      <description><![CDATA[<p>Like a lot of people, I&#39;ve started to notice that my G8 characters and scenes are taking forever to load so I started uninstalling some morphs I no longer use. However, even after I&#39;ve removed ~75 characters, I haven&#39;t noticed any speed increase when loading my scene files, so I was wondering whether the old morphs are still saved in the project files? If so, is there anything I can do to clean up the files (i.e., remove no longer installed morphs)?</p>

<p>Daz studio that is.&nbsp; I submitted a ticket about this, but I thought I would ask here as well in case someone else has encountered this.</p>

<p>I&#39;m having trouble opening the program periodically. As an example, this morning I opened Daz studio and worked on a scene for a bit. I closed the program, then tried to reopened it. Clicking on the icon from my start menu did nothing. Trying to open it from Daz Central did nothing. Opening the EXE directly did nothing. I tried running the EXE in admin mode and was told I need elevated privileges to open the software. What? Then, after clicking on the icon several dozen more times from daz central, the program finally opened.&nbsp;How does that even make sense? Anyone else had this happen - know what is going on here?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I opened a ticket with DAZ weeks ago, and haven&#39;t heard back.&nbsp; Perhaps someone here can help.</p>

<p>I purchased i3d Valery&#39;s iv casual posses and when I go to use any of the poses I get an error, &quot;An error occured while reading the file, see log files for more details.&quot;</p>

<p>Here&#39;s what the log file says:</p>

<p>In Smart Content, the icons all show the frame with the triangle-!.&nbsp; In Content Library, the icons appear as they should, however, trying to apply them I get the same error, and the log file says:</p>

<p>Here&#39;s what I&#39;ve tried with no results:</p>

	<li>deleted the product directory from my content library, manually re-installed</li>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Lately I&#39;ve completely deleted DAZ and redownloaded it through Daz Central to start fresh&nbsp;and now I&#39;m having trouble loading in characters I saved as&nbsp;scene subsets.&nbsp; The morph set in question is the SY 200 free morphs by SickleYield and even though they are present in the side bar, when I try to load in my custom characters, I get this message saying that they couldn&#39;t find the related sliders.&nbsp; Is there a way I can tell Daz where they are - similar to how you can locate textures if those go missing?<br />

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hi. I need to export my figure in FBX format in a certain static pose. But no matter which export settings I use the figure&#39;s arms and legs start moving into a pose I didn&#39;t create and exports in this new pose. What settings or what do I need to do so the pose doesn&#39;t move? By the way the pose I want to keep it quite simple, a modified A-pose but as I export her arms move straight down and her legs apart so it makes no sense.</p>

<p>I normally export in OBJ for this very reason that I always have issues exporting FBX but I have a client that needs FBX file. This is a bit urgent and I can&#39;t find any posts or youtube that actually have a simple or straight forward solution.</p>

<p>This is something that happens every time I update DAZ, and I&#39;m wondering if there&#39;s a faster way.&nbsp; I create content (though I&#39;m not a DAZ artist).&nbsp; Every time I update DAZ, my content files lose their cute little tags that say &quot;Wearable&quot;, or &quot;Actor&quot;, or whatever the case may be.&nbsp; So I have to go into the content DB editor for each product and tell it AGAIN what the product type, category, audience, etc all are.&nbsp; This is incredibly annoying.&nbsp; Updates aren&#39;t the only time this happens by the way, it happens if for instance I decide to move a folder or a .duf file from one place to another as I organize the product and make changes.</p>

<p>There HAS to be a better way.&nbsp; Any ideas?</p>

<p>Sorry if this question has been asked before.</p>

<p>I&#39;m relatively new to the dForce ecosystem, but not too much on the dynamic aspect of clothings.<br />
I&#39;m working with a pair of panties that are dForce. Loaded in a scene I move them and place them so that the hip part hangs from the chair and let the simulation do it&#39;s job in curving the rest down.</p>

<p>Only problem is that both hips parts remain stiff like a board while the rest simulate accordingly.<br />
I did check in the surface about the Dynamics Strenght setting and it all set to 1 on all surfaces. It feels like there is a single hard point in the mesh that doesn&#39;t allow the cloth to fully flex or bent. It&#39;s like there is an invisible force holding it in shape and up.</p>

