Since installing the latest version of DAZ Install Manager (64bit 1.2.0.52) it is a mess. It takes ages to show content to be installed. Sometimes downloads constantly fail. ATM downloads are extremely slow and stop continuously, I have to resume or they are shown as "failed" and download has to start again, even if it was at 99 or 100%.

With the previous version everything was fine, this new version is obviously highly buggy.

Where can I download an earlier version to install it?

I looked through the list of items in the description and it does not list a skull. However, it says that there are over 80 items for the room, including candles.

I need a realistic skull and the one picture here is perfect, so if is not part of the product I would like to know where it is from.

So I wanted some light in my hallway. I imported a light mesh obj and then set one of the materials (the "bulb") to emissive. The emissive settings are as follows:

Emission Temperature: 6000
Emission Profile: None
Emission Colour (RGB): 1.00 1.00 1.00

Luminance: 2500.00 (kcd/m^2)

My problem is I don't think it looks quite right. The falloff seems wrong, i.e. very, very bright right near the bulb and then kind-of dim bounces off the walls. Should I choose an emission profile for this and if so, which one? Other than that is there a way to change the falloff so it's more even and brighter at a distance? The bulb looks over-exposed to me. I had to ramp up the luminance in order to get a reasonable amount of light on the walls but it seems way too high.

Here's a picture showing what the model and scene look like:

Looking at "Smart Content", everything came up OK, but are showing as black and while icons that require installing (using the Right Click option), before working.

Hello,

I have a problem with Animate 2 (or lack of understanding...). I have the licensed version and I am getting unexpected result when creating Animate 2 animation from DAZ timeline. I am trying to create a 3 frames animation.

Here is what I do:
1) create new scene
2) import Genesis 3 figure in base pose (frame 0, screenshot_f0)
3) in scene panel, select G3 figure and select all children (Select -> Select children)
4) in DAZ timeline, set Total frames to 3, Range is now 0 - 2 (keep FPS on default 30)
5) in DAZ timeline, move slider to frame 1 (second frame)
6) apply custom pose 1 (frame 1, screenshot_f1)
7) in DAZ timeline, move slider to frame 2 (third and last frame)
8) apply custom pose 2 (frame 2, screenshot_f2)
9) double check on DAZ timeline, that everything is set as expected (cycle through frames 0 - 2, G3 changes position as desired)
10) switch to Animate 2 panel, right click, select "Create aniBlock from studio keyframes"
Use Direct Copy, Translation + Rotation checked, Scale + morphs/values unchecked (May this dialog setting be part of the problem? I believe I've tried all possible combinations but with no success.)
11) I can see that the new animation contains 3 frames in Animate 2 panel, but if I cycle the frames through Animate 2 frame selector, the G3 figure gets a rotation that shouldn't be there in between frames 1 (second frame) and 2 (third frame).
See screentshot_rotated

I would expect that if the animation in DAZ timeline works as expected, it would be 1:1 transfered to Animate, but that seems not to be the case.

Any idea why the figure gets rotated between frames 1 and 2 after converting the DAZ timeline to Animate 2 animation?
What should I be looking at to get rid of this?

Thanks a lot for providing any insight that could help me understand what may be going on.

Additional information:
If I open "Graph Editor" in Animate 2 on the final animation block, I can see that there is "rot_force_x" value set on "hip" of the G3 figure (screenshot_rot_force_x_on_hip). If I reset the rot_force_x (set value to 0), the rotation is gone (screenshot_rot_force_x_on_hip_reset). Ok, but why is there any rot_force_x added in the first place if there is (seemingly) none in the DAZ timeline?

I've purchased light sets, but end up using a mix of spotlights and emissives I configure myself as I go, because it's easy. As a rule, I use planes as my primitives. My reasoning has been that I can create them with 1 division, so that's less geometry. So today I watched this lighting video, and the presenter prefers using spheres, which obviously have many more sides. The only time I've used spheres is when I need to emulate a light bulb inside a lamp shade.

Now I'm not unhappy using planes, but I'm interested in learning better approaches. Is there a specific benefit to using spheres, other than the shape of the emitted light? My concern with them has been that they would have more sides, and that would mean more light sources and that would mean slower render times. Is that how it really works, or does that not have any effect on render times?

