      <title>Is there a way to use Opacity Maps that's independent from tiling?</title>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>The problem goes like this: I want to run a texturized pattern using the tiling functions on the surfaces tab, like small bumps, where I may do 50x50 horizontal and vertical tiling</p>

<p>However, on that same surface, I also want to use a singular opacity map to map something invisible (like the left arm of a coat)</p>

<p>When I make opacity maps, I make them over a given base map so that it&#39;s accurate, however, that&#39;s for strictly 1x1 tiling on the surface. Increasing it to 50x50 for the bumps also ruins the placement of the opacity map.</p>

<p>I customized an opacity map to fit exactly in her chest, and that way over the uniform&#39;s base map, with 1x1 tiling. I also made small bumps, on a bump map with 50x50 tiling, which then ruined the placement and size of the opacity map. What you see is actually two pics I spot rendered and layered, so that way I could do both.</p>

<p>But I&#39;d rather keep this on one outfit, one render. Is there a way? Thank you.</p>

<p>The white lining is a geoshell, which I also wanted to texture, but did not because of this same problem</p>

<p>I know how to edit geometry but sometimes the geometry shape just doesn&#39;t work</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I was chruning along working with Iray. Now I can&#39;t get one Iray render. for 2 days I haven&#39;t had one Render come out evey without a camrea. I folled Render Tutorials, nothing worked. What would be nice is if I was able to have the basic Render so I could have a master render. that I could click on it., and save that setup for a startup working Point. I was able to do some Pretty decent stuff, but what ever happened won&#39;t let me render. what I get is The render window before it starts rendering. in within 2 seconds it done, with the blank render window, with the info at the bottom where to save and name it and no image. for 2 days that is what I get. it makes me feel like a dummy. <span><strong>(don&#39;t say it ! )</strong></span> if&nbsp; I could have a starting set up that I could would say Master Iray starting setup. I would then have starting&nbsp; Point to start working&nbsp;with. I was able to move the lighting around in difference areas after a few say of rendering now nothing..I don&#39;t know how I was rendering fine, Now I can&#39;t render anything, even without using the camera,&nbsp; I went over every Tutorial I could find!</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I haven&#39;t been able to figure this out yet. I have the following relevant settings for a scene:</p>

<p><strong>Environment Mode</strong>: Dome and Scene; <strong>Dome Mode</strong>: Infinite Dome; <strong>Draw Dome</strong>: OFF; <strong>Environment Intensity</strong>: 2.0; and the rest are all set at their defaults. My character is facing in the default direction, which would be towards the Z positive axis. Is there any way to orient the dome in order to get the environment light directly above the character? Rotating the dome just rotates it around the y-axis. There doesn&#39;t appear to be any options to &quot;rotate&quot; it around x or z. Any recommendations?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I am trying to get character to animate from one preset pose to next. The next pose when i click it shows pointing to opposite direction, but when i turn it correctly, then animate on time line, the character does about 2 flips to get to that position. I thought idea was Daz to get it fro one to another but it wants to flip it about. Is there a way to do this? Some poses work out well, but others want to place it wierdly.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I recently stumbled upon an interesting article proving that in most gpu rendering engines it doesn&#39;t even matter, if your CPU can handle more than 16 direct PCI-e 3.0 lanes when you have more than one video card</p>

<p>It got me thinking, does Iray work that way as well?&nbsp;</p>

<p>Technically speaking, if you would install 2 identical GPU&#39;s on a single motherboard with 2 PCI-e x16 slots, your CPU would have to support 32 direct PCI-e lanes for these two cards to operate at full bandwidth. If this is not the case, and you have for example an i7 8700 (16 lanes), both cards are practically &#39;degraded&#39; to operate at 8x speed.&nbsp;</p>

<p>So my question is - does any of you ever used a 2x gpu configuration with a 16-lane cpu, and then switched to 32-lane or better and actually seen any performance boost during rendering?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>DAZ Studio&nbsp; is a terrible nightmare at least for MAC users, but not because it&rsquo;s a difficult&nbsp;sw to use . But because it&rsquo;s impossible to install it and also all the app it needs to fix the infinite problems you meet and to make it works properly. Each week a new app appears, but the content and smart library are empty. Every day I try to launch it and all is changed from the day before. Today Smart&nbsp; and Content tab are disappeared! No way to find them. Put it on the trash and go back to Poser, please!!!!</p>

<p>Or make a very simple app to convert all the file you need to build&nbsp;a scene avoiding to open DAZ Studio since you never find your expensive models collected from years</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Do we have any idea if and when Daz Studio will support AMD graphics cards? They&#39;re pretty good for content production these days it seems but as I understand it the only renderer that Daz 3D supports (IRay) is Nvidia only. I have a Threadripper build and have been trying out the software with CPU-only rendering. I&#39;m curious if anyone can give me some idea of just how much slower this is than a mid-range graphics card. And also, as per thread title, if there&#39;s any AMD support on the horizon?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>So I noticed that the 3 &quot;Advanced Lights&quot; (Ambient, Distant, and Spotlight) I purchased and installed via DIM the other day were showing as not installed in Smart Content. There was no option to Install after right-clicking, so I fired up DIM and uninstalled &amp; reinstalled. Same problem.</p>

