Hi,

I just tried Commander Hair for Genesis 8 (). I like it very much, but I have a weird issue with it. On some darker figure skins you see some noise on the forehead of the figure. See attached pictures. (BTW. Can I somehow put an attached pic into the post?)

If you zoom in very much so you get the details, you see the effect during rendering but it disappears at the end of the rendering. But rendering time increase very much. If zoom out, so that you see about half of the figure (typical portrait), rendering is much quicker but the effect stays until the final render.

If you switch render mode to interactive, the noisy area becomes a dark green surface.

I played around with the material settings but to no avail. Any ideas?

Just purchased Highlands here at DAZ. Beautiful environment. But once loaded, my workflow slows to a crawl. Just selecting the forearm of a G8 model takes five seconds, with preview set to lit wireframe!. What can I do to speed up the workflow. Sure I can clothe and pose first then merge the scenes later, but I still have to adjust the characters' positions on uneven terrain. Even that takes a mind-numbingly long time.

I am running a good rig, Win 10, 4-Core i7 3.5Ghz, 32GB RAM, 1080TI, M.2 drive on the PCI bus.

If figure limits are enabled. Moves and rotations occur within the limits. For example. You pinned your foot. Lowering the pelvis, at a certain point, the thigh will stop bending as it reaches the limit. And the pinned foot will move.

What happens if you turn off the limits on all the bones? The same thing will happen. Lowering the pelvis, at a certain point, the thigh will stop bending. It will hit the limit of -115. According to the logic with the limits turned off, it should continue to bend.

Why is this necessary? Imagine that the character is in a sitting position with a barbell on his shoulders. In this case, the character's thigh is beyond the flexion limits. For example, -125. If we grab the pelvis and start lifting the character. On the thigh there will be a jerk to the limit set by the program -115. This will confuse the position of the foot.

I hope this will be fixed in future versions of the program. I apologize for my English.

I've seen alot of capes on the store. And I've bought most of them, because they look great and I have so many applications for them, but I have never been able to make them work, even with dForce simulation. There's always some kind of problem like, if the hands are inside the cape, the simulation will always clip through any nails or wrist accessories. And for some reason they are always glued to the bottom parts of the breasts on females, so no matter how I simulate it, it's like it's taped to the chest. This also seems to create a situation where I can't really "open" a cape unless it's designed from the start to be open. There are so many cases where I wish I could literally see the billions of vertices and just manually grab and move them into place. Or at least unglue the pieces that are stuck in place.

I should also note I've purchased one of the dForce tutorials here on the site to try and learn how to use it, but the presentation was so all over the place, I couldn't really absorb anything useful. Yet surely this isn't the case for everyone. There has to be something to it that just hasn't clicked yet. At one point while going through my wardrobe, randomly applying items to try and create a cohesive outfit, I came across the skirt from https://www.daz3d.com/school-girl-costume-set-for-genesis-8-females and while skirts tend to have a bit of issue with fitting for me, I noticed this one has a particular morph called "dForce Ready" which literally just opens the skirt all the way out, as if the person was standing on top of a big fan. And what this did, is whenever you did the simulation, because of this pose, it basically became 100% perfect no matter what shape or pose was in play. Because there's enough space for the skirt to properly fall over whatever surfaces are in the path of simulation. Yet with bigger and more complex things like capes, they always seem to be too snug or too restrictive to do this sort of sim preperation. And at that rate it seems like it would be more effective to go nuclear and just pull everything into blender and manually put it together correctly. But that's not something I am able to do yet. So surely there is some trick or something to making these capes work.

Smart content no longer shows G8F anything when I select the G8F model. Unclicking the Filter by Content shows my entire catalog. Clicking Filter by Content and all that is shown are generic animations, Shaders and Utilities. The problem is with G8F only. G3F still works fine for instance.

Under scene identification G8F appears properly entered with Preferred Base Genesis 8/Female. Clothing for G8F also shows Compatibility base Genesis 8/Female.