<p>Any idea what that could be?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;m trying to do something very simple, create a background plane in Hexagon and then apply an image to the plane in Daz. The goal is to create background scenes for renders. I import the plane into Daz and apply the image by selecting the plane then SURFACES tab, set the DIFFUSE OVERLAY WEIGHT to 1, and then select my background image using DIFFUSE OVERLAY COLOR. The attached image shows my plane in Daz and the background image renders which is the image on the right. <strong>MY PROBLEM</strong>: In Daz, the plane remains blank. I want the background texture to display so I can see what I am doing. It renders OK but I don&#39;t want the background plane to be blank. How can I make it display? Thanks</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>When I go to check out, I get a &quot;Shopping Cart is Empty&quot; message, but when I&#39;m on the store page for the item I want to buy, it&#39;s shown as in my cart. I opened a new browser to see if it was just a cookie issue, but after logging in with the new browser, I have the same situation.       <description><![CDATA[<p>Hello! So I may be pushing&nbsp;what Daz can reasonably do, but I currently have a scene with 30+ figures, though not all the body parts are visible for all of them. In fact, about 25 of my figures are just the head (and saying that I now realize how my scene may sound like the French Revolution...). Most of them can be static as well since the majority of them are set dressing. I&#39;ve managed to load all the figures into a scene, but the viewport is a bit chugging and I still have to morph the figures so they&#39;re not all the default genesis 8 models.&nbsp;<br />
Do you guys perhaps have any ideas or methods for handling this type of thing? Thanks</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hello lovely folks - not going to lie I am tearing my hair out here.<br />
<br />
About a week ago, Daz Studio suddenly began dropping from GPU to CPU during scene rendering - ok fair enough it was a complex scene with a lot of bounce lighting so I thought nothing of it at first, then realised it was inconsistently doing so on all renders, no matter what was in the scene.<br />
<br />
I used an old, moderately low complexity scene that I have rendered absolutely fine over the last&nbsp;year, on a regular basis, on this card, as my main test scene. It uses about 1/4 of the available GPU memory, so well under any thresholds.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
On first load, it will, usually, render to about 150 iterations on GPU then drop to CPU</p>

<p>On second render attempt it will, usually,&nbsp;just generate a native CPU code and render to that only.</p>

<p>- Unless it doesn&#39;t, in which case it renders the scene out on the GPU to well over 1000 iterations without a hiccup.<br />
<br />
I then tested it on a complex scene of four Genesis 8 figures with clothing and props,&nbsp;which more or less maxed out the dedicated GPU memory, which it rendered to around 800 iterations without a problem. Literally not one burp, worked like a charm on the GPU.<br />
I also tested it on a&nbsp;single untextured primitive sphere with default lighting&nbsp;- it rendered this fine three times, then dropped it to CPU on the fourth around 100 iterations.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
If I untick the &quot;Allow CPU Fallback&quot; option&nbsp;in the advanced parameters tab, it either cycles endlessly on the &#39;preparing scene&#39; for Iray preview or simply refuses to render - either flipping to a black render or the checkerbox blank scene background as soon as it has finished calculating the scene.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
I have both installed the latest version of Daz and the latest version of the Nvidia drivers.<br />
Then rolled back to Nvidia Driver 441.66 (I can&#39;t try version 430.86 as it tells me its incompatible with my system)<br />
<br />
Absolutely no change.<br />
<br />
The GPU temperature is fine and sitting in a moderate range, even when the card does kick in, so I know it&#39;s not a temperature issue on the card that&#39;s causing it to drop to CPU.&nbsp;<br />
I&#39;ve ramped up the GPU&nbsp;fan speed, just to check,&nbsp;then dropped it back to default. The card is on default settings and not overclocked in any way.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
I am running Windows 10 with a GTX 1080ti 11gb Nvidia Card - displays are run by the integrated Intel&nbsp;&nbsp;- Daz is set to use the Nvidia and can see it, and when it decides to render on the card, does so well and quickly.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
Daz version 4.12.1.118 Pro 64 bit, Nvidia 441.66<br />
<br />
I&#39;m saving the scene, and restarting Daz before rendering (and not touching anything, like flipping to Iray preview - literally load and render). Again, absolutely inconsistent as to whether or not it makes any difference - the complex scene rendered without a hitch even though I&#39;d been fiddling around in it beforehand.<br />
<br />
The GPU is not accreting a memory load - so it&#39;s not stacking up until it&#39;s full and then dropping out - it&#39;s just either&nbsp;rendering to the GPU quite happily, or then simply refusing to, or dropping after starting.<br />
<br />
I&#39;ve turned off every additional filter option I can find (Firefly, etc)&nbsp;<br />
<br />
I&#39;ve tried it at 100 quality and 1. Average image size is 1000 x 1000 px<br />
<br />
Heck I even took the sides off Merlin and cleaned him out! (There was an embarrassing amount of dust in there, but I&#39;ve seen worse.)&nbsp;<br />
<br />
Still no change.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
It&#39;s the absolute inconsistency of this and the fact that I can&#39;t get a single change of parameters to do anything other than &#39;no change to random drop&#39; or &#39;not render at all in Iray&#39; that&#39;s really bugging me!&nbsp;<br />
<br />
As a last question, is there somewhere I can download an older version of Daz please, as that&#39;s the only thing I can think of that I haven&#39;t been able to try.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
If anyone has had similar experiences or has an answer, I&#39;d love to know what I&#39;m doing wrong! Card failure? (All diagnostics say it&#39;s fine) Windows update? Planetary misalignment? Failed to make the right ritual offerings?&nbsp;<br />

