Hi everybody,

I just bought the i13 Neighborhood Bar Environment with Poses. Great product but I can't seem to get the lighting to work. It comes with a prelit version, but the lighting is so low I still can't see anything in the bar. It's just too dark. Of course, I've tried to put in my own spotlights but they don't work at all. They emit no light whatsoever. Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem might be? I've tried both versions and I can't get lighting to work at all.

Thanks in advance.

Hi all, I'm using Project EYERay (a merchant resource) to create eye colors. I'm wondering if it's possible to save a color I've built up as a material preset that doesn't refer to the EYERay files specifically. Since this product is billed as a merchant resource, I assume it's both allowed and possible.

I guess it's slightly complicated by the fact that the product uses its own UV set for the cornea, for example. It also uses OpenEXR images for some of the bump files.

Saving a material preset in the usual "Save As" way refers to these files in the product's Runtime folder, of course. Should I be doing something differently? Do you think a redistributable file is even allowed in this context? Any advice on a proper workflow for a case like this, and for other merchant resource products generally, would be greatly appreciated. I understand they're all different, with different allowances, but any suggestions would be great.

Many thanks.

They are in my scene list and I can highlight them but they are invisible. Also, they only show up in my content library and nowhere else. Additionally, they also don't display a picture in my content library like all of my other assets. It seems like something got missed in the download.

Hi all,

I wondering if there are any communities to exchange saved scene / scene subset files with other artists?

I have been working on several projects in last years, I created hundreds of characters sets, minding photorealism. I have about 200 "real people" scene character sets, and over 100 alien species character scenes, mostly with clothed and nude options, posed, with lights, render ready. Mostly G3, but some G1, G2 and G8 lately. (I just uploaded several dozen renders randomly to my gallery to check)

So, I'm interested if there are communities to share such content with each others, or exchange somehow?

Thanks,
[and sorry for my language, I'm no native english speaker]

I purchased two Daz models from the same person. My goal was to combine the two clothing items into one however they had different poly counts and different surface features too. The surface on one item was flat while the surface on the other item had wrinkles which also skewed its verts horizontally and vertically. I was told that it wouldnt be possible to combine them since they have different geometries but i'm using Blender to combine them. So it is possible but what i want to know is since this is going into a game as a mod can anyone look at my technique for combining them and let me know if it will work? i only know a little bit about quads, tris, ngons and how it all relates to animations. I know that ngons are bad so i try to avoid them. But with tris is it still possible to have too many of them or have a poor layout of tris that it would not be good for animations?

First pictures shows how i did it. Left side is what the typical unaltered faces looked like. Middle and right side shows two different ways i cut the faces so that i could join the verts together. The one on the right was usually done for long faces where a tri might be too "skinny" if i did it the middle way. Last pictures show the actual models in Blender.

Hi guys. It may be a newbie question, so be it.

After losing a lot of my Poser content because of a defective external HDD (which prompted me to embrace DAZ about 1y ago), I'm curious on how you guys manage your content libraries.

I've recently bought a new rig with a 500gb SSD drive for Windows, and I'm storing my personal content library on a portable 2TB Western Digital disk so that I can use it also on my laptop. However, it looks fragile, and I'm afraid of losing my content again. Should I transfer all the content to an external (tabletop eSATA) HDD? Or should I buy a newer, bigger, internal one?

Which kind of HDD is best for storing libraries? Do you save it on an external HDD? A portable one? An SSD (which may be expensive, as DAZ3D libraries tend to be bigger than Poser ones)? Or just a good old internal drive? What are the pros and cons of each option?

Thank you for your replies! :)

Dynamic Clothing Control tutorial? (I can't figure out how to use it)

Hi everyone, I'm pretty new to Daz, just been messing around with it for about a week and I really love it! I just purchased the Dynamic Clothing Control plugin after watching some videos and being amazed by what I saw. Unfortunately, I have no clue how to actually use it, and I'm a bit surprised that the product doesn't seem to come with any documentation at all to help get me started?

So here's where I'm at. I installed the plugin and I now have access to the Dynamic Clothing panel inside DS. Now, I understand that this only works with "dynamic" clothing, is that correct? It can't be applied to any old costume? That's fine if correct, I'm just making sure. Does that include products from this freebies page? http://www.optitex-dynamiccloth.com./

If so, how in the world do I install them? I don't seem to be able to install them with the Daz Install Manage because the file type is incorrect. And the .zip installation tutorial on that website seems outdated, the file structure it shows for installation seems to have changed since that video was made.

