Hi,

I'm very interested in getting V4 or M4 to use their lips in a realistic manner.
I'm targetting non-english language, italian and it is all about the language, therefore the way the lips move while talking is important.

I've tried the Mimic Pro and could not make it work with M3.

I've searched then and found that there are tools on the market such as Zing Track 2 that do automated scanning of the face, including the lips that I could use, however based on the opnions provided here it looks like it's not really working
http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/3748

Were you succesful in using other facial mock-up/recognition software to allow a Daz model to mimic exactly the lips of a real person?
Do you know such softwares?
Would I need any aditional hardware for it? the Zing Track 2 features no specific hardware a mere web cam would do.

Thank you

I am no longer able to assign/change the compatibility base assignment for content. Some of my content does have an assigned compatibility base but much of it does not any longer. When I try to assign/reassign a compatibility base (Scene Tab - Edit - Scene Identification - Compatibility Base) I get the the window where I can assign/create compatibility bases but when I click Accept it does not save the setting. When I go back to see if it has been saved the Compatibility Base field says "none". I get this same behavior with any of the other routes to creating /assigning compatibility bases within the program.

Any thought why this is not working? I'm thinking it's a new bug in the program? Everything else seems to be working fine... CMS and Smart Content is all present but just does not filter correctly for the content that does not have an assigned Compatibility Base.

I'm using Mac OS 10.8, and DazStudio Pro 4.5.1.56 (64bit)

I have loaded a figure in the scene and I have loaded a dynamic clothing object.
The dynamic cloth item is an object. There are no bones to select for movement.
I have tried an item that parented directly to the figure and I have tried an item that had to be Fit To the figure
When I open the dynamic cloth tab I see all the settings as I can find in the tutorials, but the "active item" field always shows None
How do I get an active item selected? Are dynamic cloth items supposed to be object files?
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, sorry this is my first post and stuff but I got a problem and would like to ask for your help.

I mostly use Victoria 4.2 for renders, and often I have clothes that don´t fit her and have insufficient morphs to fit her. What I usually did with DS 4 Pro was scaling the clothes or only parts of it and mesh smoothing to properly fit it to the figure. This worked pretty well with DS 4 Pro.

Now a couple of days ago I installed DS 4.5.1.6 (Win 7, 64 bit) and all of a sudden I can not scale any clothes parts anymore, on clothes that are fir to V4.2. I usually select lothing parts like hips or abdomen and scale them with the parameters tab. It always worked fine with DS4 but in DS4.5 it does not. The scaling values are showed right in white color, like x > 82% but the item itself is not scaled, it keeps it´s original form and the scaling is not applied. This only happens when the clothing is "Fit to". When the clothing is stand alone without being assigned to a figure the scaling works right. If I do that and then assign the clothing to the figure, it´s shape also resets to its original shape, but keeps the changed scale values in the parameter tab. This happens on V4 and V4.2 so that´s not the problem. It also happens when I load an old DS4 scene where everything worked fine, all the scaled clothing assigned to a figure resets to it´s original shape.

Sometimes I also use the translate function for some clothing parts, but this also stopped working. It shows the right values in the parameter tab but instead of translating the part it seems to get rotated or bend or such. I use scaling and translating quite often on clothes, and this problem really bugs me. I also tried to switch on/off the auto fit option in the preference tab of DS but it did not change anything.

Can someone please help me?

Hello!

Today I need your help again:

Navigating through scenes is always a pain for me. You have to scroll the mouse wheel for ages to get from one side to the other (especially in big environments), clicking and dragging and scrolling, again and again, on and on. This way it takes a very long time exploring the environment and finding a good place and angle for the camera. And sometimes it is simply frustrating.

So, what I would like to have is the ability to "fly" or "walk" throgh the scens like in a classic first person video game. Using the arrow keys to move forward, back, left and right. Maybe two additional keys to move up and down.

I have already searched the actions list under "Customize" but I could not find such actions for moving around. Neither for the viewport, nor for the camera.

My question is: Can this be done in any way?

If not, how do you "walk" through your scenes, searching for a nice place for your next render?

Any help is very welcome. Thanks!

I just received the latest DAZ email "Start 2013 With a Whole New Look for 65% OFF", and noticed at the bottom of it a banner for the new 3D University ... "Learn & Tune Your 3D Skills FOR FREE".

"GREAT!!!" I thought, so clicked and sat fidgetting while the page loaded and excellent! Some free training videos for Studio 4.5 and other products, all by Dreamlight ... another plus point as I do think their stuff hits the spot quite well.

