      <description><![CDATA[<p>I just installed Daz Studio 4.12 on a new computer (refurbished iMac). All of my old content libraries, models and scenes are on a removable drive. Now, Studio won&#39;t open any of the scene .DUF files on the remote drive, and when I save a scene to the folder, it will no longer open that scene either. The files are &quot;grayed out&quot;. However, it does seem to read the content libraries on the removable drive.</p>

<p>Can I set my old &quot;models&quot; folder as the default instead of the one Daz installed? How can I get Studio to recognize the old files as valid?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Daz 4.12, yadda yadda, how do I save custom poses so they are also in Poser format? I want the DAZ format and Poser. Pretty simple question there. Pose Builder for Victoria 4.2 and Michael 4 broke the models arms, causing them to bow and undo didn&#39;t / couldn&#39;t fix what happend so the pose file is obviously not going to work either (right?).</p>

<p>I think I&#39;m originally familiar with the 3DStudio? The Non-LRay stuff. I&#39;m stuck home again and started to fiddle aorund with DAZ and get serious about making my own custom poses annnnnd... I&#39;m looking at upgrading to the new age of G3 and G8. From V4.2. I know, old.</p>

<p>So, my first HUGE new problem is my main hurdle:</p>

<p>The Surface editor tab. Great Caesar&#39;s ghost WTH happened to that tab? I used to work with Diffuse Color/Strength, Glossiness, Specular Color/strength, Ambient Color/Strength, and Opacity. SPECIFICALLY Opacity as this would allow me to &quot;cut&quot; clothes, ground, even some walls. The modifications I could do with a body suit were nigh-limitless. The NEW, I&#39;m guessing LRAY, version of Surface Editor Tab is a nightmare brought forth to this material plane. I can&#39;t find anything in there that allows me to edit, modify, color, or do anything. There appear to be well over a hundred options hidden in drop down menu after drop down menu and I just have no idea what&#39;s going on there anymore. Can I please be pointed to a post / (Free) tutorial that tells me how to use my updated DAZ3D? Without somehow being able to interpret this new surface editor fully 90% of my DAZ experience is out the window.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hey, I currently am attempting to pose a G3F figure. Now I don&#39;t know how this happened, but whenever I specifically try to move the top of the right arm (right collar/right forearm), when I use one of the sliders (i.e. &quot;Bend&quot;), it also moves the other ones around as though the whole thing was linked. Bizarrely, this only happens on that specific area, not the left arm, or the legs, or anywhere else. Anyone have any idea what could have happened (and, more importantly, how to get rid of this, as I like having fine control over the way each body part moves)?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>When I executed script for the Brow Remover, I got this error message: &#39;libpng warning iCCP: known incorrect srbg profile&#39;. I used the brow remover anyway, and it removed the brows, but darkened the character&#39;s entire face! It&#39;s probably related to the error message, but I don&#39;t know what to do to fix the problem. I&#39;ve used the eyebrow remover in the past and didn&#39;t have a problem. What can I do to fix this?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I have to&nbsp;pick up a new laptop and want to get something with respectable DAZ Iray rendering capabilities. I&#39;m getting a little confused with the RTX options and was hoping someone could make a recommendation.</p>

<p>I have an nVidia GTX 1070 TI in my desktop but I&#39;m not sure how the laptop RTXs compare to that.</p>

<p>It looks like there are multiple&nbsp;versions. For example, I see 2070, 2070 Max Q, and it looks like 2070 Super Max is comiing. I&#39;d&nbsp;rather my laptop not run super hot when rendering, but I also want the performance to be good.</p>

<p>Also, from a price/performance standpoint, would a 2060, 2070 or 2080 be the most bang for the buck?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>This may not be possible at my skill set but here is my situation.&nbsp; I downloaded some free spaceship models in formats I know I can import into daz (OBJ, DAE or FBX). When some are these are imported in the only have one Material I can go an add shaders to which makes the whole object the same color which is not ideal especially for a spaceship.&nbsp;</p>

