      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;m trying to create drops of water on the floor in Iray, under a character who&#39;d working our heavily. Any hints as to the best way to achieve that? My problem right now is in two areas;</p>

<p>1) The pattern of drops&nbsp;and small puddle shapes.&nbsp;I&#39;ve got some liquid splash and puddle products I could use but they&#39;re not really right so it looks like I might be better off creating my own. Can I possibly do it by creating a pattern for an opacity map that I apply to a plane or flattened-out cube primitive?</p>

<p>2) Getting the water shader on the drops and puddles to be visible in the scene. The surface is a light wood floor in a room that&#39;s fairly well-lit. Will I have an easier chance if I dial down the room&#39;s light level for more contrast from the reflections on the water?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hi, this week I updated my Daz Studio version from 4.10 to 4.12. Unfortunately, when I render a scene in DS version 4.12, it has jagged edges. I did a test: I rendered the exact same scene with exactly the same render settings in version 4.10 and 4.12. (In &#39;Filtering&#39;, the Pixel Filter is &quot;Gaussian&quot; and the Pixel Filter Radius is 1.50.) Here you can see the render results: <a rel="nofollow" href="https://sta.sh/223b9q73ei0n?edit=1">https://sta.sh/223b9q73ei0n?edit=1</a>&nbsp;. If you look at these images, you can see the difference, especially when you zoom in on the mouth and the right ear. What settings do I have to change in version 4.12 to obtain the same results as in version 4.10? Any tip or assistance would be much appreciated.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;m trying to restore victoria 8 and 2 after deleting the data directories.&nbsp; &nbsp; Basically I simply want to start over as when I do uninstall and reinstall right now it does the same thing, installs *some* of the characters, but not all.&nbsp; &nbsp;Going to essential doesn&#39;t seem to work.&nbsp; &nbsp;</p>

<p>Is there a trick to do a complete fresh install?&nbsp; &nbsp;I just unstalled on central then deleted the actual directories.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>When I start Daz Studio, an&nbsp;empty scene comes up. Then when I load the Genesis 8 female character, it is not in its zeroed, stock shape. Instead, morphs from other G8F characters, that I had used in the past are applied to the base character.&nbsp; This occurs not only with all directly loadable characters, but also characters that are applied to a preloaded base G8F. What is causing this behavior? Is it to be expected?&nbsp; That is, is this a bug or ist it a feature?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Yesterday I opened up Daz and started working like I always do, built a scene and merged one of my characters into it, put the charater into a pose, and the hands and feet were all messed up.&nbsp; It happened once before so I selected all the bones in the feet and hands and hit the adjust rigging to shape, but it did nothing. I zeroed out my character and started to manually move the fingers and toes around, and they moved but it was all distorted. I tried character after character and everyone of them did the same(all gen 8 models female,&nbsp; all Daz exclusive HD). I tried limits on, off. Tried adjusting rigging to shape. Then I thought maybe a file got corupted or something so I re-downloaded all the essentials packets that came with Daz and nothing changed. Scrapped everything and started building my characters once again from scratch. Finished one (Nora gen 8),&nbsp; started moveing the toes and fingers around and everything looked good. Put the character in a couple of boxed poses and good as well. Saved as a scene subset like I have done before, and started building all my other characters. Built a scene, and merged my Nora model in and the exact same thing happened again. I put the character in a pose and the hands and feet got terribly distorted. Tried it with other characters and they all distorted as well. The Gen8 male seems to be fine. It&#39;s not just the pose because when I move the fingers and toes without a boxed pose, they distort the same way. The other thing that was different was the eyelashes and eybrows were not in the right place when I merged them into the scene. The eyelashes were in the middle of the pupil and the eybrows were high on the forhead. I can&#39;t remember what it was called but in the peramiters tab I had to switch it to Follow transoms or something like that, and they moved into place. Never had to do that before. I have been trying everything I can think of for the last&nbsp; 16 hours and I don&#39;t even know what to try anymore. I re-downloaded everything in my download manager(I assume Daz 4.12pro) was part of that and same situation. Build a character, works fine, save it to scene subset or even Actor and when I merge it back into a scene, the feet and hands are deformed. Any help would be a Godsend at this point.&nbsp;</p>

