      <title>DS (Not Responding) when Loading Assets</title>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hey guys, any idea&nbsp;what may be causing DS to go through a period of (Not Responding) while loading Assets?</p>

<p>It&#39;s a problem that I used to see every once and a while and now has gotten to the point where absolutely every time I load anything that involves&nbsp;a G8 Figure (Store Bought G8 Figure, Saved Scene Subset G8 Figure or Saved Scene that has a G8 Figure of any kind) into even an empty Viewport having just opened DS after probably also Restarting my Computer, no matter what it starts to load Assets, gets about 1/5 of the way through the progress bar, then freezes and says (Not Responding) for maybe 30 seconds to a Minute.</p>

<p>Not the end of the world, just wondering if there&#39;s anything I can look into to possibly remedy the problem. My System is nothing special, but it&nbsp;never did&nbsp;this at all until&nbsp;a handful of months ago.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>Windows 10 / DS 4.12.117 Pro Ed&nbsp;(64-bit)</p>

<p>Intel Quad Core i7-6700 / 3.4 GHz</p>

<p>16 GB DDR4 System Ram</p>

<p>Windows and DS on one&nbsp;SSD / All DS Content&nbsp;on separate dedicated internal SATA SSD</p>

<p>Don&#39;t think the GPU would come into play, but:</p>

<p>RTX 2060s 8 GB / Studio Driver 442.92</p>

<p>As far as Security Software, I only use Windows Defender and I&#39;ve tried turning everything under &quot;Virus &amp; Threat Protection&quot; Off, still acts exactly the same way...</p>

<p>When I load a base G8F or G8M I have noticed in the log that morphs are being loaded that are not part of the character. For example:</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;m currently rendering on an Yoga Lenovo i7 laptop and I&#39;m going to murder it if I keep pushing it the way I am.&nbsp; Since I&#39;m finally getting the hang of DAZ and want to do a lot more, preferably in a lot less time, it&#39;s time for me to make an investment.&nbsp; I sure would appreciate some advice from you pros out there on what kind of system/specs I should be looking at.&nbsp; Right now, I&#39;m looking at an&nbsp;ALIENWARE AURORA RYZEN&trade; EDITION R10 with the following specs:</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;m gotten used to making and posing Genesis 2 figures but, recently, I&#39;ve been interested in posing models from video games. XNALara seems like a nifty system but I&#39;m more comfy using DAZ, and it seems there has to be some &quot;middleman&quot; like Blender to do some trick with textures before importing to Studio. Is there some way to just give these humanoid shapes a skeleton of joints to pose like any of the Genesis figures? How exactly would one go about importing and posing these characters?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;ve researched this topic thinking there would be a good tutorial somewhere, but after an hour of searching, I&#39;m hoping someone here can give me a simple direction.</p>

<p>I&#39;m attempting to recreate historically famous paintings in DAZ, that includes some nudes.&nbsp;&nbsp; Some of the genesis generation characters come with their own Iray genitalia materials, but most don&#39;t. &nbsp; Trying to apply gen mats from one character to another is a hit-or-miss, and never quite right without additional adjustments, and even then, it&#39;s not spot on.</p>

<p>I&#39;ve read that using the torso surfaces and applying to the gens works is how to do it, but I&#39;ve been unsuccess in applying them to the anatomical elements.&nbsp; My process I&#39;ve been following:</p>

<p>- Highlight gen character in Scene window =&gt; Open Surfaces pane =&gt; highlight character =&gt; Surfaces =&gt; highlight (only) torso =&gt; right click =&gt; &quot;Copy Selected Surfaces(s)&quot;</p>

<p>- Highlight gens =&gt; Open Surfaces pane =&gt; highlight gens =&gt; right click =&gt; &quot;Paste Selected Surface(s)&quot;</p>

<p>But nothing happens, the gens remains white.&nbsp;&nbsp; Is there a process for doing this I&#39;m missing?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hey everyone,&nbsp;</p>

<p>I am very new to DAZ Studio and downloaded it last weekend. I&#39;ve just been playing around and buying a bunch of ready-made models for me to play around with and I was wondering if anyone can help me out with something.&nbsp;</p>

<p>When I bought the models <a rel="nofollow" href="https://www.daz3d.com/dain-8">Dain 8&nbsp;</a>&nbsp;and <a rel="nofollow" href="https://www.daz3d.com/michael-7-for-michael-8">Michael 7&nbsp;</a>, I somehow managed to have both of them&nbsp;apply to my existing Genesis 8 Male figure I have been working on. Not sure how or what it&#39;s called but it&#39;s really helped out with morphing it with the right balance (Having a little bit of Dain and Michael in varying levels of the head/face and the body build.)&nbsp; You can see a bit of it in the screenshot (Screenshot 1)&nbsp;</p>

