      <description><![CDATA[<p>I have a pair of goggles, and there is no preset material for them that I can use and manipulate in photoshop to apply.&nbsp; My next thought was to simply find and purchase a shader set here on the store that had a hypnotic spiral type pattern, and simply double click it after selecting the goggle&#39;s lenses, but could not find one.&nbsp; This got me wondering what program people use to make all these shader sets we see on here like latex shaders, gemstone shaders, fur shaders, nature shaders, brick and stonework shaders, and on and on, as they are not just materials since they can be applied to anything.&nbsp; So, my question here is, how do I go ahead and just make my own shader as needed, Iray, to be more specific?&nbsp; Is there something built into Daz that I use and purchase, do I need to have some third party 3d program like Zbrush or whatever, or any other possible ways that could be the answer that I am too ignorant to know.<br />

Having no degree or education in 3d modeling, it is possible that I am asking this question in a strange, uneducated way that could lead to confusion among the learned and educated on the subject.&nbsp; As such, I will update this OP if needed, to hone the question to get a more precise answer- and thank you!</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hey there, I&#39;ve been working on several bajillion different characters from movies, games and tv shows I like, but I&#39;ve constantly run into issues with certain models where I can&#39;t properly weight and rig outfits I&#39;ve imported into DAZ to the Genesis 8 figure.</p>

<p>Basically what happens is that when I convert these models to a figure and transfer weights to them from the Genesis 8 figure, they either disappear completely or are very distorted in appearance. I have noticed that it might be related to me needing to rescale and reposition them after the initial import, but aside from that I can&#39;t figure out the problem on my own.</p>

Try to send a ticket to the company but for the moment without answer.</p>

<p>It is typical.<br />
-It gives me an account or password error (they are well written and exceeds the minimum characters for the password)<br />
-I can connect perfectly to the forum and the web<br />
-Neither the antivirus nor the router are blocking it in any way</p>

<p>I upgraded to Daz Studio Version 4.12.&nbsp; I also just started to use the new Face Transfer app as well.&nbsp; Now on one of the renders I did, I have noticed that sometimes something peculiar happens with the eyes.&nbsp; They say a picture is worth a 1000 words, so please take a gander at the photo below:</p>

<p>If you notice the woman&#39;s eyes there is some kind of haze over them in which you cannot see the irises clearly.&nbsp; Her eyes are supposed to be a greenish blue. &nbsp; It seems to only happen when I do a Face Transfer and yet it doesn&#39;t happen all the time either.&nbsp; Sometimes changing the eyes out helps, sometimes it doesn&#39;t. Yes I have tried other faces and the same thing happens every now and then.&nbsp; I would like to know if anyone else experienced this issue and moreover, if there is a fix for it.</p>

<p>BTW, in case you are wondering, yes, that is Vanessa Williams.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I have bought this product:&nbsp;<a rel="nofollow" href="https://www.daz3d.com/highlands">https://www.daz3d.com/highlands</a>. I have seen it in some very nice images lately and wanted to give it a whirl myself.</p>

<p>When I load up the Environment into my viewport, the whole program is extremely sluggish when zooming, panning, and turning the camera. This is even before I have enabled IRay. So, it is almost impossible to get the cameras, lighting, and figures set up how I want.</p>

<p>Does anyone know if there is a way to speed this up? Scaling the environment down maybe? I&#39;m stuck.&nbsp;</p>

<p>I&#39;ve just done reinstall and after all the hassle of getting everything working as normal again, I think I ran into a problem.</p>

<p>The rendering history box no longer mentions the GPU processing the scene (it is mentioned in to troubleshooting log, so I guess something was changed in how things are reported) and the taskmanager doesn&#39;t show Daz utilizing the GPU. The latter is what I&#39;m worried about.</p>

<p>It may have always been like that and I just have a case of reinstall anxiety.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;ve started running some experiments to better understand Iray, in particular, the <em>Emission</em> settings in the <em>Surfaces</em> tab. I am puzzled because Luminance setting does not seem to be working the way it should in a physics based system when I switch between lumens and cd/cm^2. I&#39;m hoping someone can tell me what I&#39;m doing wrong, whether I&#39;m making some incorrect assumptions, ot my math is wrong, or something else. Technical nuts and bolts seemed like the right forum.</p>

<p>To start, I set up a scene with a sphere (8 cm diameter) as my light source. I set the <em>Environment Mode</em> to <em>Scene Only</em>, so the sphere will be the only source of light. I also add a box around the to simulate having walls on all sides to reflect light back (the set did not come with 4 walls).&nbsp;</p>

<p>I want the sphere to simulate a 100 watt light bulb, so on it&#39;s surface I set the <em>Luminence Units</em> to lm (lumens) and the <em>Luminance</em> value to 1600. That matches the value indicated on the packaging on a light bulb I&#39;m looking at now, but I could get the same result by setting the <em>Luminence</em> to 100 W (watts) with a <em>Luminous Efficacy</em> of 16 lm/W.</p>