<p>My figure is&nbsp;<span>laying flat on the ground. I just want to shut his mouth with some tapes :)</span></p>

<p>So when I create a primitive of 10cm and 50 Division, add dforce modifier-dynamic to the plane and drop it above the face of my figure, press simulate, woot it&#39;s working.</p>

<p>But now create a primitive 10cm,50 div, add dforce-dynamic to it, place it just above the face of my figure, but now,&nbsp;scaling the plane (smaller) and press simulate, the plane flies all over the screen, it is not dropping.</p>

<p>I&#39;ve tried a couple of times now. Any ideas?</p>

I have InstaEdit and Instances to Objects if need be.&nbsp; I do have Blender but know very little about it.</p>

<p>How do I permanently change Figure Metrics units to inches and get the order in order of number (i.e. how it was before the recent update)? I&#39;ve tried to modify the G8Female json and to reanme it to a configuration but the changes don&#39;t appear. Figure Metrics works, I just need to change units each time and can&#39;t see hoe to reorder the parameters.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I purchased the Greylien character (Daz Originals) and opened it in Daz Studio 4.12.&nbsp; The eyes should be completely black, but there is a white circle surrounding the pupil area. (See attached picture.)&nbsp; I cannot get rid of these white circles in the eyes.&nbsp; What could be causing this?&nbsp; How do I correct it?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>When I am loading just the G8F I get all these warnings in&nbsp; my log file of missing morphs,.. why would DS even be looking for these when loading a simple G8? I do own these morphs and they are installed, I just don&#39;t know why they are being called if I am not using that particular character.&nbsp;I would think these morphs would only be referenced if I was loading the character they required?&nbsp; Also it takes over 4 minutes just to load the G8F, is this normal ?&nbsp; I have copied the section from my log file showing what DS is looking for, if anyone can tell me if there is something I can do to stop DS from looking for these when loading G8 I appreciate any help.</p>

      <title>Threadripper for IRAY or RTX?</title>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>So i&#39;m looking to build a new system in a few months to do some really heavy G8 IRAY animations for a game that I am making and i&#39;m trying to get the most performance that I can for as little money as possible. Right now I have a Ryzen 3 1200 with a GTX 960 and I cant get the GPU to render anything unless I strip the scene down using a scene optimiser, if I render just the characters in the scene though I have found that my CPU absolutely dominates my GPU on render times. So that leaves me wondering if I should spend $1,000 on an RTX 2070 SLI config plus another $700 or more on something like a Ryzen 9 3900X or just drop in a single card like a 2060 and jump straight into something like a Threadripper 3970X with 32-64GB of RAM. Anyone have any experience on which one would win in render times? Both setups are able to be built for around the same cost if im careful of sales and such. I just havent been able to find anything on CPU rendering in IRAY on purpose let alone a Threadripper vs RTX comparison.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>It&#39;s been a while since I upgraded to <strong>version 4.12</strong>.<br />
I had sometimes noticed some freezes and crashes in my Iray renderings, but I hadn&#39;t worried, thinking these bugs would be fixed soon. Then I stopped using DAZ for a while, for lack of time. But I&#39;m back today. And so are the crashes.</p>

<p>Some of my scenes<strong> always crash with Iray rendering</strong>. The interface doesn&#39;t respond anymore, then the mouse gets stuck, leaving only the hard reset solution. From what I&#39;ve read on several forums, I&#39;m not the only one.</p>

<p>These scenes can contain anything, it&#39;s not a particular asset, it&#39;s more like when you go over a limit: two characters, their clothes, an environment. In the end, it&#39;s not much, on a 2 years old computer with 16 GB of RAM and a Nvidia graphics card with 4 GB more.</p>

<p>More worryingly, the old scenes, which worked very well before, crash as well. Most of them.</p>

<p>I know what some of you will say:<br />
you should update your video card driver, your OS, blah blah blah.<br />
I&#39;ve been a developer for 25 years, I know all that. And I also know that it doesn&#39;t usually solve... anything.</p>