Anyway, can someone point me in the right direction? I just want to get one piece of dynamic clothing loaded in here so that I can mess around with it. How do I do that? Is it only compatible with "Dynamic" clothing options from the Daz store, or will those freebies work?

Hello,

i have bough my first Dforce stuff, the product i bought is called "classic long hair" i can't tell it's awesome yet because i'm waiting for the simulation to be done actually xD

once i put the hair on my character, the hair looked kinda crazy (like jackson five or something like that) i guess it's normal, but it was VERY laggy too

is it normal ? same for the simulation it takes a lot of time and my character don't even have clothes and these i no other object in the scene, just hair and character to try it but it's taking lots of time

i think i have a decent computer it's an i5 with 16go of RAM and my graphic card is a GTX 1050

is there any option i should check to get faster?

thank you

Hi, I've been discovering Daz3D for about a week now.
One thing I noticed is that big amounts of my hard disk space seem to disappear after a week of rendering some simple scenes.
But when I look at the files, they are not so big at all.
Somewhere, something is eating away large amouts of my disk space or am I wrong?
Can someone explain this to me and what I can do to regain some of this disk space?
(or what are the biggest files in Daz3D and where are they stored / deleted.)
I am working on a 2017 iMac.
Thanks!

Hello, i hope i'm in the right section since i'm a beginner but this is not a beginner section XD

Well, i know a little Zbrush and i would lIke to make a Morph of Sakura, i'd like to stretch a bit her eyes and put her nose a bit lower (something like Dragon ball Face)

But i really don't know how to do it, i mean, i know how to import the model in zbrush, i know what tool to use but i don't know how it works when i import her back in Daz, if i stretch the eyes, i think i will have to stretch the eye ball too or it's gonna look weird.

When i change face's expression will the bone follow correctly my new morph or not ?

thank you for your reply and if you know any good tutorials about this with zbrush it would be awesome !

Character Flying Around

Hi,

I have been trying to make a simple animation for a G2F character to get up from the chair and walk around it to get to the other side of it. Believe it or not I am in my third week in trying to accomplish it! I got the getting up part ok, although the feet sliding slightly bother me, but I can live with it.

The major problem is walking with turning and walking three steps around the chair. I tried rotating the figure around the Y axis but that affects previos animations's positioning. I tried moving body parts one by one using the dials but the the animation looks clumsy, unnatural and robot-like. I like the tool with a bone icon (forgot what it's called, I am not at my pc now), it makes the movements look smooth and natural as it affects other limbs as they supposed to in real life.

Here's my bottleneck. As people walk and turn, some bones rotate, joints bend etc. When I try to make the character to turn at 45 degree to right and walk a few steps I adjust the limbs and the figure starts flying around like crasy unpredictably. I use pins to fix some parts, like feet and shindles, rotate the pelvis, the hips, the neck etc using that "bone" tool.

Using Aniblocks is not making my lif easier, with all the adjustments it's almost the same as to animating it afresh. I am so disappointed and frustrated. This movement is the final part of the scene. Other 3/4 I made in one or two days with no issues. I use DAZ3D v. 4.9 Any ideas? Thank you

I have spent the last three days doing battle with the Latest version of Daz Studio and have not been able to create one usable render. The user Interface is one of the most non-intuitive nightmares I have ever worked with. I have previously used Poser, Vue, and Carrara with ease. However... Daz, I have to admit you have flummoxed me this time. I can't get ANYTHING to work. I suppose with a few years of college grade classes, I might could manage. I really like your Genesis characters, but am afraid to buy any because I can't even get your free base to render decently. It's a shame you couldn't have made them usable in Poser. In not making Poser friendly Genesis models available, it seems to me you are cutting yourself off from a considerable amount of revenue. Well, I guess I'll shuffle back to Poser in shame. Those who have figured DAZ Studio out? I salute you.

Hey guys, DAZ noob here. I like what I'm learning about this product so far, but there's one thing that's bothering me. If I wanted to make a render featuring Batman, is it possible to import a 3D model of Batman into DAZ and rig it and pose it there- even if it's not something DAZ made itself?

Sorry if this is in the wrong thread, if it is please point me in the right direction and I'll stop bothering you :)
