I've used Age of Armour's lights for years in Studio 4.9 with no problems, but I've noticed they don't work at all in the 4.11 Public Beta I recently installed. The AofA duf icons are there when 4.11 is running, but when I doublecliick them nothing happens.

Do I have to install an AofA update to get the lights to work in 4.11, and would doing so break their compatability with 4.9?

I think I may be close to getting this zipper thing sorted out, but the method that I am using involves moving the parts using curves, and works as I move the time slider along.

So, for example, when I hit play in Maya, the zipper would go from being at the top of the shirt, to being at the bottom, and then undone. But can that full sequence be exported as a morph? I mean, hypothetically, I could export it one frame at a time and make dozens of tiny morphs, or move the slider to the end and export that alone as a morph, but then daz would just be guessing at everything in between, and wouldn't likely make it morph in the way that I would like.

I've been using a triple monitor setup with Daz for years. I recently picked up a 4k monitor to replace my main display, but this causes problems for Studio. I normally undock the "Content Library" pane group, and the "Parameters" pane group and have one on each side monitor, with the main body of the program on the middle monitor. The only way to do this now is to set everything at one scale. For instance, the 4k monitor wants to set the scaling to 150%, and the 24" monitors at 100%. If you do that, the pane groups crash and disappear when you move them to the side monitors. I have to set everything to 100% or 150%. I doubt there's a convenient fix, just wanted to throw it out there.

I am planning on making icon cards for all the expression sliders that are lacking them. Do I have to go through and link them one by one with the property panel, or will just putting them in the same folder and named the same as the morph do it?

A workflow tip for anyone that gets here VIA Google:
Adding cards to a pose slider set:

1)Create your slider cards at 147 x 185 px in .png format

2)Place all the cards in the same folder as the morph files, and name them so you know which card is for which morph

3)Click on the gear icon by the slider you wish to add a card to, and go to parameter settings. Click on the the dropdown next to card and go to browse.

4)On the first card you place, browse to the proper location

5)Once at the location, double click on the browser address bar, copy the path

6)Select the proper card for the slider and hit accept

7)For all the rest of those cards, instead of having to click through a bajillion folders again(some reson DS don't remember last directory in this context), double click address in browser and paste, it should bring you back to the right folder so you can select the card you want to link. You can resize the window to fit all of the cards, DS should remember that change and keep opening up big windows. Also, if you have to copy something else in the middle of the process, you can go to the previously done slider, and click on browse there to recopy the proper location.

8)When set is done, go to File > save as > support asset > save modified assets to lock in the save

9)Navigate to the folder the morphs are kept in inside the data folder. Copy the "icon_large" line from the morph to the alias and save the alias. If you can't open the morph and or the alias, you have to use the batch convert tool found in the windows > panes menu in DS.

A quicker and easier way is to use DSF toolbox to just edit the icon into the alias and bypass the part about editing the parameter in daz studio. It will fill the icon out correctly for you, it seems it only needs to be in the alias to show up.

I am in somewhat in distress.

I attempted to place all of my Renderosity content in it's own folder named "Renderosity" within the "my Daz Library folder so it would be more easily accessible.

I followed online instructions listed by SickleYield on Deviant Art:

https://www.deviantart.com/sickleyield/journal/Tutorial-Installing-Content-in-DAZ-Studio-508155677?comment=1%3A508155677%3A3723180959&d=123&modal=welcomeback

In particular, after creating the "Renderosity" folder inside the "my Daz Library" folder I right clicked on "Daz Studio Formats" and selected "add a base directory" and selected the "Renderosity" folder I had created. My "new" Renderosity content is now available, but all my previously installed characters have disappeared.

I'm guessing that my "base directory" is now the newly created "Renderosity" folder and Daz doesn't know where my previously installed content from "my Daz library" is.

How to I recover the old content and get Daz3d to recognize both the "new" and "old" base directories?

I've been having an issue with renders dropping to CPU, sometimes after only a few iterations and sometimes after a few hundred. It has nothing to do with scene complexity, or VRAM, or anything of that nature. Each time the GPU drops out, I get the following error:

2019-12-07 15:03:02.205 WARNING: dzneuraymgr.cpp(307): Iray ERROR - module:category(IRAY:RENDER): 1.7 IRAY rend error: Missing texture node_tex

This is always preceded by a kernel failure, but the kernel number is always changing. Most commonly it's 5, 6, and 18.

The other errors thrown up also differ each time, ranging from "an illegal instruction was encountered", "an illegal memory access was encountered", "hardware stack error", and others. The only commonality with anything in the error logs is that it always says "missing texture node_tex".

I seem to have narrowed down this issue to the Metallicity slider. I can set up a surface with textures, adjust other sliders, etc., and it will render just fine. When I adjust the metallicity slider (though sometimes just adjusting the slider is fine) it craps out to CPU, and especially whenever I put a texture in the metallicity field.

I've completely re-installed Daz (I'm on 4.10) as well as installing the latest compatible Nvidia drivers. Done that several times, actually, with nothing helping.

Has anyone encountered something like this? Obviously, I can just not use the metallicity slider, but I would prefer to be able to adjust that.

Thanks in advance.

I just got done move my Daz install off my Solid State drive and onto a different hard drive. Every step of the way, I'd have to go in and set up paths. Install Manager needed to have its paths changed, and once I got Daz installed, I had to go in and tell it to look somewhere other than the C drive as well.