I&#39;ve relentlessly searched the forum, but I am still rather new and I so a lot of jargon blows past me. I read that if I took my character off the ground that would help. I was also told to try 3delight, but when I did, the render looked like garbage, just saying. Nvida iray is great, i just need the shadow off the ground.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Something got corrupted in my directory structure and I&#39;m trying to figure out how to fix it.&nbsp; When I see something like a figure and double-click on it to load it, I get a message saying the file couldn&#39;t be found.&nbsp; Sometimes, I can then right-click and select &quot;Open file location&quot; and it will open an Explorer window and I can select the figure&#39;s duf file from there.&nbsp; How can I fix things so I don&#39;t get the error message?&nbsp; It obviously has the correct file location (in this instance) so why can&#39;t it find the file in the first place?&nbsp; Once I manually load the file, why doesn&#39;t it remember where it was for the next time?</p>

<p>On other figures, I get the not found message then try to browse to the file location but Studio doesn&#39;t know where it is so I&#39;m then stuck.&nbsp;</p>

<p>It&#39;s not just figures I&#39;m having issues with but pretty much any type of object.&nbsp; On some things it has the icon file correct but can&#39;t find the associated obect files.&nbsp; In other cases, it can&#39;t even display the icon file.</p>

<p>How can I fix things so Studio knows where everything is?</p>

<p>I&#39;ve tried to uninstall and delete everything and re-install but it doesn&#39;t seem to help.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>(I thought I had posted this before, but it seems something went wrong)</p>

<p>I am using a MSI GF63 8rd Lap Top in the past it could render using the video card which is aNividia Geforce GTX 1050 TI with Max-Q Design on windows 10. I am using the curren beta version of Daz studio and it seems that it is not even trying to use the GPU. I have been rendering with Iray&nbsp;since 4.9 (I believe) and am familiar with out of memory problems and how to enable the GPU to render in the software. I have read the log and there seems to be no attempt to use the gpu and there are no errors related to the gpu. I have tried complex scenes and simple scenes.</p>

<p>I believe the problem has to do with it being a laptop, but I could be wrong. Many laptops like mine, allow you to chose which gpu a program uses. I have choosen that gpu in the NVida control panel, but maybe I need to change it somewhere else too.</p>

<p>In summarry I think I need to know how to make sure the laptop is allowing DazStudio access to the nvidia gpu, but there could be something I am missing regarding daz studio. Please help.</p>

<p>P.S. the view port iray seems to use my GPU at 10% to 30% according to hardware monitor</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hi, I played with a table I got, it have a fabric over it and I wanted to make holes in it, but then I saw it let pieces there... even if I did hide the Geometry.</p>

<p>And a bit later in the clip you can see all was &quot;clean&quot;, I moved the camera and then it did appeared again, just by camera moving O_o</p>

<p>It is also visible in iray, I did forgot to record the iray view.</p>

<p>I used 2,5x speed to make it faster ;)</p>

<p>Any idea what there is going on and why that can happen and is it possible to delete the polygons then?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>This post isn&#39;t a question, it is more a guide how I managed to do it.</p>

<p>I moved my Library to a new hard drive by moving &quot;Content Database&quot;, &quot;InstallManager&quot; and &quot;My DAZ 3D Library&quot; Folders to the new HDD.&nbsp;</p>

<p>After editing the path in Content Directory Manager under Preferences in Daz and the Cluster Directory in the CMS Settings everything works and shows up just fine.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The only thing was that Daz Installation Manager was not showing my installed files anymore. That is because the Daz-Shared-XML Files (.dsx) in the folder ManifestFiles (which tell DIM where to find the installed files) now told DIM the old&nbsp;installation path.&nbsp;</p>

<p>I believe the only way to fix that with the Installation Manager itself is to re-install all files. But that is only possible if the original zip files still exist. I deleted them all.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Now searching in this forum a bit it seems that most people say that you have to download the zip files again so you can re-install it.<br />
But since the .dsx files are basically .xml files I knew that you can edit them with the windows notepad (editor).&nbsp;</p>

<p>So I made a backup of all ManifestFiles and tested it. Right click on the file, open with editor and then change the&nbsp;UserInstallPath VALUE from the old path to the new folder location and it worked, it shows up in DIM again.&nbsp;</p>

<p>But doing that for all files I have would take forever.&nbsp;</p>

<p>So I googled for an automatic way and found a tutorial video of how to search and modify xml files with a simple script. <p>I don&#39;t know anything about programming language at all but following this tutorial was pretty easy, all I had to do was change the script a little so that it works for the dsx files.&nbsp;</p>

