I've always read that when creating content for DAZ Studio, you should only have quads in your mesh. Why is this?

I opened a free clothing item last night in Hexagon, and I noticed it's made entirely of triangles. I haven't had any problems with the item (yet), but I was wondering what kind of issues could arise?

My intention is to modify this item to meet my current needs, but I'm not sure if I should put forth the effort or not.

I still like to use Hexagon for creating character morphs because it's easy to use when editing vertices and tranfer with DAZ Studio.

However, I'm constantly troubled by a problem where, when moving vertices symmetrically on the X axis, the X axis position automatically resets to 0 the moment I try to edit a point that's close to the center.

I struggle with editing areas where vertices are close to the center, such as around the character's nose.

Until now, I've been editing only one side in Hexagon, then transferring it to DAZ and creating a mirrored morph during the morph creation process.

Is there any way to solve this problem within Hexagon itself, other than the method described above?

For some reason, DIM only installs the 32-bit version. The one that causes "internal error" when using certain tools.

I try to install the 64 bit version, but DIM keeps installing the 32 bit one.

Filters seem not to work

So I am using the DIM filters to explicitly select softwar by:

Filter by Tag > Release Channel > General Release - 64-bit

There is also the option

Filter by Tag > Software > General Release - 64-bit

It's the only option that will show me Hexagon to install, from all the options inside "tag".

Anyways, no matter what list of "resources to install" I see, it only indicates "Hexagon 2.5" without indicating if it's 32-bit or 64-bit.

If I then select Hexagon 2.5 and install it, it keeps installing the 32-bit version (the one that causes errors when using certain tools on Genesis figures).

I tried the install on a different computer, and it's still installing the 32-bit version.

Any resources to install, the 64-bit version? Even if it's manually? I've been searching half the day and can't find anything on the web.

I have a strange problem. I've noticed inconsistencies before, but I used to attribute them to my own mistakes and oversights. Now, however, I’ve encountered this odd issue, and honestly, it’s significantly hindering my ability to work. In my case, I start with a simple CUBE. Then, I set its dimensions, say (x) 500.000, (y) 350.000, and (z) 400.000. After that, I move the created cube to, let’s say, (x) 16676.000 and (z) 1872.000. Everything seems fine at first, but often, even at this stage, the cube's dimensions start to change.

In the example shown in picture 1, the initial dimensions are correct, but as soon as I move the cube (or manually change its position, picture 2-3), the cube’s (x) dimension shifts to 500.001, 500.002, or 499.999. When I try to correct the (x) value back to 500.000 (picture 4), the coordinates change. The same issue happens if I split the cube in the middle, with the dimensions suddenly including fragmented values like 0.001 instead of ending with a clean 0.

Is there a way to fix this? Am I doing something wrong, or is this really a bug?

Hello All,

I was hoping someone could share their expertise. I am not a computer guy and I have only recently tried to make clothing. In the example of the Irvin jacket I made, the melton collar and trim look too straight.

Do I have to model irregularities, like curly hair, or is there a way to texture it so it appears non-uniform?

Best regards,

This is probably a dumb question, but I can't find anything that says. Maybe I just missed it?

I imported a character from DAZ Studio and crafted a Jetpack for them. I think I'm ready to move the Jetpack into Studio to start rendering some sprites, but I'm not sure exactly what to do at this point.

If I save it, does it save the character AND the jetpack? Should I delete the character? Do I just export it to Studio? This is not some great work of art worthy of selling in the store, it's just enough to give the sprites the appearance of wearing a jetpack from the angle I'm going to be rendering from.

Thank you

Asked a Million Times but I Still Need Help

Hello Everyone,

I would first like to say I am 55 years old and not a computer guy, in that I have never taken any courses. I realise the problem of "clingwrap" clothing has been an ongoing issue for years. I have tried to use many of the after-the-fact solutions to fix the problem, to no avail.

I tried to make an Inrvin jacket for a pinup calendar I am creating. Besides being a novice at using Hexagon and modelling in general, I am getting there. There are numerous problems including not being able to map textures properly, but I can fix those in post using Photoshop.

My question is this, please forgive me if I get the terminology wrong. I used the transfer utility in Daz after importing the jacket. I used another garment as the source. I think I did that correctly. My question is this, is there a way to get Daz to ignore the breast morphs, so they do not transfer them to the jacket?

I simply want the body of the jacket to hang straight.

Surely fixing the problem after the garment has become deformed is missing the point.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank andbest regards,

Peter

Hi. I'm Very new to Hexagon. I've been trying to adjust a bump in the suit in the lower back. When sending an adjusted item back to Daz there's NO Item Menu to select Reverse Deformations. I do select accept and it makes the morph menu option in Parameters. I find it and it warps the whole item, in this case the suit. I have Daz 4.22 installed and See attachments for version of Hexagon.
