference for 2D work. I still need good image (photoreal) quality, but would like higher speed at a moderate price range.</p>

<p>Any advice would be greatly appreciated. :)</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>During Iray rending my CPU (I7 4790K) is averaging about 63 degrees celcius and my GPU (GTX 1070) is averaging about 64 degrees celcius.&nbsp; I have Windows 10 64bit Pro and a 750W PSU.&nbsp; Happens so far only during rendering.&nbsp; Never had an issue with Octane in the past with similar temps.&nbsp; I have the most updated driver 431.70 64bit.&nbsp; Most updated sound driver and made sure only 1 sound driver (no other extra drivers to cause conflicts).&nbsp; Power and sleep mode turned to never turn off and go into sleep mode. &nbsp; Had problems with previous drivers and this all really started last month when I went from Octane to Iray (Studio 11 pro).&nbsp; I am also getting shutdowns with Studio 12 pro beta.&nbsp; Resolution set to 3840x2160 for monitor. &nbsp; Check disk for errors none found.&nbsp; Device Manager shows no question marks or issues.&nbsp; AVG antivirus shows no virus and firewall is active and up to date.&nbsp; System works fine except for the weekly shutdown.&nbsp; Its just humming along and the system shuts off.&nbsp; I have to press the power button to turn the system back on.&nbsp; The system boots up like normal with no windows shut down abnormally error message.&nbsp; Any ideas?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>OK .. I have been using the Daz &gt; Hexagon bridge to create custom morphs - for characters as well as clothing and fixed props.</p>

<p>Since Studio 4.11, this function seems to be broken. Every morph I try and create results in &nbsp;warping/expanding or contracting the entire character/outfit.</p>

<p>Just retested on my old computer with Studio 4.10, windows 7 machine, and the hex morphs work fine.</p>

<p>Any one else having similar problems??</p>

<p>Any new setting I am missing??</p>

<p>Should I report a bug?</p>

<p>I&#39;ve tried 4.12, same results.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Also uninstalled and re-installed Hex.</p>

<p>If already answered - please give me a link to the page.</p>

<p>I&#39;m a new user and i&#39;ve had some success with&nbsp; the general worklfow of shaping and posing in DAZ.&nbsp; I&#39;m having a hard time locating some generic, simple clothing (nothing stylized, or colorful) that is&nbsp;</p>

<p>compatible with the Genesis 2 and 3 figures (male and felmale).&nbsp; I have the filter by context checked and i&#39;m not seeing anything that&#39;s included in the program that would work. Could someone</p>

<p>walk me through the process of locating just a simple generic outfit that would cover and be compatible for both the male and female figures?</p>

<p>I also dont want to disable transparency on the whole model. the hair contains transparent textures.</p>
