      <description><![CDATA[<p>The viewport view controls/mouse shortcuts suddenly no longer function, I click them but cannot adjust the camera view other than via the Posing or Parameter sliders.</p>

<p>Tried setting back to default but no luck.</p>

<p>I&#39;m getting by with the Posing &amp; Parameter sliders but no idea why the view controls &amp; mouse shortcuts are not working.</p>

<p>Anyone else run into this?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Recently upgraded laptops, having trouble getting Daz Studio 4.12.1&nbsp;to render with the GPU. It&#39;s an RTX 2060, currently using driver version 431.70.</p>

<p>Was rendering fine on CPU, switched to GPU only in Daz Studio, now the renders come up empty, like a blank checkerboard.</p>

<p>Only thing I can find in the log that stuck out: &quot;IRAY rend error: Cannot render: found no usable devices.&quot;</p>

<p>Any assistance or advice would be greatly appreciated!</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Please take a look at the attached figures. One, &quot;Scene Origin at (0,0,0).png&quot; shows a null at the scene orgin as indicated when it is selected by the universal tool.&nbsp; The other, &quot;Null Origin at (0,0,0).png&quot; shows a null at the origin of an object as indicated by the universal tool. They are not in the same place. The object-origin null is actually at (0,13.41,0). In the parameters pane, both their positions all show to be (0,0,0) according to the translation sliders. The universal tool was set to &quot;Use World Coordinates&quot; for both.</p>

<p>I want the object to be sitting on the scene origin and showing position (0,0,0) rather than (0,-13.41,0) as it does now if I move it to the scene origin visually.</p>

<p>I simply cannot figure this out. I have tried everything and anything. Searched the forums searched the web have used DeltaX15&#39;s move origin script, mCasual&#39;s mcjZeroOrigin, mcjZeroOriginMod, and mcjChangeOrientation. I&#39;ve exported the object as an obj and a fbx and reimported it, Still the same. The object is actually at&nbsp;(0,13.41,0) but it thinks that it is at (0,0,0). The bone editor for the object has the green arrows aligned with the object correctly. I actually deleted the object, and kept both nulls, save the scene with just the two nulls in it, quit Daz Studio (4.12.0.86), restarted it , and reloaded the scene with the two nulls. No change.</p>

<p>I&#39;m completely baffled after 4 hours + of putzing around with it.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Under the surface tab in Daz studio there is an entry for a normal map. For a given surface one can assign a map -- a 3-band image that conforms to the UV map for the surface. Beside the square where a map can be assigned, there is a parameter slider that defaults to lie between 0 and 1.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Q: in Daz Studio does that slider have any effect? If so, what is it?</p>

<p>In Studio, if a surface has an associated normal map, that map is a 3-band image that (I think) represents the direction of a surface normal at each point of the surface. Please correct me if I am wrong about that. In general 3D geometry, a surface normal is a direction, a unit vector defined by direction cosines with respect to some coordinate system (e.g. world, object, camera). There is no magnitude associated with a surface normal; if (x,y,z) is [the direction of] a normal vector at location (u,v) and n &gt; 0 is a real number then vector (nx,ny,nz) has exactly the same direction as (x,y,z). n, if greater than zero, has no effect. In Studio, n would be defined by the position of the parameter slider. Based on that I would conclude that the position of the parameter slider has no effect whatsoever on the result.&nbsp;But, Daz might use that slider for something other than scaling the normal. Do you know if it does and if so what that is?</p>

<p>I have no doubt that this question has been asked and answered before in these forums. I spent quite a bit of time searching for the answer&nbsp;but could not find it. Since DAZ, in general, does not provide&nbsp;detailed documentation for its products but leaves it up to us to figure it out then share help on the forum, and since the search engine associated with this forum is very limited in capability, searching for the answer to such a narrowly focussed question is like finding the proverbial needle in a haystack. So please forgive me if the answer already exists. Feel free to point me to it if know exactly where it is.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Stop disconnecting my manual downloads. At the moment, I can&#39;t complete a single download without having to click &quot;retry&quot;. Do I have to install some obnoxious download manager just to get what I paid for? Not talking about the DAZ built-in manager, that works fine. These are manual downloads, no other choice, and it is very frustrating and a horrible user experience to have to watch every single download to make sure it is still connected. This doesn&#39;t happen when I download from, say, the Unity site, the Micrsoft site, or&nbsp; a whole bunch of other 3rd party software sites. Just your website.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Good day all,</p>

<p>Hoping someone may have an idea on this. I&#39;m currently building a solution for that allows me to use Daz Characters and clothing for some mocap work.</p>

<p>I&#39;m needing the ability to export the clothing as separate files, but whenever I do export the clothes, the bones no longer line up. (figure on the right is the original, figure on the left is the fbx exported and immediately reimported to confirm issue lies in exporting).</p>