<p>To use reasonable camera settings for poor indoor lighting (a single 100 W lightbulb), I go to the <em>Tone Mapping</em> tab of the <em>Render Settings</em> and set the <em>Exposure Value</em> to 5.70. I acheive this by setting <em>F/Stop</em> to 1.8 and a <em>Shutter Speed (1/x)</em> of 16, but it turns out it doesn&#39;t matter which combination I use as long as I arrive at the same EV.</p>

<p>Now I want to understand how the cd/cm^2 units work. the cd stands for cadlepower, so to convert lumens to candlepower I divide 1600 by 12.57 to get 127.287. The surface area of my sphere is 4&pi; 4^2 or 201.06 cm^2. So to get my value Luminence it&#39;s&nbsp;127.287/201.06 to get 0.633&nbsp;cd/cm^2. I put that value in and set my units to&nbsp;cd/cm^2 and I should get the same amount of light, but instead I get this:</p>

<p>When I save a project as a scene, only a part of the keyframes are saved. Keyframes in the &quot;Other&quot; cathegory (or in the &quot;value&quot; cathegory from Keymate Tab) are not saved for some reason.</p>

<p>I&#39;ve load an old scene and all the keyframes are there so it&#39;s not a loading problem.</p>

<p>I&#39;ve tried many solution, even uninstalling and installing again but it doesn&#39;t solve the problem.</p>

<p>Has any of you ever encountered that problem?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hi. I&#39;m approaching this problem from a D-Former perspective because that&#39;s the tool I&#39;m most familiar with for a task like this. I know some will recommend Mesh Grabber instead, but I already tried it and couldn&#39;t get it to come close. I don&#39;t even get how it&#39;s supposed to work... but D-Former, I grasp. (Generally.)</p>

<p>But sometimes I wish I understood how to fine-tune the mesh points to be influnced. In the current project, the figure wears two sets of pants: Sword of Time and War Dog. In the latter, all the polygons except belt loops and pockets were deleted. I need to pull each cargo pocket away from the leg just a bit. But if I reduce the Y and Z scales of the field enough so that no part of the rear pockets or belt loops are also affected, the remaining selection is largely yellow. I want the entire cargo pocket equally red so that it&#39;s all uniformly affected by the D-Former. I know there&#39;s a way to do this, but I can&#39;t find details either on YouTube or in the forums. What I do find in the forums is that any discussion of Weight Mapping (which I think is how this trick works) almost immediately goes over my head. I don&#39;t understand the vocabulary. So please... talk to me like I&#39;m four.&nbsp; :)<br />
<br />
Oh and btw if I simply reset the collision item, the cargo pockets distort in undesirable ways and I&#39;m still left with the dilemma because some vertices need to be pulled closer to the figure.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>It takes a long time to begin rendering a big scene (e.g, a scene of over 8 GB in size).</p>

<p>How do you speed up this process?&nbsp; More RAM? Multiple graphics cards?&nbsp; Often my computer will seem to freeze at this stage of loading the scene.&nbsp; I feel like i wait as long for the scene to load as i do for it to render.</p>

<p>Specs:</p>

<p>RTX 2080TI</p>

<p>16GB Ram</p>

<p>Ryzen 3 1300x (4 Cores - 3500 MHz)</p>

<p>On a side note, I was wondering can I use my laptop to help run my PC at all while rendering?</p>

<p>iray preview takes 30 or so seconds to preview until I repose, and a single figure with no environments take 5-10 mins. Some more complex renders have take 2= hours and leads to a very hot mac.</p>

<p>What paricular features&nbsp;should I be looking for to reduce preview and rendering times, with Mac or Windows.</p>

<p>My budget is not unlimited within $2000-$3000.&nbsp;</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p><span>heya! I am noticing something quite disturbing and am wondering if anyone has ever encountered this error as I am unable to find a solved case online. So for some reason every mixamo fbx I try to import to Daz (from today) doesn&#39;t work. I get an import/loading window for a second and then it disappears. I tried importing fbx files from two days ago (and earlier) and they seem to be importing fine. I also tried doing this on another computer and am getting the same issues. Have there been some sort of updates to mixamo that I dont know about? Also checked the Daz log file and there are no issuess on there from what I can tell.</span></p>

<p>I would like you to give me your opinion, I will explain the situation:<br />
-I&#39;m making a video game.<br />
-I don&#39;t know anything about 3d or edition.<br />
-I want a solution as easy and complete as possible to mainly develop static character portraits in 3d (such as in Crusader King or Imperator Rome, example: <a href="https://i.redd.it/1ynu0su6l6t21.png" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">https://i.redd.it/1ynu0su6l6t21.png</a>)</p>