<p>My question is there a way or another program I can use to make different material zones for the spaceship so I can add different shaders to?&nbsp; Does anyone know of a tutorial that can walk through the steps to achieve this also?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I have a scene with just one G8F character and the render subD says &lt;?&gt;.&nbsp; If I move the dial by one it changes to 3 so I assume the &lt;?&gt; means 2.&nbsp;</p>

<p>At &lt;?&gt; the log says geometry usage of 63 MiB and texture memory usage of 1.14 GiB.&nbsp; I have a 4 GB GTX980 (I asssume Daz3D GiB means gigabyte).&nbsp; Iray renders in GPU with all 4GB VRAM used and is super fast finishes at 3 min exact.</p>

<p>If I dial the render subD by 1 to 3, the log says geometry memory usage of 669 MiB and drops to CPU due to out of VRAM.&nbsp; There is no record of texture memory usage.</p>

<p>I know subD goes by a factor of 4 but in this case geometry memory suage went up by 10x and I still don&#39;t know what total requirement is at subD3.</p>

<p>Also, regardless of GPU or CPU render I keep getteing this warning:</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Just found DAZ last night and did a fresh install. Never used 3d software before but was messing around with it. Saved a file and quit out of the application. Came back around today to find that DAZ is unable to open my files. So i did a re-install: no luck.</p>

<p>&quot;The Eyebrows are Diffuse Overlays and you can change the color to any color by changing the Diffuse Overlay Color.&quot;</p>

<p>I don&#39;t know what that means or where the control for it is. If anyone could help that would be great.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hello, everybody. I recently tried to import a character of mine from <strong>DAZ studio to Blender</strong> with the addon <strong>DaztoBlender8</strong>.<br />
I did it well, but - as expected - there are some materials to fix.<br />
I&#39;m not very good at nodes yet, but somehow I&#39;ve managed to fix more or less everything except hair.<br />
As you can see from the picture, it looks like the textures are somehow &quot;eaten away&quot;. I suspect that something needs to be fixed in the transparencies, but I have no idea where to put my hands.<br />
<br />
The hair are <strong>Heath hair for Genesis 3 Male&amp;Female </strong>and they are composed by 3 layer. Hair 1, Hair 2 and scalp.<br />
I think the problem is in Hair 2 and also the scalp gives me some problem.<br />
<br />
Can someone who know both <strong>DAZ and Blender</strong> give me a hand?<br />

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;m curious. G8 has a lower base resolution than V4/M4, but as you zoom in, extra mesh resolution is added.</p>

<p>How?</p>

<p>To add extra resolution without any extra information would just lead to a higher resolution mesh on the flat surface of the original facet. So, extra information must be added. Does anyone know, in a hand-wavey general sense, how this is done?</p>

<p>My initial thoughts are that there are three ways it could be done. The basic way could be a parametric surface description for each base resolution facet, with a function determining the deviation value for the new higher resolution facet based on U &amp; V parameters. The second is that there could be a fiendishly complex parametric equation for each body part, determining a surface whose mesh is updated as you zoom in. The third way of doing it could be to have a single parametric equation, and generate the base mesh in a stunningly clever manner so that each base facet deviates from the theoretical figure surface by the same proportions. This way, only a single parametric equation is needed for the whole figure.</p>

<p>I think the first option is the most likely, as the parametric equation for each facet could then be tweaked/modified by HD figures to give a more detailed figure without causing a complete re-build of the figure.</p>

<p>Does anyone have any idea, even in a hand-wavey, general overview way?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I made a morph to open the lid of a box.&nbsp; When I bring it into Daz3D, the morph works fine opening the lid except for the fact as the lid rotates the size of the lid (not the box) gets smaller and then as I reach 100% of the morph, the size returns to the correct size.&nbsp; I have made some morphs that open drawers and such and do not get this problem, therefore I suspect it has to do with the fact I am rotating rather than simply changing the horizontal position of a drawer.</p>

