Hello

I am still using DAZStudio 3.1.2
I want to create an animated file which contains several different clips

suppose I create the first animation ex frames 1 - 30
Then I create the second animation, let say : frame 40 - 60

the key frame #40 changes the original key frame #30
In other words the two clips affect each other

What shall I do to create unrelated clips in one file only ?

When I install new content, sometimes it goes in Unassigned where I can find it, and sometimes it goes into other Default categories.

To make categorizing easier, I usually only install one product at a time, or a combination of obviously unrelated content. Because the Unassigned category is always empty, everything in here can be immediately found, no problem. However the non-Unassigned Default categories are a bit trickier. Theoretically one can look for the blue highlighting to find the content. Unfortunately sometimes the blue highlighting is not removed for empty categories which would gradually create more and more categories to have to look through to find your newly installed content, and of of course if you actually try to use any of the content (perhaps to see exactly how it interacts with existing content to determine where to put it) the blue highlighting will be lost. Short of manually looking at every single category and subcategory in the entire system under Default, I don't see a good way to find lost content in here if you don't know it's name.

How do other people avoid this problem?

(link added 12/15/2012)
Okay, here's something we can do as a community... and hopefully someone will help me understand how:

Create MORE pose controls for the face.

As far as I can tell, most if not all of those pose controls are not simply morphs, but morph controllers.

I was looking at Victoria 4's expression controls, and I noticed, for instance, that the Pucker set to a value of -50% (or -.5) is a fantastic smirk.

However, I can't make that work with the Genesis by turning the limits off. Just doesn't have any effect below a value of 0.

So... there are obviously a tonne of little morphs being controlled by these dials. And since we can organize them, we can add to them and have them be operable. There are no tongue controls, for instance, save for the Visemes.

We can make her better! We have the technology...

Oh, and while we're at it... if we can figure out how to do this... or if one of the gurus already knows, and can share the knowledge, we can add to the Body pose controlls as well!

I've parented the bar and the hands to a null THAT didn't work. I can't parent the bar to BOTH hands without it looking like it's about to fall. I've parented one hand to the other and then parented the bar to the parent hand, THAT didn't work. HOW can it be animated so he's pushing out reps on the bench press the bar and hands together in animation??? I've done it with the Dumbbells that was easy. I've done the preset poses for each barbell rep, but the bar has to be posed seperately and that makes the figure fly all over the screen. HOW????

Hi,

I'm quite a novice at 3D art, but technically savvy enough to get up and running. I commissioned a professional 3D artist to create a head for a character based on my specifications. The work is done and I have Zbrush and 3DS exports of the mesh and a basic skin map baked into the Zbrush project as well as in a separate PSD file.

I'd like to now take that bust and weld it to a body that I can customize on my own in DAZ, ideally using the full suite of morphs, textures, wardrobe, etc with a Genesis base model. I'm out of money to hire a pro so I'd like to figure out how to do this myself, but I'm pretty stumped on what steps to take next.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

many thanks,

Hi all,

I've found references to this in various places but no solutions, so here I am.

I'm trying to export a character from DS4 in the FBX format. Most of the time, I have no problem with this. But I started playing around with the creature creator kit, and now I can't get some of the morphs to work.

As it's exporting, I see the character straighten out into a default pose as usual, but *without* some of the morphs that it normally has. (It goes from being a hulking beast to a hulking couch potato.)

When I open it up in 3DS Max, it has the pose that I gave it, but it loses the morphs (i.e., it's the same hulking couch potato form that appears quickly in the default pose during export).

I've tried checking/unchecking the morphs option for the export and fiddling with the morph export options to no avail. I have no idea what's going on.

Any ideas?

I attached cropped screenshots of the model normally, during export, with a reset pose for comparison, and as it appears in 3DS Max after import.

Thanks,

Using Daz Studio 4.5 Pro

Here's the problem:

Trying to export my [heavily] modified Genesis based character out to Mudbox via FBX for texture painting.
Problem is, Mudbox sees the FBX as having 26 separate UV tiles, one for each material. [I counted]

I cannot paint 26 separate 2048x2048 TIFFs, all loaded into memory, at the once. That's crazy

Surely the Genesis mesh does not have 26 UV tiles! Does it? No... couldn't be. Should only have the 5 or 6 [if you count the tear]

So the question is:

How do I get my geometry out to my 3D painting package?

Thanks

And because a picture is worth 1KWords

Hello,

Thank you in advance to anyone able to offer some guidance!

I have started a small project with a group of my grade 6 students where we'd like to import a short animation of a Toon Alien we purchased in the Daz store (http://www.daz3d.com/shop/toon-alien) saying a few things using Mimic Lite and then use him in a short space video they have created using green screen in Sony Vegas... I have discovered how to import the Toon Alien into Mimic lite but only the head moves around with the audio file loaded...The mouth doesn't move at all. In DS I am able to manipulate everything around the Alien's mouth including the mouth, tongue, etc... there are even sliders for emotions that allow me to manipulate the mouth further... Long story short, Alien has a mouth, it can move... Why is it not cooperating in Mimic?

if all else fails I will try this method (does this only work with 32bit version?) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ya2_AiX0F5c but it seems very time consuming... With a school day already squeezed for instructional time, I'd love for this to work so that others may benefit in their future productions...

thanks for taking the time to read this and thanks again for anyone who can make any suggestions!

Take care!

Some weird, frustrating issues all of the sudden... [SOLVED]

Recently I've been noticing some odd issues with DAZ Studio that previously weren't happening. I'm not sure what's causing them, and there was no particular event (like a reinstall) that I can point to as the starting point. The issues are:

1. New stuff not showing up in Smart Content, even after metadata was manually reimported. Smart Content from products installed more than a few weeks ago is still there.

2. Sometimes, with Genesis selected, when I load an article of clothing, it loads without fitting to Genesis. I can then manually "fit to," but previously this step wasn't required...

<del>3. Not enough data to say for sure, but it seems like renders are taking a LOT longer all of the sudden. I had one recently that took 70 hours; previously my longest was around 24 (I had two take about that long, one of which was 2000x2000 pixels with UE2 and DOF, just to give a benchmark). The 70 hour render resulted in the image below. It had very high-quality render settings and UE2, and was the first time I rendered Gregoria Hair which I understand can take a while...but it still seemed excessively long. I just tried rendering another scene, with the settings (shading rate, etc.) turned down to default levels, but I cancelled it after it ran for an hour and was still at 0%...lots of transmapped plants in the scene, but again it seemed to be taking longer than expected. I made some changes to try to speed things up, and am trying it again. Two slow renders don't really make a trend, but since I've got other issues listed above, I thought I'd mention this potential one too.</del> After further testing, it looks like this might be a non-issue...let's consider it solved for now.

I'm using DS 4.5.1.6 on a 64-bit machine, 3GB RAM, 1.6GHz single-core, Windows 7. My system specs aren't so great by 3D standards, but they've been good enough so far... Let me know what additional information would be helpful in diagnosing the problem and I'd be happy to provide it.