<p>I&#39;ve included my export settings for the clothes. Is there a way to have the model keep the bones orientation that it has before importing?</p>

In the promo images, there are several in which the hair in the back is sort of up, or at least isn&#39;t hanging down the neck and back (see the attached image). How is that acheived? I&#39;ve tried all the morphs, I&#39;ve tried opacity settings, I&#39;ve tried everything I can think of. Can anyone help?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Is Download manager gone? because installing my entire catalog using DAZCentral of things I purchased over the years was a long and tedious process now. also, There was a lot of stuff missing. like when I tried opening an old project frome last year that&nbsp;I had saved on my cloud, I had to let it install two programs that SHOULD have been in my library on DAZCentral, but clearly werent...</p>

<p>I would rather use Download manager if thats still possible. I really just need the install tool, not the whole Daz store on my computer...</p>

<p>By going to Install Manager, I can see that the Plugin is located on my HD at:</p>

<p><strong>/data/DAZ 3D/Genesis 8/Male/Morphs/EmmaAndJordi/EJ Face Morphs And Details/</strong>NAME<strong>.dsf&nbsp;</strong></p>

<p>And indeed it is. However, I cannot duplicate that exact path in my <strong>Content Library</strong> tab, and can&#39;t find the plugin. I <strong>DO </strong>see the &quot;Zero Out&quot; features in the <strong>Smart Content</strong>&nbsp;tab (which I discovered by chance) when in the <strong>Actors, Wardrobe &amp; Props</strong> pane. And I can also track them down via the <strong>Content Library</strong> tab.</p>

<p>But I ask again, <strong>where </strong>is my <strong>EJ Face Morphs Plugin</strong>? How do I access its features??</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>In my sadistic quest to slowly tourture my 7 year old computer to death, I have recently switched from Poser to Daz. And while I&#39;ve found Daz to be much more intinutive, I&#39;m having an issue getting reflections to show up. I used&nbsp;<a rel="nofollow" href="https://www.daz3d.com/real-paints-iray">Real Paints Iray</a>&nbsp;from the Daz Store, the stock shader setting. This render only got to 51% convergience before my 9 hour render time expired. But even still. there&#39;s no reflections at all.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The truck has some shiny on it from the lights, but no reflections. Is there some setting I need to turn on?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hello everybody,</p>

<p>I am quite new to Daz but digging deeper and deeper into its functions. I have a lot of fun with it but there is one problem I&#39;m encountering regularly that I just cannot solve myself - even though I&#39;m sure the solution is pretty simple. Maybe somebody here can help a newbie out!</p>

<p>So, let&#39;s say I want to create a render of a dress hanging over a chair. As of now I select a (dforce compatible) dress, pose it over the chair, add a dynamic surface, run a simulation and... let&#39;s try to be funny and say the results are mixed :D. With most items, the skirt and flounce fall dynamically as expected but everything above the waistline just remains in position, leaving a weird &quot;half-dynamic&quot; dress hanging in the air.</p>

<p>I know I&#39;m missing something here - but what?</p>

<p>Any help would be much appreciated! :)</p>

<p>I reinstalled the G2 male starter essential pack and it changed nothing. I uninstalled all the G2 male characters I&#39;ve bought here the past month. No change.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>DIM started failing because it was importing to a cloud folder that I had no clue even existed.&nbsp; Changed that and it worked until I tried to change the locations of stored data.&nbsp; DIM completely shut down again and so I removed all DAZ products to try a clean reinstall.&nbsp; Nothing has worked since.&nbsp; Has anyone gone through this and what did you do?&nbsp; I still have an old product library and am worried that DIM is seeing it and refusing to acknowledge it (only a theory).&nbsp; I saw DazCentral and tried to use it but it won&#39;t even acknowledge my password so I never could get into it.&nbsp; Deleted it and am now gonna try DIM again... This all started in FEBRUARY and to say the least I am frustrated.</p>

<p>My questions:</p>

<p>Should I just install DAZ Studio and go without DIM or DazCentral?</p>

<p>Should I keep trying DIM even though it just crashes and if so does anyone know why its crashing?&nbsp; I have reset everything to default so there should be no issues.&nbsp; Firewall is not an issue and neither is the MSCloud that screwed things up in the first place.&nbsp; Should I unplug the backups that have the old downloads so DIM doesnt see them?&nbsp; I am really at my wits end and that wasn&#39;t a long walk in the first place.&nbsp; I just want to get back to working.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Something seems to have happened to my CMS. When I load a Genesis 8 Female figure and switch to Smart Content, the menu in the top left corner of the Smart Content pane doesn&#39;t display the expected &#39;Female&#39; (with a pull-down list of G8F figures). Instead, it reads &#39;GC Statue&#39;. Moreover, instead of displaying all content related to Genesis 8 Female (I have &#39;Filter by Context&#39; checked), it displays a limited set of unrelated content items.</p>

