So, I want to buy some lighting. What do you suggest I try to get for people with no background to look realistic without being so bright they look like cartoons. I know I will still need to tweak lighting once it loaded but I need a good starting point to work with.

I am confusing about gohst bones now. so I hope someone who had make clothing
and set gohst bones usually, please teach me.

I thought gohst bones can not be assigend face groups,
but they can apply weight map, so I can freely move the part
witch weight mapped by ghost bone.
but it is wrong?

1. I make new ghost bone eg test_ghost.

2. I did not change any gruoups. keep groups,
(face groups, node gruoups, and surface gropus)

so no poligon is assigned by the ghost bone.

3 I applyed (eg x rotation) weight map to the new ghost bone,

I check it by parameter tab, yes now weight mapped surface
can rotate with gohst bone.

4 but when I rotate another node,(which had been apply weight map
for x rotation)

the x rotate weight map had gone away and cleared off,
so I can not rotate the poligon by the node.

I understand if I apply weight map for some node which assigend face groups,
they remove weight map of the poligon which had been assigned another node.

and each rotation weight mapped covered all the figure surface , and each poligon
weight mapped by one node. that means I can rotate each poligon by only one node(bone)
(though poligons move with paretende node rotation too)

my qutesiton 1
gohst bone is same? if I weight mapped for gohst bone, another node weight map
uhas cleared? if it is turue, how to and for what purpose use gohst bone?

and if i want to make another move which is not ristricted other node movements
for the clothing ( which fit to the figure) I can only make morphs for them?
and morph is the only way to move the poligons of clothing free? (when clothing fit to the figure)

Hi all :-)

Now that it seems that Optitex dynamic clothing sims can be used in Carrara, I grabbed a few freebies to see whether it was worth purchasing some content, but I'm having a big problem getting it installed in Studio 4.5 Pro.

I've looked at the official Optitex video on installing and have done it as well as I can figure out, bearing in mind that the Studio content no longer resides in Program Files, as it did when the video was made, but in My Document/My Library.

I get the thumbnail of the item showing in Studio, but when loading get an "A files or files are missing" error.

What has me puzzled is that the clothing comes in a zip file, which contains a folder 'BodiceShirt" inside that, there is another zip file named "content", as well as a thumbnail, template and licence. According to the video, the second zi file must be unzipped to the Daz content folder. There is no content folder, so I've tried unzipping it to My Library; that creates a content folder, containing Runtime, data, People files. Inside People, Victoria 4, inside that Dynamic Clothing, then finally inside that BodiceShirt.daz, Materials, BodiceShirt.daz.png and Thumbs.db.

So, what files are missing?

Of course, when unzipping the inner zip file, the files that come with it - the thumbnail, template and licence get left behind.

I'd really appreciate some guidance in this :-)

It's not working because when you import a Backdrop

It looks pixelly. The only way to get it to look fully render like it is in the picture, is to Render the entire animation.

But i dont want to render it.

Cause I just want to do my animations in preview mode render.

Why did DAZ not make OpenGL to act like it acted in Poser 6. IN Poser 6 you would import a picture/or a render picture as a Backdrop and
it would look full quality. So you would be able to render a Preview mode animatioin with the background picture looking full quality.

But in DAZ you import a picture as a Backdrop and it looks Pixelated and not full quality.

And there's no way around it.

Cause also if you try to render your animation with Background transparency so that you can put together your Full render picture/render along with your animation USING Finalcut et c......To get transparency in your image series character animation( characters and no background)..the only way you can get transparency is to render FULL 3DDelight mode.

This is something that DAZ messed up because in prior versions of daz( Version 2 ), you could render in Prieview mode and it would have transparency. Now you can only get transparency if you do full 3D delight renders.

Anyways, some of us want to do quick animations and not do full renders,
so this is not fair that we can't have easy transparency

DAZ Studio 4.5 Release Candidate Available Now

DAZ Studio 4.5 RC1!

This release candidate is available to all customers and will run either without a serial number (although you will be asked to enter one each time you run DAZ Studio), or with your current DAZ Studio serial number. Installing 4.5 will uninstall 4.0, and we recommend installing only one of either 4.0.x or 4.5.x on the same machine.

The purpose of this build is to provide early access to the new features available in DAZ Studio 4.5. This is a release candidate, which means we are looking for prompt feedback about significant issues that may still exist in this build as we approach full release. To help our test and development teams, please focus issue reports on items that are significant workflow blocks, crashes, or other major issues rather than new feature requests, UI changes, or desired workflow changes.

