First, a little rant. I'm installing everything I have into the DAZ3D Library, because I can't make heads or tails about the stuff DIM puts in there.

If it's a character, there is stuff, then if its a prop, it puts stuff someplace else, and then I found Renderosity.com, and those installers put stuff someplace too, and then there is the stuff folks put up for free and that's a runtime folder with a bunch of stuff...

And then I look for some prop in my poser library, and gees, there a folders all over the place for characters, authors, I can't find anything.

Ends of rant.

QUESTION:

Isn't there some strategy that helps keep stuff neatly organized? I hate installers because the insist I put things where it decides they should go. Grrrr. Maybe installing into a holding folder and then manually moving the files to the actual runtime? Surely I'm not the only one who feels this way?

Can anyone explain to me how the installed files work? I'm pretty familiar with Skyrim modding, so I'm not too afraid of figuring stuff out and messing with it, but I'm unfamiliar with Poser still. I really wish I better understood which files do what and why they have to be in certain places.

Any help appreciated. I'm very frustrated because looking for some boots for 10 minutes because I don't happen to remember the name of the author is really getting to me.

PS: I wonder when runtimedena.com will be online again... I feel silly posting Poser questions in a Daz3d forum.

My DSON file went in the My DAZ 3D Library folder first...didn't work so I put it in the Poser 10 folder which is the software I have and I get the error message from both "poser.error: Couldn't create unimesh geometry". I think I have moved them all around and nothing seems to work. WAH! What am I doing wrong, I love it, I spent a lot on it and can't use it for 24 hrs so far.

So after a rousing game of "buy everything in sight" over the last couple of weeks, I wound up with
Lilith6 Pro
V6 Pro
A6 Pro
Mei Lin Pro
their HD add-ons
and a slew of character add-ons for them.

All were installed with Daz Install Manager to the MyDAZ3DLibrary folder.

I'm now finding a serious problem in Poser Pro 2014 Game Dev that is best illustrated by the attached image:

I load Lilith 6 straight from the Library, and she looks nothing like the promo image, but rather, more like the base Gen2 Female.
So then I load the base Gen2 Female and move her slightly to the side, and sure enough, same face.
I next load Meridiana - a character (face and body morphs) for Lilith 6, only to find that she, too, is an identical twin to Gen 2 Female.
Finally, I load Lilith6 HD, and there again, she looks just like the default Gen 2 Female.

Aside from the difference in height, Mei Lin has the same face as Gen 2 Female.

V6 and A6 are the only ones who do not look alike.

Additionally, as you can see in the attached image (hopefully), without loading any INJs, these figures come into the scene with parameter dials for the various characters based on G2F, including V6 and A6, and the A6 characters. Only a few of the dials actually work, mostly the A6 characters. I cannot make Lilith look like anything other than Gen 2 Female using the dials.

I load the Lilith add-on Ava character head INJ (which is one of the dials that are already in the list), yet nothing changes when the dial is adjusted.

If I load these same figures in D|S 4.7, they come into the picture like they're supposed to - fully morphed and ready to render.

(note that the figures in the attached image were given the same texture only, NO body/figure/character/head morphs were applied after they were loaded into the scene, and no dials were adjusted other than X Trans of the Bodies).

Should I look into uninstalling these figures and then reinstalling them to completely separate Runtimes?

I haven't checked Lee and Michael 6 against G2 Male, though after this, I probably oughta.

Hi, anyone have experience in import Poser animations into DAZ ??

I have tried different attemps but all fail....... (e.g. import a .pz3 file direclty, export to maya then import)

Poser have walk cycle motion path animations.

Life will be a lot easier if these animations can import to DAZ.

Anyone have tried this before ?

[Solution]

After more trys and errors, I find out that the problem is I used animation layer in generate the walk

animation. If I create animation in base animation layer, all work fine. The animation will not go crazy when

open in DAZ studio.