<p>My guess is that the CMS is organized by product ID and that somehow there&#39;s a clash between the ID for this &#39;GC Statue&#39; -- whatever that is -- and &#39;Genesis 8 Female&#39; that has caused &#39;GC Statue&#39; to overwrite the root of the content hierarchy for &#39;Genesis 8 Female&#39;. I&#39;ve seen something similar happen once before when I used RiverSoft&#39;s Content Wizard to import products from Renderosity. However, as far as I can remember, I haven&#39;t imported anything that way recently.</p>

<p>Is there an easy way to restore things to the way they should be? I&#39;m currently trying to reimport all the metadata for installed content in DIM (which is taking a loooooooong time because I spend far too much money at DAZ), but if that doesn&#39;t work then I may be forced to restore an earlier version of the CMS database from backup.</p>

<p>And does anyone know what &#39;GC Statue&#39; might be? No amount of searching has turned up a product named anything like that anywhere in my product libraries.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>What does it mean if some of my installed items in DIM are greyed out? (Many of which are the items from my earliest months with Daz Studio.)</p>

<p>I will note that I have several hundred items in Smart Content that always show up in &quot;Lost &amp; Found&quot; (and have always done so since I began with DS) so I have long suspected some kind of metadata issue. Possibly some were accidently installed via Daz Connect before I really knew what I was doing, but I have cleaned out the Daz Connect folders since then.</p>

<p>Should I &quot;reinstall&quot; all of the greyed out items in DIM?</p>

<p>Or is there some way to just force the metadata to update without reinstalling?</p>

<p>I do have I think all of the older installation ZIPs from DIM installs archived on a portable hard drive that I could hook up if needed.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Over time I have used two different email accounts when logging in and ordering things. Sort of lost one and just made a new one. I&#39;ve since figured out the old one. Poser never seemed to care as long as it was in the right folders.</p>

<p>Within DAZStudio 4.12 I can&#39;t see or install content from the other email login. Took a minute to figure out why things I just bought weren&#39;t there or &quot;available&quot;. When I installed the program it was under one email.</p>

<p>Can I just manually install everything in the runtime folder instead of the way DS likes to stick folders everywhere?&nbsp;</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I have no idea what is causing this, but it&#39;s getting kind of annoying.&nbsp;</p>

<p>I am finding that certain figures (a tentacle kit I bought) are working just fine when loaded, posed and the rest, but the moment I re-load it to work on it some more, I find that each segment has stretched from it&#39;s zeroed position to where it is. Screenshots attached.</p>

<p>Not sure if it&#39;s related, but some other free figures have stopped loading. They have texture and all that. but are totally invisible.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I have a new problem with Dforce - if I have an asset that errors during a simulation I have to quit Daz and restart to be able to try again with but noiw for some reason Daz itself wont even restart without rebooting the machine. Anyone else experience this or have a suggestion?</p>

<p>Running Daz 4.12.1.117 on Windows 10 - latest Nvidia driver 446.14.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Finishing up a project. I am texturing in SP and everything looks good. When I go to export, using Ray Ray config, SP will not export Glossiness or Diffuse. Anyone have this problem before? I have not encountered it before now, (most of my problems in the past have been with my meshes not SP issues).</p>

<p>I have submitted a bug report to SP.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>It&#39;s back! (if it was ever really away)</p>

<p>I&#39;ve seen others post before about an error where every time you try to add a figure, DAZ Studio reads all its morphs and gets confused if it sees duplicates pointing to the same place (or something). And I&#39;ve read reports of it taking up to a half hour. In my case, it&#39;s more like 3 minutes for Genesis 8 Female, but that&#39;s still absurdly long and agonizing when you&#39;re trying to work with multiple figures or create the appearance of even a small crowd.</p>

<p>(Screenshots attached, as I couldn&#39;t get posting images to work.)</p>

<p>1) What the error looks like after I try to load a figure. It thinks about it for about three minutes, then gives me this.</p>

<p>Searching the log file, here are the mentions of duplicate formulas:</p>

<p>Now what I normally get from previous threads along these lines is: just delete whatever character or morph is causing the problem. Which kind of sucks if you planned on using the character or morph in question, but for troubleshooting purposes, OK, let&#39;s try it.</p>

<p>So I grudgingly uninstalled Talizi and Daphne, or so I thought. I used DIM to uninstall Daphne (from the DAZ Store), and deleted the files for Talizi (from the Renderosity store).</p>

<p>Now,</p>

<p>2) Talizi appears to be gone from G8F, but,</p>

<p>3) Daphne for Olympia is still here, even though</p>

<p>4) I uninstalled her?</p>

<p>EDIT: And the error is still in place. Still spins for 3 minutes before finally bonking at me and giving me my figure.</p>

<p>Seems like this should be an easy fix I&#39;m missing one obvious noob step for, and I just somehow missed it reading about everyone else who has repeatedly run into this problem. Please advise.</p>
