Hi! I'm fairly new to 3D. I've only been using Daz Studio for about 5 weeks. I've recently discovered an issue with some of my characters renders - some of the characters eyes render black or really dark or very pixelated. I THINK it might be just the older (G1 and Victoria V4) characters, but some of the older characters are ok (like base V4.2 is fine, but some of her characters aren't). There doesn't seam to be any rythme or reason for why some of them have messed up eyes and others do not. It also seams to effect some Genesis 1 characters. Here are three renders I did with multiple characers in each (these are full renders, not stoped early):

Stephanie 5's eyes are dark and grainy and yet in the same render "Riley for Stephanie 5" is fine. Base V4 is fine yet Joanie for V4 is grainy. Alesia for V4 is fine.

Again Stephanie 5's eyes are weird while Aiko 4's eyes are just GONE. Lilith 6's eyes are fine. I have very little G2 or G3 characters but the ones I do have seam to be fine. This seams to be mainly a G1 and V4 issue (but again, base V4 is fine and some of the characters for her are fine, but others are jacked up).

Genesis 3 male and female both have fine eyes, as well as Lilith 6 (I believe she's G2?) having fine eyes, but Genesis 1 renders eyes that are pixilated/grainy.

I'm rendering with Nvidia Iray with default render settings. No shaders or anything applied - just default everything.

I'm new to all this stuff and could really use some help. Most of my characters are the older G1 and V4 characters and they seam to be the ones effected by this. I don't really have much for G2 or G3 characters so if I can't get the characters I do have working right I'm in a bad place. Any help you guys can give me will be much appreciated! :)

I am interested in learning how these black and white grunge 'textures' work. I had been playing with putting 'finger prints' and other grime using similar looking textures onto metal spheres (working through a Blender tutorial) and I wonder how these things can actually tear the mesh or make it look so in DAZ and how to make this happen in Blender. This might also help me in getting more realistic ends of hair in polygon wigs I am attempting to make. I bought the first in a series of tutorials from DAZ on how to make hair wigs. I am trying to use blender instead of hexagon. Also, I notice the same sort of black and white ghostly images used in the eyelashes of figures. I want to know more!

Hi, I looked online and I tried a few of the other fixes to this but I don't think mine is the same as others. Can anyone tell me now to fix my Duplicate formula found error? When I uninstall Briallen HD the error goes away but I want to use that product so I need to figure out how to fix the error popup.

Hi All

Have a bit of a DAZ tantrum. I have a scene where i did a very good dforce duvet. Actually had two beds with this. I then imported an outside field asset into the scene.

I noticed that the dforce settings were reset. Now it seems no matter what i do it gives me the same error "Error preparing object to simulate". The last time i heard simulate is when Captain Pickard had to fight off the Borg...

Ive taken the bed assets and saved it as a subset. Opened it as a new scene and low and behold it worked. Then save that as a subset and then imported it into my troublesome scene.

Still doesnt work, the dforce resets to default.

Surely there must be something in my scene stopping it from working or telling it to reset to default?

Thx

I know how to import Daz figures with animations into Unity, but have to cut up the clip myself into all the different aniblocks.

I want to export from Daz and have it cut the animation into it's separate aniBlocks, into multiple animation clips, so I don't have to spend so much time trimming and duplicating the anim in Unity.

Read the entire Animate2 documentation and all Daz exporting documentation I could find, with no luck.

I have recently udpated my DAZ from 10 to 11. Upon installing 11, DAZ stopped rendering with GPU... Or, it would portentially render once, and then not again. I would restart DAZ, and the same. I would do a RAM memory purge, and the same. It is currently about a 25% chance of rendering via GPU. The requirements for the scenes are less than 2Gb beacuse I know this is not the best computer for rendering, nor is it the worst, but it is what I have.

I have a i7-8750H w/16Gb of RAM, and GTX 1050 Ti w/ 26.21.14.3160 driver installed 7/17/2019.

I have also been browsing the forums for simialar problems, but they all say the same, update your Video Card drivers... Which I have. Twice now.

I understand that the cameras are very different in the two apps, so I know a 100% conversion/transfer is probably not possible. So, if it is not possible to hit 100% fidelity, it would still be helpful to:

Copy the general position from Poser camera and transfer it to DS camera

Keep the viewport aspect ratios more or less the same

Move the camera render dimensions from Poser to DS

I'm not interested in animation, just static images.

Any ideas?

I think the update caused texture issues with one of my models when rendering in Iray, and I'd like to go back and see if that is indeed the cause, or if it's something else. Is there a way to go back to 4.10, or at least a download for 4.10 I could use?

EDIT: Actually, it's looking like it's not even rendering in GPU; it's rendering in CPU now for some reason. I don't think I had this issue with 4.10, and I did recently update the nVidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti driver (and Device Manager says that it's up to date).

Looking through the log, I'm finding these messages:
Iray WARNING - module:category(IRAY:RENDER): 1.1 IRAY rend warn : There is no CUDA-capable GPU available to the iray photoreal renderer.