New in DAZ Studio 4.5:
1. Full implementation of the DSON file format. This enables full scene save in a lightweight scene file (DUF format). These scene files can be loaded and used by anyone who has installed the products used in the scene. If one or more of the products is not found upon loading the scene, a warning dialog will indicate which files are needed.
2. Selective item save/load. Save only selected items in a scene, then drop them into another scene using lightweight preset files.
3. Viewport speed dramatically increased. For many viewport interactions, speed will be 2-5x faster than DAZ Studio 4.0.
4. DSON file save includes the ability to load and use most Poser files as if they were native DSF files. DUF scenes that contain items in Poser format are also sharable (i.e. only contain references to the needed Poser files).
5. Property Settings now consolidates more information about each property into a single interface (e.g. presentation editor).
6. FBX Import FBX files can now be round-tripped through DAZ Studio, including rigged and animated items in the scene.
7. The Darkside style is now included as part of the base installation package.
8. No serial number is required to run either the 32-bit or 64-bit versions of DAZ Studio Standard
9. Shader Mixer has significantly improved workflow and documentation.
10. New "Ready to Render" scenes have been added as part of the content that installs with 4.5. Loading these is a great way to start tweaking and playing with some cool scenes.
11. A number of Lesson Strips have been added. These are quick lessons about DAZ Studio basics. There are also instruction on how to create your own Lesson Strips on the DAZ Documentation Center.

Along with all the new things in DAZ Studio 4.5, you will also find new documentation on some of the deeper functionality in DAZ Studio on the DAZ Documentation Center in the Publishing and DAZ Studio sections.

If you find any serious issues please report them with as much detail as you can in the DAZ Issue Tracker

What you need to know about this build:
1. Many, many issues and workflow improvements have been addressed since we released 4.0.3. Too many to list here. Please see the DAZ Issue Tracker and the DAZ Studio 4.5 Change Log for details (this will be included in the download of the product).
2. Files saved from this version of DAZ Studio are not backward compatible with older versions, including version 4.0.x.
3. Plugins that run in version 4.0 will not run in version 4.5.
4. When installing the plugins that come with DAZ Studio, you may see warning dialogs indicating there was a problem with installation. These warnings do not affect installation, but we are addressing the warnings in a later build.
5. Not all features of FBX are supported on import, so characters from other 3D applications imported in FBX format may or may not come through with all their components.
6. All presets are saved in lightweight DUF format and scripted presets (DSA files) have been deprecated. DSA presets will still save and load, but the new preset format should be used in their place.

I am hoping someone might be able to help with this, as well as letting me know how this is possible - I have tried loading the Underground King clothing for M4 into Daz 4.0 http://www.daz3d.com/shop/underground-king-m4 - the pants, the boots and the pendant show up fine, however there seems to be a strange problem with the shirt- it shows up in the scene as if it's there, but it doesn't appear in the view, and if you render, it still doesn't appear. I've checked to make sure it's 100% opacity, I've tried changing colors, nothing works. Although, if I pose M4 while this invisible shirt is fitted to him, parts of it become invisible behind him, like wings or something, and when I click on them they name body parts. (Shoulders, etc.)

I can load this shirt fine in Daz Studio 3 Advanced. I tried saving it as a scene and then merging, but it's still invisible. I am confused as to how this is possible, and how I can fix it... Any help would be greatly appreciated! :-) -Cathy

Hello,

I turned a simple plane with the shader mixer into an area light. That works. The plane emits light. But I still see the plane itself in the rendered image. Turn off the option "visible in Renderer" turn also off the light.
How can I make the plane invisible but still have the light?
Thanks for your help.

Hi !
Been reding through the thread "GET DAZ STUDIO 4.5! See why...".
Awsome thread, I must say, but in all honesty I don't get even a fraction of it. Mainly since I'm an "average" user who don't have a clue to what all those three-letter do-hickeys actually do and never use them. As far as I can tell...

Picture is this:
I use Studio 4.0.3 Pro. Prolly overkill for my use but - hey - it was free and there was no sign attached saying "Do not use if you don't know what all those three-letter do hickeys actually do!", allright ?
So - I'm using DS for posing, lighting, rendering and in certain cases, exporting figures out as OBJ's. That's it.

The concerns I have about DS 4.5 can most probably be answered with simple Yes or No's. That's really all I need and complex, techie answers won't serve any purpose. I don't know what the fregg you'r talking about anyways ...
I'm just using DS and it is supposed to be user friendly, no ?
K' - here goes:

*DS 4.5 will overwrite the previous 4.0.3 and make it and plugins like Reality 2.2 dissapear ?

*If not, do I have to delete the 4.0.3 in it's entirety, install the 4,5 and start all over again with installing back all the content I now have installed ?

*Will all the previously released morph packs - like Muscle Morphs, Characters, V5, M5 and so forth - for Genesis work with the new Genesis Starter Essentials 1.3 ?

*Will V4 and M4 still be valid for use in DS 4.5 ?

