Who cares, I can't hear your answers, I'm in the past you silly little gits... but sorry about the mess we left for you... if it's any consolation, we had a hell of a party... sorry you had to clean it up... you probably would have done the same though, you see back in the day NFTs we're all the rage... right up there with gender reveal parties... if you don't have those anymore, it was a kind of party where you revealed the gender of your unborn child by blowing up the party with an obscene amount of explosives and colored powder... it was fabulous.

I guess that probably doesn't make sense, but really not a lot of things humans do make sense... particularly NFTs which are probably why you are here reading this...

Well, you see in my time NFTs were something that was supposed to help struggling artists... it kinda added a bit to the problem of global warming, but lots of people said that wasn't a big deal because they were very knowledgeable about stuff... not necessarily that stuff, but they knew how to say words like "Arbitrage", "DeFi Aggregator", "Instamine" and "Liquidity Pool"... which back in these times made people who said those words sound very believable... they'd always talk in acronyms, which made them seem even slicker... they'd toss out things like "IDX", "ICO", "HODL", "FUD" and one they loved to wave around... "FOMO"... that stood for "Fear Of Missing Out"...

In my time people were very concerned with FOMO, some because they thought it stood for Ferocious Omnipotent Mutant Octopuses, which was briefly a problem in 2020 (but what the hell wasn't?)... but others because they feared missing out on the ground floor of the next big trend... like when Apple computers first offered stock and people were confused by the idea of computers made out of apples, but others got it was gonna be a big thing and they bought the stock for peanuts (a form of currency in the 1990s)... 

Nobody wanted to look like a big smelly idiot, so they weren't going to get left behind this time and they were constantly looking for the next Apple or Google or SilCorDyne... (ignore that last one if you are not in the future, you aren't supposed to know about that until at least 2024)... 

Scientists warned that the cryptocurrency thing was going to add to the acceleration of global warming, but really nobody wanted to miss out on a sure thing... and the NFT side of the cryptomania was the surest of sure things... sure, it might make the world a little hotter, but if everyone could become billionaire, then everyone could afford personal air conditioned EVA suits to go to the Lamborghini dealership to buy their weekly fleet of Lamborghinis... and eventually the whole global warming thing would blow over and just disappear like a miracle... 

I'm not making excuses, it's just that you probably came here because your polar bear overlords are making you write paper for school or something, so I'm just explaining how you got there...

Well, for the most part, at the moment NFTs haven't really done what they were intended to do (not the global warming thing), which was uplift the lowly and unempowered artists of the world... mostly right now it's just rich people getting richer and a few poor schmucks making a nice buck here and there, while most other people dump money into a FOMO cash funnel hoping to get a chunk of the pie...

I'm sure that eventually worked out and all the struggling artist finally struck it rich and that made all the wet angry polar bears worth it...

In our time and previously, artists were always exploited and taken advantage of and the folks with the slick suits and cool words promised that would finally change... they wouldn't lie about that?

No matter, I'm guessing it did and even though you probably have an angry polar bear prodding you to finish up your essay, it at least did for a while and the ice caps probably melted for some other reason...

Well... I'm kinda bored with this now, I'm going to go back to working on my time machine so I can see how this all turned out which is probably fine.

it's something I otherwise wouldn't touch with a barge pole and had I not invested in so much 3D content the day DAZ started selling NFTs would have been the day I closed my account

Okay, it wasn't "art", but it is a NFT.  Reports circulating are that he expected upwards of 50 million for the re-sell, but only a handful of buyers were even bidding and the top bid came in for only $280.00 US dollars.

Now, I'm no mathematician, but I believe if this will be the result of any future offerings, he will keep his "investment" or suffer a huge loss.

I wonder if this will start a trend of things to come...

But I wanted to point out specifically the episides that are titled Bonus: The Crypto Story by Matt Levine

As of now, there's four parts out and there's more to come.

You may (or, more likely, may not) remember that I'm very sceptical of all things crypto.

But The Crypto Story is not not about mocking, or condemning, or "exposing" crypto.

It's a well done explanation of what crypto actually is and I found it engrossing and illuminating, which is why I wanted to recommend it here.