<p>Really, I&#39;m exasperated. So I gave myself a simple, basic test. I finally <strong>found an old version 4.11</strong> to download, and I did it. By the way, I find it absurd that DAZ doesn&#39;t offer its old versions for download. Let&#39;s move on.</p>

<p>So I have 2 versions on my computer,<strong> the official 4.12, and an old 4.11</strong>. And guess what? All the scenes that crash violently on 4.12 will pass without any problem on 4.11!</p>

<p>So my problem isn&#39;t my computer, isn&#39;t my video card, isn&#39;t my OS, isn&#39;t my assets, it&#39;s DAZ 4.12. <strong>And that&#39;s Ockam razor telling me</strong>.</p>

<p><br />
So I&#39;d like to ask DAZ two things:</p>

<ul>
	<li>Make <strong>available for download old --stable-- versions</strong> on your site. It&#39;s frustrating to be completely blocked by bugs and not be able to go back.</li>
	<li><strong>Fix the performance problems, memory leaks and crashes</strong>, which are numerous (did I really need a fourth way to download my assets, knowing that I could already do it manually, with DIM or with Daz Connect?).</li>
</ul>

<p>Why would I spend so much money on assets if I can&#39;t even render them?</p>

<p>I like Studio. Well, to be precise, I like what I do with it, but I like less and less the time I waste in an obscure user interface, with non-existent documentation, and renderings that strain my nerves.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hello everyone!</p>

<p>I think i found an issue with the alembic exporter (version 1.0.2.118)</p>

<p>I am searching for a way to export my figures (Genesis 3 with HD details) to 3DS max 2016 without any success for almost a year. Now i tried the alembic exporter and it seems to work fine when i check the &quot;Preserve SubDivision Surfaces&quot; checkbox on the export window. But again... problems. This time its the UV mapping. I have attached two screen shots. All two do not use any special materials of 3ds Max. Just a Standard material and a Checker as diffuse source. One image is a FBX export with working UVs but with horrible resolution (SubD modifies would not show HD details or have issues with teeth) and the other is the alembic exportet image. I&#39;m sure you can see what i mean by looking at these. I am rendering with V-Ray 3.40. Do you have any idea what i can do to fix the UVs?</p>

<p>What i tried so far:</p>

	<li>Googling</li>
	<li>Using the original textures as diffues</li>
	<li>Using a way more complex skin shader with diffuse-,bump- and specular maps</li>
	<li>Unchecking the &quot;Preserve SubDivision Surfaces&quot; checkbox. But then i am not ably to apply any material at all except eye brows and teeth. everything renders black</li>
	<li>Using different modifies and convertions to editable poly/mesh in 3ds Max</li>
	<li>Tried rendering in V-Ray 3.20 instead of 3.40</li>
	<li>Tried a different pose</li>
	<li>Checked for software updates</li>
</ul>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>So I just switched from a mac to a windows desktop, and right before I got the new desktop on hand I found out when I click export I couldn&#39;t find the option of (.abc), it doesn&#39;t work when I reinstall the add on nor the whole application,&nbsp;but it does appear when I&#39;ve reinstalled it on my windows desktop, so I just go with it, but today the option disappears again, I couldn&#39;t find the answer anywhere, anyone has experienced the same? And It will so much helpful and appreciated if anyone knows how to slove that!&nbsp;</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hey guys &#39;n&#39; gals, I admit my ignorance of the more technical aspects of Daz but I&#39;m learning.</p>

<p>I have a big scene featuring about seven characters, a detailed set, lights, etc. Now, I knew I wouldn&#39;t be able to render this as is but, in the past I&#39;ve built large scenes - saved - and then removed figures in alternating chunks to render. That way I would have multiple renders I could stitch together in Photoshop later.</p>

<p>But this scene won&#39;t even load. Daz goes through the motions, loading the pieces, but always crashes before populating the scene.</p>

<p>I&#39;ve attached the log.</p>

<p>Is there anything I can do outside of Daz to get this to load? Or do I just have to (gulp) start over?</p>