<p>Found files inside &quot;My Library&quot; and deleted. Downloaded manual EXE installers and chose custom install to make sure were going to the right locations.</p>

<p>All the files are in the right places according to the Readme, but Smart Content still keeps telling me &quot;file not installed.&quot;</p>

<p>And no matter how much I refresh, the whole &quot;Age of Armour&quot; folder won&#39;t show up in Content Library even though have manually confirmed the files and folders are there.</p>

<p>Quit DAZ and rebooted PC a few times inbetween some of these steps.</p>

<p>Should I just give up and ask for&nbsp; a refund? I mostly wanted them as was a requirement for the &quot;Light Up the Dark&quot; light set, but I won&#39;t be able to use that either if the Advanced Lights can&#39;t be accessed from inside DAZ studio.</p>

<p>I tried re-installing Daz months &amp; all my Daz content months ago.</p>

<p>Today I tried:</p>

<p>Removing &quot;Genesis 3 Starter Essentials Male&quot; using DIM</p>

<p>Removing all &quot;Genesis 3 Male xxx&quot; morphs (I had 4) using DIM.</p>

<p>Deleting those packages from DIM, then downloading them again.</p>

<p>Installed the above Genesis 3 male packages again.</p>

<p>Resetting my content directory database.</p>

<p>This didn&#39;t work.&nbsp; Help!&nbsp; &nbsp;<br />

      <description><![CDATA[<p>To set the stage for my question, I created three in Hexagon and imported them to DAZ3D.&nbsp; For the purpose of my question, let&#39;s call them Head, Handle and Grip (imagine a hammer).</p>

<p>Once in DAZ, I have three items in my scene - Head, Handle and Grip.</p>

<p>I&#39;ve parented head to handle, and handle+head to grip.&nbsp; So, in the scene I can collapse grip and whereever I move grip, or rotate it, resize it, etc., the other two follow.&nbsp; And, if I go to surfaces I can select each one and change the texture on each one.</p>

<p>What I WANT to do is turn these three in to one item in the scene, but if I select that item in the surfaces tab, I see all three surfaces.&nbsp; Thus, in the Scene tab I do not want the user to be able to expand it.&nbsp; It will simply be ONE object, but with three textures.</p>

<p>How do I do this?</p>

<p>And that&#39;s the extent of the instructions---except not to use settings and maps.</p>

<p>I have an issue where I am rendering canvases with a beauty pass. However, anything instanced comes out black, with no textures. Turning alpha on will make these objects 100% alpha.</p>

<p>I noticed that none of these instances will turn up in the node list when trying to select this.</p>

<p>Rendering without canvas will render everything</p>

<p>Is this expected behavior? How do I make canvases with instances?</p>

I have been looking into the beta to use the Face Swap feature.</p>

<p>My issue is that I successfully followed the instructions, updated the previous version and downloaded the beta, and now I can&#39;t open my Daz software!<br />
I&#39;ve gone into my roaming/daz3d/studio4 folder than forced a launch via &#39;startupscript.dsa&#39; but that only brings me to 4.11 (not a solution/way to access 4.12).</p>

<p>Please help me to 1) get my daz working from my start menu again and 2) start using the 4.12 beta please!<br />

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hi Guys,&nbsp;</p>

<p>I need some help, I&#39;ve added a shirt (a Genesis 8 male shirt) onto a Genesis 3 character and when I turn her head, left and right, the tip of the&nbsp;collars start to stretch and distort.&nbsp;<br />
This is very frustrating.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Is there a way to fix this so that the shirt collars do not interfere with the head turning?&nbsp;</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I know this is an odd question. But what if I wanted to just render a character (to view detail) without any lights. Basically, a better version of the Perspective View. No lights, no shadow. Is this possible?</p>

<p>Playing around with the settings I eather get an all-black silhouette or a light source.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Trying to save a Zero hand pose, but can&#39;t seem to get there, in DS 4.11</p>

<p>To start, I tried selecting a G8 figure hand, and choosing Edit&gt;Object&gt;zero selected items pose. That only zeroed the hand and not the fingers.</p>

<p>So I manually zeroed each segment of each finger and the thumb, then I tried saving that as a pose preset, choosing the hand and all the nodes below it, and the pose controls for the left hand. But when I make a change to the hand, then apply the pose, nothing at all happens. Done this dozens of times in Poser, what am I missing?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I need some help please.</p>

<p>I want to create a zombie&nbsp;with an overlay of smoke, but I want the smoke&nbsp;effect to only appear on the zombie, not the background.</p>

<p>The background needs to remain transparent (no smoke) because this will be for a t-shirt printing.</p>

<p>So I have the zombie figure and the smoke effect products.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Is there a way to make the smoke plane only effect the figure and not overlay the background?</p>

<p>I suppose I could get rid of the smoke surrounding the zombie&nbsp;in Photoshop after rendering the image, but I was hoping there was a way to do this directly in DAZ Studio, without postwork.</p>

<p>I was hoping there was a way to mask areas in the DAZ scene so that they do not pick up the effects being applied. For example, if I could put a mask over everything except the figure itself, before applying the smoke effect?</p>

<p>I hope I&#39;m explaining this right (see attached render with smoke on entire scene, not just the figure).</p>