<p>So what I did was:</p>

<p>go to windwos search bar and search for Windows PowerShell ISE and open the program as admin<br />
then click on new script (I recommend making a backup of your ManiFest Folder in case you do something wrong)<br />

<p>the hashtags are my comments where I tried to translate the tutorial. Make sure to change the installation paths to your paths.&nbsp;</p>

<p>I don&#39;t know if that was the best solution, or if there is an easier way,&nbsp;but it worked and I thought I share this here in case someone has the same problem like me and searches this forum in the future. Before&nbsp;downloading everything again this script could save a lot of time.&nbsp;</p>

<p>I have created a Strand-Based hair for my character. It was working fine, but at some point it stopped rendering. I think it was when I double click on a hair material with the strand-based hair selected. The lines of the hair are there, and I still can see the hair in the strand-based hair editor of Edit-&gt;Object menu, when I enable &quot;Show hairs&quot; on &quot;Style&quot; tab, for example.<br />
Whenever I turn on &quot;Preview PR Hairs&quot; or just render the image, no hair is shown, I can only see the curves with &quot;Preview PR Hairs&quot; off.<br />
I don&#39;t fully understand DAZ materials system&nbsp;&quot;Surfaces&quot;... that is a chaotic&nbsp;part of the application, without&nbsp;an &quot;object&quot; which represents the material, plus&nbsp;you don&#39;t know easily how many materials are applied.&nbsp;I come from Blender, not great, but much better than this on Textures/Materials managing. Anyway, I have &quot;double clicked&quot; on Iray Blended Dual Lobe Hair Shader with the strand-based hair selected but it didn&#39;t help.<br />
I have been reading every post around with problems similar to this, but I found nothing exactly like this, and I have tried the solutions for other similar problems without any success.<br />
If you need screenshots or scenes, just let me know, but the problem is just that: The lines are there, the hair follows the head, it is parented and it&#39;s &quot;Fit to&quot; the figure, so... I don&#39;t know what&#39;s going on.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>So I made a huge mess in my Library. For two years I&#39;ve been installing content from different sources. The Daz assets I have installed with Daz Install Manager, while the third party content from renderocity or other places similar I have just extracted the files in the Library and now I noticed that my daz is getting slower so I have to do a cleanup, but I have no idea how.&nbsp;</p>

<p>I know that in Daz Install Manager I have the uninstall button which is nice, but for the others I have no idea how can I delete everything. I mean all the files are in plenty of folders: data, Runtime, People and so on.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Does any of you know a way to clean my library nice without too much effort. I&#39;m thinking to create a python script to clear the unnecesary files, but not sure which is the folder structure, cuz I was looking in some assets and some of them have data, Runtime, People, while other have more, so yeah...</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hi!</p>

<p>I&#39;m now able to create content from scratch, rigg it, make it a follower, and so on... So I thought, now is the time to share content. I would do this for free, for it is mostly greebles ;-)</p>

<p>My short problem: My brain. I cannot memorize the correct paths, that is, where to put the geometry, where to put the textures, and so on... I have them ordered in my system, but not in a way it is easy to build it in a package. For example, I have a huge folder for own textures that I use, which isn&#39;t in the DAZ subfolder.</p>

<p>I recently read about this one <a href="https://www.daz3d.com/content-package-assist" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">https://www.daz3d.com/content-package-assist</a></p>

<p>My question is: Can this tool collect all files nessessary to build a package that works everywhere, even if textures and geometry are far away from the DAZ folder?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>So to keep this as Safe for work as possible, I need to find gential options for the Genesis 8 male much like there are genital options for his female counterpart. I was told that the Michael 8 Pro Bundle gave me access to a male genitalia option, but I didn&#39;t want to buy the whole bundle so I just bought Micheal 8 only to see no such option.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Do I really need to buy the full bundle to get male genitalia options, or is there another product on the daz store that has such an option?</p>

<p>Please keep answers mature and professional, and no, I don&#39;t need this morph/addon for what you think I need it for.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hi, I got a free object and wanna texture it, but it seems like it does not really accept any design, it only shows a color:</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Going through the basic assets installed with DAZ Studio, I found that I had no clue what a number of them are.</p>

<p>Among them, in the shader presets/omnifreaker/human surface, there are three assets :</p>

<p>Human surface base</p>

<p>HDR KHpark</p>

<p>HDR Kitchen</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>I&#39;ve&nbsp; no&nbsp;clue what they do. I tried to apply them on a primitive surface, and render in both Iray and 3Dlight, and they did nothing. I tried to apply them on a skin surface (since they&#39;re in a folder called &quot;human surface&quot;) and in 3Dlight, they seem to make the skin very shiny, as if it was wet and reflecting several lights.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Does anybody know what these &quot;shader presets&quot; are supposed to be used for?&nbsp;</p>