I worked quite a long time on a pose and when I saved it, it threw an error and DS closed. It has been saved, but the same error will close DS whenever I try and apply the wearable pose:

DAZStudio.exe caused ACCESS_VIOLATION in module "C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4 Public Build\plugins\dztimeline.dll" at 0033:000000000AC94A9C

Any ideas on how I might be able to get this pose loaded again so I don't have to rebuild it? Funny thing is that it will only give the error when I apply it onto a character. Not when I load the wearable pose itself. So odd.

I started with an idea of having a side-of-the-head tattoo thinking that it wouldn't be that bad to apply just using Photoshop. Boy was I wrong.

The trouble basically just comes from the warping of the side of the head on the face texture. You can see what I tried to do attached, but as stubborn as I am, it's just not worth it to keep trying that way.

I know there are projection painting application that can be bought, but I honestly can't afford those. I'm somewhat competent with Blender, but basically my question is: how should I go about trying this next? (And if with Blender, could you link a tutorial please?! I've looked, but none that I found quite cover something like this.)

is it missing a line of code that's supposed to open the Daz3D app and load the mesh as a morph target or something?

Question: When a morph is projected on to a geograft from a figure, say the full body Height morph on Genesis 3 Female, how do you get the bones of the geograft to be re-positioned automatically as part of that projection?

Background/explanation

I have created a geograft with rigging to replace one hand of G3F. When loaded on base G3F it works as expected, including posing the bones. When I dial the Height morph (Actor/Full Body/Real World) on G3F, a generated (projected) morph appears on the geograft (FBMHeight). This has a value matching the G3F Height value. The mesh of the geograft moves up or down according to the increased or decreased height of G3F. So far, so good. However, the bones of the geograft stay in their original position, so the rigging is now broken.

I can fix this up to a point by applying 'Adjust Rigging to Shape' to the geograft. The bones are re-positioned and the rigging will now work. But this has to be done after every change in the value of the Height morph, so it is impractical. It seems to me there must be a way to set up some sort of ERC arrangement such that the G3F Height morph 'drives' the positions of the bones of the geograft so they maintain the correct position in relation to the geograft mesh. I cannot figure out how to achieve this.

I note that with geograft products I have bought, this is indeed what happens. As soon as I dial the Height morph, the FBMHeight property appears on the geografted product, and all the bones of that geograft show up as sub-components of G3F's FBMHeight under 1st stage (Add/Subtract) in the property hierarchy. These sub-components do not appear for the projected morph on my geograft. Now, I can create a new ERC property on G3F after applying Adjust Rigging to Shape to my geograft, with the geograft bones as 1st stage sub-components. Unfortunately, after saving this new property as a morph asset and reloading G3F, all the sub-components for the geograft bones have disappeared from the property. Also, it's a new property on top of the G3F Height and the projected FBMHeight on the geograft, which it seems I should not need.

Can anyone please help me with what I need to do to get this to work in the same way as I see existing geografts work?

Hi everyone,

I'm really, really new to iray, just having bought a new GPU. Went straight ahead into rendering and bought this set of lights, iRadiance mesh lights for Iray vol. 2: https://www.daz3d.com/iradiance-hdr-mesh-lights-volume-2-for-iray

While I really like the lights, I find that it's too soft. I attached a comparative photo of it vs. DS spotlights (I find the DS lights too 'hard').

I'm not sure what is it I'm doing wrong here since I just loaded the preset from iRadiance, if it helps, I attached the light's properties too.

Environment mode: Scene only
ISO: 100
Exposure: 13
Shutter speed: 32
F/stop: 16

Thanks in advance for any tips, complete newbie here!

This is not directly 3D related, but I am hoping someone might have some ideas.

My current pc started out with Windows 7 Pro, which allows you to move the user profiles. As It had only a small SSD at the time, I move the user profiles to the E: drive several years ago. Since then, I have updated to Windows 10, which does not allow you to move user profiles. The E: drive (Programs:) is a 2TB HDD contains the user profiles and most of my software, including Daz Studio and content. Having the user profiles on the drive affects the startup time of Windows, so earlier this week I bought a 1TB SSD, moved all my Poser and Daz content off the E: drive and then attempted to clone the drive to the SSD using Macrium Reflect. Unfortunately, Windows failed to recognise it as the same drive when I swapped the two drives, meaning that I couldn't log into Windows.

After a few days of pondering, today I made a bootable USB drive with Macrium Reflect, booted from that, made a disk image of the E: drive, switched off the pc, swapped to the SSD, booted from USB again and imaged the drive. Finally, I restarted and...it worked! Windows is accepting the new SSD as the E: drive with user profiles and software.

Now comes the next problem - I want to put the 2TB HDD back in so that I can use it exclusively for my 3D content and have plenty of space on the drive for the future. The problem is, which I reattach the drive to a new SATA port, Windows kicks off the new SSD and goes back to recognising the original E: drive. The only option I can think of now is to remove the HDD drive, put it in another pc and reformat it then try adding it again, but the drive is screwed in and is going to be very difficult to remove from the case.

All of the problems seem to stem from Windows trying to be helpful in recognising drives themselves, rather than from the SATA prort that they are attached to. Does anyone have any suggestions before I am forced to remove a graphics card just to get at the drive screws?