<p>At the moment my conclusions are the following, I would like to hear yours:<br />
-Character Creator 3: complete. expensive extras store. possibility of animations the day you are interested. it requires some skill to wear things (like clothes) not designed directly for character creator. Beards seem to be a problem (it would be great if they worked as an add-on)<br />
-Daz 3d: It has a good quality too. animations cannot be made but the things in the store are really cheaper.<br />
-Others: I have ruled out adobe fuse because it seems quite abandoned and limited. I have also ruled out UMA for similar reasons (and because I don&#39;t know if the final project will be in unity or own engine) but things for Unity in 3d stores are really cheap :(</p>

<p>And speaking of stores, I have found many, sketchfab (it seems the most famous), I see that from them I can download things, but usually they are for Unity or Unreal.<br />
Is it a good idea to purchase these designs for use in Character Creator 3, Daz 3d, or others? Where will they give me less work to implement them? Should all work?</p>

<p>And those are my conclusions and questions after a couple of days researching on a subject that I know nothing about and are probably wrong, any detailed and instructive opinion is welcome.</p>

<p>I have some issues with the rendering of some scenes. When I use some models, like Murphy HD, my renderings leave many blank pixels. I joined a jpeg file to show you the result.<br />
I&#39;ve tried to modify the render settings, but it didn&#39;t change anything (probably I didn&#39;t modify the right settings...)<br />

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Greetings.&nbsp;&nbsp; I&#39;m running Daz 4.12.1.115 build on an i9 processor with a 2tb ssd and an RTX 2060 GPU with 6 Gb Vram.</p>

<p>It seemed to happen fairly quickly, but I noticed that both the base G8F and all the many purchased G8F characters were taking extremely long to download.&nbsp;&nbsp; The base G8F takes about 30 minutes to download, and a saved scene with more than, say, 4 G8Fs would take literally several hours to download. &nbsp;&nbsp; However, all other figures, environments, props, content, etc. loaded in fairly reasonable time.</p>

<p>I get errors when the G8F figures finally load indicating that duplicate formulas were found, to check to make sure installed properly and check the log (see attached).&nbsp;&nbsp; I then got a second error message the genesis8female.dsf file could not be found it the location indicated in the attached image (I went ahead and copied the original .dsf file and put it in that location also, but it still indicates it is not there).</p>

<p>Finally, I downloaded the log.&nbsp;&nbsp; I saw, literally, thousands of WARNING messages all tied to Auto Face Enhancer I installed, pointing to this location (see a small portion of the log attached):</p>

<p>data&gt;Daz 3D&gt;genesis 8&gt;female&gt;morphs&gt;D.Master&gt;Auto Face Enhancer</p>

<p>I&#39;m fairly sure the propblem is AFE installed.&nbsp;&nbsp; If it means I can simply uninstall it and have G8Fs load in reasonable time, I&#39;d like to do that - if that is in fact the issue.</p>

<p>Does anyone know a good fix for this.&nbsp; What needs to be done to uninstall AFE?&nbsp;&nbsp; Thanks in advance.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;m trying to render a relatively simple scene (G8F, 3 spotlights, minimal background objects) and I&#39;m getting this weird thing where the GPU is only intermittently used.&nbsp; It will use it for a bit, then drop to 0% usage, then back to 99%, and back and forth.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>Has anyone else seen this/know how to fix it?&nbsp; It&#39;s not using anywhere close to the max GPU memory, so I don&#39;t know why it would stop like that.&nbsp; I have an RTX 2080 (8GB memory) with updated drivers (445.87) and&nbsp;Daz 4.12.1.</p>

<p>Just downloaded Reality 4.3. All went OK on manual download. However, when clicking Reality Installer the following error file appears &quot;file /private/var/folders/v1/t_ms46tn1b39jyq8rzf1shkh0000gn/T/AppTranslocation/819B59B3-7DE1-449A-B9D0-03206CB4D59B/d/RealityInstaller.cfg&quot;</p>

<p>I suspect the issue is with the Reality Installer.cfg file cotained in the downloaded folder.I did try to import RealityInstaller.cfg viat network settoing but am unable to select it.</p>

<p>Anybody have any ideas on how to resolve this issue?</p>

<p>I also did try to add a primitive sphere to let it collide, but it ignores all. I checked also already the weightmap, everything is red, so there is no changes there. In the Surface is the surface visible for Simulaiton.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;m trying to do a render with a plane that is emitting light with a texture applied to the plane. I have set Cast Shadow to Off, but it still casts a shadow in the render. If I turn the item to invisible in render, then it no longer emits any light. I&#39;m using Iray. Is there any help for this? I used to use planes all the time to provide something for reflective objects to reflect, but if the plane casts a shadow, then it&#39;s no longer of any use to me.&nbsp;</p>