Here is a summary on how you can import Poser Walk Path animation into DAZ:

1. Startup Poser (both pro and non-pro are OK).

2. Delete the default doll character and load DAZ Michael 4 or Victoria 4

3. Create the walk path animation in Poser. IMPORTANT: You must apply the animation to BASE layer

4. Save the file as poser .PZ3 file.

5. Startup DAZ and import the .PZ3 file.

6. Create aniblock using the keyframe animation

7. The walk path animation aniblock can now apply to any characters in DAZ studio.

If there is other ways to create walk path animation in DAZ studio, please let me know, thanks.

I finally caught up by purchasing Poser Pro 2014 (sidegrade from P9) during the awesome 20th Anniversary sale over at SM.

I am installing on Windows7 x64, and on the first screen (after EULA) where to intstall to is a secondary line from the x64 install directory with a checkbox that states: "Install 32 bit files"

If I check the box, a new statement appears: "Setup will Install 32 bit application files in the following folder.", and a secondary directory appears for my x86 Program Files.

Now, I am well versed in x64 and x86 installs for my x64 PC, but this is the first x64 version of Poser I have owned, so I do not know if these are extra x86 files, needed x86 files, or checking this box will supersede my x64 install and Poser thinks I want to install the 32 bit version on this 64 bit PC instead.

Please advise...

I've always used the default (Texture Shaded) Preview method. I'm trying the trick Smith Micro's "Creating Better Toon Outlines" video, which uses Cartoon With Line Preview method.

Here's the problem: When I switch to Cartoon with Line, all of my color goes away. This seems like it might be a setting but I can't find it anywhere!

This happens with a brand new document with just Andy2 in it (and any other document I load).

How can I get color back into my Previews?!?

Hello
I updated the PP2012 for Poser Pro 2014 Game Dev
I was analyzing something and came to the conclusion that the preview of "colorful comic book" is much more "comic" than when rendered (rendered using the comic style)
I wanted to know is there a way to save the preview in dimensions of 3000 x 2000?
Thank you

Haven't started up Poser for a few days. Tried it today and it crashed as soon as the main screen came up -

poser pro executable file has stopped working

Using Windows 7.

I just updated Flash today and I'm wondering if that might have something to do with it. Before I go into uninstall reinstall hell I just wondered if others were having any problems.

Poser 9 still works.

Maybe I should uninstall 9, but they both worked before...

Although now that I checked I haven't updated poser 9 to sr3.

SO has anyone had problems with sr3 and has updated flash?

Hi everyone,

I'm still very much a new user of Poser 10 and thought I'd check out what's involved in creating dynamic clothing (I've draped ready-made items before).

What I've done isn't special in any way but, in case it may interest others starting out in Poser, I've posted a video showing some first results.

It lasts under two minutes.

Problems with PP2014 SR4 and DSON?

I am using PP2014 SR4 64 bit, and DSON 1.1.3.50 64 bit both in Windows 8.1.

A few weeks ago before I UD Poser to SR4, I was using SR3 and this same version of DSON and things worked fine. Now, when I load G2F into Poser, none of her FBM's will load (Gia, Olympia6, Girl6, etc.) Also, after loading, none of the FBM's built into the clothing figures are loading either.

Is there a problem with PP2014 SR4 and this version of DSON?

I normally always use G2F in DS4.6P, but as a beta tester, I have to test some things in Poser with DSON to make sure they work, so it's important I find out what is going on.

Thanks for any help you guys can offer.

I have placed the python scripts where they should go in PoserPro 2014. I used the Install Manager for the Starter Essentials (Did both packages--Starter Essentials and Starters Essentials for Poser CF for both male and female). It placed the files in my users/shared path, not in Poser Runtime. Not sure if it is supposed to go here or not. I get a Python Call error when I try to create the Genesis figure:

Exception in Reality::DataModel::collectMaterials(Figure 1/Genesis) => NULL result without error in PyObject_Call
Exception in RealityDataModel::addObjects: error return without exception set

Can someone tell me what all this means and how to get this blasted thing to work?

NEW: I managed to get rid of the call error, but I'm not having Genesis 2 female show up now. It is invisible. I am using PoserPro 2014, Service Release 4.

Thank you,
