Hello i'm a beginner in Daz3D !

I have created a scene and i think i deleted the default lighting of Daz (you know when there is this little shadow on the ground that means there is a light on the right side of your character)

i deleted it and i've added my own light (a few spot lights) and when i render i don't know i don't like what i see it's too contrasty it's like there is no environment lighting at all and the only lights are those spots, i think it's what make this problem but i am not sure exactly myself what's wrong.

i would like to start everything from zero but i don't want to loose the pose of my character, the camera view (i have set a camera) and the objects i have put in the scene, is there a way to make everything back to 0 without loosing all of those stuffs ?

when i go to render setting and i choose "default" i doesn't come back as it was before i think, when i do a render i have a kind of blue light (possibly a sky light i don't know) i didn't have that at the beggining i think.

thank you for your help !

I've tried going into the color tab, but it keeps the dark grey color as the base and applies the new color over it. I.E.: When I try to make it a vibrant red, it comes out a burgundy/crimson. Any tips?

Good day everyone,

I am a totally newbie to this DAZ-3d and I am just begining to learn the tricks. So I need some help. I am REALLY enjoying working

with DAZ and it is giving me alot of joy to use.

Once I figure out all the tricks on how to use DAZ-4.10, I can start creating new models and giving them to you - and then see what you guys can do with them.

I am in this adventure for the FUN and good times and not to sell the models I will be creating.

I have 2 questions.

In these past 2 weeks I have been making a new Marilyn Monroe model (face + body) using the G3F and doing another for the G8F base model.

So far, they are not bad, but they still need more sculpting in the face for more realism.

I am using these 2 morphs builders...

https://www.daz3d.com/200-plus-head-and-face-morphs-for-genesis-8-female-s
-
https://www.daz3d.com/rarestone-s-face-morphs-collection-for-genesis-8-female
-

...because I discovered that having 2 of these programs I can better sculpt a better face with more details , instead of just using one.

Even tho they are both exceptional and wonderful to use, one program has features that the other is missing, specially for the nose

amd eyebrows, so using both

adds more to my resources in sculpting a more detailed face. I want to create a detailed realistic face and not a simple quickie.

I know there was a "SAV_Marina" model already created for the Victoria 4 model, and it is very nice, but I want to take things a

little forward another step and start using the newer Genesis-8 female base figure. Afterall, DAZ is moving forward in its evolution,

and I think more new models should be created for the G8F with as much face feature realism as possible.

My first question is , when posting these new models for everyone , does everyone also need to have these 2 morphs builder programs installed in

in their DAZ-3d (?) for them to have the same face and body morphs be seen?

or will the DAZ program automaticly recognize the facial morph changes to the base figure and add these changes?

-- if they need these 2 morph builders installed already, it may become a bummer for some people to not use them because it may cost alot.

What is everyone else using in their DAZ as the basic face morph builder?

My second questions pertains to saving up these morphs better.

I have read alot of post already and seen Youtube videos, but I am still confused, with everyone having a diferent way to save

the face + body features morphs.

What is the correct way to save both new face+ new body morphs together ?

I know these may seem like silly questions, but I am still learning.

I struggle with trying to pose characters particularly when the pose requires movement of the hip. For example, I have one pose where the character is kneeling and the hips are leaning to one side. As part of my animation I want to shift the hips to the other side without moving the shins and the shins maintaining contact with the floor.

I have tried messing around with the Rotation Tool and Pinning the shins but no matter what I do the positioning gets messed up. Typically this includes the character rotating through the floor. If there were only minor movements on the floor surface it would probably look ok but I end up having to completely reposition the character.

I have similar problems when I have a standing character and simply want to bend the knees.

Can someone please help me with this situation and also could you point me at some tutorials that will help with real world posing (as opposed to the very simplistic stuff that I am finding that simply repositions upper body parts)?

I create a figure - tried both genesis 8 female and genesis 3 female

I make sure the root node is selected (I also tried select-all and selecting the hip)

I go to shaping->apply and pick a shape (like 10 years old which should show a more drastic effect if its working)

I double click that

Nothing happens

I look through 'parameters'->'actor' for anything that would apply that shape.. not seeing anything

How does one apply one of these purchased shapes? Where would one normally go to figure that out without bugging people on the forums? (tried youtube, tried store page, not sure where these instructions are normally stored)

Hi,

So I’m a newbie with a really, Really, REALLY stupid question (sorry).

