No matter how many poses I have, they are still not enough and most of the time don't fulfill what I'm looking for. So typically I start with a pose and then tweak it from there (well totally rearrange and do everything). It doesn't always come out good though but I try.

I use V4/M4 poses on Genesis a lot. Now that I have Handy Dandy (I think that is what it is called), life is better.

I'm thinking of buying some partial pose packs. You know where there are only upper body poses or lower body poses.

Anyone have any favorite packs they use or can recommend?

The more the merrier.

Hello,

I am having some glitches since migrating my content files to a new computer.

When I load a saved scene (pre-saved character usually), The figure comes in but not much else. Clothes, hair, props, etc, that were saved in the scene do not seem to really be there. Even though they are listed as being in the scene they are not visible.

I assume the scene file points to the drive these objects were in when the file was saved. Is there a program that I can use to load and edit the original .daz files AND .duf files?

Or is there a better way to fix these scene files?

Thanks for any help

Hey I was wondering what the rules are for installing content on a second computer. I have a laptop that I take back and forth to work with everything installed on it now. I don't do anything with it at work but got tired of stuff stolen so I haul it back and forth.

Meanwhile back at the ranch, I have a desktop that sits here and does nothing all day.

I thought about this last night because I was going to try to do an animation for the first time. The normal scene takes about 20 minutes to render.

I put in the animation sequence, rendered. Got an error of some sort the first time. So I tried again and put the quality down to 2, just to see if something would render to see what it is like. I left it on all night and basically had to reboot the computer this morning.

Soooo...was wondering about having 2 setups.

I have seen there are other threads regarding this warning. I haven't seen anyone though covering my problem.

1. My first problem was that the render was VERY murky, not black, but very dark, when I rendered in the "4" (best) quality. The scene looked ok until I rendered it. I tried to add more light. That helped but instead my Victoria 5 model looked blotchy like she contracted som strange skin diseas. To save time when trying to solve this, I rendered the scene on the lowest quality and suddenly everything looked just fine. I got this above mentioned warning, but it worked out fine. Same thing when I rendered in the "2" quality. (Same warning). But then something weird happened which leads to my second problem.

2. When I rendered the scen in the "3" quality, same warning, but this time Daz crashed instantly. I have retried numerous times and restarted the computer. Daz crashes every time.

To sum it up:
Why does the scene look so dark when I render it in the highest quality? (i have tried to rendered it with no lights at all, besides the original Daz Studio light. No difference)
Why does the model look so blotchy when I add more lights?
Why does Daz crash when I render in the second highest quality?

More importantly than "why" the problem occurs is; what can I do to fix this?

Oh, and I don't obscure the viewport, (if that means surfing or doing something else while rendering).

Hi all,
I have a rather large project for a collection of renders emulating the POV of a journalist/hero with a hidden cam (consider a cyber eye cam) in a dangerous place (here an island). I have no intention of animating the scenes (too much time consuming) but I will render every 10 or 30 seconds [not decided at this early stage] of the storyline. The plot is designed (roughly) and I will need a large 3D world of about 1 kilometre in x, 500 metres in z and 100 metres in y. Knowing that the base daz unit is 1 cm, it would be a HUGE scene.
Is it possible with a decent computer (not a Cray….) ? My experience with previous large sceneries is that they take a very long time to even load (not to mention render but in my case it is not the main problem) and I I have never really tried anything beyond a few hundred metres (probably less than 300).
I would like to get hints about the most effective strategy to achieve this project. Ideally I would create a gigantic light dome and put all my buildings and terrain (I have a hand made paper gridded map for reference). However I do not think it would be practical. My other option is to create numerous partial scenes (about the size of a floor grid which is 40*40 metres) corresponding to” real” world coordinates grid and then to merge them when needed. This way I can save many “world parts” creation processes but I have some doubts about the precise positioning of the merged subscenes, I would need to merge but also shift the references (as the 0 point is in fact 40 metres or a multiple of that away), not so easy actually….
I hope I was clear...
I suppose several artists in this forum have tried large scene projects and found a way to avoid the traps I guess. Any help/advice/comment would be highly appreciated. Thanks for reading and suggesting.

I bought megafiers product for Unity to export DAZ characters to Unity with Morphs and animation.

One of the steps needed is Export the morphs to Blender via COLLADA file.

