Hi everyone,

I'm trying to import some fluid animation made from Blender to Daz. In order to do this I did some search and found this video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yx0VpjGgAyc&list=PLa-KaMZXXRKyRzKwSNS4dEe1uQOg3AePl&index=15&t=0s

The author explain that he created a simulation into Blender and then an obj sequence to import it into Modo, so I did the same but to use it with Daz.

Then I look for an obj sequence importer and found this : https://sites.google.com/site/mcasualsdazscripts2/mcjobjstomorphingprop

Unfortunately this obj sequence importer work only for an obj with same vertices number everytime (btw that's a great script if you're looking to add some cloth simulation to your render)

Is there a way to import an obj sequence and have a specific obj file per frame, for exemple obj_000 at frame 0, obj_001 at frame 1 etc ?

Anything related to my issue is welcome.

Thanks for reading me and have a nice day !

I've had a problem with Iray preview.: the preview wasn't appearing, regardles how long I waited, the image was staying grey, as it does when you start the preview. I assumed that it was caused by my computer being unable to handle the scene, or/and by the emissive lights I had just added. But searching for mentions of a similar issue on this forum, I noticed that a couple of people had mentioned that deleting a specific item in the setting had solved the issue. One had to delete a shirt, another a figure. I tried to delete every element one by one except a chair, and the issue indeed turned out to be caused for some reason by a specific item in the scene, in my case genitals. As it wasn't my lucky day, this was the very last item among many that I tried to remove. In fact, deleting the element wasn't necessary. Simply hiding it was enough for Iray preview to work again.

There's no real question here, but I thought that people might be interested to know in case they would face the same issue (I wasted a lot of time trying to get the Iray preview to work). Especially since I found the solution myself by searching this forum (the two posts mentioning the problem didn't have any answer, IIRC).

This is purely a theoretical question, as I have no pressing need to try this. But over the Halloween holiday I set up a large yard display with a lot of props painted and illuminated with black light (ultraviolet). Here's a few pics of my display.

I was wondering if anyone has any idea if it is possible to simulate black light / ultraviolet light in Iray. Now, I imagine I could do something similar by creating a light-emitting texture, but that's not really the same thing, is it? Any thoughts on this?

Hi all,
This is my first post on the forum so I do hope I'm posting it in the correct location.

Okay, so this program only started happening today and I have no idea what's going on or what's changed...

So yesterday I was rendering perfectly fine with no issues "rendered 17 images in total" it was getting late so I saved my scene, closed Daz and put my system into sleep mode.
Today I woke the system up, booted up Daz and loaded the very same scene.
The last image I rendered yesterday had the wrong DOF settings so all I did was correct it and set the render off again, this is when the issue started.

Around 4 minutes into the render, I noticed that it had switched from rendering with the GPU to the CPU "this had never happened to me before"
I stopped the render, closed the image and started it off again only for it to do the same thing.

I closed the program, opened it again and tried again, you guessed it, the same result.
I did all the usual checks (Render Settings -> Advanced Both GPU's were checked + OptiX) (CPU was unchecked)

I decided to start a new scene and load a simple Gen 3 starter model into it, I hit render and again... the same issue...
This was very confusing as from what I know it usually only switches to the CPU if there isn't enough VRAM for the scene.

Here are my System Specs, I definitly have enough power to render a simple Gen 3 model only.

CPU : Intel I7-7800X @ 3.50ghz
RAM : 64GB (Idles around 6GB used)
HDD : 2x 2TB (20% full)
GPU 1 : NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 TI (11gb dedicated) (Latest Driver : 26.21.14.4112)
GPU 2 : NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 TI (11gb dedicated) (Latest Driver : 26.21.14.4112)
Daz : 4.12

By this point, I had no idea why it was doing this, I did the following all the while loading up Daz3d after each point and ending with the same result.

Rebooting the System.

Rolling back the NVIDIA drivers.

Using DDU to totally remove the drivers and installing them again.

Remove Daz and then installing it again.

Trying the Daz 4.12 Beta version

Rolling back to Daz 4.11

Disabling my AV just in case that was somehow affecting it.

Checking Temps, they're all within the normal range "not overheating".

Removing the GPUs from the system and then putting them back in.

Booting up some FX demanding games, they all run fine, nothing wrong with the cards.

After all of this, I was still getting the same result, after a couple of minutes of it render with the GPU it would all of a sudden switch to the CPU.
Sometimes the program would simply crash without showing an error window...

So here I am, begging for some help as this is driving me crazy!
Nothing changed overnight (In terms of drivers/window updates etc), this just started happening with no reason that I'm aware of.

This is what is being saved in the log file.

In a perfect situation, where a character is in A or T pose and center of universe, and you add a dformer, the cloth or object which is within the sphere of influence are 'painted' accordingly. However, if your character if in a lying pose or non center of universe, cloth or object within the sphere of influence are no longer affected and I have to do something non-intuitive like move it in some extreme x/y position to 'paint' the objects. Is there a setting to correct this or I just totally misunderstood the usage?

Hi All!