I’m trying to learn how to render. I know that I’m supposed to be able to go somewhere in Daz3D (Render Settings?) and see a page where I can adjust a slider for the quality of the render from one to four. It even has nifty turtle and hare icons to make the whole business even more idiot-proof.

But, when I hit "render settings," I get a complicated control panel that lacks all of those features.

I have attached a file showing "what I expected" as opposed to "what I got."

Any idea what I'm doing wrong? And any pointers to how I might fix it?

Thanks hugely in advance.

cheers

So here is my question. I've been messing around with Genesis 2, but I'd like to use Genesis 8 (female), only any time I use it I can't seem to find a 'breast' setting for shaping/sizeing. The Chest just makes it look lopsided.

OK, Hi. New user here.
I'm trying to gather the bits I need to construct figures for my Indie Fantasy novel. (Two albinos in black cloaks with swords, two dark skinned warrior types in armour with swords (or in roman style clothing plus swords would do.), 1 man and 1 woman of each.

I am finding it very frustrating that I find things that would look good but the product page says (for example) 'compatible figures' Victoria 4/Michael 4. It may also say something like 'required products' xyz body morphs and facial morphs. Sometimes it may say something like 'required product' Michael 4.
So, the question. If it says compatible with Victoria 4, does that mean that it will not work on Genesis 3? Or will that thing in the Daz window that you can use to make something fit (sorry, I can't remember what it actually says and I'm not able to run the program right now to find out) be able to adjust it to Genesis 3?

I assume that when it says required products then it actually will not work at all without those products. Is that right?
Thank you.

Well this is a new one for me....When I apply a preset pose to a character, the scale of the character shrinks to either 70% or 55%. Each time I change poses, I have to adjust the scale of the Actor back to 100%. Any idea what is causing this? This just started happening today.

How do I apply visual style shaders? Id like to apply them to genesis or H4 A4. I tried drag and drop and when I went to render it was stuck on optimizing for 2 hours. I also tried to double click, but then it said I had to select something in the scene. I selected genesis, but then the visual shaders were no longer an option.

I'm a brand new user to Daz3d and have never done anything like this before. I am trying to complete the Elvish Storm interactive tutorial but I can't seem to get the scene to render. It has been rendering in iRay for 18 minutes and counting and is still at zero percent. I do have an image in the other window though. At the time of writing this 22 minutes has elapsed and now its at 4%. Is it normal for it to render this slow? Will it take hours to render every scene? I just bought a brand new computer (my ten year old laptop couldnt handle the program) so I could pursue this hobby, and with 16 gig ram and a 1 terabyte hardrive I had hoped this one would be able to crank out renders so I can practice and see the fruits of my labor.

I have a lot to learn and if anybody can help me that would be amazing.

Hi all, bit of a newbie question here but doing my head in.

I recently downloaded Studio Pro 4.10 (for a Mac) and I also got a new character set (poses/textures) which I loaded into the appropriate folders in the My Library but I cannot seem to find them in the software anywhere.

They all come as .duf files so the crux of my question I guess is can Studio 4.10 read a .duf? Did a search on here but I've seen conflicting answers.

Hi everyone.

I bought Evie for Genesis 2 female and cant believe the difference it makes to add a good skin texture to the model.
Now I'm trying to do the same things for genesis 2 males and have a few questions.

1) There don't seem to be all that many males model/textures for genesis 2 males, (excl. Michael 6 based) and the ones that there are aren't really the look I'm going for. Is it possible to morph one of those shapes (change the shape of the face) and still keep the texture in tact?

2) can you buy high def textures on their own, ( I haven't seen any) or do you have to buy the whole George/john/harry figure bundles with their morphs and skin textures?

3) I like some of the Michael 4 characters, and I love the fact that you can get them for a steal on the current weekend specials, but everything I own so far is genesis 2 based including the clothes, so I don't really want to start collecting everything again for M4. I have since discovered the following tools, but don't really understand which is the best tool to use in order to use the M4 based figures and textures on Genesis 2, if that's even possible, (baring in mind that all I want is the guys face shape and texture. I'll use the genesis 2 poses and clothes etc after that.)

3.1- https://www.daz3d.com/v4-and-m4-shapes-for-genesis

3.2 - http://www.daz3d.com/new-releases/victoria-4-for-genesis-2-female

3.3 - http://www.daz3d.com/genesis-generation-x2

And Do I need the original Michael 4 base to get these to work, or can I just buy the character I want and use him.

Thanks