But wait!!! They are not all free ... two of the videos are un-FREE ... and right now I am skint. Oh, well, I'll wishlist them and wait, I guess.

So on to the other items, the associated products to support the training, a fair spread from Stonemason and Favarel and others, soem discounted, some full price, so I wishlist each of those in turn, checking what each is and then spot a few that seem out of place ...

The Render Presets are for Poser only, not Studio 4.5, so why recommend them here?

And then the "Render Throttle" product says this:
"•This Plug-in DOES NOT work with DAZ Studio 4+. The options it exposed are available in the Advanced Render settings of DAZ Studio 4+."

... Which kinda means it won't work with Studio 4.5, and if I did buy it I would be double making a mistake as the functions are now integrated in 4.5 ... so again, why recommend it here?

Now I feel a bit uncertain of the compatibility of the "Ink Render Plugin" that is also recommended, but the page gives no hint of which versions of Studio it works with.

Oh, well, slam 'em all on the wishlist and cross my fingers for enlightenment soon ...

So, DAZ, why are two of the FREE training modules not free?

And what about the recommended products to support the course?

And on a similar note. Why does saving a light not give you the option to not have it over ride the other lights in the scene? The shader lights do that and newly created light presets do it. I've been saving them as a scene subset..but it makes the save as a light preset less than handy. I can see times when you would want lights to remove the old lights but it isn't logical that it is the only save option. I think holding down control prevents the over ride but it doesn't give the pop up option window to choose. And to be honest not everyone knows to try that trick.

Hello!

I am tired of using pre-made poses for my figures. It is boring and you rarely get what you really want. Of course you can try to tweak and change poses, but mostly this ends in a mess. And again, you rarely get what you really need. Especially when you do not need a "stand alone" pose, but one where your figure interacts with props (sitting, lying, leaning,...)

So I try to create my own poses. But I found out that this is really tough. Especially the hip seems to be a problem, because you cannot move or turn or twist the hip - this makes the whole body move.

My question to all advanced pose creators is:
Can you give me some tips and advices to learn posing from scratch? Where and how to start?

Thanks in advance,

Every now and then without ever messing with the lights, if I go down the timeline frame by frame my distant lights will turn into specular lights on random frames without any keyframes on them. If I click on the distant light via the scene tab no keyframes are on the timeline or even on my timeline using keymate, so I have to go frame by frame of over 100's to see which ones were changed to specular lights

Daz Script Window Opacity Syntax?

What is the Daz Script syntax to set window opacity?

Here are a few lines from the mcjListRender script, declaring a dialog box:
var wDlg = new DzDialog;

wDlg.caption = programName + " " + versionName;

If I extrapolate from the syntax I see in the scripts I'm looking at, the declaration of window opacity would go something like

wDlg.windowOpacity = ".5";

No love when I insert this line, though.

Does the Ethnicity Bundle include head shapes and textures?

I'm relatively new to Daz3D Studio, and I get confused over what works with what, especially now that Genesis is here, and some textures work with it, some don't, etc. As I understand it, any texture for the Four version of Victoria, Michael, etc, will work with Genesis.

I'm thinking of buying the Ethnicity Bundle, but want to make sure that it will work with the Genesis base characters, as well as the Gen 3 iconic shapes. I also have a third party set of morphs which creates some really nice ethnic faces using the Genesis base (dietrying's 182 morphs, and RAMWorks great head morphs), and I want to make sure it works with that as well before I buy it.

I basically want to optimize my textures and choices, without having to buy too many of them. I've pretty much got shaping unique looking characters by dialing them in, but textures still have me somewhat stumped. I'm a 12 year 3DS Max user, so I'm no newbie to 3D - it's just that the process with Daz is quite a bit different. Thanks.

Hello everyone,

I'm using Daz Studio and Zbrush, I pose V4 in Daz Studio an export it (default settings) as .obj file so once I import it into Zbrush I can smooth areas like the joints of the tights or arms.

Then once I smoothed these areas I export the .obj file and use Morph Loader Pro to load the new .obj as a morph, however when I move the dial to 100 to use the morph, V4 body starts deforming in a weird way and looks like her arms and legs start to grow longer and even the eyes and tongue move outside.

My guess is that there is something wrong when exporting the OBJ file, which are the settings to export V4 in Zbrush so I can smooth the pose and bring it back to Daz?

Thank you very much.