Thanks !

DAZ Studio 4.5 RC3 is available for download!

This build is available to all customers and will run either without a serial number (you will be asked to enter one each time you launch the application until you do), or with your current DAZ Studio 4.x serial number. Installing DAZ Studio 4.5 RC3 will uninstall any previous installations of DAZ Studio 4.x, and we recommend running only one version of DAZ Studio 4.x on the same machine.

The purpose of this build is to provide users with early access to new features and bug fixes that are only available in DAZ Studio 4.5. This build is a Release Candidate, which means we are looking for prompt feedback about significant issues that may still exist in this build as we approach the General Release. To help our Quality Assurance and Software Development teams, please focus any reports you make on issues that are significant blocks, crashes or other "show-stopper" caliber issues, rather than requesting new features, user interface and/or workflow changes.

New in DAZ Studio 4.5:
1. Full implementation of the DSON file format specification - This enables saving scenes in a lightweight format that can be loaded and used by anyone who has installed the products used in the scene. If one or more of the assets used in the scene are not found while the scene is loading, a simple preview is inserted into the scene in its place and a dialog is displayed indicating which files are needed to load the scene in its entirety.
2. Selectively save parts of a scene - Save only those items in the scene that you choose, rather than having to remove items from the scene before saving. Then, easily drop that scene subset into another scene using lightweight DSON format files.
3. Viewport speed dramatically increased - For many interactions, viewport speed will be 2-5 times faster than DAZ Studio 4.0.
4. Load and use most Poser format files as if they were native DSON files - Scenes that are constructed using items loaded from Poser format files and then saved to the DSON format, are also sharable; they maintain references to the required Poser files, rather than the contents of those files.
5. Consolidated viewing/editing of Property Settings - The Property Settings dialog now consolidates more editable information about each property into a single interface; e.g. Presentation Editor, Controllers, Sub-Components, Keys, etc.
6. FBX Import - FBX files can now be round-tripped through DAZ Studio, including rigged and animated items in the scene.
7. "Darkside" style is now included - You no longer need to download and install this style separately, it is included as part of the standard installation.
8. Relaxed serial number requirements - No serial number is required to run either the 32-bit or 64-bit versions of DAZ Studio Standard Edition.
9. Shader Mixer improvements - Shader Mixer has significantly improved workflow and documentation.
10. New "Ready to Render" scenes - New scenes that are "Ready to Render" have been added as part of the content that installs with 4.5. Loading these is a great way to start tweaking and playing with some cool scenes.
11. Lesson Strip - We've added quick lessons about DAZ Studio basics. There are also instructions on how to create your own Lessons on the Documentation Center.

Along with many new features in DAZ Studio 4.5, you will also find new documentation on some of the deeper functionality in DAZ Studio on the Documentation Center in the Publishing and DAZ Studio sections.

If you find any serious issues please report them with as much detail as you can in the DAZ Issue Tracker.

What you need to know about this build:
1. Many, many issues and workflow improvements have been addressed since we released 4.0.3.47. Too many to list here. Please see the DAZ Studio 4.5 Change Log and the DAZ Issue Tracker for more detail.
2. Files saved from this version of DAZ Studio are NOT backward compatible with older versions, including version 4.0.x.
3. Plugins that run in version 4.0.x will not run in version 4.5 without being updated by their respective developers. Many of the plugins developed by DAZ 3D are included in the download(s), but may still require a purchased serial number to unlock.
6. All newly saved presets are recorded in the lightweight DUF format and script based presets (DSA/DSB/DSE files) have been deprecated. Many of the script based save presets can still be saved and will load, but the new preset format should be used in their place.
7. The deprecated .DAZ scene format can still be read, but the option to save to this format has been removed; too many crashes were being caused by the use of an area of the application that has been deprecated and will not be developed further.
8. Support for Poser format content that makes use of Propagating Scale and/or Dependent Parameters (valueOpKey) has been updated. This can cause the behavior of items that use these features to change.
9. The 3Delight render engine included with DAZ Studio 4.5 has been updated to coincide with the current public standalone version (10.0.50). This may cause some compiled third party shaders to require an update. Shaders that were compiled using the tools provided in DAZ Studio 4 should already be compatible with both DAZ Studio 4 and 4.5. These shaders should automatically recompile at render-time, but will warn that the shader should be recompiled to improve performance. Shaders built using Shader Mixer are not subject to the change and should continue to function without an update.
10. We would suggest that in order to use the PW Shaders you should reset your downloads to get the latest version to run with DAZ Studio 4.5 RC3.

Thank you for helping us make DAZ Studio great!

You can get this version here:
If you already have the DAZ Studio 4.5 RC (1 or 2) you can simply reset your download to receive the new files.