I don't understand every single thing that's being said but I feel I already have a much better understanding of many crypto terms and concepts (Bitcoin, Etherum, Smart Contract, etc).

As far as I can tell the author takes a truly neutral stance on the matter.

I'm still very sceptical of crypto generally, and NFT projects in the "Bored Ape" mold specifically.

But having listened to this article so far, I now also have some appreciation for some of the ideas and philosophies behind crypto.

There's a lot of hot air, but there's actually also something behind all the smoke and mirrors, and I find it genuinely interesting and fascinating.

I'm a total newbie of this "NFT" stuff !
I only know that you can apparently sell "pictures" (your renders) of the stuff that you have bought on the store on NFT (like the site opensea I presume ?)

I would like to do so but I'm totally lost of how I can achieve this.
For example, I would like to sell 1000 pieces/nft of the same image  (as it is "digital", it should be only some clicks to do ?) how can I achieve that ?
Does it cost something at the beginning ?

Are there people there who can help me out starting my carreer in NFT by using daz3D renders ?
I'm open to any feedback or links that can help me out in that process.

From what I gather, once something is on the Blockchain, it cannot be removed only hidden. If someone is Doxxed on the Blockchain it can only be hidden, if their nudes or worse stuff we cannot discuss is added it is there for good and can only be hidden.

Nothing stays hidden on the internet, if Interpol get involves because of something can it be edited or only can  be destroyed.

How is this secure?

I need this explained to me like a small child because I am too dumb to understand the complexity of it, I only see the Emperor's New Clothes, I am not trolling, this is literally what I see and believe and am begging people not to drink the Coolaide because a lot of Artists I respect are going to lose a lot of money doing this.

I am really concerned for the future DAZ too.

My protests and boycots fall on deaf ears and I in the end do relent and buy something I really want still because if I don't it may be too late when  forclosure happens.

So I Googled DAZ coin and found out there is a cryptocurrency by the same name...

This leads me to at least two possible conclusions:

    1) I am just too dim to understand the concepts involved  - or -

    2) There is nothing there to understand

While I claim no deep understanding of the math behind crypto currencies, at least I understand fairly clearly what crypto currencies do. They provide an digital currency that is very difficult if not impossible to counterfit while enabling completely anonymous transactions. I.e., cash, but without a physical form.

What NFT provides is not only less clear, it is not getting any clearer with time. It can somehow be used to exstablish "ownership" of a digital work. Ok, but we already have this thing called a "receipt" or bill of sale for that. Does it prevent non-owners from seeing (or hearing) the digital work in question? Sorry, but that makes no sense for a works of art. This would only allow you to say "It's mine now and nobody can see it. But trust me, it looks so cool!" Not much different than wrapping it up and strongly encrypted zip file.

So, even after a year of following this, no one has explained clearly what problme NFTs actually address that hasn't been already addressed with simpiler means. Don't point me at any long-wind articles by experts. Just tell me in your own words, how NFT make a differece. Be specific - no "This revolutionizes everything!" answes. I've spent a year looking at those tea leaves and have yet read one which says anything other than claiming that this or that expert says "Trust me, it is really cool! And there's money to be made!" The whole thing smells like Mortgage-backed securities pre-2008. Luckily, I don't think this has any danger of toppling the Dow.

I was wondering if there are any scripts out allready to help in the aid of generating like 1000+ NFT's with random traits etc. The easiest method to me would be to have it change a prop/clothingpiece/accesory every new frame to a random selection from a pre-defined category of props/cloths in the scene. This to make it render each frame with a new random setup of traits which makes it easier to render a full collection of 1000+ randomly generated characters.

I tried just cutting out 3d images and layering it in 2d, but you always keep weird problems with the (bounce) lightning off the model, fabrics which make the pieces not match properly.

I guess the "Non fungible people" collection from daz3d has been using such a script, since it would be a immense work to manually hand by hand create every character in that collection, so im sure there is some kind of method possible. Was hoping someone wants to share! Or if someone is able to custom code it for me please also hit me up, i am willing to pay a fee for it if needed.