<p>How can I stop the morph from changing the size of lid while it goes from the 0 to 100 percent position?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hi,</p>

<p>I&#39;ve been working with the timeline to setup my scene for rendering different layouts of characters/poses within the one setting.</p>

<p>Basically I would setup Pose 1 on the timeline at 1 second, then move along to the next second and change the Pose for the second render in a different area with a different camera.</p>

<p>The problem I am having is that now when I go back into the scene and go back to the third pose on the third second, it&#39;s moving into pose 4 rather than being in the exact pose setup for pose 3.<br />
Sort of mashing them all together in a weird way.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>Is there any way that I can:</p>

<p>A.) Salvage my scene so that the poses are in the exact positions they were meant to be in for each key frame</p>

<p>or</p>

<p>B.) Setup the timeline so that I can use it this way rather than as a tool for animation.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>I don&#39;t really want to have to save/load a new file each time I want a different pose within the same setting.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I just realised that Ubersurface shaders are not iray!!!! I really thought that they were! No wonder I&#39;ve had problems. Can some one just confirm that this is right!&nbsp;</p>

<p>I think I know why I&#39;m confused. iray uber base. ???? Could someone just pull me out of the rabbit hole I feel stuck in?&nbsp;</p>

<p>What I&#39;m trying to do is add a dirt layer to an iray fabric shader that needs tiling 10 times to look good. But obviously I don&#39;t want my dirt layer tiled which rules out using even LIE. What I&#39;ve been doing is importing the maps into Photoshop and tiling them there, exporting and adding the dirt layer as LIE to save &nbsp;getting too many Base layers.&nbsp;</p>

<p>So does iray do multi layer shaders? I learend that if that &#39;Ambient&#39; layer is called &#39;Diffuse&#39; it&#39;s 3Delight &nbsp;and if it&#39;s &#39;Base&#39; then it&#39;s iray. My brain is now about to blow! :D</p>

<p>Oh, one last thing. Someone told me about tiling in iray using the Image editor but then that needs an extra layer, an extra slot for the dirt. I tried the Top Coat Color but it just wasn&#39;t strong enough an effect. &nbsp;I don&#39;t want to use 3Delight at all.&nbsp;</p>

<p>So, just to recap. I want to use iray.&nbsp;&nbsp;I&#39;m trying to save work, as we all do, but want my cloth material to look great. My shader needs tiling 10 times but I don&#39;t want my dust layer tiling. I&#39;m hapy to use PS if I have to but I want to be most efficient. I have a tendancy to get bogged down in detail and forget the big picture, which is what I am doing now. I get the irony. :)</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hi all.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Hope some of you can help, as I have tried everything in my limited knowledge, and have been searching forums for hours for easy to follow steps on how to move directories when HDD is full.</p>

<p>I, more or less, followed the steps in this link (changed some of the paths), but my content still wont show in smart content. It is in the content library, but not smart content. I have also tried to do a DB Maintanance and do a re-import of metadata, with not luck.&nbsp;</p>

<p>I have attached the overview of the paths set in Daz, and also the paths set in DIM before installation.</p>

<p>Please help, as it is so frustrating.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Somewhere in this dense maze of maven musings, I think I saw one or more people mention either software and/or online tools that can automagically create normal maps, bump maps, height maps, and/or displacement maps from a diffuse image. I know it can be done in Photoshop, and there are video tutorials for that, but what I&#39;m referring to was something (or some things) that create these items from the main texture image. (My nomenclature knowledge in this area is iffy at best, so consider these terms as approximations.)</p>

<p>I now can&#39;t find whatever I saw here, sometime, somewhere&mdash;even using&nbsp;the extraordinary state-of-the-art &quot;Search Forms&quot; tool. (I&#39;m very sorry if I made anyone spew their coffee all over their computer.)</p>

<p>Can anyone tell me what and where these tools are? And for bonus points, can anyone tell me if any of them work for a Mac user? Thanks.</p>