I am having a little trouble rendering a scene, and I don't think there is much to render to it, just the skydome (Iray SkyDome), a Tiny House, and a big house, the problem is that, if the big house is in the scene (not in viewport, but the whole scene) the rendering crashes, mentioning that I am unable to allocate enough memory.

Setup:

Ryzen 1700, 2x1080ti, 16gb ram, windows 10, DAZ 4.12

Been having a weird issue lately with Daz studio. 90% of the time when I use Ctrl Z to undo something, it causes Daz Studio to lock up. I can use the top right buttons (Minimize, Close, etc.), but nothing else highlights or opens. This causes big issues when working on a render and forgetting to save every 5 seconds in case I forget and use the Ctrl Z shortcut to undo a mistake. Has anyone else had this issue? I have reinstalled windows recently, and it was having that issue, so I also reinstalled Daz but it keeps doing it even after both reinstalls.

now the first character, the male character exports perfectly, the rig works, everything.

the second character. the female character, again, the rig works, everytings fine, except one morph is not being applied.

"chest width"

it's also not a third party morph, it's one of the basic ones that daz comes with from what i understand. i also have many other morphs from the same set applied, all of which export correctly.

why is this happening? i've closed, restarted, exported again, exported as differetn file types (which all worked fine), but the only one giving me a problem is the ".dae" file failing to export the "chest width" morph.

4) same pose applied .. works fine
now it may be wonderful that the fix was simple .. but it's not
Lilly HD is PA character
but other characters who are mixtures of a bunch of morphs, the only character file I have is the scene subset I saved of them.
---
on the merge scene presets the deform goes away with the figure restore but comes back when poses are applied.

some parameter/setting that is changed from 411 save to 412 merge into scene?

Hello! I'm trying to get started with DAZ studio, but there's some sort of major problem with how everything looks on my computer. The grey grid in perspective view (and all models I add), blur into a complete mess whenver I move the viewpoint. Here is an example attached. All I did was add a model, delete it, and then move the view slightly. Rather than having a clean perspective view, the ghost of the model plus crazy grey lines are everywhere.

I assume this must be a common problem because I just installed the software. But I can't seem to google a fix/explanation. Does anyone know what's going on? Thanks for any help!

(I have a ~$700 gaming laptop that does most visual stuff well enough, even if it's not top of the line. I assume it might be a hardware issue.)

I swear to Disney, every last video "tutorial" I can find about animation in Daz Studio either:

A) Starts with the utter, unshakeable conviction that nobody in the world ever animated any character—or ever would want to animate any character—other than by plunking that character into an empty, blank, boring, dreary, grey background with a white grid to stand on, always at universe zero, and/or,

B) Starts in as though you already know everything anyway, and/or,

C) Subjects the viewer to alleged "music" worse than fingernails scraping on the inside of a lead casket lid, and/or,

D) Has no talking at all, just a ghostly cursor that runs around the screen doing jerky little "dancing" motions repeatedly over menu items being selected—which invariably are completely unreadable, even at full screen.

Too much of this can lead to screaming and damaged computers.

Even the ones that actually managed to show how to create an animation with a character, either pose-to-pose or with aniblocks—always in a sere grey empty background—never get around to even mentioning how to get any such animated character placed into any kind of worthwhile scene at all. The closest anyone came to it that I could find was by a tutorialist who normally is excellent, who created an animated figure doing a walk (drear, grey, blank, basic default background), then merged a huge "city" prop into the scene with the animated figure—and then (listen up) moved and rotated the entire "city" around, up, down, left right, until the city was where he wanted it in relation to the character.

[Blink] Neither he, nor anyone else I can find anywhere in the cyberverse, ever tells how (or even if it's possible) to animate with aniblocks a character that is already positioned in a scene, well away from 0-0-0, and far along into other animations already in that scene.

Last night I was working on a ~230-frame animation. I have a character in the scene that is not in view of the camera until frame 131, at which point she must get up from a couch, stand for a moment, and then walk forward a few steps and assume a pose. I animated pose-to-pose her getting up from the couch and standing for a moment. So then I wanted to simply insert an aniblock to have her walk a few steps. I re-saved the file.

The moment I even clicked on the AniMate2 pane tab, my entire animation was wiped out, with the entire scene now being only 30 frames long. I was stunned, so I immediately went to REOPEN that just saved file, specifically NOT saving it after that catastrophe. And when I reopened it, ALL the original animation had been erased from it, and even in the timeline it was showing as only 30 frames long, with no animation at all.

I threw in the towel. It can't be just me. (Well, maybe it can.)

Does anybody have any idea at all about how to apply an aniblock to a character in situ, well into an animated scene file, without destroying everything already done?

What is a "zero prop"?

I feel like an idiot, and it seems like it's almost safe to just assume it's a preset that returns the prop to some default state, but you know what they say about assumption.

So, to avoid making an ass out of some guy named Umption, I go to look it up. Google, the forums, the documentation, so far I've found nothing that actually says "A 'zero prop' is _____."

So... Feel free to point and laugh and tell me I'm - well, choose your epithet - but if you could either tell me, or, better, tell me where I should have looked it up, or even both... I'd very much appreciate it. :(