The problem occurred after installing an Exnem product. That supplier is usually excellent, so I don't think the error is there.

Tried rebooting to force a simple database restart. Have not done any database management procedures yet. There are numerous hand entered database entries that I am fearful of losing. As in numerous products from Renderosity that don't come in via the Daz install manager and thus need to be integrated into the database by hand.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

I really wanted this product for conversion to g3f, which I managed to work out pretty well, until the sleeve problem popped up. Going back to the origianl g8 version I found the same problem, even starting the simulation from memorized pose as instructed in the Read Me did not help. Any thoughts on the problem would be most appreciated.

The clothing items have very tall collars which stick up into the neck and heads effect zones. So if you turn the head or neck part of the collar stretchs out. See the attached image.

I've tried removing the weight maps for the bones from the head and neck from the clothing and that had no effect.

Hi,

Yesterday I made a single dial morph [SDM] added the icon and saved it. Then this morning realised I'd forgotten the two things I nearly always forget, the navel and Adam's Apple. I have at least made a SDM for those items, but I thought it makes sense to have all in together. But, can you save over an SDM? I tried making a third one but, that just links to two previous SDM's. Then I thought, I'll try copying and pasting the shape but that also copied the SDM. I tried deleting the SDM's but that reset the figure to G8M basic. I read somewhere on the forum that it's best to use a Shaping preset which is what I'd done yesterday first before making the SDM. Only problem is, after deleting the SDM, the first thing I did was to try the Shaping Preset I'd made but that didn't work. I have no clue why it didn't work.

So, what is the best course of action? Is there a way to 'unpick' a SDM. Obviously I can see all the dials when I click on Currently Used in the parameters pane, but how to remove the SDM's without resetting the dials it links to?

Edit:

BTW, I'd forgotten, I'd also saved him out as an Actor, a character preset. I loaded that, thinking, I'd have a 'clean' figure to work with but, when I looked, the SDM, the basic one, without the navel and Adam's Apple, was loaded in. I know that I definitely saved that character preset first which, is why I'd forgotton. My Daz crashed so many times in the last 24 hours. The first time I'd not even saved the file with the character. Luckily I did remember what I'd dialled in. So, why don't I make it again? Welll, yes, I could but I'm after knoweldge more than a shortcut. There will be another character and my cack-handedness won't have got any better.

Thanks.

I made some adjustments to a scene I had been working on for some time. The new scene just decides to crash once I move the frame pointer past frame 400, or, maybe just after a few movements in the interface, total freeze.

This happens on 4.12, and 4.11beta. It does not happen on the original scene.

Possible culprits:

Emissive lights?

New Camera?

I can't make out anything from the log.

Hello,

pardon me for being a novice. I have recently started to create my own textures and make up. Here I'm facing an issue and haven't found any related topic that'd help me out.

I have cteated some vector make up files in Affinity Photo & Designer that I'd save as png file with transparent background. As soon as I import the png in the surfaces tab using LIE

and new layer, the imported png file shows pixels. Those pixels are not visible on the png file itself or in the preview in Affinity software only in Daz studio. It has nothing to do with the zoom that is larger than 100%. All make up created by me is based on the face UV maps of G8 or V8. So the png file saved by me is of the same size as the face UV map. I'm using the latest Daz 4.12 version. Attached is a screen shot that shows those pixels in Daz studio. I don't know how to fix that. I had seen and have also purchased make up like this one https://www.daz3d.com/karyukai-maiko-for-genesis-8-females. It is also made with vector software, however, when I apply this make up files, they have no such pixels.

Thank you in advance for the help. If there was already a discussion with such topic, please link me to it.

I have Sci Fi Training Room. I like to use iRay shaders. I set a couple of surfaces as Daz Uber Base. These parts stayed alright initially, however, as soon as I turned on Emissive part of the shader, this happened (image).

What is this, and how do I fix it?

Things I've tried:

Resizing the texture

Adding a different shader (MEC4D's PBS Shaders)

Rendering with spot render, rather than iRay preview mode