<p>Now, I am wanting to get a third figure in the mix, <a rel="nofollow" href="https://www.daz3d.com/scott-6">Scott 6 (</a>mainly because I do prefer his body sculpt more) but still wanting to keep my progress with the model that I just did (Dain + Michael morph).&nbsp;So I was just wondering,<strong>&nbsp;how do I add a Scott 6 body morph slider within my existing model?</strong> Is this something that&#39;s possible? I wasn&#39;t quite sure how to ask as I am not sure what the feature/technique is called.&nbsp;</p>

<p>When I import some obj files, extra facets are added in the texture shaded and rendered modes, making the object unusable</p>

<p>The facets are not in the model</p>

<p>The facets do not show up in wireframe</p>

<p>The model in the image is of a camera lens</p>

<p>The model was made as a NURBS model</p>

<p>I tried making the polygonal mesh in a couple different software, Rhino and Max, and at different setting (they look fine in those applications and between them)</p>

<p>For sure a Daz Studio bug</p>

<p>Anyone have a fix for this?</p>

I can use this to morph my G2F figure into a legacy shape, like Victoria 4.&nbsp; However, it doesn&#39;t come with a legacy T-pose.&nbsp; Where can I find this legacy T-pose?</p>

<p>I tried adjusting the pose myself, but the arms and legs don&#39;t match up perfectly.&nbsp; Any suggestions on getting a G2F figure into a V4 figure T-pose?</p>

<p>So I ventured into the world of animation.&nbsp; And I wanted to make an object appear and disappear in the timeline.&nbsp; I will admit, that my knowledge of the timeline/animation function is still limited.&nbsp; So, going forward, is it possible to make objects fade in and fade out in the timeline?&nbsp; I tried using the opacity function at different keyframes, but it doesn&#39;t seem to be working...</p>

<p>Will I need to buy AniMate2?&nbsp; KeyMate or GraphMate in order to have this function happen?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;m asking on behalf of a friend who has this problem. I&#39;ve made some suggestions with no luck.</p>

<p>He says - <em>&quot;I have a strange and mildly anoying issue in Studio. When I open the program for the first time I have the File--&gt;New option available in the dropdown menu.<br />
But after that, even if I save the file I&#39;m currently working on, the option is always greyed out.&quot;</em></p>

<p>He says he has had to create an empty scene and load that as the &quot;new&quot; option doesn&#39;t show in the drop-down menu. He has the same version of DS on another computer which he says works fine.</p>

<p>He&#39;s an experienced DS used and this problem has him (and me) flummoxed.. Any suggestions?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;m getting real tired of reinstalling DAZ. Installed it the fist time when My new PV shown up wednessday, then I had to delete everthing and reinstall it on Saturday because It wasnt letting me save my renders and kept crashing, Now I have to un install it and reinstall it again because even though I put the Download manager on my D Drive, it took the liberty of putting DAZ on my C drive, and I cant do anything because I have no disc space on that drive anymore...[/rant]</p>

<p>How do i make Download manager stop putting Daz&nbsp;on my C drive, and put it on my D drive(where it was suposed to be) this time?</p>

<p>It&nbsp;never really gives me any options, It just downloads and installs it without asking where I want it.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>This current file i have been working on since&nbsp;morning and i have saved and open many times before however since&nbsp;the last save which i close DS&nbsp;2 hours ago, the file will not load properly and doesn&#39;t show up on the viewport, instead it gives (not responding) for nearly an hour&nbsp;when loading that saved file.</p>

<p>My other files loads just fine and it only affects my latest work.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Ok, I apologise if this has been covered in other threads, and I&#39;ll try not to make this too long. I have just got a new computer, and am wanting to install DS 4.12 onto it along with my content (and existing characters/scenes if possible). So, I d/l Daz Central and Studio 4.12 yesterday, and begin downloading my content via Daz Central. All seems ok until it becomes clear multiple files are missing for G2 and G3 figures (the &quot;actors&quot;), so something is wrong anyway. I think I should have installed via DIM but I didn&#39;t</p>

<p>I guess I should have thought of this before, but the bigger problem is that my new computer has a 128gb SSD and a 1Tb HDD. I have started with d/l DS to the SSD and had planned to put content on the HDD, but its clear that even this way, with my other other programs the SSD will soon fill up. Therefore my new plan is to completely uninstall and reinstall ALL Daz Studio and content on to the HDD - in other words D Drive. But this isn&#39;t simple</p>

<p>1) I can&#39;t uninstall DAZ Studio as there is no uninstaller - where is it, and if there isn&#39;t one how do you uninstall? I don&#39;t really want to do a System Restore, even thought with a new computer it won&#39;t be the end of the world. So I&#39;m stuck here at the moment with a partially working 4.12 that I can&#39;t uninstall</p>

<p>2) Assuming I can clean uninstall, what is the best way to reinstall DS to get best result? Is it via DIM or is it manual? If its via DIM, I see there are other threads showing how to change the paths from the default C: to the new drive, but is there anything else that needs to be done for a new install on a different (in this case :D) drive?</p>

