Yeah, it's unintuitive and frustrating, but if you stick at it, you can get far better (i.e. more realistic/believable) results than with transmapped hair.

This is part of a hair set I'm working on. Still have a bit to fix here—as you can see, there's a bit of unwanted hair intersection going on toward the back by the part—but I think we're getting there.

Is DIM supposed to work with PP2014?

* EDIT Ok, I guess so, just have to point my Library to the My DAZ3D Library.

Further question:
Why?
I may understand the concept from A DS point of view. But I believe that Poser 2014 has a limit on libray files.

Anyways, I don't like having all my files in the My DAZ3D Library. I'd rather have it the old way where the files are in the directory I chose for them originally.

But due to a crash, I have to now download all the files again, and when I download and install them without the DIM they just don't work. Hell, some of the files won't even extract properly when I attempt to do so manually. So I am forced to use the DIM.

And on further note, I noticed that I have to now point my library to use the content folder. So now Poser library shows a Content folder for each and every product.

I buy Renderosity AND RuntimeDNA products and they work fine without me pointing to a content folder.

Hi. I wanted to try toon-style rendering in Poser and followed the Setting Up Toon Renders tutorial from Smith Micro website. http://poser.smithmicro.com/tutorials/render_toon.html

But Poser crashed on me while rendering (the figure rendered was Victoria 4) and now whenever I try to apply Set Up Toon Render to Victoria 4 skin in the Material Room, her skin turns this weird brown-ish color (and sadly not just in viewpoint, it also renders this way). The problem is only with Vicky 4. I tried Michael 4, Aiko 3 and even Cookie, and with them it works without problem. On clothing it also works just fine. But when I use it on any part of V4 skin, the aforementioned bug always happens (regardless whether it is the default V4 skin or some other).

Here is how my Advanced parameters look after applying the Setting Up Toon Renders wacro to V4 legs.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Hello,
I am a frustrated Daz customer. I've been a member for more than 10 years. I was using Poser when I became a member and started buying Daz products. Now 10 years in I find that I can't buy what I want because I can't install it into Poser. I'm not talking about the products that utilize the DSON installer for Poser, but the ones that don't such as The new Dojo bundle: http://www.daz3d.com/martial-arts-dojo-bundle and many, many new items. Why can't Daz stay loyal to its customers that have been loyal to Daz whether they use Poser or not? Please make the DSON installer for Poser available for ALL products. Certainly there is enough staff here that can convert models and scenes so that we can use them in Poser without trying to figure out someone's outside script that I can't figure out to save my life. (The DSOnLoader script found on another site that comes with zero instructions.)

Please Daz, make all items available to us Poser users and stop alienating us. I've supported you and have been a Premium member for more than 10 years but I'm really losing interest in keeping my membership.

Ok, I'm at a point where I know what I want to do, but don't know what terms to use to find it. I have the books from Poser7 - Poser 8 and more. Am Running PPro14 on Win7 , but it shouldn't matter as this probably goes back to Poser5 or earlier.

(1) When I buy products from vendors, typically Hair or Clothing, I go to Figures or Props to load the basic item, then
(2) I go to "Poses" to change colors or materials.

I know how to use the material room and nodes to change the textures jpg by jpg for Items I have created.

But how do I make something that allows me with one click to change whole character or prop materials from the 'Pose' menu like the vendors do, and what is this process called?

It seems like a Poser idiosyncracy that major material changes in Hair or clothing textures should be under "Pose" rather than "Materials," but I can accept that this is just the way it is done. However, if how to do it is in any of the books, I just don't know the terms to search on.

Any help to point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

A 60 second animation featuring Alyson paddling a pacific islander kayak through lush lava hillocks covered with Plumeria with dangers lurking at the waterline. Made with Poser (figure & animations) and E-on Vue (plants, atmosphere). Rendered in Vue, edited in Adobe Premiere. Rendered on a AMD-FX based PC in approx. 30 hours (30fps x 30 Sec) using Vue's spectral light in final animation. No After Effects or post-work beyond perspective sequencing and edit transitions.
Problems with Shaders in Nighttime Situations

Hypothetically, I have a Victoria 4.2 model with custom shaders. It renders fine in daytime scenarios. But suppose I want to render this model in a nighttime scene in a room, with moonlight shining through a window. When the moonlight touches the surface of this model directly, it's as if the model is "glowing" in the dark.

A big part of my trepidation in using the DAZ Generation 4 or later models has been the environmental issues that seem to come with shaders. DAZ Generation 3 models, such as Victoria 3 and Michael 3, never had this problem. Those models never used shaders.

Is there any way around this? Is there any way to simply disable the shaders on a Generation 4 model? I don't like them to begin with.

DAZ Studio runtime in Poser 10?

HI,

My main app is DAZ Studio 4.6 (latest version) but I rarely use Genesis figures and I'm becoming convinced that Generation-4 support will become obsolete (hence the 80% off content sale at the moment).

I have Poser 10 which I consider to be an awful interface but I might need to get used to it. I just had a trial run and loaded V4.2 from my DAZ Studio runtime (which I have linked in Poser). V4.2 loads fine but when I try to load Morphs ++ of Aiko4 or S4 morphs from the same DS runtime, they do not load. I've tried double-clicking and dragging the icon into the scene but nothing appears in the V4 morph parameters.

So my question is: do I need to download Poser versions of all of my content? I have 60GB+ in my DS runtime!

Do most Poser users by-pass the supplied figures in favour of DAZ's ?

Hi all,

This is a kind of vague question but...

I'm gradually using Poser 10 more these days and enjoying a lot of its features.

Apart from the few supplied clothes I don't have anything for the figures which come with Poser. From DAZ I have M4 and V4 (but again few garments for them).

What I'm wondering - would most Poser users forget about Smith-Micro's figures and just use DAZ's?

Is there any compelling argument for buying things for figures such as Jessi, Alyson (and whatever the male counterparts are :) ).

When I use Poser, I like these figures (even the very early ones) but is the general opinion that they are better avoided in favour of DAZ's?

(So far, I haven't tried using M4 or V4 in Poser - I imagine they handle the same as the native figures?).

Thanks for any advice.

I purchased two character morphs for V3, and have done everything the Readme tells me to do:

"Load V3 and in the Pose Library apply the Default MAT. Inject her face and body features with the Default icon button"

With all the necessary morphs loaded, I double-click the character in the Pose menu, only to get a message that it can't find the following file:

    "InjDeltas.BrowDownR.pz2"

There are probably a lot more missing, but Poser has always been totally lame where it concerned missing files. When I click "Cancel", the program just keeps throwing back error messages until I force-quit the darn program. I really thought that Poser Pro 2012 would have at least been more stable in this respect -- but no!.

But can anyone please give me advice on the missing deltas? Pleaaaase!