<p>Thanks to anyone willing to offer advice and help me troubleshoot!</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p><span><span>I bought the </span><a rel="nofollow" href="https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-bristol-hair-for-genesis-8"><span>Bristol</span></a><span> hair today, and while working with it on some characters, I noticed that while it renders perfectly in Iray, if I set the viewport to Iray rendering, it only shows the hair cap. The cap colors change if I play with those, but the strands don&#39;t show up.&nbsp;</span></span></p>

<p><span><span>I have other dForce/Iray hair, and this is the first time I&#39;ve seen behavior like this. Is this specific to the Bristol hair itself? It isn&#39;t some massive problem if it&#39;s <em>only </em>in viewport rendering, but I just want to be sure it&#39;s not indicative of some other issues I should be aware of. Also, I do get the same behavior when I switch from GPU to CPU rendering, and both photoreal/interactive modes are set to CUDA cores. No other isssues with GPU rendering an any other environments (I ran a short job from Houdini through Redshift and it&#39;s fine)</span></span></p>

<p>Edit: Ugh, never mind. There&#39;s literally a &quot;Preview Render On&quot; button that I didn&#39;t notice. For my next trick, I&#39;ll attempt to tie some velcro shoes.&nbsp;</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I still primarily use V4, most of the time without Trouble, but when I mirror a pose using the Symmetry tool the arms just flail about, scrambled.</p>

<p>It does not matter if I am at world Center, if Vicki is the only asset in the frame, and if I &quot;Bake Transforms&quot; or not; I have to admit I&#39;ve never noticed anything that would indicate that actually happened. No Message, not change in parameters I have noticed; but it hardly matters. I usually Go Root/Recursive/Mirror Y/Z Rotations, but not always. Mirroring or leaving trunk nodes alone does not seem to help. Selecting everything but the Arms, then doing the Arms does not seem to help. I&#39;ve read a good many strings in these forums on the Symmetry tool; but not found the key to my problem.&nbsp;</p>

<p>&nbsp;So just asking for idea&#39;s from anyone with experiance with Vicki 4, in creating Mirrored poses. I expect I am getting something simple wrong but its damn frustrating. I do still use DAZ 4.7 as I do not work in IRAY; but as the symmetrize.dse was written in 2014,&nbsp; I dont believe thats my issue.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I have a GeForce GTX 960M, Intel i7-6700HQ CPU with 16 GB RAM, Windows 10 Home. GeForce driver is current 398.36. GPU tested with DXDiag and no problems noted.</p>

<p>Attempting to do an Iray render with just GPU selected under Render Settings / Advanced / Hardware the render last under 3 seconds and a null&nbsp;render produced. If CPU &amp; GPU selected render is performed with 100% CPU and 0% GPU.</p>

<p>Anyone have an idea how to get the GPU to work.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I was looking at a render someone did of the new&nbsp;<span>Catherine HD for Genesis 8 Female(s) and noticed something odd.</span></p>

<p><span>The iris on the models left eye looks to be twice the size of the right eye. So&nbsp;I was going to contact them to let them know they may have messed up a setting somewhere. But lo and behlold I checked the promo pics of the asset and what do I see&nbsp;but:</span></p>

<p>Now I am a huge fan of the artists involved in this asset and was considering picking it up. But the oversized iris concerns me. Can&nbsp;anyone who has this figure confirm for me whether it is a bug in the model ?</p>

<p>I would normally just log a ticket straight to CS but in the present environment I cannot afford&nbsp; to buy a potentally bugged model and await a refund if I go down that path.</p>

<p>Any feedback appreciated.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hi everyone. Hoping one of you Daz masters have the solution. So I have had no problem deleting lashes, switching to base resolution, exporting to Zbrush with GoZ, sculpting the Genesis 8 base mesh in Zbrush and I can even export the morph from Zbrush to Daz with GoZ. The morph loads into the open DaZ instance and works with no problems. The morph slider works and everything seems to have transfered fine. But when I either load a new genesis 8 or restart the program my morph is GONE. My ambition to create characters has screeched to a discouraging halt due to this problem and it&#39;s beyond frustrating. Any help would be so very appreciated!!! -Jett</p>