I can load a scene that I previously put together. Now when try to add something from smart content, it says "Do you want to save changes before loading a new scene."

I went ahead and said yes to get further info (It shouldn't be asking me that when I add a necklace, fer cryin' out loud) and it then tells me "File Does Not Exist."

Now, if I drag it into the scene it loads into the scene. Which works okay for props, but I can't exactly apply a shader that way.

It's doing this for everything. I've been trying to figure it out on my own for quite some time now.

I have learned that uninstalling Daz, and zapping every file you can find doesn't seem to remove program settings. Am I going to have to go into the registry to fix this? Why does it do this in the first place? The lack of options when you install the program is appalling. Setting it up on a secondary hard drive has just been one headache after another. It shouldn't be this difficult. ALL these options should be a part of the installer. This has been my one gripe with Daz since I started using it.

I just spent a couple hours uninstalling, then reinstalling, with stops in the middle to change folder paths. I just want to work on this scene. Can't even work on a new scene.

Hi guys,

After reading a fair bit into eGPU's & Daz 3d I decided to invest a bit of money into this and got the following setup to go with my MacBook Air (Early 2015):

Sonnet Breakaway 550W (connected through TB3 > TB2 adapter from Apple)

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti GAMING 11G

On https://egpu.io I toke all the necessary steps to make the setup work. My eGPU with NVIDIA graphic card works perfectly when I tested it. However, for some reason I do not get Daz 3d to acknowledge my NVIDIA graphics card. It's there in my hardware features but does not show in my Render panel:

As you can imagine this is a huge disappointment as I bought this setup to get faster Iray renders. I've been reading into it for the entire morning and the only thing I can come up with, is that the latest Daz Studio 4.11 is too new and the drivers don't match.

Does anyone here have any idea what it could be? Or how I could get Daz to acknowledge my eGPU gfx card? I went through some old topics on the forum here and it seems to work for a lot of people...

Hope someone can help me out!

Thanks in advance!

So a couple of days ago, I was doing Daz stuff as usual, enjoying the benefits of 4.12 (faster iray previews etc), when suddenly - after trying to open up one of my character "files", Daz crashed. I thought it might just be a one time thing, so I tried again - crashed again. (and again... and again).

---> https://imgur.com/a/eVEhwic --->This was the only thing that it popped out the first time it happened, I'm lucky that I managed to get a screenshot of the problem. That said, It's likely not even close to being the only problem.

After googling this same issue, I only found a single discussion on something similar involving the .dll (it was on F95zone). The only thing that was recommended was to "Clear the DSON cache" in prefferences. (What does it even is that btw?) Stupid me did it without any backups, and afterwards - the issue was not only not solved, but I also started getting this issue - https://imgur.com/a/f6VWYjq (messed up skin, characters etc).

IMPORTANT TO NOTE -

1. Every other version (4.11, 4.11 public beta, 4.12 public beta) is not crashing. (One small important detail - in 4.12 public beta, a different character of mine kept having "skin" issues when I changed her eyes, for example, or changing the maps by 0.01% or some stupid stuff like that. Here's how it looks - https://imgur.com/a/irtdBaH.

Obviously, this means that while 4.12 is pretty messed up for me at the moment, other versions are not quite 100% right either. ALSO - I tested just now characters that aren't from "Daz Originals" , and they don't get this issue. All my characters use Daz Originals skins, so perhaps It's wise to look there for a solution, perhaps redownload them since something is amiss.

3. I have reinstalled Daz 4.12 now about... 4-5 times through the DAZ Install Manager, and nothing helped. I deleted the "studio4" folder once (got a backup this time, though), but nothing changed. Do note - I'm not sure I did the "uninstallation" process completely how it should be to start "fresh" (with all content remaining, though), because Daz still rememered everything. Is there a way to do a completely fresh 4.12 install if it all comes down to that?

At this point, I'm desperate, I really am. 4.12 was so smooth, everything was going great...until it wasn't. I was almost at a point where I was starting to go "public" with my renders, and this...well...obviously puts a major bump on all of this.

What do I do? I'll legit kiss the person who solves this. If you need any more details, ANYTHING - just ask, and I'll provide it. Solving this issue, either be it with a full reset or whatever, is incredibly important to me.

Thank you for reading

Hi,

I've only used G3 and G8 figures so i'm a bit confused with what products i need to have installed in order for the one below to work. I tried looking on the Daz store but the naming conventions between G2 G3 G8 and which named models like Victoria 4 6 7 8 go to which Gen figure are a bit confusing. It says Victoria 4 Base so that should mean i also need the basic G2F installed from the DIM right? I think V4 and V6 are both G2F? or is V6 G2F and V4 is something else like just Genesis?

Deleting custom parameter dials

I was playing with the parameters to create some quick ERC animation dials. I saved the file as a morph asset which ended in my main Daz library. But now every time I load a new figure it's starting pose is funny. When I delete the newly created dial it resets the character T-Pose. But when I load new figure the deleted dial is there again, creating the same funny pose. I tried to find the dial in the data folder but it's not there (the asset was saved as a compressed file). Two questions; how do I prevent custom dials from affecting the initial pose? And how do I find and remove them? Thanks!