Oh well it just had to be that DAZ 4.6 takes loads of time, it's basically stuck with a spiinning beach ball(mac), and basically crashes when Exporting Collada even with only just one V4.

So basically useless, i can't do nothing. And then Blender itself doesn't support the collada files from DAZ.
Not for what i want to do(because i want to export all morphs )but i tried just exporting a few morphs to the Collada file and then that file did make iself and didn't crash but Blender says ERROR and can't open it.

So overall, i bought DECIMATOR and MEGAFIERS and basically I can't do nothing cause of the Collada Export.

Well, at least Decimator is great and it does work ,so if i can't get facial animation or nothing beause of inability to export collada to blender, at least i got Decimator which is great.

However, that still doesn't change the fact that i wasted 150 for Megafiers and the videos claimed the process is so easy and that all i need is FREE BLENDER that ONLY TAKES COLLADA!!! And COLLADA EXPORT is daz is Sluggish, crashes and is useless.

So yeah i'm angry.

look right now, simple Collada export of Base V4. it's been 30 minutes with the Mac Spnning Beachball and the fill bar hasn't moved at all. What a ** , oh you know what i wanna say.

The kind of range I'm looking at is something like a HD7870 or a GTX660 with either an i5 or i7 CPU. (The CPU will be in a new build, whereas the GPU is a replacement for the melted card, but will be moved to the new build).

I've read in various places that you get better performance from OpenGL cards, but then I'm hearing people also talking about CUDA cores. I'm not sure how either of those impact performance.
The new build will be a Win7 64bit system with as much RAM as I can afford (should the RAM be DDR5 now?) running DAZ 6.4
I don't plan to overclock or have cooling.

Any advice gratefully received. Thank you in advance!

I went to import V4 as collada into Marvelous Designer 2 and to my disappointment, found that the textures are scrambled and slows my whole computer down. I have done all kinds of testing, including rolling my MD2 back to when it use to work.....failed. The last test confirmed it was the current version of Daz. I imported the collada V4 I had created in DS 4.5 and it worked perfectly. Yes, I can create the garment but I am out of luck animating the garment and bringing it into Daz.

I will submit a but report. No being able to use collada is not acceptable and if I have to roll Daz back to 4.5, I will.

Just found out we have no more bug tracker! >:-(

I have a dress. Jersey Dres 2.

Originally with my morphed V4. it didn't fit so i had to use "Transfer Active Morphs" and then Add Smoothing Modifier
from the Edit/Figure Menu

set those to Collision Iterations 10 or 15 and smoothing to 5

That's how i got my Jersey Dres to fit.

However, when i decimate, then the dres no longer fits perfectly and bodyparts poke through.

What can i do?

rescaling an object in world coordinates

I think I am misunderstanding how rescaling of an object works when the Tool Settings pane's dropdown is set to "Use World Coordinates". Can somebody clarify what this option means, and/or how to actually resize an object in the world coordinates along one axis only?

See screenshot. I have a cube.

If I leave it in the default position and drag the "Scale in Y" handle of the universal tool upwards along the world's Y axis, it stretches along that axis as expected. If I rotate the cube 45 degrees along the X axis, then try again, instead of stretching along only the Y axis, it stretches along BOTH the world's Y axis AND the world's Z axis.
What I want to do, in addition to understanding what's going on, is to stretch it only along the world's Y axis (see embedded Bryce screenshot to the right showing what I incorrectly thought was going to happen.)

Hello,

I am using DAZ3D 4.6

I am trying to transfer my DAZ 3D and poser content from my dying laptop to my new desktop.

I thought I could just transfer them to an external hard drive and acess them via a standard system-wide search via DAZ3D content manager. It seemed to have found them BUT I am getting many errors when loading. It can not find many (if not all) the dsf files.

Some assets needed to load the files were missing

the figures load as primitive cube shapes.

This seems to be a problem with the newer .duf files. The older. daz files load. Some load with an error message that not all files could be found BUT the figure(s) load.

Can anyone direct me to the proper way to migrate and find libraries in DAZ4.6.

Thanks for any help.

I've decided to give SSS a try and applied it to two characters with astonishing results. While the elite figure V4 skin works fine (aside from the seams visible) the modified philip M5 looks like a zombie. The same happens with the unmodified Spartacos Genesis texture. Any idea what is happening here? I have quite a lot of custom textures and if they all show this distortions then SSS is no use to me.