<p>I am not sure if this is the right section of the forum.. however, please look at the attached pictures.. It is an HDR environment setup. I am quite glad of how realistic it looks, apart from the shadow under the feet of the Yeti.</p>

<p>He seems to be suspended in the air. Of course by lowering him on the Y axis does not help. How would you solve it?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>The title pretty much says it, but I&#39;m hoping a real expert can settle this for me. I&#39;ve read in a number of places&mdash;and I cannot identify them to save my life&mdash;that use of a skydome precludes use of the built-in Sun-Sky, in Render Settings&gt;Environment,&nbsp;for lighting a scene inside that skydome.</p>

<p>I&#39;m trying to light objects inside such a skydome. It&#39;s an older product that was created for 3Delight. I&#39;ve applied the Uber Base to it all, and it shows up in the iRay preview just fine, but so far I cannot find any way to light the objects so the light mimics the setting &quot;sun&quot; that&#39;s in the image projected onto the skydome.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I am sure that in the past I have imported a DAZ prop exported as .OBJ into Vue and Poser. At present however, When I try to load it into Poser I get not a &#39;not .OBJ and in Vue it loads but the object doesn&#39;t show in the view window though it is listed in the scene contents. And while it is in the scene contents, it is locked and hidden and can&#39;t be unlocked or unhidden. Poser is the latest, and Vue is 2016 and the new Creator version - same results in both. Did something change along the way - tried several different export settings and get the obj, the mtl, and a maps folder, but they don&#39;t import. Any thoughts?&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Does anyone know if Tech Support exists? I have 4 support tickets that have been open for almost 5 days now pertaining to purchased content that will either not install due to errors, or missing files that do not allow products to function, either properly or at all!</p>

<p>I'm OK with free stuff that does not work, but when I have paid for a commercial product I expect it to work.</p>

<p>I absolutely love the software.....but a timely response would give me a better feeling than I have right now.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hello all,</p>

<p>Going to put my Daz Studio version up here so it&#39;s easy to find:<strong> BETA 4.12.1</strong></p>

<p>I&#39;ve been learning to export various elements that constitue a custom character (i.e. shader presets, shape presets, actors, and morph assets). It was going smooth until I saved off the shapes and character. For some reason only 1 would store on the Actor or Shape saves. I&#39;m hoping I&#39;m just doing something wrong and it isn&#39;t some sort of bug in my system because this is quite time consuming. Here is my process:</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>1) I applied morphs to the custom character, then saved an OBJ to later return via Morph Loader Pro as a slider. This worked perfectly.</p>

<p>2) I used Skin Builder to make some custom maps and then saved them off as shaders. This also worked perfectly.</p>

<p>3) I Saved my various morph sliders by saving them as Morph Assests and confirmed all 4 files exist in the &quot;artist&quot; folder I designated. Yes, they were set at 100% accordingly. Yes I made sure all the sliders were checked as part of the saving process. I&#39;ve even deleted the files and done it 3 additional times.</p>

<p>4) I saved off the character as a Character Asset. Yes, all morphs were at 100%.&nbsp;</p>

<p>When I load the character a single morph loads (quite possibly the most useless &quot;nipples&quot;). All the sliders still work, but I have to set them to 100% manually as the shapes presets don&#39;t work either.</p>

<p>I&#39;m new to doing this, but must say it seems quite the undertaking. Convenient when jumping between scenes to just drop a character and get going, but I can&#39;t say I&#39;ve had the pleasure of doing so because I haven&#39;t got it to work yet. LOL</p>

<p>Any tips/advice would be much appreciated because most documents I&#39;ve found apply to a different version than mine.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I have some .blend files that I would like to use in daz. They import fine and sometimes even work with the textures from blender, but what was several items in blender becomes a single item in daz. For example A house in blender with each furniture item, wall etc. seperate and able to move independantly not even parented, becomes one single object in daz and nothing can be moved or posed. When I go to work on textures though, Everything is seperate again. I export from blender as .obj and then import to daz.</p>