But when I save the pose, and then load it to a figure, it says, "Pose exceeds limits, yada yada", and offers me the choice between exceeding limits or not. If I choose not to exceed limits, the pose loads fine. If I choose to exceed limits, I get the right quad flexing. But no matter which option I choose, if I then load another pose onto the figure, the right quad is distorted and shrunken looking.

I've tried loading the pose with limits and resaving it, but that didn't work. I've tried deleting the figure, loading a brand new one, and applying the pose, then saving it, no dice. I've tried selecting all the children of the figure, and turning on limits for all of them, then saving it, but still no go. I've tried holding down ctrl when loading the pose, and then choosing "limits", but that doesn't work either. No matter how I setup and save the pose, when I apply it it says that it exceeds limits.

Sorry if this is a newb-ish question, but I've got a render that was suposed to stop at 95% convergence, and it just will not go above 94.60%. It reached the 94.60% converged after about 500 cycles. Now it is at 4000+ cycles and still never seen an update on the convergence.

So, if I hit cancel on the rendering status pane open in the main window, will the box with the rendered image stick around long enough for me to save the image?

If not, I'll have to cancel it, and re-render it later after changing the render convergence threshold to 94.50% I guess. Time to leave for work and don't have time for it to hit the other cutoff triggers.

EDIT: and it finally reached convergence and stopped after 4900+ cycles.

I'd still like to know answer to my question though.

Hello, everyone.

I've created a Dformer for basic clothes for G8M and saved the scene. Next time, when i've loaded the scene, i noticed that the Dformer (clothes with Dformer applied) is not the same (both viewport and render). I managed to bring it back to it's previous state by saving it as Dformer preset, deleting it from scene and loading it back as Dformer preset. I compared numerical component of both "versions" of the Dformer (base, field, Dformer itself) and didn't find any difference. Now everytime i load the scene, i have to delete the Dformer and load it back as Dformer preset to get it's right state. How do you think, why this happened?

Strange thing is that i have other scenes with G8M, these basic clothes and quite similar Dformers, and no problems there. Perhaps the only significant difference is that in those scenes i created Dformers and in the "probleme" scene i imported one of those Dformers and changed it. Maybe this can be the reason, somehow?

So... Is there a way (besides hiding complicated objects like hair and other high-poly stuff) to speed up the opengl preview in DAZ? I often find that with 4-5 figures + some props the viewport becomes sluggish to the point that posing or moving objects is very difficult. Constantly hiding/showing stuff is kind of a workflow killer for me....

I'm on i7 8700 and GTX 1080ti, 32gb ram. Is this too slow to handle 5 figures in the viewport?

EDIT: I found some options in daz's preferences tab. Image included. My question is - does fiddling with for example, thetexture parameter will affect the final render quality?

I am just starting to try and crack the Blender nut. All I need is a simple flattened cube with a hole through it to import as an OBJ to DAZ. I can create it easily enough in Blender with Boolean difference, and then I create a single material zone, but every time I import into DAZ the hole is basically filled in. If I tilt the model in DAZ I can just see the edge of the hole's curve in the shape but other than that it appears to just be a flattened cube, no hole.

What am I missing?

I've heard people say that non-sli actually does improve renders but that sli can hinder the render since it's not reccomended.
Any thoughts?

I'm trying to create a realistic bale of hay for DS. I wanted to make it more realistic by having hay sticking out of the sides so I first used UltraScatter to create the instances, and then Instances to Props to convert the hay stickie-outs to props so that I could import it back into Hexagon.

It worked just fine, but when I imported it into Hexagon I looked at the materials and discovered that for each blade of hay sticking out, there was a separate material.

I had five different blades I'm using for the hay sticking out, each with a different material name (BladeA, BladeB, etc.). There should be only six materials (one for the bale) but what I2O seems to do as it's converting the to objects is to create a material for each instance/prop with the same name as the object name in the Scene panel. So the first prop and materials is named BladeA, the second BladeA (2), the third BladeA (3) etc.

So, since I had 2,038 individual blades, I now had 2,038 materials (plus one for the bale).

To change each in Hexagon would have been ridiculous. But I was able to rename all the blade materials to the original five material names by opening the exported OBJ in MS Word and doing a series of change-alls. The material names in the OBJ are like "usemtl BladeC_BladeC_(316)" so I changed, for instance, "usemtl BladeC*************^P" to "BladeC^P". I needed to do 15 of these (3 for each of the five blade names).

Shouldn't I2O use the original material names rather than creating a new one for each instance? Having thousands of different material names is burdensome.