<p>3) Having done all that, and assuming all DAZ content is then d/l and installed via the DIM, what is the best way to move 3rd party and poser content from &quot;My Library&quot; to the new computer - do I simply copy on a storage device and transfer it across - if I do this will DS recognise and find the files ok? I understand that saved scenes and characters may not work, it would be nice if they did but again its not the end of the world</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I am not sure what I might have done to bring this on, but I seem to be unable to import anything into Daz without all the materials being set to Iray. Objects that I have made with 3d Delight materials are now all importing with Iray setting, and even if I set them all back to normal and export, they will return in Iray the next time.</p>

<p>If anyone can tell me what setting I may have accidentally triggered, I would appreciate it.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;ve been having really great luck converting &amp; exporting via FBX for furred, LAMH animals until I tried an older one with the European Grey Squirrel,or rather the Rodent Polymorph.&nbsp; The end result is the base figure isn&#39;t fitting to the fur items and I can&#39;t really see what&#39;s particularly different with it.&nbsp; It seems to be some sort of morph or transformation issue though. Figure is zero posed with the exception of the Jaw opened 1/2 range.</p>

<p>I DS, I&#39;ve tried every combo of baking, memorizing, etc. but doesn&#39;t seen to have any affect.&nbsp; Not having proper docs for the process of course doesn&#39;t help.&nbsp; Hoping someone might know what I&#39;m missing here.</p>

<p>If I remove all the fur objects &amp; just export the squirrel w/ same settings, it seems to come in correctly.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I just bought Q Suit, which says dForce - however any time I try to use dforce I get the error message &quot;Error preparing Object to simulate&quot;.&nbsp; This happens with trying to animate along timeline or to current frame.</p>

<p>I&#39;ve added dforce modifier: dynamic surface to each clothing object.&nbsp;</p>

<p>What am I doing wrong?&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hello, so I have a MSI lap top with a GTX 1080 GPU and was thinking&nbsp;about either getting a second one or upgading to a RTX 2080.</p>

<p>I find the 1080 is fast enough for out door scenes with up to 5 characters and a combination of HDRI and spot lighting but for enclosed indoor lighting it dose&nbsp;slow down quite a bit.</p>

<p>I guess my question would be&nbsp;the cost vs performance of&nbsp;two 1080&#39;s or the one 1080 plus a 2080?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I would like to go into file browser and restructure some of my DS files. So my question is am I going to break anything by doing this?&nbsp; I mainly use the Content Library but I do use Smart Content on occasion.</p>

<p>I know this question has been addressed before but when I search its for older versions and I want to make sure im not going to mess anything up in the current version.&nbsp; I know not to mess with scripts and such, it will mainly be for better organization of clothing and for items that wasn&#39;t placed in folders properly to began with (or maybe they were that way in older versions I don&#39;t know for sure).</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>OK, basically i&#39;m following a tutorial on creating ghost lighting. Everthing is going as it should except for one thing. With my enviroment set to scene only and my large ghost light just above the figure, in Nvidia Iray mode everything remains black, but if I render the image it shows the figure lit correctly lit. How can I get to see the image in Nvidia Iray going back and forth to render to make adjustments eventually causes the program crash.</p>

<p>i installed a lot freebies from Sharecg, Renderosity, Deviantart with the content wizard.</p>

<p>After a while i had a look in the my daz studio library folder and detected that the content wizard has installed lot of files on the wrong place.</p>

<p>See an example in the attachment.</p>

<p>The files are not installed in My DAZ Studio Library \ People or \data ...<br />
They are installed in My DAZ Studio Library \ Productname \ People, runtime, data ...</p>

<p>how can i correct this and how can i correct the wrong installe files.<br />
At the most files they seem to be in the WRONG AND IN THE RIGHT directory.<br />
That&#39;s strange too.<br />

<p>what can i do and how do i use this tool correct?<br />
Must be the path in the zip file be changed?<br />

What is the correct path that must be in the zip-files?</p>

<p>Of course the SmartContent does not work here too</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>So many characters that have long, pointed ears built in screw up hair that is fitted to the figure - grow the ear, and the hair follows them out. This is not natural. Either characters need to separate the ear morphs from the rest of the head, or there needs to be a way to override it in the deformation of the hair. I&#39;ve tried Sickleyield&#39;s Hair and Hat helper, but the ear morph controls in it aren&#39;t sufficient to return the hair to the head without peaking back along the ears or pressing the sides inside the character&#39;s head.. Any other suggestions?</p>

<p>My 4k monitor&nbsp;does not work with DAZ, because it has no settings for DPI. I find this interesting because DAZ is a graphical product. Is this something DAZ is working to fix?</p>

<p>It&#39;s hard to work when you&#39;re using a magnifying glass to see text, or you are viewing text like it&#39;s from a 90&#39;s video game.</p>
